    I'm a 1957 girl also.
1st color TV and watching in amazement at the colored peacock!
Hopscotch, chinese jump rope, marbles, bike riding all over. 5 cent popsicles (cherry/banana/blue), chewing on sassafras from the store next door. Dreamdate barbie, Midge in the most awesome green prom dress, a chemistry set and a GI Joe nurse doll (made only year - wish I'd kept it. My older brother who was the coolest and who we took to Busch Stadium to see the Beatles! I have the ticket stub! My first kiss (on the cheek), at my first concert (Iron Butterly @ IL State Fair). Mini skirts, Maxi coats, Midi Coats, James Taylor, Yes, Pink Floyd, Janis, Jimi, Carol King, and all those groups my brother was into. 1st time girls could wear pants at school, belts braided from leather, head shops, incense, leather headbands, PEACE & LOVE and so much more, I can't believe some of it now! How cool to go down memory lane. I love to reminisce. Thanks for starting this little game!

First concert was Ronnie Milsap at about 12 with the folks. My brother took me to see Journey in college because the date was moved back a day and his "real" date couldn't make it!!!

My cousin had a Beautiful Chrissie doll, we were playing with her and I cut her hair - still hear about that on occasion!!

First R movie - Porkies - my sister and I went before we were of age and thought we were so grown up - lol.

hey jt0703- I have seen some great concerts at Busch Stadium: Billy Joel and Elton John (together), Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney. The old ballpark is gone now. Only 5 weeks until the new Busch Stadium is open and many years of new memories.
Oh Janis - I have seen Poco twice in the past year. Always hitting those old classic rock shows also recently: Firefall, Dave Mason, Jonathon Edwards, Heartsfield and Gypsy.
KariLynn - I cut my doll's hair too. I just threw her away a few wks ago, cleaning out my dad's house.

And Alison Steele "The Night Bird"
my friend sent me this quote
    many years back
I just dug it out for you..
"The flutter of wings, the sounds of the night, the shadow across the moon, as the Night lifts her wings and soars above the earth into another level of comprehension, where we exist only to feel. Come fly with me, Alison Steele, the Night..."

    jt--iron butterfly..indagadadivida...brings back many memories..

Oh, I loved Elton John - "Hold me closer tiny dancer. Count the headlights on the highway....."

And, I used to collect Superballs....remember, those? They'd bounce like crazy! I even named my Superballs...my favorite one I named "Charlie"! (I was a weird kid, I know)

Someone mentioned, "Kiddles" - I still have mine, along with a pink zippered carrying case for them! What about troll dolls? I never really was into those, but, my best friend had a massive collection of those!

Remember, the board game "The Dating Game"? Used to love to play that one! And, how about "Twister"?

I thought me and my friends were the only crazy ones who used to love to ride our bikes into the fog left behind by the mosquito spray truck!

How about riding in cars without seat belts???? The thought of that terrifies me now!

"Young Romance" comic books were another favorite of mine and my teenage friends....

8-track players.....I think my first 8 track tape was "Bread" -Baby, I'm a want you, Baby, I'm a need you....

So much fun remembering all this stuff!

Patti....this is such a fun way to remember all the good things down memory lane...I remember almost all of the music and things mentioned but was probably just a little older than everyone posting being a 1950 gal.
My fondest memories early on were of bike riding with my brothers in the desert of New Mexico and using tin cans with waxed string as phones to talk to each other!!!
Then the roller skating craze took over and I wore my key around my neck everywhere. 1958 was a big moment when I kissed Elvis on the cheek aboard the USS Randal...he was in the Army on his way to Germany and I was an Army brat going there to live, too, with my family. The following years were filled with the memories of Doo Wop, Motown, Janis J. and Janis Ian (sp?)Led Zeplin, on & on.
I wore my favorite brown maxi coat, with its dark brown velvet collar to college in Upstate NY and I had my white eyelet lace floppy hat as a Senior in high school.
My bell bottoms and hip huggers have turned into Gloria Vanderbilt stretch denim....after reading the posts this AM I felt great ....should have read them before I read the posts on radiation fatigue..think iit would have gotten me out of my "funk". I went to my stash of CD's and found one of the 60's women (maybe from Starbucks) ..anyway I blasted those tunes all the way to and from my rads this afternoon and didn't even mind the traffic...also my cute little rad tech. Carly, slipped it into the CD player during Tx., too!!
Keep posting everyone I just love to think of all these things...oh, just thought of another couple ones....Boondogles at summer camp and making those chains out of gum wrappers ( coveted foil ones esp.) Blessings to all Sharon F.

"Danger, danger Will Robinson". Ohhh, I loved Dave Mason. I know everyone remembers Johnny Carson but what I wouldn't give to watch him every night again! Remember having to wear swimming caps?

So much of what is mentioned here brings back awesome memories, kinda tickles inside.

My grandma healed everything with Vicks, on a wash cloth, safety pinned around your neck. If that didn't work you got a laxative! (Oh my gosh...remember enema bags!?)

Okay, I took a turn for the worst. Better quit for a while.

Hey neighbor - I have been searching for affordable opening day tix at Busch for my husbands 50th b-day next week. It is going to be quite an event, don't you think? Are you going? We are big card fans and for father's day last yr we purchased a brick in memory of my father-in-law who was also quite a fan. I love McCartney and have a friend whose brother was at his concert in CA w/Frankie Valli and met Paul back stage. She copied the pic for me and I have it on my fridge. What a hotty still! jt

Hey jt - there are only 500,000 single game tix avail for the whole season. I usually end up getting some from someone, but I don't know who is going to come thru for opening day. I was able to go to all World Series games in '82 and I was at a few this past season Maybe, at least someone will offer for the first week or so. Tomorrow morning at 9am, I will be on line trying to get some, so I don't have to rely on the genorosity of my friends with season tix- GO CARDS!

Hubby has his CD, Spam and tuna with cream sauce on toast we ate that a lot. Saturday was grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for lunch! My mom you could bank on her food! I loved cream sauce, which my mom thought was funny they ate it in the depression because that was all they could afford. Come to find out, Hubby's family had chickens, so they only ate chicken.
