Mary!!! HOW AWESOME!!!! I am so happy for you! My appointment for the first Mammo after treatment is on 8/21. I know it is going to be a hard day for me as well. See? We really are moving on and your new adventure sounds more fun that just the hike! You go Girl!
-
Mary, that is the best news this week!! Sooooo happy for you. And as you know, there is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday but I can't seem to find Someday! We have to make Someday fit into our calendar because it won't happen on it's own.
I have been researching financing options for the pool ... I am pretty sure I am going to do it. I don't want to pull equity out of the house to do it or put it on a credit card and pool financing is a bundle of interest. Think I found an 8% loan fixed without having to pay fees or re-fi the house!
I am listening to my new IPOD tonight. My other one is in the repair place, the little wheel wouldn't scroll anymore!! I am sitting here listening to my "Power of Pink" playlist I made .... and I cry and think of us all having the wings to fly! Celine Dion rocks ..... My daughter likes that Kylie Minogue song, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and the Nelly song, "Hot in Herre" LOL, she is 5 and loves Hip Hop!! -
Tracy:
Thanks for your encouragement. You are my role model for getting out there and really living the life you want to live. I really like your spirit!
Kelly:
Hope the pool is in soon enough for you to really enjoy it. You are in California so will the weather be good enough into the fall? I have a suggestion for your "Power of Pink" playlist. Last August I purchase an Olivia Newton-John CD "Stronger Than Before" at Hallmark with songs all dedicated to women who are survivors (of lots of things, not just BC), but the proceeds all were to benefit research. If you can find a copy, that CD is great for "Power of Pink." You'd probably love it. If you can't find it, e-mail me and maybe we can do a "loan" by mail.
I'm interested in knowing other selections on your playlist.
Mary -
Oh Mary, thanks so much, but I don't really feel like I am livning a life that I want to live--at least not yet...
Kelly - I love the pool idea and good financing too!
I would like to find a copy of the Olivia Newton John CD, wonder if Hallmark still sells it? We should make our own "Rocktober Girls Living Life" CD and burn copies for everyone!
Hey! WE CAN DO THAT! If you all want to send me the songs that you want on it. I will download them from I-tunes or one of the sites and then burn CDs for everyone!!! What do you think???
Send me the names of songs and who sings them! I will see if I can find some pink CDs!
Not much going on here today, I hope you are all out enjoying the weekend! -
I will also put on the CD cover who sent in the song request so that all of our names are on the CD!
FUN!!! -
Do you have ITunes, Tracy? I made an IMix already and put it on the web. Amy and I both posted our playlists in the moving on forum under the thread I started called IPods.
-
Mary... wonderful news about the clear mammo!!! YES!! And the sailing adventure sounds very cool!
Tracy..that's a neat idea. I will need to think of a song...hmmmmmmmm...I love the oldies station on the radio that we've been listening to in my girlfriend's car. Very cool. Brought back so many memories....
Kelly..good luck on that pool idea.
I leave tomorrow night for Florida and the last two weeks of my trip here. I can't believe I'm heading towards the end of it when I wasn't even sure I was going to go on it at all!!! -
Tracy:
Great idea!! I would love a "Rock-tober" CD. It would be a most cherished gift to me. And for doing that, I will knit you a pair of pink socks/slippers/booties in exchange. Providing you want pink. I would do any other color if that would be more to your liking. I would just need you to send me either a tracing of your feet (for the best fit) or your shoe size. I think I sent you my address in an earlier PM. If not, sent me a message and we can connect. As soon as I stop typing I'm going to check out the playlist you guys mentioned.
In fact, everyone, listen up . . . . I have a sock/slippers frenzy right now and I have been thinking about offering all of you a pair of pink socks. So, send me a private message and we can set things up. I love knitting socks. You can take them everywhere, knit in all the odd moments of the day, and they finish up pretty quickly into something that is really fun and nice to have. As soon as I get my first pair of "Rocktober" socks done I'll get a picture up here.
Ravedeb: travel safely and really have a wonderful trip. We will miss you for a bit, but look forward to your return to the boards. All the best to you, dear friend!

Well, the Olivia Newton-John CD is available from Hallmark. Go to the website, www.Hallmark.com, and in the search box type in the name of the CD, "Stronger Than Before." It costs $9.95. I guess they haven't made it available on iTunes. I don't know how that works. Anyhow, the whole CD is dedicated to anyone who has faced cancer or any other difficulty that is life changing. Every song is meaningful, but the title song is one that every woman we know can relate to.
I am attracted to so many of the songs on your playlists and I am still thinking about my own suggestion for Tracy's kind offer of a "Rocktober Girls" CD.
Have a good one today! -
OK, everyone, send me your song selection for the CD! I will work on it!
Mary - I love the idea of all of us having pink socks that match!!!! I will send you my info!
It may take me a little while to get the CD done, but send me the songs and know that I am working on it!
Hope you all have a good Monday (I really dislike Mondays...)
Love ya!
Tracy -
Amy and Kelly - do you each want to pick one favorite from your play list?
-
Invincible by Pat Benatar. It's the one song that made me push myself through treatment to still exercise, the song that makes me feel strong when I get scared of a recurrence, it's the most empowering.
On a completely, random, non-cancer related topic (don't you love those?)....my husband and I are probably going to put a contract on our first home tomorrow I'm freaking out because I don't want it to fall through (our contract is less than the asking price, but the sellers love us). It's an adorable townhouse in Alexandria. I'm freaking out Our first home. Any suggestions with doing this contract stuff?
Love,
Amy -
Hi Amy -
Can't offer contract advice but... my fingers are crossed -hoping that you will get the house! So exciting...
Laura -
Go for it, Amy!!! Good luck and hope you get your dream house.
Mary -

-amy -
WHAT???? Ravdeb gets to see the famous Nipples??????
Oh man, she will just have to tell us how Nippleicious Amy reall is! -
now, now...she's just meeting me, the nipples will be staying under wraps although, i must say...they look fantastic! i highly recommend them if anyone was debating it.
-
Hey ladies! How is everyone doing? I just read the last page but I'll catch up when I get home later in the week.
Ocho Rios was wonderful and I am soooo rested, well at least I was until I went out last night and drank four Heinekens! I didn't wake up until almost 10am! -
welcome back we want pics of your trip!!!
-
Amy - good luck on the house...and the stitches!! I'm so glad you'll get to meet Ravdeb!!!
Ta-Dah! I'm so glad you're back and that you had a nice time!! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Hope you are all staying cool and having a great week so far!! Can't believe it's already August...my "baby" will be 4 on Saturday!! -
tda, did you notice your new nickname is Ta-dah!!!
-
Just saying "HI!" to everyone. Can you see me waving at you? I am melting here in HOT, HOT western New York. At work even though we do have good air conditioning I have a little fan that I sit right in front of my desk. Whoosh!!!
How are all of you doing in the heat?
Paula, is it cool down there in Australia now? By cool, I mean some where south of 90 degrees.
Glad I'm not feeling like I did last winter in this heat, if you know what I mean.
Good day to everyone!
Mary -
Amy: Hope you get the house! Having good nipples that match is one of the advantages of having a bilateral and reconstruction.
Rosemary: MY "baby" will be 11 on Saturday!
Mary: I don't have air-conditioning. We had a heat wave for a couple of weeks and it was sweltering!
My MRI showed "tendonitis, bursitis and muscle tear - no wonder there was pain". Isn't that great news? -
Hi ladies!
Amy..got the e-mail..so NOT on line now but will contact you when I get to your area!
Welcome back Ta-dah!!!!
Brenda..feel better..sounds like awful pain! YUCK!
Rosemarie..happy birthday to your baby!
Amy..good luck with a house..very exciting!
Must run. have a great weekend everybody!!! -
Brenda, for us, bursitis, tendonitis and muscle tears are FANTASTIC news!! I am so happy for you!! (and how warped are we??? 2 years ago we'd be feeling sorry for you!)
-
Just popping in girls, thinking about all of you...I have been swamped with design projects lately - I can barely keep up with it all. But it's amazing - I never run out of ideas or graphic designs. During chemo I really thought my creative juices were gone forever!
Ravdeb & Amy - you are meeting tomorrow?!
Brenda -
Hang in there - glad it's nothing worse! Happy birthday to your 11 year old!
Rosemarie -
And your little one will be 4! Have lots of fun.
Luv you all,
Laura -
Okay folks, I missed you guys. I am reading my snail mail and returning phone calls. I see I have a new nickname and I want to read backwards to see when and how all this transpired.
Hopefully no-one stole my camera (in that lucky dip they have called customs!) and I'll download the photos to share with you all. -
