    Tracy:
It's kind of sappy but a song that always inspires me is "One Moment In Time" by Whitney Houston, on her Greatest Hits album. I just heard it play on the radio and I got a lump in my throat because of how it makes me want to strive to be my best.

    Another suggestion:

"We Are The Champions" by Queen

We are the champions - my friends
    And we'll keep on fighting
    Till the end
    We are the champions
    We are the champions
    No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

The one thing that I don't like is the "No time for losers" phrase because it could imply that I or we do not have time to help others less fortunate, which is certainly not true. I'm trying to think how to interpret that line so that it is not negative or exclusionary. Haven't figured it out yet, but I like the song . . . especially the "we'll keep on fighting to the end . . ."

    Tracy:
Okay - one more song. Once I got thinking about this the tunes popped up like dandelions.

    "Don't Stop Believin'" Olivia Newton-John

I would love the irony of a song by Queen on the same CD as a song by Olivia Newton-John.

    Lyrics:
You think the world should see things your way
Love, I know you, you think good fortune's here to stay
Love, I know you shined in everything you tried before
Your smile can open any door

But on those days when nobody wants to know you
And all your smiles keep falling on stoney ground
Don't stop believin', don't stop believin'
Don't stop believin', you'll get by
Bad days, bad days will hurry by

You never chase your dreams, they find you
Love, I know you, if you need love, it finds you too
Love, although you sail alone and free
    I'll follow in your wake
And pray one day my heart you'll take

But on those days when nobody wants to know you
And all your smiles keep falling on stoney ground
Don't stop believin', don't stop believin'
Don't stop believin', you'll get by
Bad days, bad days will hurry by

Okay, okay . . . . you can all tell that I'm a generation or two ahead of you. Now if I can just think of a song by the Beatles . . . well, "Let It Be"? Would that work? Perhaps, "Imagine"? That was John Lennon, not the Beatles. I was just telling someone this week that listening to Beatles songs are like listening to the soundtrack of my life. They've been in every moment, event, and memory. Yeah, I think "Let It Be" would be my choice.

Mary (who may just have to create a CD of my own now that I'm on a roll. . . . .)

I am so worried about your son, his girlfriend and all your family and friends back home.

Peace on earth - and a cure for cancer is what we truly need! I hope both happen in our lifetime. I still need your address - as I have something very funny that I want to send to you! It may even evoke a much-needed "chuckle" from those around you when you get back home...

    Laura - thank you!
I hope freight cost wasn't too painful for you...
Australia is a beautiful place, but so damn far from everywhere!!!
Hey what about the security business at London airport?? My trip is due soon, and i am really looking forward (insert sarcasm) to not being able to take anything on the plane with me!! No books, no toopaste, no iPods...
but i guess if you consider an alternative, its not too bad!

Lord, all this drama in the skies! I live on an airplane practically but this is making me nervous.

When I was on my way to Jamaica I truly thought I was going to die. The plane fell in the sky I don't know how many feet, everyone went berserk, screaming and carrying on! All I could do was clutch my pearls and breathe deep. Luckily I could see land so I figured the rescue boat may have reached me before I drowned.

On the plus side, those of us with emough nerve left to take to the skies, there will be some cheap transatlantic flights coming up, get them credit cards ready!!

Ravdeb! I will wait for your song as we can't have a CD without a selection from you!!! Send it on when you get home. Anyone else want to be included? For those of you that choose multiple songs, I will make sure one of them gets on and use the others if I need to fill space. I really want each of us to be represented! So, if you haven't sent a song, please send me one!

Well - so much to catch up on and ive only missed two days!
Legoland was fantastic - will post some pics tomorrow. I had the wettest clothes from the water rides, i am the champion lego fireman and shouted the loudest at the baddies in the Jonny Thunder jetski show. i think the kids enjoyed it too!
Our hotel was only 3 miles from Heathrow airport so things were chaotic. We went to Windsor Castle today which is also close to the airport. My kids seem to think they put in the xray machine, extra armed guards and cancelled the changing of the guard because they had heard of my reputation - im sure it wasnt , but then who knows!
I have a parcel waiting at the post office - isit my shirt i wonder
Tomorrow , if the weather holds i am going up up and away!

    Take care everyone

True to the English weather my balloon flight was cancelled due to high winds. I have to rebook during the week.
laura - the shirts are beautiful , i guess the main post office sorting office wasnt the place to stand and cry as i opened them but needs must. Roger thought the first aid kit was hysterical - i have put it in the boot of the car! The photo is on my noticebaord near the door so i see it when i go out. You really are clever. ( Catherine thought you were very pretty too !)
    Love you all lots

    Tracy: Thanks!!
If you just need to know the title of my favorite song (nowadays) it would be "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day. The album is American Idiot. I just bought the song for my iTunes. How do I send it to you.
Oh, and I don't know if you've heard of Eva Cassidy. Before she died of cancer she recorded a bunch of beautiful heart wrenching songs in an album called Songbird. Her rendition of "Over the Rainbow" is heart breaking.

today is the year anniversary of finding my lump. i was diagnosed a week later on the 19th. craziness. i had a long fun talk with my mom and then she called back and said, "i like this phone call with us better than last year's" i started crying thinking of how scared my parents must have been knowing their daughter had cancer.

instead of being terrified like last year on this day, my husband and i played golf with our best friends, my brother is visiting from nyc, and we're having a huge party tonight. what a difference a year makes.

    love,
    amy

Debbie - love the pictures!! So glad you had a great time -sorry to hear your balloon ride was cancelled!!
Amy - ((((hugs)))))!! So glad this August is better than last!!
Tracy - if I come up with a song I'll let you know

I swear...every weekend I seem to be dealing with some emergency...today we spent 4 hours mopping up water after my washing machine decided to empty out onto to the floor!! UGH!!! What a mess!! The water was draining into the air conditioning vent and emptying out into the basement!!! At least today's emergency didn't include an emergency room !!

Brenda - thinking about you as school starts!! Have you started back already???
    Have a great night ladies!!

Aint that the truth! Last year this time I was trying to wring all the fun I could out of the summer because my mastectomies were scheduled.

Today I went to the city to pay my Bergdorf Goodman bill and ended up at Tiffany buying fragrances and pretty things.

A darned good afternoon I'd say, AND I found a parking space on the street! In Manhattan on the weekend, that's no mean feat!

Amy, did you take time off for the nipple work? I'm scheduled for a Wednesday and was thinking of taking the rest of the week off. I dare say its necessary but I like to keep people at the office thinking I'm such a martyr for being at work all the time!! If I showed up at work on Thursday they'd think this cancer thing was a picnic!!

Rosemarie: Thanks for thinking of me. I have been trying to get back into my classroom since July, but I won't be allowed to do this until the 22nd of August. So I have been reading a lot, and I think I've told you guys about the workshop I went to. It's about how the brain learns and what the teaching implications are. I went there on my own and I re-learned a whole bunch of things. Kids will start in September, right after Labor Day.
I know that you're a teacher, too. How have you been doing? Are you ready?
