I am still in a state of euphoria after yesterday's get together!! I have a silly little grin on my face and I keep looking at the pictures over and over - such an awesome experience. Thank you Laura, btw!!
I would love-love-love to meet you all in person - Laura put it so well when she said how much of an emotional bond she feels with everyone - it is such a bond!
Brenda - hope all goes well on Wednesday - I'll be thinking about you!!
Paula - I know you feel great about your haircut - isn't it fun!!
Amy - I sure hope you are able to meet Ravdeb!! So cool!! Also hope you're feeling well from all your recent "stuff"
Lots of love to you all!!(I guess I really say ya'll...:) ) -
rosemarie...i say "ya'll" too....virginia beach is where i grew up and it's not that southern or anything, but i always say, "ya'll". some of my patients make fun of me
-
HEY Y'ALL -
Lots of bc.org girls are going to Las Vegas the second weekend in November. Maybe us Rocktober girls could all meet there too? What do you think?
Laura -
Laura..
Thanks for posting all those pictures! I have that silly grin on my face too, Rosemarie! It was really a great time.
My dh called me tonight and the first thing he wanted to know was how our get-together was. He wanted to know all the details and wants to see pictures!!!
Amy...we will meet..let's make it happen!
-
Gosh, i miss a few days and look what happens!!!! Ravdeb - you look fantastic! ( you all do !) but Ravdeb manages to look about 20 years younger than her small picture!
And ----nipplicious! How are you doing? I am sopleased to see good news, really good news appearing on here now!!
I have had a strange week. The car broke down big style on me the other day, in a torrential thunder storm at the side of the dual carriage way, yes with the kids and the shopping in the back! A months wages later and we have it back thank goodness - we go away in 4 days!
We took the kids canoeing in the week, which was fun
On Sunday we went mountain boarding. I have found that my calling is not to be a world champion mountain boarder ( unless you get points for the biggest tyre burns or grass stains!) I can hardly move now i am so stiff. Everyone else enjoyed it, the kids seem to be naturals and i think the instructor has now recovered from me grabbing him as i went past amd pulling him over! I guess i am too old to be racing downhill on a board at 25mph!
Lets see some more pics,
Debbie -
is my new nickname "Nipplicious"? i love it
i may be interested in the vegas weekend...gotta check with the hubby we have a bunch of weddings in the fall. -
yikes Debbie! And I'm giving up a 2-hour bike ride along Lake Michigan today because I don't think I'll make it for 2 hours! I'm going to walk it while they ride bikes. All the power to ya for going down a mountain side like that. OMG!
And it seems I'd better get a new avatar if I look OLD in that one! OMG! I mean..I AM old but I don't have to look it!!!!!!
Hey Nippleicious...love your new name -
Just chiming in to say, "WOW - you women are gorgeous!!!"
I also feel teary-eyed just reading about your meeting. You had us all in your hearts, I know. But, are you sure the Revdeb you met with is really the Revdeb we thought we knew? Ravedeb, I wouldn't say you look old . . . I'm your age and I don't think either one of us is old. Here is something to think about. "You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt, as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hole, as old as your despair." (Paul H. Dunn) So, by my reckoning and by what I have read and experienced from you . . . you are one of the youngest people I know.
Happy day to all! -
You girls look Fantabulous!!!
Rav-deb, you need to change your avatar! You are so young!! Your hair is beautiful, I cannot believe it is white at your age!
The three of you look so happy and so beautiful! -
Debbie, thank God the car only broke down and you didn't roll it over this time!!
-
Debbie -
Have you considered riding a bike instead of driving a car - for all of your transportation needs! LOL
Brenda -
I'm hoping your arm pain is nothing serious. Let us know what the rad onc says.
Amy -
Oops...I mean Nipplicious, congrats on the nipples! I am so happy for you! And, I was laughing my butt off when you wrote that you were walking around "gingerly" because you were afraid they'd fall off. OMG! LOL LOL LOL
Paula -
Congrats with the first haircut!
ravdeb -
Hope you enjoyed the lake today! It is really hot!
And -
I wonder if tda is behaving in Jamaica? NOT...I'm sure she'll make history!
Laura -
my fat necrosis that was removed was negative. negative. negative. negative. i'm so freakin' happy. i love the sentence, "no evidence of malignancy".
love, nipple (seriously, they're spectacular) -
HURRAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for nipplicious!
I laughed about the bike - I actually got admitted to hospital when i was 14 for coming off of my bike and hitting a cottage roof in Wales on a cycling weekend!! Bike was bent virtually double but i just had a few grazes and a sore pride! I think if i was a cat i would be down to about 2 lives now!!!!!!
Debbie -
Debbie -
OMG - I am LOL
I really think you should consider wearing a crash helmut when you drive, whether it's a bike, car or whatever! LOL
Laura -
Debbie.......Haaaaaaa......that goe's ditto for me....I don't think I would want to meet you on the road..lol
Graycie -
Amy/Nipplicious...YES!!!! B9.....YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!wohooooooooo!!!! Way to go, Girl!!!
Kelly...I AM old... I'm 51. It's YOU who is young!!!! I turned gray at the ripe old age of 30..hence the white hair today without color. Had been coloring my hair a natural black (was naturally black til the gray)for like 20 years already..premature graying thanks to my grandmother who was white in her twenties.
marymelodi...very nice words. you are so very kind and sweet. But I feel like I'm about 10 - 20 years older than I am thanks to chemo. My mind is still young though!!!!
Debbie... OMG... you are funny! I'd say keep a helmet on at all times!
HOw ya doin' Graycie?
Waitin' to hear from tda (Laura calls her.."Tadah" with that musical lilt in her voice!).
Be well Ladies. I love you all! -
i like that....tadah
isn't funny how we're all in good moods and happy at the same time for the most part? kinda the same, but not really... it's like when close women all get their periods at the same time. when we're all sad, we're all sad and when we're all in good spirits, we seem to all be in good spirits. i think that's because we're so connected to each other which is pretty amazing considering the distance between us all!
where's tracy? -
Nippilicious ........ you're so right!! But then you are our resident dr around here! I am so happy for you that you are perfectly wonderful!! Before being negative was a bad thing ... for us being negative is FANTASTIC news.
Tadah!! Oh, I like that, wait til she gets back and finds her new nick is tadah!! LOL
Ravdeb, I was doing some research about chemo, tamoxifen and women. The article was at the American Cancer Society website and it said the chemo will age us about 10 years. I truly feel it. I had been wondering why I feel so old when I wake up. My feet feel like planks and don't want to bend. My knees don't cooperate either. It takes about 15 minutes for the joints to warm up. -
Maybe it's a southern thing or a country thing, but I always read tda as "ta-dah," like when the magician whips off the handkerchief to show the rabbit has disappeared.
I grew up on an Illinois farm and then lived south of the Mason-Dixon line for 20 years before moving to Minnesota. Now I'm starting to sound like the characters in the movie, "Fargo." LOL -
Kelly -
I have the same complaints! Feet, knees, fingers, neck, back, hips... Interesting about the 10 years. I didn't know that.
Where's maryanne?
Laura -
Laura, love your new tag line! Was that your motto at Hedonism?
-
Kelly - i have the same legs and feet too, i thought i just needed to take more cod liver oil! I am glad i am not imagining it though, i feel about 60 when i get up in the morning!
Today is 6 th months since last chemo, also Marks 9th birthday . Went to the hairdressers yesterday - it looks a lot neater but i seemed to have a massive pile of hair on the floor - i felt like shouting STOP!!
I would like it known that I am pretty safe in a car - I have never actually hit anything else in my 4 years of driving!
DEbbie -
Oh, you guys! Feeling old? I am old at 53 . . . I sure hope this is not what 63 will feel like. I got an explanation yesterday for one of my aches. I have developed a stress fracture in my left 5th metataursal - that's the bone running along the outside edge of my left foot, back of my little baby toe. How did it happen? My theory, and the Dr. agrees, is that when I began to get active again with walking, Jazzercise, and hiking I did too much too soon. So, now I have this barely visible but painful crack in my bone. It has not really broken - no cast. The treatment is rest & Advil. No impact activities. For exercise I can swim, bike, or use an elliptical trainer. Also, I need to wear different shoes (ka-ching!) and get some orthotics (double ka-ching!). I am frustrated and slightly discouraged. I need to exercise - for so many reasons, as you know. Walking is the most convenient thing. I like to walk. I loved jazzercise. But, a foot that hurts makes everything hurt. Gr-r-r-r-r . . . so I have to go more slowly and my anniversary hike is now probably not going to happen.
I am still planning to celebrate being alive during that week. Just have to think of how to do it in a "safe" way. Any suggestions? -
Hey Everyone,
It has been pretty busy around here so I haven't posted in a while but I have been checking periodically since I was curious about the meeting of our three "Rocktober" girls and I have to say you all look BEAUTIFUL. What great pictures and what great looking hair you all have. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
Amy, or should I say Nipplicious, lol......I hope you are lucky enough to meet up with Ravdeb and I hope your nipples are doing good. Wonderful news about the neg. report on the fat necrosis.
Brenda, Good luck today with your visit to your ONC. I also have a very BIG hard lump under the scar but they keep telling me it is just scar tissue. I have an appointment with the BS on Saturday so I will see what he has to say. My Mammo and sonogram showed NED but that was a couple months ago. I guess you always worry.
I can't believe all the haircut's already. I had a dream last night that I lost my wig and I had a panic attack. I had no choice but to go out in public and it was awful. I think I have a problem......HAAAAA.
Debbie, That's too bad about your car breaking down but with your track record it is better than an accident. Glad you didn't fall down the mountain. I do give you a lot of credit for trying. It does sound like fun........OK, I take it back about the driving, I see your new post with your driving record. I guess one out of 4 isn't too bad.
Yes, Ravdeb, time for a new avatar. Look who's talking? (I don't even recognize myself.) It is hard to see your beauty in the one you have (too little)....... I am going to try and post a new one myself. No, you don't look old. I just realized I think I am the oldest one of the bunch and believe me I am starting to feel it.
I can sympathize with the aches and pains. I am not on tamoxifen or anything so what is my excuse? It must be from the chemo or old age in my case is setting in. I have to get back to exercising. I am good for a week or two and then I slack off.
I hope I got to all of you, Kelly, How are you doing?
I hope it is a beautiful day where you all live, Have a Good one....
Graycie -
Marymelodi,
I didn't see you there. We must have been posting at the same time. I am sorry to hear about your foot. Are you able to go to work? Swimming might be good for you if you like swimming. Not sure what to suggest for your one year anniversary. Something relaxing I guess.........Oh by the way, I am older than you. I just turned 57.
Take care,
Graycie -

Laura, love your new tag line! Was that your motto at Hedonism?
Kelly -
You are quite the comedian! LOL
Laura -
Sorry about the size - couldnt get it smaller
This is me grassboarding ( look close - there i am flat on my back on the grass on the nursery slopes!)
Here is Mark - who really showed me up by behaving as if he was born attatched to a board. POwerslide indeed - i had all on staying upright!!
Mary - i have done that before - twice. My dr said it was a March fractured - so called because it was common in soldiers in the first world war who were made to route march in ill fitting boots. Not sure where i got it - perhaps its because i am so delicate- LOL!!
DEbbie -
Oh my word, Debbie, I think I would need a bigger board to lay down more comfortably!! I don't think I would try to go down the hill upright!
Graycie, you have to have hair under there, don't you?? My hair is super short, not more than 1/2 inch all the way around. -
Perhaps that where i was going wrong! I should have had a bigger board and lay down! Perhaps then i wouldnt have so many burn marks.
I too am waiting to see Graycies hair. I have got used to mine now.
Debbie -
Ravdeb, I didn't mean your beauty was too little......lol. I meant the picture was too little. That didn't come out right....haaa
Debbie, love the picture's. Mark is so cute..
Girls, How do you post a new avatar? Do you just enter it over the old one or do you have to delete the other one.....You can see I am a computer dummy....I wonder how I ever did it in the first place.....I will play around today and see what I can do if I get a chance but my son is here from Las Vegas, surprise visit...I had no idea he was coming he just showed up on my doorstep this morning, what a nice surprise. It is Great to see him. I may be going to Las Vegas in November to visit him and his wife. It depends when the baby arrives (their baby, not mine, ha) so who know's I may be able to catch up with the BC girls that are meeting there.
Graycie
