Laura, I love the photos! The stinker!!! LOL and the girls walking in the garden is just so yummy!!
-
V --- glad you are back. You need to be with your sisters and I am glad that you decided not to abandon this place. This is your heart and it would be too hard to see posts that cheer on little Isaac or new haircuts!
-
Laura, I love the picture's. What are you talking about you look great. The little girl's are precious. The picture's are priceless and look like they came out of a magazine.
-
Tracy my mother-in-law has a sore just like Dave's on her ankle. Believe it or not she has had it almost 2 yrs now. She finally got this special ointment(very expensive) and it it finally starting to heal. Hopefully his heal's a lot quicker. He is also a lot younger. Is he a diabetic by any chance?
-
Graycie - yes he is. He lost his leg a couple of years ago due to an infected sore--the infection got into the bone. So this is pretty scary. He waited too long to go to the Dr. with it - he knows better. MEN!
He said that he tried that ointment before and that it finally worked but it took a long time.....
Laura - beautiful pics! I love the style!
I am still watching the Oscars - I am SO GLAD Jennifer Hudson won! I watched her whole season on Idol and I can't belive how far she has come so quickly!
Well, time for dessert - sugar free jello w/ sugar free cool whip! YUM!!!
Love you all! -
Whats a stinker??
Laura - lovely wedding pics! I really am not keen on mine - a friend of my father in laws who is a photographer did ours ( before digital) and they are just ordinary, not much thought or imagination in them. I keep telling Roger when we are married 25 years i am having them done again.
Paula - have you refreshed everything?? Its bizarre isnt it. Perhaps the lost posts and your view of the atvar are hiding with Ravdebs mail somewhere??
Tracey - I am glad Delightful Dave has you to look out for him now. Tell him to watch it or he will have all of us on rota duty, making sure he takes care of his leg!!
OK, got to go to work now
Debbie -
Great pictures everybody.
Laura..your mail box really got its head chopped off! Geez!
wedding pics are lovely..
V..great pics..love the desert in the background. You will do fine in your new space. Kind of puts a new spin on life...
Paula..maybe you need to just take the avatar out and do it again. Weird..it looks great. Too bad you can't see it, though!
Tracy..make sure Dave takes care of that leg!
Brenda..yes..I know your mom is okay..just that you weren't on so the mind begins to wander... of course you can join us as long as we have room. Michele made reservations, we pay when we get there. soooo...
Michele..how many people can we put in the room? I'm willing to pack it solid but not sure what others think. Still waiting to hear from Jill...Right now it's Michele, Paula, me and possibly Jill... Brenda is for sure, though..what shall we do??? I would put 5 in if it's allowed.
Heck..I'd put 6 and we did that once! We were allowed 5 and we added a 6th. oops. Boy..that was fun!
Cathy..you are a natural negotiator. Your words always make sense and help put things into perspective.
Thanks for the concerns about my girlfriend. I spoke to her and am very worried. They always ask for more views because she has scar tissue from an excisional biopsy she had 23 years ago which was benign. But this time they saw something new apparently..even in the ultrasound.
She has been playing phone tag with the doctor..can't get him on the phone to find out what she should be doing about all of this. Hopefully today she'll catch him.
Be well everybody... -
Hello everyone,
Been away for half term with the kids - prior to that I am now having to fight the kids to get one the PC as I have bought a new PC game for myself - Da Vinci Code - the kids got their hands on it and - well the PC is constantly occupied.
I am sorry that there has been some bother since I last visited the site - I hope everyone can rise above it.
We went to London by train (just managed to miss a large train crash here by going on the east coast line and not the west coast line) - certainly rather scary. We did the touristy stuff - Tower of London, Madame Toussads - we also went to see two shows "Les Miserables" (my favourite) and "We will Rock You" which is like Mamma Mia but with Queen songs and Ben Elton's humour (Debbie will know what I mean)
They were great and we had a super time - but EXHAUSTING. I cannot remember when I last felt that I had some spare energy - probably well over a year ago.
I think I will PM Laura to find out the lastest arrangements for August. Still unsure whether I will be able to get across.
Hope everyone is well and getting on with life - my best wishes to all. Cheers Jill -
MaryAnne and I are planning to room together, but I don't mind if we have more in our room. We will need to check with her when she gets back. I have an Aerobed that I could pack along with me..... I agree the more to a room the better! MaryAnne might have something different to say though! She might want to do something silly like SLEEP!!! :-)
I am thinking I will need to take a recovery day off when I get home! I am so excited! August will be here before we know it! -
Almost done. I go into the chemo center and get my 2nd to last infusion of Herceptin. I think I am the last one to be done?
Teryn goes to school early this morning to see a real cow that will be there. We have lots of dairies in the area, so the kids are all excited. Normally, Teryn is a latebird and my infusion would fall between her school hours. Wouldn't you know that they changed her schedule last minute and she will be getting out right when I have to start. So, another parent is picking her up and dropping her off after I get home.
Hope everyone is ok today.... I am sleepy and will be even more tired after my treatment so will probably nap alot today. -
It is snowing again...argh. This morning's drive was another adventure but made it here safely...whew!
Back to my curls again today, what a difference from straight hair.
Paula - I now see your new avtar, your gorgeous girl!
Kelly - yah, countdown to finishing treatment!
Deb - we are allowed 4 in our room. Maybe we can hide under the beds...hee hee
Jill - hello, hope you can make it to our Cheetah Fest.
Have to go and do some work now.
Love to you all.
Michele -
Hey Kelly congrats on being so close to the end of the Herceptin trail. By my calculations only three more weeks! I do believe you are the last following Mary-Anne and me. It's been a long trail for you. Next stop reconstruction. We have a lot in common there too.
How very funny that a cow is visiting Teryn's school. Cows abound here on the prairie but not so many dairy cows any more.
Have a good rest.
Cathy -
Hey Lympodema girls.... I have a question.
Do you get a rash when your Lymphodema acts up? Mine knuckles are swollen and sore and so is the area above my elbow on the back of my arm. I figure it is lymphodema, but I also have a red rash on my knuckles - I didn't remember this being part of it......
I have an appt. with a Physical Therapist on Wed. but I am not so sure that he is trained in Lymphodema. He tells me that he can help but I will need to evaluate that after my first appt. I guess. I sure don't want it to get any worse - my hand and arm are sore too! -
Tracy
Sorry to hear you have lymphodema. The areas I get problems with are under my armpit and straight on down to my wrist from there. I have not had rashes and not heard anything about rashes being part of it at all.
My only thought is to ensure that you get a specialist - they are very rare in Scotland - and I was lucky enought to get the best (she teaches it) What a difference! It is very specialist and it would be unlikely that a normal physio would have all the techniques.
Hopes that helps
Jill -
Tracy..I don't know anything about rashes and swelling but I hope you get some solution to that. Doesn't sound pleasant.
Jill..so glad to see you are back!!!! So, maybe if you do come, we can either hide somebody under the bed (that's what Michele said, not ME!)or one of us will share in another room...I'm sure we will get it worked out.
And now tell here are two stories of how we got extra people in hotel rooms. The last one was a slumber party in a downtown Chicago hotel for my college friends. There are 6 of us and we all showed up (unusual!) We were celebrating our 40th birthdays. Only 5 in a suite were allowed. We had two double beds and a sofa bed. So...five of us walk nonchalantly into the hotel and go up to the desk to check in. Our sixth one walks in a few minutes later, sits down on a chair, opens a newspaper and hides behind it. After we got our room number and keys, the five of us walk to the elevator and as we pass the sixth one who is hiding behind the newspaper, one of us says..."what room number was that?" And another one says loudly the room number. We go up and shortly later the 6th one knocks on the door!
One of the girls brought an air mattress.
I am sure you do NOT have to be so dramatic to do this..but if we hadn't done that, it would have ruined all the fun!
The first time we did something like this was when we were in college. I think we put about 8 of us or more in a Motel 6 room! We stuffed inside one girl's Volkswagon beetle and layed on the floor so that only two people were seen. They went in to check in and we snuck in the back! We all layed across the bed, on the floor and in the bath tub! We only did this to see if we could do it without getting caught. Of course, we did! -
Well, I have dropped Teryn off at school. Our school is pretty neat. They have a school camp-out at the beginning of the year, parent-child dances and now today: the cow.
Teryn has been to some stables in the area and even got her own free range egg. That was just so exciting for her. Corona still has a lot of horse property and the surrounding areas still have the dairies (summertime flies). I don't mind the smell in the morning, it's a fresh smell to me instead of smog!! The smell reminds you of what Corona used to be. I'd prefer to live in a more rural area but California is so expensive.
Rconstruction should happen soon. I filled out all my paperwork and just waiting to find out when I would be able to fit it in my schedule and the doc's! -
Kelly..I'm excited that you are at the end of the treatments. It's been a long haul! Reconstruction and you will be done! WHEW!
I find it funny that Teryn will get to see a cow! We have them here on the kibbutz that is walking distance from our house. All the pre-schoolers go there for a school trip! But, I used to walk my kids in the stroller to the kibbutz to look at the cows when they were babies. Just a part of life here! -
Kelly -
Congrats! One more to go! Must seem like it's been forever. -
I was cheating as my LE has improved tremendously, no sleeves, day or night. Its not completely disappeared by its reached a baseline reduction.
Well didn't I make chinese food with black bean sauce and I think the sodium swole my arm up again!! I wore my night sleeve and it went back down and I'm wearing the day sleeve because I'm flying later on.
I don't get any rashes Tracy (thanks for the card, isn't love grand?!) but different things affect people differently. LE is a lot of work but you get used to it. How is yours doing Rosemarie? -
Kelly -
Have you seen those Happy Cows of California tv commercials? I don't have cows, but I do have deer! I just put some food out for them: -
No deer - could perhaps run to a hedgehog or two!

This statue is titled The Thinker... -
Horses! We almost got one years back. My dh wanted one. I don't know anything about them but lots of people have them in our town. My youngest took horseback riding lessons when he was in grade school and it is definitely an amazing sport..builds confidence, makes a person feel good, you can travel on them in all different places.
Enjoy them! -
My grands raised cattle for a living, I was around horses til I left home. We had to herd cattle so we had cutting horses. We had to clean out the chicken coop and go find the eggs ..... the chickens would hardly ever lay them in their nests! You'd find them in the jeep, in troughs or in a corner somewhere. We had a dairy barn and a hay barn where we'd jump from the 2nd floor into the hay truck. Oh, we'd get in trouble for jumping into fresh hay instead of leaving the bales together ready to throw out to the cattle or bulls.
Talk about a fun life ... it was so nice to be able to ride all day and not worry about anything. My sister and I would pack our lunch and go off, leaving our parents at the house to hang out with my little brother. We might have a chore or two to attend to out on the ranch ... like move the cows to a different pasture or go find out details on a broken fence ... but summertimes were the best. -
One down one to go or as I used to say in chemo, its the one before the one before the last one!! I know you must be looking forward to the whole infusion thing being over, Kelly. I thought herceptin was a tablet, silly me!!
Well they delayed the flight from 6:59 to 9:53, then pushed it back to 10:13pm, I said to hell with it and called and rescheduled the trip for tomorrow. I told y'all about that Air Tran, but at least they have XM satellite radio for in flight entertainment. And the headsets are free!! Pay off for the aggravation.
Laura: Don't deer carry ticks?! -
well i can see my av on my work pc.. strange. Yes, i had to drag my still very sick self to work today. A girl has to earn a living..
Laura, fantastic pics. You look fab, did then, still do now!!
V, your new place looks like somethiing out of an old western movie. wow..
I am happy to share with as many people as we can possibly fit in a room. The more the merrier!!
Got the quote from my new PS for my recon surgery...all i can say - OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Kelly, I didn't realize you are still on Herceptin......One more after today, that's great.......
How did Teryn like the cow?
Tracy, I don't have lymphedema that I know of but I do have some pain in my arm like Jill and swelling in my hand once in a while but it usually goes' away the next day. It's probably a slight case. Who know's maybe salt does have something to do with it which reminds me I forgot to take my BP pill.......Not sure what the rash could be. Both my hands get a rash sometime's if I have my hand's in detergent too long. Have you been washing your hand's a lot or cleaning? Try some hand lotion and see if that help's.
Also, my husband is diabetic. So far he has been lucky, no problem's. I wish Dave a speedy recovery.
Michele, speaking of Cheetah fest, I bought a cheetah watch today but I think I am taking it back. It's a bangle bracelet and I don't like the way it feel's. It feel's like it is going to fall off.
Ravdeb...lol...that is a funny story about the hotel.
Laura, The deer are cool. My daughter has them in her backyard too. They are very bold they come right up to her deck.....I made the thinker, well tried too out of clay in art class. It was my own version.......lol.....Actually my art teacher loved it so I guess I didn't do too bad.
No horse's for me although my mother was raised on a dairy farm in Canada and had cows, horses, pigs, etc. Sound's kind of like what you had Kelly. I remember it was a lot of fun. My SIL used to have a ranch with 5 horses and an indoor riding coral and my half sister has a barn and 3 horses. It's too bad I never was a horse person. I would have had a lot of opportunities to ride.
TracyNY..I heard about your weather and all the cancellations. I hope you make it out OK tomorrow.
Paula, Sorry you are still not feeling well. Nothing worse than having to go to work sick. -
Hello to everyone:
Unable to post over the weekend. We do not have internet at home right now.
Glad that Victoria has returned. So glad you are feeling okay. Love the pictures of your new dwelling. Hope all goes well.
Kelly_- good for you in coming into the home stretch on treatment. Hope all goes well.
Tracy - have fun on your trip and safe travels. I love how you go shopping in your own house.
Glad to catch up on the new from everyone else. Like most of those in northern latitudes we have lots of snow. So far so good with me on that front.
I'm continuing with the exercise on the treadmill here at the fitness center. My friend and I are a good support for each other and we are trying to get some of our other co-workers to come with us.
Paula - I hope you feel better soon.
Greetings and best wishes to everyone else. It's after 7:00 pm now and I still have to get myself home from work. Tomorrow is a six-month check up with my radiation oncologist. I met her a year ago and now here we are . . . meeting once again. I expect a short, but nice visit.
I'll come back tomorrow and report back to everyone.

Bummer...I hope you are able to fly tomorrow! Yes, Deer carry ticks, but in all my years of hanging out in the forest, I've yet to see one. It will be a miracle if my flight leaves on Wednesday...our weather is horrible too! But I'm bringing my laptop and I'll keep you posted.
Paula -
Thanks for the compliment. Hope you're feeling better soon.
marymelodi -
I wish I had your determination! I just hate to exercise. I wish there was a pill I could take to make me like it! LOL
Graycie -
My township came over today and erected a temporary mailbox. Okay...I don't mean to sound unappreciative, but it looks like hell, how embarassing ...there goes my reputation! LOL
----------------------
I just ran up to the store to get sunscreen and I slid right through a stop sign and almost smashed into a mini van! Very icy, very windy, very scary! OMG - Thank goodness for anti-lock brakes. Michele, I thought of you - when I looked at my white knuckles! LOL -
Oh Laura - hope you are OK. It is absolutely bouncing down with rain here. My front garden is under water - again. The crocus' have just about got their heads above water!! Until this it was feeling just like spring, with th edaffodils and catkins out - now they are going to drown. Plus it will be wet play at school today and i hate that as teh class go hyper.
I am glad we are all coming to th eend of treatment - I feel quite guilty having finished ages ago and some of youare still plodding through.
Mary - good to see you again
Debbie
