Paula..I don't think I've ever had capsicum. I know what it is called in Hebrew..I will look for it this week. Your veggies sound delicious and that's how I cook..lots of fresh stuff stir fried. My favorite!
Not sure Kangaroo meat is kosher. Linda would know. Anyway..we don't have it here! Bet it keeps you hoppin'!
Kelly..love your pool! When my sister lived in Boca in Florida, they had their own pool. Everybody seemed to have their own pool there. Even though it's warm here, very few own pools here because of the water shortage. There are not even that many public pools, though the one in our village is at the end of my street..very convenient!
You look great, Kelly, and Teryn is precious.
victoria..the poem..is that your poem? lovely...I hope you are okay....
I'm going to have a word with my husband about the organic pomegranates. We grow them but he's not into organic anything..lots of work to keep the bugs away. But..that is an idea! Love the idea! We only have one fruit that doesn't get sprayed at all. I keep telling him to do something with this one because it isn't eaten in the States or really anywhere else. We have seen the trees but nobody eats its fruit. Israelis picked up on this fruit, grow all kinds of strains of it and they love it. I keep telling him this stuff..will get back to him on it. The fruit is healthy and low in calories! Great for jams and cooked fruit, eating as is, on salads..you name it. It's called Loquat in English, not to be confused with kumquat. It's not anything like that. -
As per Michele's post.. let's decide where we want to stay and how to go about this.
Here's my suggestion:
1.That we stay in downtown Chicago (so those who have never been can take advantage of the city).
2.Hyatt on Wacker St. seems to be okay.(I think that was the one..need to look again but each of you can look on-line)
3.That we see if we can reserve a block of rooms and maybe get a special rate.
4.That we each pm or e-mail Laura (cuz Laura is in Chicago and can make the call easier)with who we are going to room with so that she can figure out how many rooms to reserve in a block (you can always add or subtract, I think).
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? (Laura..I hope this was okay to suggest..it's just a vote..you can veto at any time! )
My experience with reserving blocks of rooms...my sister and cousins have done this for big events..weddings, etc.. and we were each given a card from the hotel with the rates and how to make reservations. Laura does NOT make our reservations. We each do this individually. So, for example, if I'm rooming with Jill and Michele, one of us would make the reservation for the room and then we would pay for it when we get there. Not sure if there are other conditions for reserving a block of rooms... -
Deb,
Thanks for getting the ball rolling in the right direction. I like the idea of the Hyatt Regency and those that are rooming together have the one person book. Mine would be part of a package deal with flight so dont know how that would work.
The Hyatt Regency Chicago the one on Wacker Dr is very reasonable and got good reviews on service, etc. I may be able to even come in on the Thursday night as it is $930.00 CDN for three nights plus flight and would be even cheaper when we split the cost of the room.
Its really cold here today, stepped outside to put something in my car and brrrrr.
Have a great day off to get ready to start my day.
Michele Wenz -
Wow Kelly, is that the pool you just had made?? Our pool i am afraid is one we take down each Winter, big but still only a blow up. Every one arrives at ours at each weekend with all of their kids in the Summer because of it - if it was like yours i would have to start doing B&B!!
Debbie -
Michele,
I think that you can book the room on your package deal and we will figure out how much the room is separately and then divide that up somehow. Not sure. Must be a way to work that out..we are each coming on different packages from different places.
It's cold here but not THAT cold. I walked over to the clinic to get some insurance papers going for my onc visit next week. I thought it was really cold because it looks like it is. But, it really didn't feel that cold. It's dreary though and windy and they keep saying rain but I haven't seen it. So, I didn't go to the beach..too windy for the beach today.
Stay warm everybody and Kelly..stop gloating! You, too, Paula!!!! -
Go Colts
Quick hello, we've had company in from Tallahassee so been a bit busy. School has been delayed for 2 hours this a.m. due to the temperature/wind chill. It's -3 right now with a wind chill of -20!!! OMG!!!
Beautiful pics of your daughter, Deb! And Teryn looks soo cute too, Kelly!!
Linny - thinking about little Isaac! I know how hard it is to have a little one go through something!! Praying all goes well!!
Lots of love to all of you!! Have a wonderful day - -
OK, just in case anyone wants to feel sorry for me, the temperature this morning is 18 below zero with a wind chill of minus 37. Ye gods! I know I live in Minnesota, but I live about as far south in the state as you can go and still be in Minnesota!
I typically walk three blocks to the bus stop, but I'm getting a ride into work with a friend today. My cold weather gear includes wool socks, silk long-johns, a down-filled parka with a fur-trimmed hood, and wool gloves inside fleece mittens. Oh, and a fuzzy scarf wrapped around my head a couple of times.
Is it this cold in Canada? How about North Dakota? -
Cindy -
It's 12 below here - compared to MN - we're having a heat wave!
Laura -
Laura, you don't have enough clothes on! Get your keister back inside!! I'll have to get my husband to take a picture of me in my full "Nanook of the North" regalia.
-
I didn't have to bundle up "the back side" - there's enough fat on it to keep me nice and toasty! LOL
-
Hi girls,
Since I have received messages from most of you with varying preferences and suggestions, I will start a poll here so everyone can vote (anonymously) on the location (downtown vs. Lincolnshire). Once that's decided, we can go to the next step and vote on what the specific plan will be for the weekend. With so many involved, I really think this is the only fair way to approach it.
Before I start the poll, please PM me with the following info:
Name:
who you're sharing a room with:
day of arrival
day of departure
Laura -
Okay..great idea Laura! WHEW! So many women and so many opinions! YOWWWWW!
OMG.. Cindy I DO feel sorry for you. Want to see you in your Eskimo gear!
Laura..great shot but how do I know that is you???
I do remember the days of downfilled coats and scarves wrapped around my head, lined mittens and long johns and warm boots! I also remember dressing my kids up AND the pre schoolers I used to work with!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! -
Hi All!
I like the idea of a pool - Laura thanks for organizing that. It does make it easier for everyone to voice their opinions without feeling like you are hurting anyone's feelings....
I like the idea of having the hotel put aside a block of rooms, I have done that before. Normally they will do this and give you a date when they will release the block out for other reservations so that you know when your group has to call in by to get rooms in the block.
Maybe we should check on the availability and price of a party suite for one night so that we can also take a poll on if that is what we want to do - this would come after we decide on the hotel for sure.
Love all of the pictures! Ravdeb - your daughter is beautiful I would love to see her dance. Laura you look COLD!!!!! BRRRRRRRRR....... Buddy is such a cutie!
As far as the Pomegranate juice goes - I was drinking it every day but how do we know that we are drinking the best juice possible? They all seem to have a lot of calories and sugar so where is the trade off there? I guess maybe buying it at a health food store would be the best solution?
I try to eat a lot of Broccoli and cabbage. I need to teach Dave not to cook the broccoli to death - I think he ruins a lot of the helpful nutrients. I will work on that one.
My day didn't start out very good - I was just settling down for my hour nap on the bus this morning when the driver pulled over to the side of the Freeway and told us all that we needed to get off of the bus immediately. The Brake shoe was on FIRE! So about 50 of us stood on the side of the Freeway during rush hour until she gave us the go-ahead to get back on the bus. Then we had to wait for the next bus to stop there and pick us up. That bus was pretty full and so was our bus so it was a very COZY ride into Seattle..... Hope that is not an indication of how my day/week is going to go!
Have a good Monday everyone! -
Whoops! I meant that I like the idea of a POLL.... I like Pools too and Kelly's is certainly a nice one - but I wasn't talking about one in this instance! :-)
-
After seeing Laura, I couldn't resist.........forgot to cover my nose and of course I can't see..........haaaa -
Is that really you cheetah lady??? ROFL!
And Tracy...pools vs polls.. that was a good one!
Hope your day goes better Tracy! Teach Dave to either steam the broccoli with a steamer or stir fry. I find that if I stir fry fresh broccoli it doesn't get overcooked because you'd have to stand and stir fry it a long time and that's boring! -
OMG - Graycie you are so funny! I love it!
-
Graycie -
You'll see further proof that we were separated at birth, when I post a photo that I'll have my dh take when he gets home tonight!
Laura -
Tracey - you got on a Debbie bus!!
-
OK, thought of Mary here, but this is fun. I keep looking but havent caught one yet - thinking about letting some roam free!!!
www.bookcrossing.com - find your local wild books on the 'go hunting' section on the left hand side. -
debbie -
Huh...I don't get it! Am I just not the sharpest crayon in the box or what?
Laura -
kelly -
I'm waiting for the daily weather report...
Laura -
Ravdeb - he does steam the broccoli but he steams it until it is soggy. YECK!
Debbie - Yep - you are right a Debbie Bus!!!! LOL!!!
Graycie, you are cracking me up! Love the pic! I ordered some Cheetah print PJs from ebay. I am afraid that they might be too small when they come, but I hope not! -
Nothing worse than soggy brocs! LOL
Laura -
hehehe i love all the pics of you girls being all rugged up.. by the way, did i mention i went to the beach last weekend?
re accomodations - i would love to bring the cost down (remember, the exchange rate works against me) so would be prepared to share with as many as possible! It would be fun, anyway.
I dont mind a foldout bed or something. Heck, i could even sleep in a bathtub! -
Hey girls, How would you like to have one of these? -
Laura, people set books free by leaving them in places, you find them, take them home, then leave them somewhere else etc etc etc( i think they are reading books tho, not colouring books!). They have a number that you have to log on the internet and you can track them. My paper told a story the other day about one being taken up Kilamunjaro(sp) after being found on the Matterhorn!! I am watching some near Mary in Rochester at the moment, waiting for them to be found. I feel really sorry for those that arent chosen!!
-
Graycie -
I LOVE THE DRESSER! That would not be that hard to hand paint...hmmm I just may get out my paint brush and whip one up! (and, btw - OMG - I am still roflmao - I can't help it...! Everytime I think about it...I just can't stop laughing.)
Paula -
I happened to stumble on your "hair thread". You should be very proud of that! Wow - really impressive.
Debbie -
Thanks for the explanation. That is very cool. Are you going to bring one to the USA? Awww...I feel sorry for the lonely ones too! Kind of like me in gym class - I was never chosen for a basketball team because I was only knee high up until the 8th grade! Boo-hoo! And...here we go again...what does "sussed" mean?
Laura -
Cute book idea - there are 7 books listed in my town - so do I go to the location listed and pick up a book??? The first title had to do with Armaggedon...I'll skip that one! Hmmm
Graycie, I know I commented earlier about your cheetah gear but don't see the post...anyway, very cute!
Laura, you skinny thing, what back side???? I feel like giving up on my big Tamoxifen butt...course, I signed up at the gym but haven't gone in at all yet. oops...
My kids are playing a board game...that's code for I think they're about to kill each other...IS IT BED TIME YET??
ok, will check back in later...:) -
Laura, I was thinking the same thing........I might paint one.....heeeeeee.....I can't stop laughing either...OMG
I have to go now........
