Tracy - Have a great dinner (sounds YUMMY) and travel safely..... We will miss you!
-
Tracy have a wonderful time. You always make me laugh!! When my children were small, we had a snack cupboard with chocolate bars, chips etc. I always felt like it had to be hidden from ME, never mind the kids.
Linda -
Tracy, you never cease to amaze me....You are so funny. Have a safe trip. I hope you remember to pack everything.
Debbie, Cool pictures.
Gail -
Mary, I see Rochester on the news, Did you lose your power?
-
Linny:
I got a build-up of fluid in my breast. It can happen. I had 6 weeks of massage and physical therapy for it and the ache has pretty much been relieved. You can continue the techniques once they teach them to you. It really helped me very much.
Mary -
Thanks to all of you that took the time to PM me over the past 2 days. I really appreciate your support!
Debbie -
Your photo of Sam was great! Thanks. Buddy is still hanging out!
Linny -
I still have pain too! Pain Blocker Injections helped me big time. If you want more info...PM me.
Laura -
Buddy Love is still on time out...
-
Cola says that she will let me go in August if at all possible. Please...FREE Buddylove!
Fists up! -
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the nice comments Vickie! How is the exchange going? Have you received the second box yet? The journal is going to be amazing, cant wait to read it. I read your posts often in The Wagon Circle. That thread is huge and so hard to keep up with
Peggy I love your new avtar. You are always a source of inspiration and I so love your funny cartoons especially the one with the big underwear, hee hee.
Linda Im not brave, hate freezing rain. I do payroll for 250 people so had to go into work yesterday as no one would get paid including me! Linny the best of luck getting in to see someone concerning lymphodema, there are not too many doctors qualified in that field. I went to see someone in Guelph at the Physiotheraphy clinic that dealt with breast cancer patients. She was very good when I went to see her last year but no longer works in that clinic. My arm is bothersome at times, it has never been the same since surgery.
Debbie444 love your new picture, so sorry you couldnt do the cheerleading, haa haaJ
TracyNy you are so funny, you ate fruit cocktail for dinner or was that your desert? Enjoy your wonderful cooked meal, sounds delicious.
Victoria I can so relate on the no memory thing and doing stupid things. Tonight I went to the grocery store without a list, stupid move on my part, but I thought hey I wont realize I have forgotten anything because I forget with a list anyway .I was walking down one of the isles and saw some sandwich meat and thought yah I need to buy some salad dressing. I went to go and get something else and thought better go back and get the mayo, well I walked needlessly up the isles trying to remember what I was missing duh forgot the salad dressing again.
How exciting Kelly, Laura and Brenda are meeting up. Take lots of pictures!
TracySeattle cant wait to meet you either.
Rosemarie All the best on your surgery on Friday. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and you are back good as new.
Laura poor buddy love with all those posters. I hope the damn pain leaves soon.
Maryanne is that your dog, its beautiful! We had our first snowfall/freezing rain yesterday, not a fun drive.
Love to you all, have a good night.

Brenda... that is TOO CUTE!!!
-
BRENDA - OMG - BRENDA -
That is awesome! You really did good! But sorry, I have to be firm, but friendly here...Buddy Love stays "kapoot" until the plans are finalized.
Laura -
Ok, ladies, I'm getting ready for bed, but I just wanted to say I love you all...I'm glad we've stayed together. Through thick and thin. The rocktober girls in pink are tough cookies (an expression my mom always uses!)
I do feel bad for Buddy Love and am a bit worried about how long he may stay in his swing! Stay strong, Buddly Love, stay strong! -
-
Amy, thanks for the link!
There are three products that i only ever buy organic:
Milk, eggs and chicken.
Victora - yeah, seems like i am forever dieting with no results.. well, rollerblading again after work 2day - have to work off that piece of chocolate i had with my morning coffee. Chocolate is one thing i can not and will not exclude from my ration!!!
MaryAnee - Chocolate lab? What a beauty! -
maryanne -
Cola is a beauty! I will show Buddy Love his photo and introduce him. Hope your tests went well yesterday. Keep us posted on the results.
Laura -
Vickie..thanks for all the support!
Brenda..Have FUN! I met the cheetah racer and she's tons of fun. You will enjoy every minute! You are a lovely, funny woman!!!!
Kelly..have a good time!! YOu will!!!
Laura..have a safe trip and enjoy those other movie stars!
Chicago is a wonderful city and is actually easier to get around than you think. There is a shuttle that goes up and down Michigan Ave so that you can go from the southern end where the museums are all the way to the north where Navy Pier is. Most of the museums are on one big campus..easy to get to. I love the Art Institute. Also easy to get to. Down the street from there is a little Tea House or something like that. I think it is still there. I love Chicago. It's my favorite city. You cannot get bored there. Lots of shopping for TracyNY!
Debbie..I love the inner child on the outside! My dh says that about himself!
Have a good day everybody. -
The dog pics are CRACKING me up!! OMG - Buddy love you are too cute, we won't let you down!
MaryAnne- my sister has 2 choc labs. They are the best dogs in the world!!
TracyNy - have a safe trip!!
Laura, Kelly, Brenda, I'm getting excited for you!!
What's the next step in the plannning for our August get-together?? Hotels?? Sites to see?? Restaurants?? What's the famous Pizza place everyone talks about - is it Giordanos?? Would a boat tour of Lake Michigan be really expensive?? Ravdeb - I love the museums/Navy Pier idea. I obviously have no idea where to go from here - sorry Buddy Love!
Have a great day ladies!! -
-
OK - I think we have the place and the dates now, so maybe we should talk Hotels.... Do any of us want to room together to save a few bucks? I would be up for a Roomie if anyone is interested, drop me a PM. I wouldn't mind coordinating how many rooms we need so that we can reserve a block of rooms somewhere.
Laura - can you help us figure out a good location close to things for us to see and shopping of course! Do they have Residence Inn or the Suite Type hotels there? We might be able to get suites with kitchenettes so we could make breakfast.... Any ideas?
Laura - Buddy is just he cutest thing. He has been the background on my computer since before Christmas. I had the pic of him with the Santa hat there, but now it is the latest pic of him waiting to be freed!
Killian is my black lab (looks a lot like Cola), he also is worried about Buddy Love. We need to get him outta there! :-)
Not a lot new here in the Northwest. We are still getting snow here and there which is unusual for us. I am getting tired of slippery sidewalks!!!
I love you all and I am getting so excited about our get together! -
Kelly -
Too funny!
Tracy -
I will look into hotels/etc. and post. I have to get packing for my trip! Yikes...And compose volumes of dog care info for my Mom - who's staying here to take care of our little King! But her instructions will be firm: she cannot let him down from his time out hanging bag. LOL
Laura -
Here are Killian (left) and his best friends, Sam & Minnie. They are looking for Buddy...... but have only foud this silly rooster!
-
OMG Our thread has gone to the dogs. LOL I would also post a pic of one of my dogs but haven't had one for six years.
Victoria-you ask where I have been. Whenever I return from a trip the work load has piled up incredibly. I always read what going on but just don't have time to post.
Laura, Kelly and Brenda, have a great get together. Can't wait to hear how it went!!
Much love to all. -
I love, love, love all the doggie pictures! Your dogs are all so cute. We've had so many dogs since I moved to Israel. It started out when my FIL brought home a little puppy who was lost and he found him at the gas station. He was special. After he got a little older he was still tiny, and we had him chained at the front of the yard on one of those runners. OMG..this doggie named Krembo (that's the name of a famous sweet here) would run the full length of the wire. It went up at the end and he would go flying! He was famous because we lived at the bus stop so he'd have an audience and he'd get lots of treats!
TracyNY..wishing you a safe trip. You DO know how to travel! I agree with Victoria..if I need a makeover..I'll have you do it for me!
Have a safe trip to all our travelers!
We have a saying in Hebrew that cannot really be translated but it does mean...Go in peace and Return in Peace. But..the word peace is Shalom. The Hebrew language is based on the root of the words. The root of Shalom in Hebrew is the same as the word that means "whole". So..I COULD translate it as...Go in Peace and return in ONE PIECE!
California Ladies..have a riot together! -
OK - so add to our get together Agenda: Make Overs by Tracy! LOL!!!
-
Make Overs by Tracy!! How fun! We will walk Michigan Ave in Chicago in style..all made over!!!!
I had my blood test for my cholesterol this morning. I just went on-line to get my results. I am so MAD! I was on a strict low-fat diet with exercise for 3 months. I think I cheated ONCE when I had regular milk in my coffee when we went out. I do NOT think that would have an effect! My cholesterol went UP significantly! I was in shock when I read that. It has been going steadily up for a few years but this is ridiculous! I was on this diet! I thought I was taking control! At least it could have remained.
My mom was right. She told me the diet wouldn't do any good because it is genetic. But, my parents were diagnosed with this much later in life.
I feel like my body is playing cruel tricks on me. I was first diagnosed with a dissected carotid artery with no found reason for it. It just happened. I am being followed up with that.
Then I was diagnosed with bc. No family history of cancer let alone bc. It's not even hormone positive so that I could blame it on the estrogen and at least understand where it could have come from. NOTHING! I'm triple neg. No genetics in it at all. The only reason I have it is because I'm a woman.
And now this..cholesterol. I eat well, exercise every day, have never been overweight in my life.
It all seems so unfair. I was pushed into menopause by chemo which is probably what has pushed my cholesterol up, I have these pains in my leg and back that have gotten worse quickly and I blame the chemo for that because I believe the chemo has aged my body drastically.
I am mad. I'm angry about all of this because I've lost control. I can't control how I feel physically, I can't control bad health...they say to eat well and exercise but WHY????? It doesn't help. I don't believe in that anymore. I've always done that. Always exercised, always kept a good diet...
Somebody help me put this all into perspective because I can't. My dh laughed at me. He also has high cholesterol and is on meds for it. But, he has never tried to lower it naturally by eating well. He exercises (he's an avid bike rider). He doesn't have high cholesterol in his family. He just prefers taking the pills and eating what he wants. He's not overweight...just eats fun foods with no worries.
My daughter had her blood tested for cholesterol today also but she can't get her test on-line so we don't know if the diet helped her or not. She is also not overweight and is a dancer.
Seems so unfair... -
ok, jake lives with my parents, but he has heard the rumors about buddy love and is very upset. as you can see, he's the coolest dog ever and feels he could really make a difference with our group to help negotiate the freedom of buddy love
-
Awwwww, poor buddy I was hoping Mom would set him free. I am on my way to take hubby to eye doctor, he has to have a steroid shot in his eye. Anyone ever hear of that? All I can think of is the movie "Christmas Story" you're going to shoot your eye out. Will post later....
-
Nice to see the posts settle back. The last week has been so unlike what I have come to expect here. I intend to keep in mind that what I say is public so very personal stuff is best dealt with in my offline life. Remember that even people we know may access our thoughts some day by logging on to BC.org. We must think about that and protect them too.
I had my afternoon fom hell on Monday. I was tense waiting for my mammo so I treated myself to a bag of chips. The technician called me in and I joked that it would only hurt half as mich this year as I only have one breast. She said...welll... we do examine the tissue under your arm if we can grab it. And then they did.Ouch. After my mammo I went down the hall for my MRI.
I forgot from last year why I despise, I mean despise this test. I have a bad shoulder and during this test you have to lay on your belly with your arms along side your head. Then you can not move a muscle for a half an hour or was it a whole day! After 5 minutes my shoulder spoke to me , after 10 it was screaming. I actually wept in the machine it was so painful. But, I didn't move a muscle, I knew it would be back to square one if I did. It took me 2 days to recover I think. Next year I will try to remember this and take painkillers prior to the test.
My mammo has been reported as normal. No report on the MRI yet. Don't really expect anything anyway.
I am loving all the dog pictures. Cola says hi to Amy's cool lab and Tracy's black lab.
Do we actually have a date for August? I would share a room with you Tracy if you need a roommate .
Ravdeb, hmmmmm, having a hard day? Hope you just had the grandest sleep and feel more in tune today when you read this.Perspective... Breast cancer is unfair for everyone. Young ,old. It is ugly, disfiguring and scary. I heard someone say about their cancer "why not me?", and they were right. No one deserves this. Your healthy lifestyle has likely given you better tools to fight this off so don't think it has been for nothing. I try to be proud that I feel as good as I do considering all the stuff that has been thrown at me in the last year. OK. I am not the same but..I am here and I have my family and a good life. Most people say it takes 1-2 years to really recover from chemo. Give it time. And menopause...well that was about to happen.
I do not want to belittle your feelings, you asked for perspective. Seize the day and be glad.
Fists up! -
that's not a lab! that's a doberman!
