You've all made me smile this morning, as you always do. I really needed a smile today.

Latkes..we had them last night at my inlaws..they are potato pancakes. Latkes is the yiddish word. Leviva is the Hebrew word or levivot for the plural since you don't just eat ONE!

TracyNY..We sang that last night. There are two Chanukah songs in English that I know of and one of them is..dreidle, dreidle (the spinning top..remember?? you will be tested next week! ). Gilad, my 20 year old, decided we needed to sing these in English last night much to the dismay of my father in law who is not happy that we babble in English on occasion in front of him (habit because we all speak English in the imediate family). But, Gilad goes a bit nuts on his leave from the army and he just started singing away and we all joined!!!! There is never a dull moment when Gilad is home. He's my sunshine always.

Have a nice Saturday and Happy Chanukah to all who celebrate or want to celebrate or whatever!!!

Ladies...here is my crazy son...he's in the red dress. Before the kids go into the army, they put on a show. Tradition in each village, town, etc..with the kids they graduated high school with. Gilad was the star. He was unbelievably funny as he's a natural on stage. This is only one of the scenes that had me ROFL!

Okay..here is a picture of me and Avi on our wedding day..before the actual ceremony. In a Jewish wedding, the groom must check to make sure that he is marrying the right woman before the actual ceremony. In Israel, traditionally, the bride and groom greet their guests before that part of the ceremony. I haven't yet understood why but that's because I'm American!!!

We didn't have a professional photographer..our wedding was planned at the last moment..had 300 guests and basically only my parents were there. Long story...

My veil was my sister's and the flowers on the veil were baby's breath. My bouquet was made from the neighbor's magnolia tree (and later we planted a branch of that tree in our yard..I hate to say this, but it is the owner of this tree who has lung cancer now.)

My dress was a long, flowy, non-traditional, embroidered white on white on the bodice, wedding dress... I am very non-traditional in this respect..no make-up, did my own hair...

I just noticed that I didn't wear any jewelry! I was probably wearing earrings, though..just can't see them.

Oh..and I was 27 years old. Note my red face..from spending too much time in the sun before the wedding!

Here's my secretary desk...the one my mom bought for $25 in a garage sale when I was 11 years old! She had painted it and Avi sanded it down and here it is today.

It has my doll collection in it (and all around it, too!)

Ravdeb, Amy and Linda, and to all that celebrate. Happy Hanukkah....Is it Hanukkah or Chanukah? Why is there two spellings? I always wondered that?..
    ..
I know I can always count on waking up to you Ravdeb. Unfortunately I haven't been on here much lately. I like your wedding picture. You look just like a girlfriend I had when I was about 12. I guess that means you look young...........lol...... I will try once again to take a picture of my wedding picture. You don't have a glare on your's. I have a shinny background on my picture so I am having trouble getting rid of the glare. I have one on canvas but don't feel like digging it out of the attic. The secretary desk is beautiful......Avi did a nice job refinishing it.......Funny picture of your son......I especially like his boxers hanging out the bottom........heeeeee

Kelly, I think I am going to copy those Chinese/Japanese characters and frame it......also, going back a few pages, I like the pictures of your condo. You are like me, I do a lot of that stuff my self. My husband wants to help but he isn't too good at it unfortunately. I have laid vinyl tiles, carpet, put up our crown molding, etc.....

Tadah, I had to laugh at your post about your nipple coming to attention......Glad you are feeling better.......my knee's also crunch too...especially in the cold weather.........which NY is famous for......I think that is probably due to the bone loss they are telling me I have.

Amy, I hope you are feeling better.....

Laura, you look wonderful in your new avatar. Your hair looks cute. If someone didn't know what you went through they would never know this time last year we were all bald. Another thing we have alike.......my tumor was at 2:00.

Tracy, How nice of you to want to volunteer for the Patient navigator position. I don't know where you find the time. I have heard about your weather and I hope it has improved. I saw where a tree cut a house in half.

I will have to get back to the rest of you later. Between my grandson and my husband I keep getting kicked off the computer........They always want to use it lately.......

    Everyone take care.......

    Ok, Fumi sent some more

I still am loving the "live a life" character. Want it on my right lower back. Or smack dab in the middle. David said he'd go with me to go get it so I didn't have to go alone.

Dev, you have an amazing son if he can get up in front of his friends and neighbors in a red skin tight dress!! But I am not telling you anything you don't already know! Love the pic of your wedding and the story. You have such love woven thru your life. I am sorry about your neighbor. It's certainly hard to stay in the same neighborhood for decades. My great grandfather stood out on his porch one day crying because he was in his late 80's (I was about 10 or 11) and he said he was the last of his friends. He pointed at houses that weren't there when he was little and pointed at houses that used to belong to his friends. My mom's parents went thru the same thing and my grandmother finally moved when my grandfather died, she couldn't take being alone in her neighborhood without their good friends and her husband.

TracySeattle, are you getting webbed feet yet??? How you holding up ... up there?? Thanks for the card!!

Gail: Thanks for the card!! I love do it yourself but I need to get motivated again. I need to re-hang a towel rack, Teryn pulled it off the other day. I need to paint the baseboards. Already bought the paint. Just have no motivation to do it!

Debbie: Thanks for the card and my ANGEL!! I put her in my purse so I can hold her when I get nervous. She fits right nice in my hand and I can rub her with my thumb.

I was going to do cards this Sunday, but can't find the envelope of Teryn's pictures I bought last night. They were just the cutest Xmas pics I just know I stuck them in my bag and now they aren't there. I was crying last night. I paid $60 for pictures I don't have!! And then I find out when I got home and opened the mail that the IRS is taking out some moneyright from my acct for 2003 because they said my taxes were calculated wrong. Well, I had sent the letter to my acct 3 months ago, an amended return was filed but now these things have probably crossed in the mail!!! But who can afford $2500 to the IRS at Christmas time???

    Hi girls -
First...thanks for all the compliments re: my new avatar! You really know how to make a girl feel good! Also, Fumi(she is such a sweetheart) has offered to help me post the Rocktober movie here. Are any of you opposed to "going public" with it. I really respect your privacy and wouldn't want to offend anyone. Please let me know if you are opposed to it! And so far...the left boob is winning! LOL

    ----------------------------

    kelly -
I like live a life too - but I am open to whatever the majority rules. Have you found the pics of teryn yet? Gawd, I hate when that happens! I hope everything works out with the IRS - they suck!

    ravdeb -
OMG - your son...OMG...I love it! You are a fun family! Your wedding pics...wow, you two look great! I love the secretary too!

Victoria..naive is definitely the word!! I was lost at my own wedding...didn't understand a word anyone was saying!!!

Graycie..thanks for the Chanukah wishes. Chanukah is spelled in English many ways..we joke about that a lot. In Hebrew there is only one way to write it but in English it's a transliteration so people write it the way they want... Chanukah (my way), Hanukah, Hanukkah, Hannukah...hmmm..wonder if there are other ways! I like it with the "Ch" because in Hebrew it isn't an "h" sound but rather a gutteral sound. The "Ch" is the correct transliteration...so...start practicing that gutteral sound and spit it out!!!

Am waiting for my family to get together so we can light the second candle. I actually have gifts for my kids tonight. I used to give them a gift every night when they were little..that's a tradition from the "old country" (the States). It's not a tradition here. My kids' friends were so jealous!!!

I don't mind if the DVD is on this website, either.

Okay..here's another photo and then I call it quits for the day! I'm becoming a wild picture poster!!!

This is a week ago when my family surprised me with a second birthday celebration.
That's my dh, me and my daughter..in the corner cut off is my friend, Brad, who was visiting from the States...

My doll collection is all over the house. On the left is a handmade doll from Ecuador.

The second is from 2 weeks ago when I met Cathy and Graycie-Gail for dinner and fun! Look how much my hair is growing.

I love the pictures Mary! Yep..your hair has grown tons! And that pool in the background at your friend's...that is beautiful! I've always wanted one of those.

Looks like you three had a ton of fun. Great pink nails, Gail!! Can you imagine what it will be like when we ALL get together!!!!

When I look at pictures of me in June..OMG I hardly had any hair!!! My dh just saw his cousin's wife, a bc survivor of less than a year but she's done with treatments and she now has a tiny bit of blonde hair growing. He said she looks really cute.

We've come a long way, Baby!!!

Hey, Debbie, isn't Robbie Williams the guy from our CD??
    Quote:

    Smoked Out

Robbie Williams has scoffed at official warnings not to smoke cigarettes on stage in Australia, but his celebrity status will help him escape paying $117 in fines. The leader of Australia's state of Queensland, where the 32-year-old British pop star lit up on stage at a no-smoking venue on two consecutive nights, offered to pay the fines, saying Williams was a guest of the state.

Health groups criticized Williams in the media after he smoked Wednesday at the first of two Queensland concerts during his Australian tour. He lit up again the next night, telling the crowd of more than 50,000 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, the state capital, that he had heard about the controversy and promised not to smoke again - as he puffed on a cigarette. After giving up drugs and alcohol, smoking was his only vice, Williams said.

Stadium spokesman Greg Adermann said Williams had been reminded after the first concert that smoking was banned at the venue. State Premier Peter Beattie said Williams was liable for fines totaling $117, but that he would pay them on his behalf. "He used it as part of his act, and he is going to be treated like anybody else, but because of the circumstances, I am going to pay it," Beattie said

Mary, What a nice picture of you and your husband....The background isn't bad either. I love the waterfall.

Your hair has really grown a lot since then. I think mine is finally starting to grow. If it was thicker I wouldn't mind it so much, the wig is finally history. I decided I just don't care anymore beside's it is kind of fun being incognito sometimes. I can ignore people I don't want to talk to....lol...nobody recognizes me. I am serious. I was at my sister's X-mas party last weekend and my nephews wife had no clue who I was until my sister told her. And my good friend who I see at least once a month or more walked by me in the mall...she had to take a double look, she didn't know it was me. Come on she has got to be kidding, I must really look different. I am meeting another friend on Monday for lunch. I can't wait to see what she has to say....HA

Ravdeb, Your hair looks beautiful in your picture? Is that after the haircut? It looks a little darker. It's a pretty silver color. I actually like your hair short. Looks like you were all having fun. I had a doll collection once. Actually they were porcelain doll's by Aston Drake. Now they are boxed up. I get tired of things after a while.

Laura, I also don't mind if the DVD is put on the website. My picture is already plastered everywhere so I have nothing to hide.

    Hmmm...
I have never even imagined my alabaster skin with a tatto... but after 3 operations on my left breast, I don't know if I care as much!!

Ravdeb, have you thought of a different hair color? There's a whole spectrum between black and white! Since you love chocolate so much, why not try chocolate brown? I can envision a ravishing you in chocolate brown hair (not that you are not ravishing at the moment)! Or something with a hint of red like auburn? Oh, and regarding teeth, you don't need teeth to live, right? Or hair for that matter. I know someone who took very good care of her teeth she had them without cavities until her fifties, but her gums began to deteriorate because of a genetic disorder. All of her ancestors on her mother's side had gingivitis. She outlived all of her teeth, and she lived a good life until a ripe old age of 94.

Speaking of pains, I have been having serious pain on my left foot. It started on the ball, then moved to the toes. Now I can hardly fit my left foot in an enclosed shoe, i.e. pumps, and I limp like I need a crutch very badly. My appointment with the doctor is this coming Tuesday. I did not want to be absent from class right before the holidays!! I hope it's just arthritis!

Now I'm off to have a glass of red wine and sit by the fire. It's actually raining in Southern California. Cheers!

Hi everybody, I came back this past Thursday night from 8 days in New York - I dont know when I will have time to catch up on your posts, but I will try tomorrow, and if not, sorry for what I missed.

I am a huge fan of Sarit Hadad, a popular Israeli singer, and have not seen her live in performance. My husband emailed me when I was in New York that she is performing in New York on Dec. 21st, and he asked if I wanted to go back with him for the coming weekend (since it is Christmas weekend, he is off work) - I said yes, and I purchased the tickets online, and he booked cheap flights (we drive to Buffalo - 2 hours - and fly Jet Blue).

My kids think this is hysterical, they said its the most spontaneous thing I have ever done! I was so exhausted after this last trip, I hope I won't be again since it is so soon to go back.

My daughter took the twins to the doctor for a "well-check" - he is not happy with their weight gain - the smaller one weighs 14 pounds (they were born Feb. 4) - he said they need to eat more table food, rather than baby food (cereal etc) since they need more fat in their diet. She is upset, she has been doing a great job with them and they eat very well, but won't eat anything but baby cereal, fruit, veggies, etc. Isaac (the deaf baby) is the smaller one - he is so cute and has the sweetest smile. The therapist says it is because he is visual, therefore very smiley. Surgery for the implant is scheduled in Feb.

I took a sleeping pill for the first time in months last night, and it helped. Without it, I wake up too many times, and if I started thinking about BC, my sleep is finished - I still get terrified, but never say it to anyone but here. I really miss posting when I am away.

Okay..I see the "cheesy tatoos" on the subject line. I will not be joining you on this one. But, if we all get together and you all have your tattooes..I'll get a similar one in hena...have done that. I had those 3 tattooes for the radiation only because it was for a medical reason. It's not because I'm afraid (even though I would be!) but because I won't do it for religious reasons. I had to really convince myself that the 3 tattoes for the rads was okay to do.

Brenda..I used to dye my hair and now I feel a bit free not having to dye it and worrying about the roots showing all the time.

And thanks Graycie..and yes..it was before I had my hair trimmed but my hair looks pretty much the same after I washed it and let it dry naturally..just a bit more tamed.

Love your new avatar Graycie..you look beautiful. I also go incognito and love it!!!! Sometimes, I have to admit, it's a bit embarrassing! But sometimes I can ignore people I don't want to say hi to!!!

Linda..I was up most of the night...again. I have a terrible time sleeping through the night. I'm always tired! Makes no difference if I nap during the day or not, or what time I go to bed or if I drink my red wine at night or not. I've never had a sleeping pill and my onc wouldn't give me one.

I'm with you about being scared about the bc. This is only now hitting me. I'm more scared of suffering than dying. I'm triple neg and well..we have a poorer prognosis. I'm not THAT scared. I feel good and plan to live a long life...but I also know it may not be as long as I would like...

Sarit Hadad??? OMG! When I bought one of her cd's my kids laughed their heads off!!!

I hope you enjoy her concert. I heard her live once, free..she was performing at an auto show here. I had to walk out, Linda! She was screeching! But, I do believe it was the acoustics. A lot of people said that. She's a great performer because I see her a lot on TV.She moved up fast.

My favorite Israeli singer is Achinoam Nini. she's known as Noa outside of Israel. SHe performs in the States a lot and in Europe.

Glad you're back, Linda..and happy Chanukah!

Ravdeb, why don't you ask for sleeping pills now? I took ativan during treatment, it was helpful, but stopped right after I finished, since the doctor said it was addictive. I now have Starnoc (I think it might have a different name in other countries) and only take it very occasionally, but it does help, and I dont feel drowsy the next morning.

Happy Chanukah to all Linda, Amy and Ravdeb---sorry if I;m late with my wishes but too tired to post yesterday.

Is anyone else still tired after treatment and working full time? I am only now working 4 days a week and find that I am going to sleep around 9:30 p.m. and get up at 6:50 a.m. and come Thursday night after my fourth day I am totally wiped. This past Thursday I went to my mom;s to stay over and spend some quality time with her and fell asleep on the couch at 7:00 p.m. It has taken me almost the whole weekend to recover from working the last week. I do hope that this gets better, so frustrating as I am use to being the ever ready bunny and constantly on the go…..

It continues to be above normal temps here all weekend and there is no snow left on the ground, feels like a late fall day today with a slight drizzle. I do hope that we get a little bit of snow in time for Christmas though.

We decorated our tree with little white lights and red and gold ribbon with a few ornaments. The lower bottom half of the tree has only lights on it as the puppy is so adventurous she would have the ornament in her mouth.

I brought the video over to let my mom and sisters watch and my mom loved it but it made her cry. I also showed it to one of my other bc sisters and she wanted to watch it twice it was so moving to her! She couldn’t believe that I have made some wonderful friends (sisters) through the an internet support group. We all rock!! I certainly don’t mind having the video put on bc.org. Thanks Fumi and Laura for your kind offer to help out with this.

Deb - Thanks for the wonderful Christmas card it arrived on Friday. My hubby thought it was a card from one of his aunts in Germany as it said Air Mail. I was so excited when I opened it and found out it was from one of my bc sisters. Feeling smug as you got all your shopping done, well I’m feeling panicked right now as I’m not finished yet…What is the bug jam?

Victoria – we had a wonderful german Shepard who we also had to put to sleep in June of this year. We balled like babbies to loose him, he was 13 ½ and the sweetest, most loyal loving dog but it was time for him to go to doggie heaven. We still have an 11 year old Australian cattle dog black, black lab, Shepard mix and she is 39 pounds and also a sweetie. We introduced a new puppy into our family in October and she is a going concern, a female Belgian malinois who loves to bounce off the walls is probably the best way to describe her. The thought of moving makes me want to run in the opposite direction. We had our home for a short time prior to me being diagnosed with bc so it wasn’t meant to happen in 2005. We will put our home back up on the market in April of next year. We live in an older two storey brick home built in the late 1950’s. We have done quite a bit of work on it, new roof, new spectic, new laminate floors all downstairs, and upstairs hallway, new berber in our master bedroom and walk in closet, new ensuite bathroom upstairs, ceramic in kitchen. Our biggest problem with our home is it was originally a 1 ½ storey home and when the ½ storey was added upstairs they didn’t change the steep stairs going up to the 2nd floor. Also we have a country property ½ acre but it is on a two lane highway that has access to a few major towns close by so it can be quite busy in the morning and evening. We would like a newer home in town so we don’t have to rake leaves anymore, this year we took away 4,000 pounds of leaves! Also the snow removal in the winter time is hard now especially with me not being able to use my left arm to lift heavy stuff.

Amy – I hate that comment but “you look so healthy and so great” so why are you still tired? Like duh……sometimes I feel like smacking up the side of the head but I just realize that they DO NOT GET IT OR NEVER WILL GET IT!!!

Tracy Ny – you go girl, looking faboulous is what us girls do….I love your spunk and sense of humour, “so the world can stare at my hooters”, hee heeJ Tracy you crack me up “open enrollment” I hope you screen those boys to make sure they know how to treat you right, nothing but the best for our bc sister.

Mary – hope you are slowly getting your house in order in time for Santa to arrive! Good luck on switching to an AI. I am on Arimdex since May 26 and also Zoladex injections. The side effects have been aching knees, restless sleep but other than that fairly good. I will take it as the alternative isn’t up for discussion. My tumour was in the 1 o’clock position. I could never blow dry my curly hair I would like a super powder poof!

Ravdeb – I would love to be able to draw. I do knit but not anymore don’t want to risk lymphodema due to the repetitive motion. I also have done some folk art painting in the past, little projects, a bird house, a clock, close hanger, etc. You know I woke up at 1:30 a.m. this morning and was a total grump, thought to myself I hate my poodle curly hair, I hate that I have to take something to sleep, hate that I was diagnosed with bc and then thought to myself….shut off your brain and go to sleep tomorrow will be a better day. You know what it is, I;m tired from my crappy sleep last night but I;m alive. I keep hearing that Celine Dione tune from Laura’s cd in my head and it inspires me and makes me smile when I think of it. The picture of your son is hilarious! You look so young in your wedding picture.

Cathy – sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved aunt. Big hugs to you my sister.
I lost my aunt in Nov 04 and she was like a second mother to me and actually lived with my family as she was mentally challenged, my mom had guardianship of her. We were devasted at her death as it was sudden at 67 of a heart attack. I can now smile and remember what a sweetheart she was and heaven truly has an angel when they took her.

Maryanne – I agree with you re: the mammogram not being reliable on us younger women. My Sept 04 mamo at age 40 was negative for any abnormalities. Then 13 months later I have a 4 cm tumour! My followup mamo is on February 07 and I am also having an ultrasound as well.

Paula – I hope you don’t have too many bruises from falling off your bike. Hope you were wearing your helmet.

Rosemarie – Hope you had a wonderful time at the wedding. I so love hanging out with my sisters, have 3 and we are pretty close. Two of them only live an hour away and the other one is 10 months younger than me and she lives 5 hours away. Ignore all the ignorant comments that people come out with like wtf (sorry I hope you know what that saying means) are people thinking, they should really stop and think before they open up there big mouths.

Laura – I agree, I don’t often think now when we go to spend money that we don’t usually as you only go this way once, enjoy it! I have to thank you again, I absolutely love the cd and have watched it 5 times since I received it. I cant see your new avtar yet?

Tracyseattle – I’m glad that you have Dave this year to enjoy the holidays with. Sometimes it is hard to let go of the past but you seem to be certainly headed in the right direction. I admire your wanting to take on volunteering at the cancer center, you have a lot to offer others and help out the newly diagnosed as well.

Kelly – hope you enjoy your Christmas this year with your new friend and your super cute little girl. I watched the cd that Laura made and the two of you are like two little peas in a pod and look so much alike! I hate the government, when you owe them money they sure know how to get it quickly and if they owe you money that’s a different story. I would call them and demand that they fix it pronto!

Gracyie – Don’t get discouraged on the hair thing. I think ours all grows at a different pace. I am past ignoring anyone as they wont recognize me due to my short hair, hell I didn’t ask to get bc nor is it my fault. My opinion is it makes people realize that they are not immune to this disease either.

Brenda – the pains in your foot could also be due to chemo, are you on any hormonals at all?

Linda – welcome back you seasoned traveler. You are a wonderful gramma! The customs people are going to know you by face soon.

Have a super day ladies, gotta run.

    Your bc sister
    Michele

Michele..I marvel at how you respond to each of us! WHEW!

I know I looked young way back then..we were married here in Israel in the same village where we live today and so all the old timers back then gossiped that my dh was marrying a rich, 16 year old American!!!! The only correct part was that I was American.

    Thanks for the Chanukah greetings.
    G'nite y'all.

I am soooo tired today!!! Michelle, I have had to work full time the whole time since dx. No one to support us financially if had to take time off for treatment. I get tired on the way home from work, it's a 30-40 minute drive each way and I want to pull over and take a nap at night. But gotta go get Teryn, get home, do homework or check it (sometimes her daycare will do it with her) get dinner going and play a little and then bed for her. Not to mention, I still have laundry, beds, dishes, plants to water inside and out, a dog who needs feeding and yard to clean up!!

Last night, David and I went to one of his client's Christmas party. We had such fun and a great time. His friends are very nice and his son was there with his gf. He said everyone liked me, so that was good. I got home around midnight but it feels like we were out til 3am!! Teryn was at my brother's and she had a blast with her cousins and I picked her up this morning. I am so glad that my brother loves for her to come over.

Hope you are having a Happy Chanukkah!!
