Cindy and Laura, we all are all pulling for good results.

I will get to Laura's house-that is a good date for me too.

Debbie-first the sweet picture then the graphic horrible assault! Hope you can find the savage dog who did that. I have a choc lab who is as gentle a dog as ever. Onace while walking, this other dog, totally unprovoked, attacked her. It was scary and she didn't even get hurt. Hope your dog turns around for you. Even worse your Aunt...what a mess.

Kelly ,do you need a doctors note for next October. This trip would be part of your cancer treatmrnt plan after all.LOL.

    Fists up!

Not sure if any of you would be interested, but I am coordinating an "Adopt a Soldier" project for the Holidays. I have done this in the past and it has been very successful. The way it works is that you tell me that you or your work group are interested in adopting a soldier, then I will give you a soldier's name & Address along with a list of items that they need/want. You take care of getting the items boxing them and shipping them by the deadline date.

If you or your office, or school or whomever would be interested in adopting a soldier, let me know!

OMG Debbie that is horrible.......What a terrible day.......I will be pulling for poor little Sam to have a quick recovery and also your poor Aunt. I wish you well too as if you don't have enough things on your plate you have to worry about this too.......

Ravdeb, you can add me to the list........I don't have anything planned that far in advance. Your picture of the beach look's so relaxing. I can picture myself with my shoe's off sitting on one of the rocks listening to the water. I wish I was there........All we have is rain, snow, sleet you name it.......and then I wonder why I feel like crap.

Laura, I have nothing but good thought's coming your way. I really believe too that with all the chemo, etc it has to be B9.......I am just glad they are on top of things and having it checked out right away......Cindy, my thought's are with you too...Especially tomorrow....I had no idea you were going through this too.

Mary and Rosemarie, Love your hair, your hair came in beautiful, nice and thick...

Kelly, you do not look old. Hair or no Hair..... How is your hair doing? Is is growing as slow as mine? I can still see scalp because it is so fine. Believe me it is the worse hair I have ever seen and I am not over exaggerating. I will have to have my husband take a picture. Some parts are still only one inch long I think. If you want a GOOD laugh I will have him take a picture of me when I first get up in the morning....I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket....lol...

Tracy, I am getting excited about the CD.

Victoria, Hi, Glad you had a nice day.

I better go and enter my work report.

    Everyone take care.

Ravdeb: Add me to the list. I can come to Illinois in October. I can come at any time, really.

Kelly: can you give us some other possibilities if October is completely out for you?

Debbie: MY heart aches for yoy, your family, Sam and your aunt. Oh what a terrible thing to have happen. I am so very sorry and wish I could come and offer food, comfort, and a big, big hug!!!

Tracy: what a great thing to do for soldiers. I am knitting hats for kids in residential facilities for this Christmas. Maybe I could make a pair of slippers or something that a soldier could use.

Graycie: Maybe we could travel together to Illinois next year? How's your recovery from the storm?

Laura: thinking positive thoughts about you. Hoping all will turn out well.

Maryanne: Brave woman . . . you are a wonder! Do you still have the responsibility of the kids by yourself? Am I remembering correctly that they live with you full time?

Rosemarie: I agreee - your short hair looks great.

    Amy: HI!!

Cindy: I admire your attitude. Hoping all will be well.

Tracy: Congrats on the new romance. So happy you are finding love in your new life.

Ravedeb: I'm saving your beach photo as my new screen saver.

Tadah: I'm on my way to vote soon. New York races are in the news alot, I heard this morning.

Best to everyone . . . I'm rushing off now to vote and get home for Dancing With The Stars. It's the only show of that type that I've ever watched and I got hooked.

    Debbie,
how horrible! but he is a little fighter by the sounds of it, so keep us posted. I once had a small parrot as a pet, and loved him to to bits. He died virtually in my hand... at the vet actually, so he was still warm when i took him back home. When you have a pet they become part of your family, and it is painful to let them go.

    hope Sam gets better..
and i am sorry of course about your aunty as well!
    take care

Debbie, I didn't see this about your dog til after I posted (I posted when I was reading page 152) ..... I am so sad about your dog! This is horrible. I can't believe you just posted his pic and now this!!!!

It should be almost morning there as I write, how is he doing? And then your Aunt had a heart attack? Oh my heavens! Your family needs a break. I think you have had all your bad luck in one year!

    Thinking of you,
    Kelly

Beautiful pic, ravdeb. If you have any pics of Israel, I would love to see them. Take us on a virtual tour of your journeys there.

Well 07.30 here. My aunt is doing well - this was her 6th heartattack but by all accounts it has not done any further damage. She may be out of hospital in a few more days.
The vets havent rung so i am presuming Sam made it through the night. They have told us to ring at 10.30 to see what is happening, to see if they can go ahead with surgery. I will be in work so Roger is going to ring then i will find out from him when i finish at 11.30.

The woman hasnt come back - i cant believe it. She obviously lives local - you dont take your dog for a walk through someone elses housing estate do you? How could she just walk away - leaving my dad having an emphysema attack on the front garden? I am ringing the dog warden today, she saw us at the vets and told us to get in touch today. If the woman doesnt come forward we are going to leaflet drop the area, see if anyone recognises the description ( which is vague - cant even remember whar she looks like.

    Thankyou for all your thoughts

Well, Debbie, we are here with you through all of this. I'm glad that your aunt is doing well.

Waiting to hear about Sam. That is awful that that woman just left like that. That happened to us when one of our dogs got hit and killed in the street. They just drove off even though our friend was outside with the dog at the time. We heard her scream and we went running out only to find our dog (which had been hers and we had adopted it from her and she was visiting)lying on the street and the driver had driven off...

I will never understand any of that....

Kelly... is there a better date for you??? I really want you to be there and I can adjust my calendar and it sounds like others can, too. It doesn't HAVE to be in October. I remember you having other months that would be better.

This summer would be hard for me because my son is going into the army. But any time before the summer or afterwards...

At any rate..this is the OCT 2007 list (date can be changed)..

    Gosh,

Got back from my holiday in St Lucia and so much has happened. It has taken me a couple of days to read the posts and try and get up-to-date. I apologise in advance if I forget anyone to talk to.

I would like to send Laura and Cindy all my good thoughts and wishes. I ditto everyone’s comments about these being B9 cysts. I really hope so.

Ravdeb – I think your photo of the beach is beautiful. I spend many happy times at the beach here in Scotland. I have a favourite one which can look just as beautiful in the winter as the summer. I have tried to make sandcastles on the beach when the frost is so deep that you cannot get your spade to dig in. Still a great place to be. Have you tried daylight bulbs. I know several people who swear by them here in Scotland to get more light in the winter.

Debbie – How traumatic. I hope both your patients recover well – will come back here at lunchtime to see how Sam is. I would definitely get the dog warden onto this person – perhaps you can describe the dog better than the owner (She will have probably shouted his name at him). It is very scary when this happens and you can really feel very helpless. Fingers Crossed

Tracy – it is great to hear about your romance – You must feel you have come ever such a long way in a year. I think we all have.

I think getting together is a fabulous idea. It is a very long way from Scotland – Do not know how I would manage it – have to think about it some more.

I will try to post some photos – hopefully they will cheer you up – It is amazing that with these new cameras even a person who just takes snaps with very little thought can actually get something worth having. My holiday was fabulous. I have not been to a hotel where everything was all inclusive since my honeymoon (17 years ago) The best bit was, if you wanted to have a drink or some food during the day on the beech, you just had to raise a blue flag. Along cam a very “fit” looking man and he would take your order and deliver it to your sun-lounger. If I could only have one of these here it would be amazing.

Anyway – my love to you all – you are all so supportive and thoughtful. If really helps me to believe that good things happen out of bad.

    All the best Jill

Jill..so good to hear from you! Sounds like a fantastic trip you were on and I, too, could use somebody to just come to me at the raise of a little blue flag! Or, even if I yelled HELP!!!

Pictures..I think that happened to me, too, the first time so I deleted it and started over.

Follow what you did, getting it into the reply section, write what you want under the stuff that gets there BEFORE clicking continue. THEN click continue. You'll find your picture there.

    Hope that helps.

    Jill - great photos!
Well, heard from the vets at 10.30. Sam was in surgery - but had walked to the toilet that morning - on all 4 legs! I sobbed my eyes out when i heard that!
He had to have an emergenct tracheoctomy (?Spelling) to stop the anaesthetic coming out of his neck and his windpipe was so badly torn that he had to have part of it removed and the rest removed. The risk is that he will catch an infection as he was so mauled , but things are looking up.
The chance of me being there next year are about 0.0000000%, we thought we may get away but now we have the vets bill to find somehow.
I am off to trawl the streets to look for this woman now - wish me luck!

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this!! How awful, and how IRRESPONSIBLE of the other person to take off like that!! Has she no conscience?!!! UGH Well, I'm glad to hear your aunt is doing better - will be thinking of you today!!!!!
Kelly - you're beautiful and I agree, you still look very young! When I went back to Tallahassee in May none of my former coworkers or students recognized me - my hair was totally gray and short, so I know how you feel...

Jill - beautiful pictures! I love the one of the sunset (sunrise?) so pretty!! Great to see you too!
The top of my hand is very swollen. I guess I need to go back to the LE therapist and ask more questions and take better notes. SUCH a bother...
I'll have a piece of that cake, Ravdeb, (I've lost 5 pounds by the way woohoo!) so glad I can eat the virtual kind!

Thanks for the cake! My appointment's not until 3 p.m., so I'm chilling at work until then. Luckily, I work at Mayo (I write stories for MayoClinic.com), so I can just walk a few blocks and get to my appointments. Because of the weather in Minnesota, all the downtown buildings are connected, either through basement tunnels or via glass-enclosed walkways than stretch over the streets.

I'm trying not to freak out. I'm going to take some Ativan before the procedure so that should help.

Rosemarie - bless you for thinking I could possibly see a sunrise on holiday - No I rushed from drinking my cocktails at the bar to catch this sunset. Favourite cocktail was called "EC does it" - EC for East Caribbean.

Debbie - so glad that Sam made it through the OP. I am sure they would not have done the op if they did not think he had a good chance of recovering. They make these small dogs very tough you know. Keep your chin up

Cindy - we are all behind you in this - can I add a chocolate elair to the picnic or perhpas one of Debbie's jammy dodgers.

Ravdeb - I was very happy - I am still very happy - I have to just focus on the good things in life and how much better life is this year than last.
Here is a little story for you. On holiday there were an engaged couple from the USA. They had just arrived at the resort and she decided to go water-skiing. As a precaution she gave her engagement ring to her fiance for safe keeping. About 10 mins later he was getting too hot and thought he would go into the sea for a swim. Well I am sure you are all ahead of me on this - did he not drop the ring into the water - the caribbean - what a plonker (hope you understand that expression).

He started to wave frantically at his fiancee who came back to see what he wanted. Well what happened next was like a pantomime comedy sketch - she went away crying (understandably) he managed to get someone to put a buoy to mark where he thought he dropped it. Anyway for the next 4-5 hours he dived down with snorkel...... other people dived down with snorkel......the watersports instructors dived down with scuba equipment...... the group who learnt to scuba the previous day dived down. Eventually this guy found it. Oh did I mention that it cost over $20,000. It was a huge rock! The couple were so happy, even if he looked a bit sunburnt. Anyway the good thing that came out of that was everyone in the resort talked to each other about it and were so happy when they found it. Moral of the story - do not give your engagement ring to your man for safekeeping.

    Cheers Jill

I am on a roll this afternoon -
Rosemarie - I have had this lymphodema in my arm and hand. I would thoroughly recommend going back to your therapist about it. I needed to go back once or twice after my initial sessions as it got out of control again. I have now managed to control it for the last couple of months - so fingers crossed. Apparently what she explained to me was that your arm will "learn" how to get rid of the fluid if you do the massage enough times. I only massage a couple times a week now as it has paid attention to these lessons. This is something I feel you can have some control over. Hope that helps Cheers Jill

    Hi All!

Debbie - I am so glad that Sam is still with us and fighting! Glad your Aunt is better too.

Jill - Welcome back! We missed you! Beautiful pics too!

Ravdeb - I am hoping to spend some time at the beach this weekend on our "get away".

Kelly - I want you to be with us for our get together, would September work better for you?

Debbie - We need to find a way to get you over here.... I am going to start buying Lottery tickets. If I win, you are here!

Everyone else, Hi!!! Have a good day!

    Love your story, Jill!

Rosemarie..I love virtual cakes. Can eat as much as I want..doesn't change my weight, cholesterol...YUM!

So, my friend's cousin died over the weekend. She had been fighting cancer (not bc and I can't remember what..colon maybe)for quite a while and had lived long past what doctors had said. She lived in NC. It's a strange story because my sister knew her but she was my Israeli/American friend's cousin and they left Israel after 23 years and moved to NC near to where she lived and spent a lot of time with her before she died.

She was an amazing woman. When I was going through chemo my friends were still living in Israel. I remember her telling me that this cousin needed to slow down, she was in a lot of pain and her mind was working faster than her body. And I told my friend to leave her alone. She knew she was dying..the cancer was everywhere. She did everything possible to add months to her life. Surgeries where they weren't sure she'd survive the surgery and she did, new chemos that made her terribly sick, etc.

The point is...she lived wonderfully. She went on the Caribbean cruise with her kids because she wanted to, she was pres. of a woman's organization (which is how my sister knew her)and she continued, sick as she was. My sister would tell me that she'd see her at the conventions, a bit thinner, obviously not well, but in good spirits. It seemed that nothing could get this woman down.

She was a real fighter. I never met her but felt like I had. She was an inspiration to me and so want to follow in her footsteps and live life fully, not waiting around for "when I have the money", "when I'm retired", "when the kids are on their own", etc.

None of us knows how long or short our lives are going to be, cancer or not. But that's what cancer has taught me.

    My friend's cousin was 60. That's all.

I was a fighter a year ago. I was the one that said I was going to be a superwoman and bought a kid's spiderman cap to wear at night to keep my bald head warm. I chose to take on the role of a fighter.

I don't know where that fighter attitude went. I don't even know where it came from. I don't think I was ever a fighter before. Not sure I want to fight but rather bring back that superpower feeling that I can do anything if I just put my mind to it.

Debbie, I was amazed that your little trooper is already walking on all 4's. Good luck to you all.

Jill, the photos are fantastic ... love your stories btw! What island were you on? I love the Caribbean. I have been to Jamaica and Barbados ... each them for about 2 weeks. Then I went on a cruise and saw St. John's, St Martins and another island. The Florida Keys were beautiful as well. That water is so blue and so warm.

Victoria, how are you feeling now?

Laura, still thinking of you with all my heart, I love you and we're all sitting here with you waiting by the phone. Do you watch Oprah?

Cindy ..... I'll be the little thing in your purse whispering, "We're gonna be ok, we're gonna be ok" .... imagine us with you, tucked in your purse.

You guys are so sweet but I really can't go in October. I tried checking to see if the show dates have been posted for next year but it's not up yet. I'd have to go in November, like the first week ... can't interfere with Halloween. But you all voted in October and it's probably better weather wise for you all. If the show is late in the month, maybe I can book myself out for a Saturday (I have Sunday and Mondays off)... but I hate for you all to change your plans.

Victoria, go have the consult before paying for the prophy. I still have to have my swap scheduled. Can you believe I have been too busy? I still have my herceptin treatments and I had my ooph, so this has not been the priority. But I really need to get it done near the first part of the year.

Nothing is sealed and nobody has plane tickets yet. And Debbie said she can't come! I'm thinking..let's all fly to England! Haven't been there in a long time..closer for Jill (and me, too!). Still far for Paula..she's really far!

I could do November, too. At this point it really doesn't matter when ('cept summer cuz of my kid going into the army).

Waiting to hear from Cindy about today's "adventure" in Biopsyland.

Things are looking up. I was allowed in to see Sam today. He tried to wag his tail when he saw me! He is sat on a sheepskin, on a heat pad ,wrapped in towels and blankets. They say that he is still poorly but he has a fantastic spirit and is being very sweet with the nurses.
They have written 'ouch' on his bandages and drawn some love hearts!

The nurses have said they will try and get him eating soon but he is not allowed his favourite curly wurliys.
