tadah....i'm smiling for the same reason
-
HOW RUDE! nobody wants to have anything to do with me........I called the ONC's office today and they told me to call my Primary doctor. She is all booked up.....I had to use the cancer word so now they are going to see me Monday......I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like complainer.....But, I finally got up the courage to call and I got such a run a round.
Debbie, I am so glad Sam is doing so well and you are on the trail of that lady. Maybe we will have to rename you Sherlock. I wonder how she can sleep at night.......
Ravdeb, How pretty Israel look's. I thought like Victoria that it was all sandy in Israel. .
Brenda, Nice pictures.
Victoria, You look great! My husband is the jealous type he would have a fit if I had a male friend.
Cindy, Sound's like everything went well for you. I bet you will get good new's in no time.
Laura, I didn't forget about you. I will be there with you in spirit on Monday.
Tracy, Have a good time.
Tadah, I am with you........Hoping our troops come home soon......
Just went out to dinner with some friends, had a good time.......
Hi to everyone else.......
Graycie -
Ravdeb: You do have a good camera. What kind is it?
Kelly: Guess why I did not have the hot pink one... They only had large ones left! I had a very light pink one on, and they said it was for survivors. I also got the hat and other things, like a medal, pin, a rose, and other things my friends insisted I get because I "deserved" them. Did you notice that my friends had "Brenda's Breasts" on their pink sheet? A TV newscaster even announced my team's name. (And these are schoolteachers we are talking about.)
Would love to do the walk with you next time around, Kelly!
Debbie: Yup, you saw palm trees, but there were other kinds, and I can't identify them at the moment. Thanks for the compliments. I'm happy to hear that Sam was able to stand. Your vet bills must be huge!
Cindy: Nice to hear from you again!!
No school tomorrow (Veteran's Day commemorated)!! Thanks again and hello to everyone else!!! -
I was pleased with your elections too!
Arrrgghhh, got my hair cut today and before I knew it she had cut it back to the way it was 6 weeks ago. She was yakkking away as it hit the floor. After she was done, I was asking her how was I ever going to grow it out. She said "oh, were you trying to grow it". It is an OK cut but...
Mary, yes, once my husband is gone it is me and the kids. My Ex lives in Ohio and sees them for a month in the summer and sometimes over March Break. So, it is single parenting once again. Saturday I take My DH to the airport, I'll miss him.
Victoria, I don't see a pic of you. Have you posted it somewhere? Did you not have a prosthesis? Wow, I bought mine a year ago and it is pretty good. I don't think any unknowing person would realize it is not mine. Hope you like what you got.
Jill, glad you had a get a way. Looks like a fabulous spot.
Debbie, good news on your Aunt and Sam. Hope you nab the ferocious beast and it's owner. They should pay your Vet bill!
I could switch to November...for Lauras.
Ravdeb, I am hoping you find your "warrier" spirit again. Just think, you had early stage disease with aggressive treatment. Chances are excellent you are cured and should be around a long time. Nice to hear you are still eating chocolate. When we meet we will have to eat some together.
Tracy, weekends, breakfasts, theatre...sounds like the new life is suiting you.
Cindy, good to hear your biopsy is done, now hoping you have heard some good news.Have you? And Laura, hoping that your biopsy and news will be good too.
Fists up! -
Good morning Ladies.
Thanks maryanne..I am feeling more "chipper" today. Some days are good and some are not so good. I do best in the mornings so since it's morning and it's sunny and quite nice out...I'm doing well..even without my fix of chocolate!
Brenda..that is so funny..Brenda's Breasts! I have the new Canon S3. It's so much fun!!!! I had a Minolta/konica 10x zoom that was stolen when our house was broken into. They don't make that anymore..no more Minolta..I think they were bought by sony. Anyway..this has 12x optical zoom and it's amazing! My brother has the same one..he also just got his.
Tadah... I hope they bring the soldiers home, too. Enough is enough.
Victoria..I thought you were taller!!!!
Graycie...I'm so sorry you got so frustrated. I know that feeling of finally making the call and then the problems that arise with it!!! YUCK! Good luck with your appt. and let us know what they say.
I got my insurance coverage for my ct angio. Now I have to go through the process of an appt. Hopefully they won't give me a problem since I am marked down that I had to cancel 2 appts because of insurance delays. We'll see. She said they'd call me on Sunday.
Tracy...have fun!!!
Laura..have a fun weekend, do things you like to do and keep busy!
I will get out this weekend and take a picture of my house and my animals. -
maryanne.. I bet your hair looks great..just that when you are trying to let it grow...the guy who cuts my hair has the goal of letting my hair grow out..only I'm not sure that's what I want at this point with all this white fluff! Maybe we should trade hairdressers???
-
Here's my house..or at least part of it. Note Fluffy, my cat, running across the driveway!
-
Victoria..as I continue to take over this thread... you look great in that picture with your dh.
No..most people in Israel do NOT keep kosher. The majority of Israelis are secular. There are some secular Israelis who keep kosher because they may have learned it from home. But, most don't. Then there are people like me who grew up non-orthodox but religious. This is a growing community here but still small. And most of the people from this group (the Reform Movement or what we call in Israel..the Progressive Movement)do not keep kosher anyway. I grew up in the Conservative Movement in the States and we did keep kosher. Am just carrying on the tradition.
Probably more info than you needed!!! -
Lovely house Ravdeb. its looks very big - in England we would probably get about 20 on your plot!
SAM IS COMING HOME LATER!!!
Unfortunately, things are very unpleasant with the other people.
Aman came knocking on the door yestaerday saying it was his dog and to take my ******* posters down ( he doesnt know quite how many there were!!). He was really aggressive , saying that we had no rifgt to put them up and upset his wife????? She had left a name ( which my dad thought he heard ), and she hadnt been back as she was traumatized and didnt know what abuse she would face. Iexplained that dad was having an emphysema do and couldnt be sure what he had heard , and did he really want us to ring everyone with that name in the phone book - that way everyone would have known. He was aggressive so i shut the door.
Later that night i had a parents evening so Roger went - they live 15 doors away. He was there an hour and for most of that time they were shouting at him. Roger was very calm , asking what they were doing about the dog. It turns out that its a rescue dog and a behaviour specialist has advised them it needs to be muzzled in crowds as it will go for small animals. Roger only threatened them with the bill when they got really bad - that just made them worse, saying he had only come for the money. we admit that sam should not have got out , but they are saying it is all of his fault. They keep saying 'our dog was on a lead and under control' When rog said that he wasnt secure as he got free they said 'oh he does that'. If we had met them coming around the corner it would have gor free and had him , lead or no lead, it would have shook off a lead to chase our cat.
sorry for ranting but i am so shook by this its untrue. I cant stand unpleasantness - especially with people we have to live near. Last night i was shaking and this morning i was sick. I just want to get sam back and forget about it all.
Debbie -
As they say!
Just got him home, £917.00 later - we have to go back on Monday. He was so excited - tried jumping out of the car.
He is ensconsed on an Actionman duvet in front of the radiator. HIs haircut makes him look a bit like a baddy from a bad oriental kung foo film but its good to have him home again.
Ravdeb - do you have special shops? I know in some of the big towns and cities we have speciality food shops for knosher and halaal here
Debbie -
I've got to run..but was just SO happy to see Sam back at home and on our thread! Good for Sam. I feel so badly for you, Debbie, because I can understand the rage you are feeling.
That dog really tore your little one apart. Those who have dogs like those neighbors, need to be much more responsible than how they were...even if your little one got out loose. Your little one wasn't trained to attack.
What do you mean by special shops? If you are talking about kosher food markets..well...most stores here are kosher. Our country is governed by a religious party and so most grocery stores are kosher. You actually have to look for the non-kosher meats. That's a very big thing here..like a delicacy for many seculars who are kind of rebellious. There are restaurants that cater to these kinds of people and frankly..they do great business!
Okay..must run..gotta pick up the elderly woman for services tonight. Laura..played Rabbi Wannabe and guided my friend who will be leading services tonight because our rabbi won't be there. So, I gotta be there with the cue cards LOL.
Love you ladies!!!! -
So it's hard to buy bacon and pork chops?
Keeping kosher --- that means you have to buy your food that is considered kosher and then you have to keep your meats separate when you cook? I know pigs and aren't some shellfish considered non kosher??? -
Can you imagine life with no bacon sandwiches with brown sauce on ??
Ok Ravdeb , now i am back on ae even keel with gey those JDs in the post.
Victoria - keep lighting those candles. The vets have said it is near miraculous that Sam has recovered, my dad has been lighting candles like there is a power cut.
He has lots of tablets to take so we are going to cook some liver, cut it up small and feed him them that way. His wounds didnt ooze much today so the dressings dont need doint till MOn.
The dog warden has been. She had visited the other house. She cant quite believe that the other dog did so much damage ( it is a lurcher ) . She said it wasnt the dogs fault as it was a decent dog, just not the right dog for those people and a housing estate. They have begged her to take the dog away and so it is being taken to a lurcher rescue centre. by all accounts the woman is still shaking and says she wants the dog gone. Fair Enough.
Have a good weekend
Debbie -
Wow..what a story. I think it's ending well, Debbie. And I'm looking forward to the JD!
I do hope Sam keeps improving.
As for keeping kosher... First of all, there are certain meats we don't eat..lots of rules that decide what meat we can eat and what part of the body of the animal we can eat from. Also..fish..we eat no shell fish.
I've had bacon. My dad grew up in a fairly secular home and they ate bacon so when we were little we'd eat bacon if we slept over at my grandparents' house. We thought it was just a treat..had no idea why we didn't eat it at home. So, I know what bacon tastes like. I honestly don't feel cheated of any foods because it's a choice of mine.
In Israel I have no problem keeping kosher because everything here is marked kosher. It's by law.
So, outside of Israel I have to read the ingredients on the packages.
We also don't mix milk with meat so I have to make sure that packaged goods don't have milk products in them if I'm having a meat meal.
We have separate dishes for meat and for dairy.
Basically, unless I'm staying in a home that keeps kosher,I go vegetarian when I'm visiting in the States or on trips outside of Israel. Or..we are allowed to eat fish in any restaurant..fish that would be considered kosher. I don't know why. But we aren't allowed to eat meat or chicken.. I think this is because if the animal wasn't killed in a specific way and the butchering watched over by a Jew whose job it is to watch over this, then it's not kosher and fish is different since it's caught all the same way. I'm just guessing about this one! Should ask my rabbi about that!
Debbie..by the way..what is the brown sauce on the bacon? I never heard of that. -
Also, Debbie, what's a lurcher? (Two countries separated by a common language!) I'm so happy Sam is home!!!
-
OMG, I just googled "lurcher, dog" and found out they're huge crossbreed dogs bred to chase small animals.
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/lurcher.htm -
I recognize the saluki in it in the picture. Our friends have salukis..they have a couple of them and when one passes on or runs away or gets stolen (they are apparently worth a lot) they replace them with more salukis. I will never understand why except that they are fairly graceful and slender and the owner is very slender..they look alike! But they are nasty like the lurcher if left out on their own and a cute bunny hops by. I don't like dogs that enjoy hunting out small animals!
One time when we had a litter of kitties (we get them a lot) I got attached to one of the kittens and it would allow me to carry it all over the place. The neighbor's dog was roaming he street and I was sitting in our yard with this little thing...the dog came running at me. I was sitting on the curb on the driveway and thought the dog would attack me so I jumped and the kitty jumped out of my arms, the dog grabbed it, went running back to his house next door, swung the poor kitty around while the dog's owner got her broom out to try and stop her dog from doing it, and then the dog buried the poor kitty alive. We couldn't find the kitten anywhere. My neighbor was so upset. Her husband is a vet.
Oh boy do I have stories of our animals..we've had everything including 2 donkeys!
Victoria..love your new avatar..is that a painting of yours? Yes..we use separate utensils, dishes, pots and pans, sponges for washing the dishes, dish towels... The only thing that can be used for both is glass..not pyrex if you cook in it. There are so many rules!
Hope Sam is doing better... -
Graycie -
I feel bad that they put you through that! I hope they can help you figure out the hip pain. Hang in there. Monday will be an important day for both of us.
Cindy -
Have you heard anything yet?
Brenda -
Great photos! You look FAB! I wish I could have joined you. The walks are so much fun.
debbie -

amy -
Got the news re my biopsy late this afternoon. It's just fat!! Woo-hoo! There wasn't even any breast tissue in the samples. Just fat! No wonder the mammo and ultrasound saw nothing, even though we all could feel it.
Color me relieved! I also liked my name in Russian! LOL -
Cindy -
So very happy for you! Yay, you!
Laura -
Cindy, this is the best news so far on this whole danged 156 pages! So far so good and now waiting for Laura's good news!!!!!
Brenda, it's a date, I have a motorhome and me and one of girlfriends (she has a trailer) are going to stay down at Newport Beach that weekend. Are you in for it? Otherwise we can plan you coming up and/or me coming down to San Diego. But girlie, we should really get together soon for a lunch, maybe in December?????
Debbie, I am so happy that you have some resolution with this lady. I can tell, you are a good neighbor.
Ravdeb, so does that mean you can't have pasta dishes with a cream sauce and meat in it??? No chicken alfredo? OK, I shouldn't say can't, cuz you can, but you choose that don't eat that? I thought it just had to do with preparation, not eating. Oh and b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. house LOVE IT.
Victoria, cute hubby, if you have any questions about the expander let me know, still have mine in and haven't had time for the swap yet.
Where is TaDah?
Amy, have a great party!!
Where is Paula?
Cathy, hope you are doing great. Is it getting freezing there yet?
Graycie ..... hang in there. Will be thinking of you Monday...
---------
Monday is Herceptin countdown ........ 9 more treatments to go .... go in the morning and will sleep the rest of the day, Dad is coming to watch the little busy body!! -
kelly -
Your curiosity is amusing. If anyone should take a trip around the world...it's you! You would marvel at every religion, every custom, every ritual, every thing! (If I won the lottery, I would give you a trip around the world.) Best wishes to you on Monday. I'm so happy you are down to 9 treatments! You are so strong and you are such a trooper mama!
Laura -
Victoria -
Who is Dave? Please let me know. I am so sorry. Tuesday is an important day for you. You will be in my thoughts.
Laura -
Victoria..I'm so upset about Dave's news. I'm so sad. I hate this stuff so much. I'm sick about it. I wish both of you good luck at your next appointments. I wish there was something wonderful we could do to get rid of all of this. You are in my thoughts, but you know that...
Laura..I love Russian! I cracked up when I saw that!!! OMG!
CINDY!!!!! THAT is the BESTEST news yet!!! So, so happy to hear that!!!!
Yes, Kelly..that is true. Can't eat that stuff together. In fact..if I have a meat meal (remember, there are lots of rules to this kosher stuff)I technically need to wait 3 hours before I can have any dairy..even if it's a cookie that happens to have some dairy product in it. I have never kept to that rule myself..I might wait an hour but my daughter waits. She learned that from friends..not me!
There are also meals where there is no dairy or meat. Some people have separate dishes, utensils, pots/pans for that. I don't. Gets a bit confusing. I'm not that strict. Separate sinks are common in religious homes. And rich religious people have separate kitchens! I'd LOVE that! I'd even take the separate sinks but I don't have that. However, my dishwasher is only for meat dishes. My dh isn't happy with that.
Laura... we'll be there for you on Monday.
Graycie...we'll be there for you, too. Luckily this is virtual so we can be EVERYWHERE!!!
And the rest of you ladies....
Have a nice Saturday. Sunny here again. I'm off.... -
Cindy - fantastic news , i could cry for you i am so happy.
Amy - point me to the kitchen - i will guard thr desserts!
Tracey - that sucks, it really does. Tell delightful dave that we are all behind him, and we are a pretty impressive bunch. You have been so strong in all that youve had thrown at you this past 18 months that i think you have been led to Dave for a reason, to sweep him up and carry him through this. PLEASE let us know how things go for him, but only if he is ok with that.
Love my russian name - think i will have my business cards done by them.
I feel old this morning - we took it in turns sleeping on the floor with SAm ( well we were on the floor - Sam had a duvet) We carry him outside and every now and again he moves a little. Hr breathes funnt now and again. He has decided that he is too sick to eat anything but baked ham (hmm) but is doing well at finding people to sit hand feeding him! -
My chemo brain must be working full-time...Amy..pass the chocolate my way. Have a fun party!
Debbie..hope things perk up. Seems like Sam is lovin' the spoiling part of the healing process. He deserves it!
(By the way..it was Victoria's Dave who got the bad news.) -
Ravdeb, you have a lovely house. I just realized that we have two Debs and two Tracys here. I think its time you all started calling me my actual name but it may cause confusion with Tracy from Seattle. I suppose Tracy NY could work. Ponder it and see how pans out.
I am here getting into winter mode which is basically heading straight home after work and getting into bed. Its so dark at 5pm, it seems like I really should be in bed!
Still working my part time job, wrapping and massaging my arm and folding them daggone bandages. My sleeves are finally finished and I get them fitted on Wednesday. I see my regular surgeon on Tuesday, the physiatrist and LE therapist on Wednesday and my PS on Thursday next week. Hell, BC is a second full time job, isn't it?! -
ravdeb -
I love the photos of your house! It's so nice...and tropical.
TaDah -
Hey there! Those sleeves will make your life alot easier. We could call you wildtracy. LOL
