Rosemarie... I went into Pete Harris's site. His music is WONDERFUL!!! Ladies..you can listen to parts of his cd's.

I'm so sorry he has a brain tumor. I read his bio and he sounds so optimistic. I hope he really is. How horrible. I can't understand why we all know so many with tumors in all kinds of horrible places. I don't get it. Too sad.

I'm still waiting to get my results back from my oncologist. She's making me sick now. I left a message yesterday AND today.

CRAP! I think that stinks. Why do you have to leave a million messages to get an answer?

I still haven't gotten an okay to have my CT angio. I'm going over to the clinic in the morning to get a prescription and ask them once again what the heck is going on. Doctor wants CT to give proper treatment for a threatening problem and the stupid insurance board isn't so sure I deserve it. Same thing with the chemo. I'm ready to sue if they don't allow it this time.

So..get on their backs, Tadah. Sorry they are putting you through this.

Tadah....I'm sorry you are dealing with the waiting game....ugh, that is so hard to deal with. No news is good news. I never hear anything from my onc. after I give blood and I feel that's a good thing.

I'm home early today and totally completely utterly relaxing in my pajamas at 2pm in the afternoon. I have my support group tonight and then dinner with the ladies, and then tomorrow....I leave for St. John for my husband's best friend's destination wedding

Other than that, hanging in there. I had the most bizarre freak out over the weekend...my hubby and I were hanging out all weekend, relaxing, enjoying the weather, and all of a sudden I started crying. He asked why and I said, "I'm just so happy and I'm scared something is going to happen to take it away again." Ah, the life of a breast cancer survivor. Grrr as I always say.

Anyways, have a great weekend ladies!! I will miss you, but will be back on Sunday to catch up

    Love,
    Amy

    5:15 eastern time
I'm soon to go home and just checked in to see what's being said today.

Amy: wow! you have the most fun trips. Hope this one is great!

Tadah: sorry about the wait for the onc. Too bad . . . hope this means its good news.

All the costume pics were so cute and fun. I didn't give out treats this year. Stress and all just took the "fun" out of me. Hubby was working late so I took myself out to dinner at KFC and read a good book. Also, I didn't want alot of candy in the house after my talk with my doctor last week. Trying to be smarter about food choices.

Hope everyone is okay and happy. Wishing you a good night.

Well, I am a celebrity too I guess. The local new's came to my front door and took a video of me giving out candy. My grandson also made a debut.........I made the 11:00 new's...............funny.....We had a lot of kids. I went through 6 bags of candy.

Rosemarie, Love your Halloween picture's of your kids.......They look so cute! I am sorry about Mike's Uncle. I will check out his web site.

Ravdeb, Yippee, you finally got your camera. Now we expect to see some pictures......lol

Victoria, That is wonderful, Sammie's husband and family is going to cherish your picture. What a beautiful home she had. Sewing too?? Boy you are a talented one.

Laura, Hope to hear from you soon. Hope all is well.

Tadah, Maybe everything is good and that is why you aren't hearing from your ONC. I am like you Amy, I never hear anything from my ONC either so I just assume everything is fine. They said they would contact if not.

Amy, Have fun at the wedding......You seem to travel a lot, that's a good thing......your lucky! I think I would consider that therapy. That has to help take your mind off of things. It seems like we are all having a hard time lately since we hit the one year mark. It is scary I have to admit and every ache, and pain is frightening. In the past couple weeks I thought I had intestinal cancer, throat cancer and now bone cancer. It just goes to show how our imagination get's away from us. If I keep going on like this I am never going to make it. Oh BTW did I tell you girl's I am a hypochondriac? HA I am kind of kidding but it sure sounds like I could be........

    I wish everyone well........

    Graycie - congrats!

Quick question, as I do tend to worry a bit too...am I the only one who has had no follow up blood work, scans, etc??? My onc. felt around my collar bone, my armpits and thumped around my stomach then said I was fine...should I be insisting on follow up??? I just don't get it...

Rosemarie, I felt the same as you but he finally did blood work last time I went. Maybe you should ask them why they aren't doing any bloodwork. They also poke me in the same places what do you think they are looking for? tumors?

I went to Pete's website. He is really good and I also read his bio and he has a very upbeat attitude. I hope he can beat this.....

    Victoria, Enjoy your weekend.....

I reckon that no news is good news. I'm not worried about the results of the blood test really, I have faith that its going to be alright. At this point its about the courtesy of returning my phone call. Its my LIFE I'm calling about, not getting my cable repaired or groceries delivered.

I love destination weddings. I think that's the way to go. My next wedding is going to be one. Its fun, everyone pays their own way and the liquor is free!!

Yay Graycie!! You are a TV star now!

Rosemarie..I don't get blood tests or scans, either. My dh asked her at the last meeting why not, and she said because they aren't needed. They won't show anything accurately. She goes by the mammo/US (which I think is garbage anyway!)and how I'm feeling in general.

However, she did tell me to go to my family doctor for a general blood work up. My surgeon said the same thing. I did that on my own anyway.

And..my surgeon is asking for another mammo and US.

My dh wants me to have a bone scan. My onc said it's not necessary but he wants to push it at my next visit with her. I told him it depended on how I felt but also was thinking about a lung scan. I doubt I'll get any of it. Still haven't gotten an okay for my CT angio so why would I get a bone scan cuz "I want one"?

Victoria..definitely..this board is addictive! Seems that only you all understand. She means well, but a friend of mine asked me if maybe I should push myself a bit more in order to get my stamina back. I have told another friend that I'm sick of "well meaning" friends. I want them to, instead, try to put themselves in my shoes...having had chemo that killed all my healthy cells and radiation treatments.

Never mind..I'm going through an angry stage. I'm sick of feeling like I do.

Rosemarie - same here, i get poked and prodded ( patted on the head!) weighed? and sent away. When i have a mammo in Jan it will be the first one since i was diagnosed May 05 - nearly 2 years! I had a bone density scan a few weeks ago, purely to check my bone density after going through menopause due to oophrectomy. Other than that i had a body scan just before my lumpectomy to check for and cells that may have gone on a foreign holiday and thats been it!
What exactly is a destination wedding? My friend went on a safari stomp wedding once - that sounded fun.
Well better go - have to recycle my plastic bottles on the way to work.
Would you credit it , councils are on about putting a chip in your wheelie bin to weigh your rubbish and check what type you are putting in and then charging those who put too much in. We have to jump on ours weekly to get it all in! We separate out into the black bin, the green bin, the blue box and the red box for kerbside collections. We pay council tax each month ( to cover dustbin lorries, fire, police etc). At £134 a month i think i pay for my rubbish collection thankyou!!
    Sorry , morning rant over

Debbie..I'm still trying to translate all that English you wrote...let's see.."kerbside" must be curbside in American English. A chip in your wheelie bin??? Is wheelie bin just the garbage can? Dustbin lorries?? Is that garbage pick-up???
OMG! I really don't know any English! I remember when I went to England with my girlfriend about 30 years ago. We went there cuz it was our first overseas trip and we wanted to not have to worry about the language. HA! We got to the airport and our luggage wasn't there and we couldn't understand a word anyone was saying!!!

A Safari Stomp?? That sounds funny!

Okay...so ...quiz for the day? Does anyone else here know what a jammy dodger is? Probably Tadah does. I do now! And Debbie does.

Don't look it up if you don't know. Just take a wild guess and let's see what comes up.

Or..maybe I'm the only one who had never heard of this?

Debbie, your post made me laugh. Here in Toronto we have green bin pickup once a week - I am very careful and conscientious with it. One bin cannot weigh more than 44 pounds. Then we have recyle every two weeks, and garbage on the alternate two weeks - 6 bag limit, soon to be reduced to 4 (how can a large family do that). So, for example, if you have a yogurt, and dont finish it, the yogurt goes in the green bin, the foil top goes in the garbage and the container goes in recycle! My son-in-law from New York thinks its nuts, and can't get over it when he is here.

I am going to New York today for 10 days, excited to see the kids, but my night sweats are bad, and there I wont have the overhead fan. My daughter in law (23 years old, a wonderful girl) is just coming off prednisone for the second time this year, because of bad Crohn's disease flare up (she is such a pretty girl, but the steriod treatment puffs up her face to the point that people do not recognize her) - the next drug is purinethol - has anyone heard of this? it is also a cancer drug!!

Ravdeb - you speak it like a native!
We have black wheeliebin one week, green wheeliebin the alternate week ( garden and cardboard ) blue box on first week ( tins and bottles and silver foil) and red box ( papers and magazines and windowless envelopes). I just wait to see what everyone else is utting out and copy!

Wow! So much recycling! My parents have colored bins for different recycling things, too... but not so separated, I don't think. I know there are newspapers, cans and plastic bottles but I think that's it. We have bins too, but private ones. We take our newspapers to a big green container and plastic bottles except for laundry soap bottles, to a big yellow cage thingy. That's about it. And nobody gives a hoot if you don't do this and just throw it into your "wheelie bin" at home. The only thing not allowed in the home garbage can is trimmings from trees. Those get picked up on certain days. Of course..I can't remember which days those are!

CRAP! Insurance will still not come through on the CT I have scheduled for Monday. I got a fax now that said that my Duplex results show no change and because of that, unless I'm going in for surgery....blah blah blah.

In other words, my doctor is not allowed to use the CT as a diagnostic tool so that she can better treat me. Instead, I will be able to get this only should my condition deteriorate to the point that I may have a stroke or just die on the spot.

Same with the chemo...they said that unless I was Stage 4 I would not be allowed the Taxol. I was fortunate and it was donated to me. Didn't want to get to Stage 4 so quickly.

I'm mad. Still in angry mode...

jammy dodger....hmmm, my children at 8:30 pm?????

Wow, sounds like a full time job just taking out the trash! I just learned if we want to recycle here it costs $5.00/month. I never heard of paying extra to recycle. (even if it is only $5.00!!)

Today is my garbage day also but not so complicated. Just one bin for recyclables and the rest goes in the regular cans except for grass and leaves. We keep those separate. We don't have to pay extra to recycle. They should pay you.....HA.

I just got the call on my bone density test. I have some bone lost but not enough to put me on anything but calcium and vitamin D. They will check it again in 2 years. Ravdeb, as far as the bone scan I don't think they do them unless you have had any positive lymph nodes. I had one after my lumpectomy and another one after chemo since my sentinol node was positive.

I used to love jammy dodgers. They were/are a biscuit (cookie(), two actually. The bottom one was spread with jam and the top one had a face cut out on the top so it was like a sandwich. The term 'jammy dodger" evolved into referring to a crafty or shady person.

The dustbin lorry is a garbage truck. Y'all didn't know I was bi-lingual!!

My oncologist called me this morning at 7:30am to tell me that me results are fine. She's lucky, I was going to camp out at her office this afternoon until she spoke to me. My PS is around the corner from her and I have to see him at 1pm.

I had a bone scan last year and it cost me $485 out of my pocket. It was worth it for the peace of mind though.

All of our trash bins get collected the same day, thankfully. Green: leaves, tree trimmings, lawn, etc. Black: trash Gray topped green bin: recycle materials (all cardboard, tins, aluminum, newspaper, junk mail, etc).

TaDah, I am so glad you finally got your results!

Ravdeb, can you appeal their decision?

Graycie, how is the hair doing? Still wigless?

Debbie, what is a safari stomp???

RoseMarie..that is soooooooooo funny..jammy dodger is your kid at bed time!!! LOL!!! That's a good one!

I'm bilingual but British English is not the other language apparently! When I first moved to Israel I taught English in the jr high and high school. I told my students it was a mistake to say..."I went to hospital" because American English is...I went to THE hospital". Took me a while to figure out that it was British English that ruled in those days. I had to learn to spell...neighbour and colour...

Okay..so no bone scan. But my CTA! I NEED that and it was my neuro-ophthalmologist who asked for it. Insurance won't cover it. I'm so MAD!

I had a good day yesterdday. I was off work, so Dave & I went shopping. Fun time and a guy who likes to shop!!! How cool is that???? He kept wanting to buy me things and I am just not used to that, but I did get a frying pan (so he can come over & cook breakfast) and a very pretty purple sweater..... Nice day.....

Oh, I have had two. My first marriage lasted 7 years, I married when I was 21 and divorced when I was 28. I remarried a few weeks after that, huge mistake. That marriage lasted about 25 minutes or thereabouts.

I recently ended an 11 year relationship and I am currently grooming my third husband. Life is short and I love an adventure!

No Tadah - they are smiley faces - jammy dodgers have heart shapes on top!
A safari stomp. They got married in Eyam ( site of the plague for anyone interested) And teh best man has lots of peices of paper in his pocket, each one with a different pub on and lots of peices of paper with the guests names in the other ( guests dont buy presesnts) He takes a pub and a person and you trek to that pub for starters and that person pays. then a different pub and person for main course then pudding , then drinks etc. By all accounts they lost half of the guests by the end.
My friend who went to that also went to a wedding where the bridesmaid was a 6ft 2 biker called Steve dressed in a bridesmaid dress, one where the groom poledanced at the reception and one of two men marrying where one had a normal tux on and the other had a tux but the jacket tails were really long and carried by two gothic bridesmaids!!
Ours friends who married in Austria recently clain they went there to avoid us as we have so many silly wedding stories to tell.
One friend got married to a nightclub singer in Blackpool and all of the wedding guests got wheel clamped ( he later ran off to S Africa with all her money). Her second marriage was in mid Wales and they transported all of the guests on trailers pulled behind ribbon decked landrovers to a farm where they had a bouncy castle and barn dance.
Another one was late as her vintage car couldnt get up the hill , but it didnt matter as we were all locked out as the vicar couldnt find the key. The bridesmaid fell in the river and the vicar got ink up the front of the brides dress.
Another had a fight at the reception with the groom and bestman threatening to kill each other.
The one we went to recently had the grooms step parents storm off and not come back , this after being 2 hours late starting due to most of the male guests watching England in the world cup.
One we went to had 2 cakes as both of the mums wanted to make one and wouldnt back down. at this one the bridesmaid wore trainers under her dress because she had flown in and forgotten her shoes.
The best one was someone my sister works with. She bought a new pair of shiney white trainers to go with her dress. She got barred from the hotel half way through her own reception !!
Even the one we went to in America was odd. The limo was too big to get around some of the corners and got stranded downtown PIttsburgh. My cousin was the best man and is 7ft 4, the cheif bridesmais was 5 ft 2 - the photos were hilarious!!
We dont get invited to many any more!!
