    Auntie Em,

<>I think you're thinking of Survivorman. There's also another program I think called Man vs. Wild. I've watched those, too, but Andrew and Tony aren't into the "survival" thing. They'll go to places like Singapore and search out the local delicacies...really, beating cobra heart was one of them. I think they're actually on the Travel Channel because their interest in food is so...globally weird.

Ah, I'd like to see how one of those guys does after a chemo session that leaves you unable to taste sweet from sour; spoiled from not rotten.

I haven't watched Idol since the original show. It seemed unique, then, but I didn't like being "tied" to my TV so much. So as the second season began, I moved on and I haven't looked back. I figured it was the same old same old.

    Hi ladies,

At work today...when I get home, I am just too tired to get on the computer.

Lots of stories about animals..makes me want to be a vegetarian.

AE...glad to hear about your biopsy scheduled for next week. I am sure that is  a huge relief, and then when it comes back negative..we will all dance!!!

Sue, did you have tx yesterday?  I feel so lost.  I try to read and catch up, then it doesn't seem to stay with my brain.

Well...my headaches are back!! Today is better, but yesterday was horrible. I made an appt. with my family doctor for tomorrow morning. We will see what he say's. I am still on the anti depressant. But I don't like it.  I feel better...but it upsets my stomach, and it also..like..Nancy...makes me constipated.  I am not used to that.  So I think when I see her next month...I am going to talk about switching meds or just go off of it.

Well...gotta run...since I am at work. I'll check in with you all later.

    Muah...to Ulla...kisses...we love you!!

    xoxo

    Lisa

P.S....Mel...hope you are having a wonderful time with your family!!!

Sue, I thought that you might have crashed after not being able to sleep last week. You feeling healthy is a step in the right direction. When you hit rock bottom the only way out is straight up or sideways and I think that you are heading straight up. I don't know how you have handled working and taking treatments and being a great parent to your great boys.

    Enjoy your evening. Sheila

I'm so mad, ladies!!  We were about ten minutes into AI last night and our power went out!!!  We all sat around and grumbled until we decided just to go to bed.  The power came back on a couple hours later.  Grrrrrrrr!!!!

Hang in there, Judie.  We all have gone through our little periods of depression.  Mine was actually just a couple of weeks ago.  I'm slowly coming out of it.  I think the arrival of spring is helping.  Just remember that we're here for you if you need to vent or if you need some words of encouragement.

Sue, you sound so upbeat today!  I'm glad you're feeling well emotionally.  It's been a long, hard road, but you're almost at the end.  Trust me, rads are no big deal.

Good to see you, Lisa!  I'm sorry your headache's back.  I'm glad your seeing your gp soon.  Have you tried to get Olivia's commercial on You Tube or anything like that?  I'd love to see it!

    Hugs,

    Karen

Karen...I am not sure how to go about getting the commercial on u-tube.  Maybe I could ask Olivia...??

I am sorry you missed AI last night.  The best was the rocker guy...David Cook...I think?  Omg...he was incredible!  I love his voice. Well..tonight...you can watch...maybe they will show some of it.

Getting ready to leave work..it's after 7pm here..I am going to go home to change and then meet some old friends for a cocktail.  Well..maybe ice water for me....not much taste for the cold one's lately.

Oh Sue, lovey, I am so glad you are doing so well mentally. I think just knowing that you are nearing the finish line has given you that famous "SECOND WIND" the athletes talk about.

I have to talk again about the boiled dog. When we flew to China, of course, we had a 3 across seat and, of course, I was in the middle (I always get the middle seat). Well, next to my on this 15 hour flight was a very well dressed, nice man from China. During the looonngg flight, he did not say much, spoke english perfectly, and was a complete gentlemen the whole time. Then, as we got nearer to Tokyo (we changed planes there), he started to talk to me. He spoke of a few things, and we talked about China, and he said, "Well, I am sure you will be offended, but the best thing to eat in China, is dog, it is delicious". I was very proud of myself, I said, "Oh, really", and continued to struggle to keep from screaming. Just different cultures. I know as I grew up, we always ate chicken livers. And ground up, they are a Jewish delicacy, that I love. WELL, you know that nutty guy who eats the awful things? He said the other night, "And we are going to eat chicken hearts and livers". I was shocked that he thought that was strange.

Well, Sue, baby, you are coming back to life. I am so glad. This has been a frickin' nightmare, that is just what it is, no way around it. And in the winter, all alone with two children. YIKES! Sounds like a book plot. You have been so brave and strong. You amaze us all.

    Love you all, Shirlann

Yeesh!!!  It's snowing buckets here!  What on earth is going on with our weather?  It's SPRING for goodness sakes!!!  Sunshine!  I want sunshine!!  I was chatting with some other bc survivors as I waited to have my rads yesterday and they were telling me that the reason Washington State has the most cases of bc is because we get so little sun.  The one lady is planning to move!

    Hugs to everyone!!

Well here in the Great State of NC we do have spring. yesterday the temps were in the 60's and low of 40. today they are calling for 70's and sunny! my flowers are blooming in the yard. I sent a picture of the jonquils to my son and he asked if they were the flowers that he kept mowing down! They are growing in the most unusual places in the yard. I don't want to move them, I am afraid that I will kill them. I have a 'brown' thumb. though I have moved some creeping phlox and grape hyacinths from the yard to the front bank that cannot be mowed and they are thriving. The bradford pears are blooming and the cars are covered in yellow pollen. So much for a beautiful spring (sneezing).

It snowed here too!!!!!! Dont know what the heck is going on!!!! My poor flowers are all above ground and Im afraid to take a look to see if they got frosted.....my daffodils have been blooming for a bit now and are very pretty....I love that bright yellow!!!!

Hmmmm Karen, not sure about the no sun/bc connection for Washington state...I havent lived on the coast since I was about 8 yrs old....we get tons of sun here and very hot weather (100 +) in the summer and I got bc :(

Sue-Love seeing you in such good spirits....I agree with whomever said that between spring in the air and the fact that you are nearing your finish line with treatment has brought this on!!!!!!!!

Lisa-Ive never used U-Tube either but would love to see Olivia's commercial...

Sheila-my girlfriend has a heck of time with plants to.....she says all she has to do it look at them and they die.....good rule of thumb for working with plants is good soil and even water...

Ulla-Congrads on finishing rads!!!!! tomorrow when it is time for your treatment do something special for yourself in its place....a word of caution though....I didnt realize it even though others warned me, but you are going to feel lost for a bit until your schedule gets back to a more normal without the rad appts daily....kind of strange to feel that you out of the loop with things but thats kind of what it feels like....

Jane-I keep meaning to ask...what is that little puppy your holding? I love him!!!!

Oh and Sue, our little Libby is growing like a weed!!!!!! she is now 7 weeks old already....I want to wait until she is 9 weeks then move her home so getting closer!!!!!! I stopped on my way home from work to play with her last night...I gave her tons of kisses and told her that her Auntie Sue sent 1/2 of them ;)

Well, guess I have procrasitnated enough this morning....need to work on the budget to see if I have to install a spending freeze on these guys!!!!! We are only 1/2 was through our contract period and they have spent tons of money that wasnt expected and the fuel price is throught the rood here so have to re-calculate things to see where we stand......

Will check back later as Im sure I will need a break in a couple hours!!!!

    Love

Help! I got a great picture of my son in OMAN and would like to share it with you great girls and I cannot do photos online at work Cry. I will email it to someone to put on for me Laughing. Just send me a pm with your email and I will get it sent to you.

On the plant issues, I got three lovely mixed planter arrangements last summer during my recovery from my surgery as well as after the death of my father in law. One planter has one plant still alive, one planter has 2 plants still alive, and the third planter is struggling to survive (about 1/3 of it dead). My mother in law got a planter identical to one of mine and it is thriving. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

    Thanks, Sheila

    Sheila,

try moving it to other locations...sometimes they get too much sun or not enough sun and that will make them croak, as well as too much or not enough water!!! Try getting some Miracle Grow, I use the liquid that you mix with your weekly water for my house plants and the plant stake type for my outdoor plants.

I cant post from work either but you are welcome to send it to my email and I will post it this afternoon when I get off work if you dont already have someone to do it for you.

    Hugs

Thanks jule for the hints on the plants. I am limited on the areas to put them as well as window availability. I have a large picture window that faces East but has large trees in the front yard and the South window in my living room has the AC unit in it. The south window in my kitchen is above the sink - no place for planters, the north windows are in the bedrooms with the beds underneath. the west windows are either the bathroom above the tub or the unheated closed in porch with trees outside there also. I live in a 4 room 800 sq foot house - very limited space. I have brought one to the office, that is the one that is about 1/3 dead, I was told that the florscent lighting was good for them but the Peace lilly's leaves are turning black on the edges - either from under watering or overwatering and I was told that peace lillies are the easiest thing to keep alive - I killed 2 of them in the other planters at home already.

About the picture, nobody else has seen my plea. pm me your email and you can put it on for me. thanks.

Im not sure who says that about the peace lillies as I have a green thumb and can baby most anything to grow but.................out of the last 3 of those Ive had only one has survived and the jury is still out on that.....it came in a valentines basket and so far has only wilted down once after I transplanted it and is currently looking ok....

My house is about 1600 sq ft, but the windows are arranged weird in it.....my african violets do beautiful in the laundry room windows which faces north....nothing grows to the south for some reason(oooopps I take that back there are some scraggly iris's that persist in coming up on that side).....the front of the house faces East, I have about 50 rose bushes planted as a hedge around my front yard....smells yummmy in the evenings when they are in bloom......the back of the house(west) is covered in Day lillies as I want to add more to the house back that way so have never really put in flower beds...

Obviously Im a plant lover :)......I enjoy lots of time outdoors in my flower beds and will try to grow just about anything.

I pm'd you my addy for the pic...

    Hugs

My grandmother could make anything grow. Her african violets were in a north window and she had a lot of them and they bloomed year round. She could even root roses that she got in arrangements. she lived in OH and had a rubber tree in the house that was over 6 ft tall.  I sure didn't inherit the green thumb from her.

I am trying to get some type of ground cover on the bank in front of the house to grow so it won't keep washing out. It is the east facing and has the big trees overhanging it . So far I have the phlox, monkey grass, and a few assorted bulbs growing there, hoping that they will continue to spread.

Thanks again for posting the picture of my son when you get home jule. I will see it tomorrow when I get to work. I hope my description of him doesn't dissapoint anyone.

Jule - it's a beagle and I wish it was mine! Trouble is, they are a nose on legs (more so than most dogs) and tend to wander after interesting smells!

Your Libby sounds so sweet - can't wait for you to bring her home - and post some pics here!

My train leaves soon! Have to rush.

    Jane,

I was pretty sure it was a beagle.....my kids had one when they were growing up and yes, he was forever wondering with his little sniffer in the air, on the ground, pushed up to something new, didnt matter that little noise of his was ALWAYS in motion!!!! Was a wonderful dog for the kids to grow up with, very even tempered...

I had intended to take my camera to get picks of Libby for you all but my nephew had borrowed it and not brought it home yet!!!!

Sheila-I cant post the pic from her but I can see it.....love it and no, I dont think anyone will be disappointed!!!...

I have been trying to kill the wild roses on the bank since I bought the house 18 yrs ago, and I think I am winning. 2 yrs ago the city came by one day while I was at work to make the ditch deeper and scraped most of the roses off the bank and I have been trying to fill in where it is bald. I have even put lilly of the valley and iris at the top of the bank but even those are not growing well. That area gets the morning sun but shade most of the day.

I don't know about introducing foreign plants, we have kudzu growing like crazy here in the south, introduced from Japan to stop erosion but it grows a mile a minute in the summer and takes over everything. I will keep going with my lytrope (monkey grass) and hope that it will spread like everyone says that it will.

Hi Sue!  Hi Sheila and Jule!  Don't feel badly about killing all your plants, ladies.  I LOVE gardening, but I kill about half of what I plant.  I do pretty well with bulbs, but everything else is pretty much hit or miss.  My poor lone daffodil in the back yard was bent over from the snow this morning.  Grrrrrr!!!  It's snowing sideways right now.  This weather is nuts!!  I was talking to the radiation therapist this morning about it.  She thinks it's all linked to global warming.
