Shirlann did I see you on TV last night? Was that your dh talking with the reporters too? I think it was Fox News at 10:00. Was that fire in your complex or something? Either it was you or you have a twin out there.
-
Uhhhh, yes, I looked like Billyhill, we were just running off for a breakfast jack and dang, here pops up this film crew. I was in a house dress, no bra, no make up. I never saw the clip, and I heard most of it was Walt, thank God!
You cutey, you caught that!
Hugs, Shirlann
-
I thought you looked just great. You weren't on there long enough for anyone to notice you didn't have any make-up on silly.
-
I know a good time when I see one...Is there room for me at the table on October 28th?
I live in the SoCal desert (Palm Springs area - La Quinta to be precise) and I would really like to join you!
It will have been 3 and a half weeks after my last tx,(Oct 3rd) and just prior to my rads beginning...nothing is certain, but there's a good chance I might be vertical, coherent and present! (Or at least one of the three...)
If there's no room, please sign me up for November?
-
Hi Kaye,
Absolutely, there is room for you, and we would love to have you. It is a great group of women, some of us in treatment, some of us just done with treatment, and a couple of longterm survivors. Please do come, and just let us know what info you need to find us. We don't know how familiar you are with the San Diego area.
Best,
Melia
-
Thanks Melia!
All I really need is the address, we have a gps in the car. I think the date is: October 28th, 11:30am at Chevy's in Del Mar. If I've got that part right I could make it, but if anyone has the address it would be really easy.
Looking forward to it!
-
Welcome Kaye. I second what Melia said. Please join us. Everyone is welcomed with open loving arms. The info is:2730 Via De La Valle
Del Mar, CA 92014
(858) 793-8893See you there.

Hi Brenda, I was horrified, thank God they showed mostly Walt, who, like most men, always look the same. Lucky guys.
I hope to have Jean with us this time. She is the lady from LA, and she had her surgery on Wednesday, if she can, she will come. Her son has Lymphoma, that poor family has really been hit.
Keep selling houses, sweetie, hugs, Shirl

Hi SD BC Buddies,
I made it back alive from LA!
I have lots of new owies but it was all a success!whooohooo!!!
I got one DIEP and one SIEA (even better, and, I believe, a little gift from God.) Here's the difference for those who care: http://www.microsurgeon.org/siea_flap.htm
Thank you for all of your prayers,
Lisa
-
Lisa, Welcome home! So glad it is over and you are back. We all prayed and worried ... glad you got the surgery you wanted. Now just rest and get strong again.

I'm in Encintias too!! I'm new to this board. Are y'all talking about getting together? Would anyone like to get together for lunch at the Lumberyard in downtown Encinitas? There's a really cute courtyard there with a nice fountain and a french bakery AND a Starbucks! ...I'm a BC survivor of 2 years. ~Lori
-
Oh darn, sorry I just read about the get together in Del Mar. I would definately love to come but I'll be on a cruise with 20 girls until the 29th. I would love to catch the next meeting! ~Lori
-
Hi, Lisa:
So glad you're ok! Congratulations.
Great that more people are interested in meeting up with the group.
Friday night I had to go to the ER, then have emergency surgery. I developed a hemotoma on one side from the mastec. (filled up with blood in chest, side, and back) , which was extremely painful and sent my blood pressure plummeting. I am home today. Feel like I've been hit by a bus. Taking pain killers which make me feel like someone else.
-
Good grief, Lisa! I'm sorry to hear about the hematoma! The last thing you needed was more surgery. Hang in there--positive vibes being sent your way.
-
Oh Lisa, I am sorry that you had to have more surgery! Rest up now and hopefully your recovery will be smooth.
Melia
-
So sorry Lisa you had to have more surgery..please rest up and take it easy...
Lori..it will be nice to meet you when you can join us...
-
Thank you Lisa I look forward to meeting all of you one day!
Lisa, I'm sorry about your surgery, I had a huge hematoma as well 2 years BEFORE my BC when she removed a BENIGN tumor from my OPPOSITE breast. I WATCHED it fill with blood and started to panic. She said....oh it will just absorb....six months LATER she had to DRAIN it and filled a quart container. She kept saying..."don't look, don't look" as she was pulling all the blood out with a syringe. Instantly I was back to normal. Glad you got it taken care of right away! Hang in there you will get better quick!
~Lori

So Lori,
Tell about the cruise with 20 girls. Sounds fun!
-
Hey Lisa,
Yes it's a friend's 50th birthday and it's a cruise out of San Diego to Cabo and back on Carnival's Elation. Only 4 days so everyone can swing it! We had a party on Sunday for everyone to get to know each other, seems like a really nice group of girls. It's everyone's FIRST CRUISE! Wanna join us? It's not too late! I know you just had surgery, how are you feeling this morning? If you can't make it I'll let you know how it is and maybe everyone on the board can get together to go on another one! ~Lori
-
Hi everyone. I just got off the phone with LisaSDCA. She sounded good. I can so relate to how she feels right now. She has a friend arriving later today to help out this week. Love ya Lisa. Rest girl. I was living off of Vicadon and Ambien after my tram.
Starfish-So sorry to hear you had to go back for more surgery. My son had a huge hematoma on the roof of his mouth after a tooth was surgercially removed. He was in so much pain. Stay on the meds till it doesn't hurt anymore girl.
Lori-Welcome to the SD group. We would love to meet you. It sounds like I am taking the Elation out to see right after you. We leave on that ship on Nov 3. I can't wait. We have never cruised before. We are taking our 2 boys and going with another family. Ours is a 5 day one. Hope you have fun.
SoCal-loved that pic of you grandbaby over in the Hamptons. What an angel.
-
Brenda - Thank you for your warm welcome. Wow how funny you're taking the same cruise! and my OTHER friends are taking the same one this Friday!! ...so at least we'll get to ask lots of questions and I'll let YOU know how it went when WE go! Have a great time! P.S. where in San Diego are you? ~Lori
-
Lori-I am in Vista.
-
Hello all... This is Sylvia from Shadowridge, Vista,Ca. Have been on this site since March, 2006 when my daughter and I were both diagnosed with Breast Cancer within 2 weeks of each other. At that time there was one person who stepped out and extended her hand to me and has helped me along this journey--Liz Osborne from Bonita...and I thank her for allaying my fears and so many more things than I can possibly say...and maybe she can coach me thru getting a picture on this site as I am a little iliterate when it comes to this stuff! We finally met on Sept 22,2007 when I joined a great bunch of girls for lunch in Old Town and I hope to see them all again real soon...it is a GOOD thing to share....
-
Hi Sylvia. It was great to meet you at our luncheon. Next time we will have to sit closer and talk. Our table is growing. How wonderful that we have so many SD ladies in our group now. What is so amazing is that we all met on this web site. I will be in your neck of the woods on Weds morning. I am showing 2 houses there.
-
WOW.... yes there is alot for sale right now...great for people with some $$$$$$! Yes we will have to talk ---I'm working like crazy till I fly out on Thursday night to Denver--going to see my namesake--my Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Winston and will be back on Monday night. I'm disappointed because I do not think I will be able to meet for lunch on 10/28--our daughters are taking us to see Jersey Boys for my husband and my B-days...so next month for sure...take care...Sylvia
-
Sylvia and Brenda - My mom and Grandma live in Shadowridge right across from RBV in Portico I think it's called.
Everyone - I look forward to meeting everyone sometime soon! How many of you went to the last luncheon? Sounds fun.
Did any of you have the TAC chemo? that sent me for a LOOP! Rads was NOTHING campared to that crap!! ...awful....glad I got my hair back though...I was starting to think maybe it WOULDN'T come back. I'm on Arimidex and having a HARD TIME with my bone density...rapid bone loss and I CAN'T take Actonel or Boniva I had HORRIBLE side effects from it. I'm sunk and I'm 48 y/o.
~Lori
-
Hi Sylvia...it was really nice to finally meet you also..
It is too bad you can't join us again at the next lunch, but having your kids take you out is priceless!!
Have a good trip....
We will work on the photos later
Lori, I took the arimidex for four years and also had bone density problems..I started fosamax right after it was noticed and it maintained it....
-
Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since I read this thread - I'm looking forward to meeting some newbies this month and catching up with the rest of you.
I had a reprieve from chemo this week because I keep filling up with fluid since having the drains removed. I've been aspirated twice and go back this Friday to see if the fluid is slowing down or if I need to have a drain reinserted. That would be a bummer, especially since we're leaving for Florida on the 10th - I do not want to travel with a drain.
So now I'm scheduled to start chemo again on the 17th, but like everything else on this journey, it's subject to change - daily or so it seems.
My mom's house closed escrow - it's rather bittersweet - it's sad to think we'll not be having any more holidays together with my mom as a family at the house, but glad to be wrapping things up with the estate and to have the sale go so smoothly.
Love to all and can't wait to see you all in a few weeks,
Lisa
-
Oh, Lisa(3boys)..so sorry about the fluid problems..how are you feeling otherwise? You have certainly been through entirely too much. You are a strong lady!! Guess we mothers of three boys have to be!!!
How long do you plan to be gone?
Starfish..how are you doing?
I saw LisaSDCA on Monday, yes she is home and recovering..
Hugs all around...SoCal
