I will check to see if we can get a reservation tomorrow in the a.m.. I will let you all know.

Poor Jan - coming to San Diego when we are forecast to have unseasonably cool, windy weather for much of her stay - maybe even some rain! Though I personally don't think that will reach the coast - it never rains here until Hallowe'en week! We'll just have to show her our own inner sunshine and irrepressible warmth.

We have a reservation for 10 people at 11:30 a.m., at Acapulco in Old Town, on Saturday the 22nd. It is under Brenda. I don't think we will have 10 but just in case.
Jan should have just arrived in San Diego if her flight was on time. It is gorgeous out Lisa. Even if it rains Friday, which I highly doubt, she will still get to see our lovely weather.
Dh ended up having to work after all but I got a sitter. I would not miss this for anything. I miss you guys. I am thinking I might take the 15 this time. Maybe there will be less traffic.
-
Opps hit the submit twice.
-
Thanks for taking care of that, Brenda. See you all on Sat. I am really looking forward to it!

Thanks Brenda..don't forget your coupons from Sundays paper!!!
Hasta la vista

LisaSDCA-I just heard some blip of a commerical saying we could be headed for the worst rain storm in San Diego's September history. Guess I better watch the news tonight. Although reports like that usually mean it rains in LA and misses us.
SoCal-I did not get the coupon. Are they for individual use or can the group use them. I am sure the server will love us if we ask for separate checks and everyone has a coupon too. LOL.
Starfish-Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I pray it goes well for you.

Hi, Ladies:
Guess what? I got a ride to and from the lunch. My boyfriend was going to be in training in Alaska, but he FINALLY got out of it. He just got in town today. So he will be with me thru surgery and everything. Yeah!!!!
See you Saturday!
Starfish

Yippee! We have waited to meet Starfish! What fun! See you all then.
Hugs, Shirlann -
Starfish/Lisa - I am so glad he was able to be here with you! What a huge difference some loving support makes. Hope you are feeling better by the hour.
Brenda - I'm still counting on nice weather for tomorrow!
Let it rain late tonight, but by 11:30 the sunshine will be beaming down. San Diego is always so awesome after a storm moves through (if it gets here). The rain was supposed to have started today and it's been glorious!SoCal - I didn't get the coupon either, sorry. Could'a sure used it. Maybe yours will stretch around the table.
See you all soon!
Lisa
-
I have a coupon too

I'm home now, and feeling not terrible over all. I expect to see you all tomorrow.
-
Starfish-glad to hear you are feeling O.K.
Now they are saying we may have some little showers here or there but that most of the storm will stay north of us. As usual.
See you all tomorrow.

OK here we all are today...at Acapulco Restaurant

You ladies all look beautiful! I'm sorry I couldn't make it--hoping to meet everyone soon.
-
I think this was our largest gathering ever! Jan came from the furthest away and SDStarfish/Lisa came under the most challenging circumstances - big thanks to them both for making the extra effort to be with our group. Our other new member, Sylvia, fit right in effortlessly! I think we just keep getting better!
Heads up, folks - we made October's date a Sunday for those who had requested it. At Chevy's in Del Mar, 11:30 on Oct. 28th. Mark the spot in your calendars now!
Again, SoCal, I appreciate your being our official picture-person and getting the evidence posted so promptly each time. You're the best!

Hi ladies, I just happened to see this thread as I was skimming the main board. Was so nice to meet y'all and I'm amazed that Starfish was able to even be there after reading this thread. LisaSDCA, hope all goes well with your surgery, you have a fantastic support group here locally. The weather was actually pretty nice. I did get cold while we waited and chatted under a tree on base near our son's barracks. The hoodie marine sweatshirt came in handy for those times. Out in the sun I was fine without it. I didn't mind the rain since it gave our son a couple of extra days before he has to do the 3 mile run again. And rain clears the air of pollens and makes my allergies calm down some.
Thank you all for making me feel welcomed, I enjoyed the conversation and the great meal! -
WOW, our Liz is a whiz!!!
Thanks, sweetie, for always remembering your camera and being so smart and loving to post the pix!
We are blessed with you, Hugs, Shirl -
What fun. I just love getting together with all of you. Can't wait for October. Hoping you can join us nash. Starfish you must rest now girl. Jan so glad you enjoyed yourself.
-
You all look so great! I'm glad you had a nice time. I had heard about this, but was unable to make it due to kids' sports etc... Hope I can meet you the next time.

Hi ladies,
It was so good to see all of you, though I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to visit with those of you at the other end of the table. I was also bummed to have to run so early, but it was fun to watch my sons pop warner football game - fyi - they lost 33 to 8.
Starfish - I can't believe you were there so soon after surgery. I'm glad you made it as it was nice to meet you. Take care of yourself and really take it easy for a week or so. I know it's hard - you want to get back to your routines as soon as possible, but you really do need some time to heal.
LisaSDCA - best of luck to you with your surgery. I'll be thinking of you this week.
Liz - thank you for posting the picture. You're good!
Well, it was a long day, and I'm going to turn in.
Take care and love to all,
Lisa

Nash and Eve..hope you can join us for the next lunch
LisaSD...will see you soon..we sure hope all goes well and your sister will let us know..
Keep us in the loop about your son, Wild/Jan..hope your flight home went well.
I am glad we tiptoed thru the raindrops!!
-
Drat! My 4th chemo round is the Thursday before the Oct. lunch, which means that Sunday is an official "sitting in my recliner and drooling day". Ugh. November maybe?
-
Hi Nash you are welcome ANYTIME you can come, just keep looking at this site, and whenever you can make it, we will be thrilled. So nice to see so many gals, we are blessed. Hugs, Shirlann
-
Oh nash not again. We so look forward to meeting you. We extended out date to the end of Oct so LisaSDCA would have time to heal from her surgery. I really hope you can come in November.
-
Hey Ladies:
I had such a great time on Saturday. So glad I could finally make it, and it was good to get out. One more chance to wear the wig! (Eve and Stephanie, that's me in the green shirt. The picture nicely cuts off my newly flat chest).
I am doing well overall, but I am tired easily and everything hurts. Today my surgeon said she sees no reason for radiation. Hooray!!!!
Oh Stephanie (nash), I am so bummed that you will be having your bad chemo weekend for the October lunch.
How about you, Eve? Can you make it?
Lisa SDCA, I'll be thinking of you during your surgery on Wed. I just started reading a new book: "I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy"

Thanks for the help about the school, Liz!
-
Hey Girls:
Question for some of you who are farther along re: BC experience than I am. When are you considered 'cancer-free' or 'in remission', and what is the difference? In other words, if I'm done my chemo and surgeries - and I don't need radiation - who, if anyone, tells me I'm clear?
I will post this on another board, too. Not sure who to ask!
Thanks.
-
Hi Lisa...good to hear from you and also that you can forgo the radiation. I think in here we tend to say
"No Evidence of Disease"
and you see the ladies saying they are dancing with "NED"
Noone can really say you are completely "cancer free" I don't think...
This is the dilemma we ALL face...
-
Hi Lisa,
Glad you don't need radiation. If you are done with treatment, except your recon, I think you should consider yourself clear .... I haven't worried much about the terminology, I just figure it's over. Now I just have to try to live without fear ... which is hard, but I am going to just remind myself that we never know each morning what the day holds.
It was great to meet you. I hope you are resting and being kind to yourself.
Melia
-
Lisa,
I am with Melia and SoCal. Your done with treatment your done. Just look at everyday like you are cancer free and stay that way. I am so happy you don't need rads. I didn't have them but I hear they are draining.
Has anyone heard from LisaSDCA or her family yet. Wasn't her surgery today? I pray she is doing well. I sent her an email this week-end and told her to keep that morphine pump in her had at all times.
-
Starfish, the gals are so correct. You are now Cancer free! And what I say to people still, after all this time is: "So far, so good". That stops the people who are just being polite and if people really want more info, they can ask.
It is a quick and simple response.
So, you are now officially "Dancing with NED". (No Evidence of Disease).
It was so good to see you, and I couldn't believe you made that luncheon. You are one tough, strong woman!
Hugs, Shirlann
