Hi San Diego ladies. I just found out my ooph is scheduled for Thursday the 21st. Looks like it will be in the outpatient facility at Scripps Encinitas. They did not have a hospital time available until the end of July.
Anyway I guess we shall see how I am feeling on Saturday before I can say for sure if I will be there. I am so bummed. I want to see you all so bad. I have been told by some that I will be fine in 2 days. Others say I may have bad stomach cramping and gas for 3 or 4 days. I really don't know what to expect.
My new gyn knows my ps well and is discussing the options for going through my mesh. Hoping for lapo especially if I am not in the hospital. I will keep you posted. -
Hi gals I have a tentative appointment at the free spa treatment for the 31st of July. Any other gals who can come that day, go for it.
They want my onc to send a diagnostic report, but I haven't seen him for 5 years. Sighhh, I have it myself but I don't know if they will accept that.
I keep calling all these folks, but get only voice mail.
Hugs, Shirlann -
Gosh, Shirlann - I am so surprised. I must have just sounded really sick on the phone, because they never asked for any documentation from me. And then I told them I was bringing a friend who had been there before (yes, 3boys4me I did go with a friend, a 20+yr. survivor, but all of the services are individual and you get real friendly with other women sitting around in your robe over wine and cheese) and they didn't ask much about her other than her name. They called a couple of weeks ahead to confirm and other than that I just showed up. Maybe having no hair was proof enough that I'm a real BC patient. I certainly would think a copy of your report should suffice!
Brenda - oh, hon! I didn't realize your ooph was coming up so soon! I'll send up prayers that everything goes smoothly on Wednesday - and laproscopically!
I am definitely planning on Bennigan's on Saturday and hope to see all of you there! Melia and I will be the ones in matching swollen ankles.
Lisa -
I will be there too!! See you then..how about the first person there get a table..hmmmm, for how many??
-
Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it this month. My kids leave for a week of camp Sunday morning so we are planning a family outing on Saturday. Have a great time. Hopefully I can make the next one. Sheri
-
Hi, Sheri:
Are your kids going to Camp Kesem? My 8 year old daughter will be there too!
Lisa -
Hi, Ladies:
My name is Lisa. I have an 8 year old daughter. I have Stage I-II breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in May. I start Chemo (TC) on Monday, and got my port today (OUCH). Mastec. after chemo, then recon. Glad I found this site! -
I will be there too. I am thinking maybe only 4-5 this time? Haven't heard from quite everyone yet though ...
Am looking forward to it. Brenda, I hope you feel well enough to come, but that's cutting it close. We will all be thinking of you on Thursday.
Melia -
Yes, both my girls are going...9yrs & 12yrs. We'll be up at UCSD Sunday morning. Sheri
-
Hi, Sheri: I will be there at UCSD on Sunday, too.
It sounds like a really nice experience for the kids. My daughter's name is Gabriella. Maybe they will get to hang out together at times.
Lisa -
O.K., it feels like I got kicked the gut by a horse but I still have to eat lunch right? I still have my babysitter lined up so I am going to make a big effort to be there. I would feel so cheated if I did not get to see you ladies this month.
-
Oh, Brenda! I am SO glad!
Well, I'm sorry for your poor belly, but I'm thrilled that you will be able to come despite it. You are one strong woman!
Lisa -
Brenda,
That's great; we all would love to see you. I wish I could offer you a ride but am going somewhere afterwards. Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow. And it's one more thing to cross off your list of things to do to get well.
Melia -
Hi, Shirlann:
I'm new to this site. Can you tell me more about the spa thing on the 31st? Thanks.
Lisa -
So good to see everyone today...
-
Liz, thank you for your tactful cropping of a "difficult" picture.
I loved being with you all again today. Glad that our birthday girl, Shirlann was able to include us in her celebratory day. Happy to have Lisa#3 join us for the first time. I don't know what I'd do without each and every one of my San Diego BC.org sisters. Already looking forward to July 21st and our next gathering.
Thank you all for being there - in both senses of "being there" for me.
Lisa -
That waiter didn't have a good feel for the subject, Lisa..hahaha..who thought he should get our feet in plus everything else!!!
-
Looks like you all had fun! May I join you for July 21st?
(That is, if I'm not laid out by chemo!) -
Would love to have you join us Lisa...
-
We can never have enough Lisa's.
-
Yeah, it was always like that with 'Lisa's' when I was in grade school, too
Staring my chemo tomorrow, ladies. Please think good thoughts for me. Also, my daughter left today for a sleep-away camp, which is a new experience. I like the quiet, and glad she will miss my being sick. But still wierd. -
Holding your hand for tomorrow, Lisa(star)
-
My thoughts will be with you tomorrow, Lisa Star. It won't be as bad as you are thinking. Once you get thru the first one, you have a frame of reference and it isn't as scary. It is hard to walk thru that door the first time, no doubt about it, but you just need to take all your meds pro-actively, and remember that you are doing what you need to do for yourself and your daughter ...
Melia -
sdstarfish--Hope today was O.K. for you. Just rest, rest, rest and drink tons of water. Sending you hugs.
-
Thank you all so much. It wasn't too bad. I took a girlfriend and we watched a comedy. Then I fell asleep from all the added benedryl, I guess. The rest of the day I was useless. Got my wind back at 7:30 pm. Glad it's over, at least for today...
-
Is anyone definitely going to the breast reconstruction thing at Stanley Kimmel this Thursday evening (Young Survivor Coalition event)? I will be there, and it would be nice to say "hi" to some of you.
-
Thanks Lisa for the great pix, and for the birthday fun as well. It is always so good to see all the dear faces.
Hugs, Shirlann -
Ahemmm, where are we going on the 21st? Sheesh, dumb me.]
Hugs, Shirlann -
I think we decided on Calif. Pizza Kitchen in the UC area.
Or was it Sammies? Anyway - a pizza-type place in La Jolla/Golden Triangle.
I think more than one of us was not paying close attention.
Lisa -
I am *planning* to be there, but that will be day 6 of 2nd round of TC. So when you choose a definite location, can you let me know? Thanks!
