Well, dang it, June 23rd that is my 72nd birthday and my husband's 74th. (Our birthdays are on the same day) Shoot!!! I don't want to miss 2 of our luncheons in a row!
ARRRGHHHH I love all you guys,
Hugs, Shirlann -
Hi All,
Do we have an alternate date? What about the Sat before? Liz, did you have something? Or the 24th? I am pretty flexible ...
Melia -
I can do the weekend of 16th-17th and either day should be okay. I'm also flexible as to whether we eat out or potluck. I certainly don't want Shirley to have to miss it again! Sounds like it may be easier for Sheri, too.
The last weekend would not be as good for me, and likely impossible.
Lisa -
June 24 is my little guy's 6th b-day. Sorry can't miss that. June 17th is Fathers Day. Sorry can't miss that. Won't you be out of town that week-end Liz?
-
OOPs, forgot about Father's Day. Guess I can't miss that either. Maybe the 23rd is the best we can do ...
Melia -
June 9 is okay for me. I can't on June 16th going to Rosarito with friends and family (they just bought a beach house and we'll check it out). June 23rd is okay by me, potluck at my house or eat-out at a restaurant. I'm flexible. And.........on June 30 I'll be returning from BARCELONA with friends (we're leaving June 25th for a week)!! To celebrate life, my end-of-treatments. A friend works for Continental Airlines and would arrange the trip for us. 5 girlsfriends are going! I can't wait.
Nice to meet all of you ladies. It was nice to "share" and learn from each other.
Take care,
Myra -
I will be gone from the 7th thru the 17th...
so the 23rd or the 30th are good for me... -
Maybe we should just stick with the 23rd? And Shirlann, you set the next date? I don't know; I can make any of them, so I am easy .... you ladies decide. As our group grows there will be times where we can't all be there. As much as I regret that, I really feel I need the support right now and hate to postpone too much ...
Melia -
Melia..that sounds good to me..Let's keep the 23rd of June and we can set another day in July...
How does Bennigans in Mission Valley sound?? -
Would Sat. June 16th work...it is Fathers Day weekend but Fathers Day is on Sunday??? Just a thought.
Sheri -
I think Bennigans on the 23rd sounds good.
-
Hey gals, I talked with my husband and since we have been together since we were 15 and 17, he told me to go with my gals and we will celebrate the next day, what a guy!
So lets leave it on the 23rd, what time?
Hugs, Shirlann -
Shirlann..glad you can make it too..we missed you last week...how about 11:30 again before the rush so we can get a table...
-
Yippee! Shirlann can come out to play. 11:30, Bennigans, June 23rd. Got it.

There is a Cancer Support Group at my church (Presbyterian) in Encinitas that usually meets the first Saturday of the Monday, 1:00 p.m. If anyone would like to know more, let me know.

Hi Ladies,
I am so sorry I missed the last lunch (again). I've got June 23rd marked on my calendar already. Glad you picked the 23rd as I couldn't make the 16th-17th. I am so gonna be there this time. I had just had my treatment on the 9th, then crashed for the weekend. I had so many things I wanted to do, but alas, it just wasn't in the stars for me.
We did end up having my mother's mother's day gathering that day, too. She's 78, has Parkinson's and is really struggling right now. Both my brothers and families were there, so we had an opportunity to discuss the situation. She lives at home and has 24 hour caregivers, but with her health declining, we (I) decided to call in hospice. They were there the next day (what a God-send) so I spent mother's day morning meeting with the hospice intake nurse. But now that things are in place, I feel good about our decision.
Then I slept the rest of the weekend ;-) My family did treat me to Papa Chitos (fast food mexican) for dinner for mother's day - my choice! And the whole family was happy ;-)
Look forward to meeting you all next month.
Hugs to all,
Lisa #3 -
Hi Lisa # 3,
Glad you can come. See you all on the 23rd!
Melia -
I will see you all on the 23rd! 11:30am at Bennigan's.
Hugs, Shirlann -
YAY! I'm so glad it looks like most of us should be able to make it to this one. I'll be there and it will be just four days before {drumroll} my last chemo treatment!!!
Lisa#3 - I'm glad you got things settled with your mom and then had a good rest. I look forward to meeting you this next month. Any new SD-area people are of course invited and encouraged to join us.
I agree with you , Melia - this group is just too important to me to postpone a gathering too long. Heck, I'll probably schedule my bilat. mastectomies around our meeting in August.

Hi Sunny San Diego Cancer Sisters,
Just got back from Indian Wells - spent the long weekend at the Marriott with my husband, 10 yo son and his friend while my two older boys were off backpacking. It was blissful weekend with the sun, pool and a few spa treatments. But it's back to reality this week as I have my last chemo (for now). Looking forward to the get together and the opportunity to meet all of you.
Lisa #3 -
I wanna go to a spa. So glad you could enjoy yourself before your last treatment (for now). I am really looking forward to meeting you Lisa#3. I can't wait to see everyone again.

Speaking of spas. . .
Did you all know about SK Sanctuary? It's a very expensive spa in La Jolla that closes down one evening a month to allow a private spa night for BC patients and survivors. I went with my friend (who is a 20+ yr. survivor) this past Tues. There's a waiting list, but you can attend once a year forever! They provide robe and slippers, wine, snacks and two pampering treatments for free! Well, I did give small tips.
http://www.sk-sanctuary.com
Or call 858.459.2400 and ask them about their breast cancer night - get on the list! Maybe we could all try and coordinate to do a month together next year. There were 20+ women there this week.
See y'all soon!
Lisa -
I remember you all talking about that spa thing at lunch. La Jolla is kind of hard to get to. I wonder if I called spas in this area I could find one that has this kind of service to bc people.
-
I did the SK spa too Lisa..I absolutely loved it..such a nice thing for them to do!!!
Brenda..I haven't heard of any others that have the same thing.. -
Melia, I sent you an email a while back, but can't find it now, and can't find any reply from you. At the last minute, I decided to go to the Cancer Support Group at NCPC tomorrow, June 2, 2007, which starts at 1:00. Let me know if you see this email, and if you plan to attend.
-
Shoot, can't go. I am going up to Julian for the day. Please let me know when the next one is ... enjoy!
-
Hi gang, are we still on for the 23rd at Bennigans, 11:30am? I am ready! I also called the spa and they will call me back for a free day. What a great idea!
Hugs, Shirlann -
I will be there. So glad you can come, Shirlann. Missed you last time.
Melia -
Melia, came over here to check out your pic. You look great! Love your wig. That is a wig, right? Looks great on you! Hang in there! I know the taxol is getting to you. Not too much longer. Stay warm....what happened to sunny, warm SoCal?
-
Hi Lisa -
Good to know. I just pulled up their website and they have bc events on 6/26, 7/31, 8/28, 9/25, 10/30 and 11/20. It says to call 858-459-3334 to make an appointments for these events. Did you go alone or bring a friend?
