Hello every each of you Michigan Ladies with monster in our chest!!!
I joint this board few months ago and lucky now to meet Michigan ladies team.
Hi! My name is Rozalia. I am living in Oak Park. I have one or two (?) stage with 2 masses in my left breast. Last 16 weeks I was treated with arimidex and one of my tumors shrink about haft but another looks the same. I scheduled for surgery on May 24 in Ford hospital, but still thinking Do I need it or not? I dont afraid do surgery or try to cure cancer without. I just dont know how to put things together and make right decision.
It was very nice to find the group so close. I dont think I can joint to any real activity now because my plans to surgery, but will glad to get together as soon as I can. Just tell when and where.
Rozalia -
Welcome Rozalie. Well, surgery will get that monster out of your chest! You are at the overwhelming stage but set up a plan with the help of your oncologist and take baby steps. You will get through this.
Keep checking the Michigan topic and when you feel up to it, come and join us for one of our many get-togethers. This is an awesome group of women and men!

I don't know if you noticed that Melissa and Tami posted a sticky post about the Discussion Boards changing to new software in the next few weeks. One comments says that the "content will not be brought over from the current system."
I'll put more of the quote below. I think that means that we may lose all our posts, including this one! If that happens, please send me a private message for my email address if you do not already have it. I don't want to lose track of everyone! I hope I misunderstood the post. What do you think?Quote:
...Fortunately, you will NOT have to re-register, and the content of the forums and threads will be essentially unchanged. We will have more information in the coming weeks about what will happen with Private Messages, Buddy Lists, Favorites, etc. It is likely that this content will NOT be brought over from the current system. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but we have to make the most of the limited budget we have, and importing existing content can get very expensive. -
Ok - I'd like to get something for our Team that stands out as a group for the Komen Race. So, tell me - would you wear one of these?

Oops - sorry, for some reason you cannot save the picture or hotlink to it.
here is the website:
http://www.candydirect.com/headwear/BUTTERFLY-BOPPERS.html
I remember last year that Shel said definately nothing funny on the head since she was bald. Survivors get hats and this still could be put over the hat. I think they are cute and will get them for anyone on the team who wants one. I'll pop for them since Mary found a good website, they are reasonable.
Shel - where are you this year? 3Bears, Candi, Judy, Tonya, Tina - you joining us? Lauri, you up to it? Remember you can take the trolley.

Nancy
Tonya - No wonder I didn't hear from you... I called you TAMMY AGAIN! I'm so sorry! Where are ya? Miss you.xxxooo -
Nancy, Too cute I would like a pink one if we have a choice on color if not that's ok. I would order one for hubby but don't think he would wear one better just order one for me.
I would be willing to help pay for mine just let me know what I owe.
Thanks
Wing Girl -
We probably should do something to make ourselves stand out...my niece and nephew will love this. Do we want to make a banner to?
-
Chris I'm making a sign with the Team logo on it and decorated with butterflies if someone wants to make a banner that'd be great too there should be plenty of people to take turns holding/carrying them.
My granddaughters are going to wear butterfly wings too.......
I think we'll definately get noticed this year -
I popped for the head boppers but if we need more than two dozen, let me know. I'm guessing we won't be able to convince the guys to wear them!
Sure Winggirl - you can have a pink one!
Can't wait to see the butterfly wings Mary. -
Wing-girl suggested I ask if you'll let a Buckeye from Columbus join your portion of the parade???? I'm newly dx: DCIS, partial mast on 3/23, and have now had the first 8 rads treatments, with the rest unfolding daily.
Our Columbus walk was last weekend and we were in NY to celebrate my youngest dau's graduation from college..... so couldn't participate here. I am very eager to meet others who've been down this road -- and it sounds like your team is highly energized and enthusiastic.
I'm hoping that I can get hubby to come along and drive me up.... he may not be available, so I'll have to have a plan B ready as well (for driver.)
So I want a team t-shirt, butterfly boppers and whatever else let's me into the fun.
thanks for your open arms,
Debbie -
Kats - Mary, New Picture!!!?? I'm glad your name is easy to remember and I have your email!
Debbie - Welcome! Of course we welcome everyone who wants to join us. Jon is from your neck of the woods and came to our get-togethers. You can ask her, we are a fun bunch if I don't say so myself.
Ok, we don't have specific team t-shirts this year so the head boppers and sign will make us stand out.
But, I just got a note that the boppers are out of stock!Quote:
Please be advised that the butterfly boppers you ordered are out of stock. There is no specific date as to when they will be available again; therefore we have deducted this item from your order.
I'll look around for an alternative place. In the meantime, just let me know how many to get!
Debbie - do you know how to sign up? Follow this link and be sure to select "Wings of Hope". This is the last week for anyone to join the team.

Nancy -
Hi Debbie,
These Michigan ladies are great, you couldn't ask for a nicer group of ladies. I'm from Illinois and this will be my second year doing the Detroit Komen Race For The Cure with them.
So please join, it's going to be a blast.
Mary -
Nancy,
The new avatar is just temporary. I was showing one of the Illinois ladies what a resized picture for an avatar looks like using photobucket. As soon as I know she's read my post, I'll be going back to my waving kitty.
I just can't be kats with a dog avatar...just feels wrong LOL
My dog 'Chuck' is handsome though isn't he?
Mary -
Nancy-I hope you can find another source for your boppers. Great job on the recruitment all over these boards! I am gonna bump them.
Debbie-Please do join us...I have been working in Columbus area alot lately...I feel like it is my second home.
I have also been trying to get Barb and another survivior to join our team.
-
Greetings to my northern new buddies.... I have just gone on-line and registered as a member of the Wings of Hope team. I'm not a cyber genius, but I think that I was successful in making the proper number of clicks -- and that I am now officially on board.
Did I read that you are having a pre-race get together?? When and where is that going to take place? I'd love to have an opportunity to meet the team.
d. -
Great job Debbie. It's official - we have 42 members on our Team! I will pick up t-shirts on June 2nd and if anyone wants to meet after that date, I can distribute some shirts. Otherwise, I'll be at the race bright and early.
Mary - kats, has been kind enough to make some head boppers. They are even cuter than the one's I tried to order. So, if you could let her know if you would like one and if you have an aversion to pink, it would help her out! Should we assume the guys won't want to wear them?
Nancy -
I just want to be sure that everyone knows that there is a pre-race expo the day before the race on June 15th.
http://www.karmanos.org/detroitraceforthecure/expo.asp
Chris and I went last year to get the pictures of the 'This Crazy Jacket' in the survivor room. I'm not sure I will go this year unless someone else wants to and would like their t-shirt that day. The item that sounds interesting to me is the last one."...pink up your hair for race day...." hmmmm, should I do it? I don't know about pink spray stuff though, could be a carcinogen!
LuckyAnna will not be able to join us for the race due to health problems. Let's wish her the best to get through this. -
Hi girls!
It is getting soooo close to the walk! Can't wait! Nancy, thanks for all of your work to make this WONDERFUL team! I'd like to meet before the race and take some t-shirts off of your hands! Anyone out there available for a quick lunch? I didn't go to the expo last year, but now that I know more of you, let me know if anyone is going!
Hugs,
Denise -
My parents are very close to joining...I should know by this weekend. Also...what about 3 bears...she had such a large group of supporters...Nancy...do you have her email address? Any other ladies that haven't joined yet that we can pesonally email? Sometimes, time just gets by so quickly. Can't wait for the race!!!
-
I haven't been able to get in touch with Michelle - 3Bears. She posted not too long ago so I was hoping she would join.
We really have Kats to thank for all the work she is doing with the sign and boppers and all the behind the scene details. She is putting a lot of thought and time into the design of these things. Thanks Kats!!
My boss is planning on joining our team. I thought a few other friends were going to join but I keep nudging and they keep dawdling...(is that a word?) We have 16 survivors and 42 members right now! Can you believe this? This will be a blast. -
Hi, guys. I'm back from the unknown regions. This has been a REELY hard couple of weeks, as you might imagine. I'm coping pretty well, actually. It's just that, even as sick as my husband was, we didn't expect him to die so suddenly.
The bad news is that the only possible weekend for the memorial service here in Michigan is June 16. And that's the day of the race. So, I guess I will have to be there in spirit. If I don't do the service that day, it will be August before everybody will be back in town again, and I don't want to wait that long. So, my apologies. Next year, I promise. -
Dear Kay - it is good to see you back online. I cannot even begin to imagine what you have been going through. When you hubby was so ill, it brought me back to my hubby's cancer diagnosis the same year as mine. That year was hell and harder to see him go through treatment than myself. I guess I thought your hubby would get through it. It was such a shock to everyone.
Please know that we will have you with us in spirit at the race. Take care of yourself and let us know if we can help you in any way.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Kay...very good to see you back here. We totally understand about DHs memorial service...but we will sure miss you. There will be other RFTs.
Thanks Kats for all of your hard work. We appreciate you!!!
What to do afterwards...should we try to reserve room at Hockey Town? -
Hi Kay,
Sorry you won't be able to be at the race but we certainly understand.... Hope you are taking care of yourself.
Mary -
Chris------ Hockey Town might be the best option, it's close by and it is rather big.
How about posting a poll?
Mary -
Hi Michigan Gals -
I've been out of the loop for a few days, but I'm looking forward to the 16th. Hockey Town sounds good.
I probably just missed it, but what are the plans for us to get our t-shirts?
Anne -
Ok - I'll call Hockey Town and see if they can accomodate us. Do you know that Ford reserves it all morning? That is probably why we are able to get it since they clear out after the race and others probably think they have it all day. They have a breakfast for their walkers/employees before the race.
It is almost ideal because it is so close but if anyone else is familiar with the area and can suggest something, let us know. Did we scrap the picnic idea?
I'm open to meeting before the race to get t-shirts to you. It would have to be either late in the day on the 2nd, on the 3rd or with some other accomodations during the week if you live close enough to me, I'll get them to you. I will give my friends in Canton theirs' so I can meet somewhere around Ikea or something during the week? Send me a private message if you want my phone number or email address. I can't hear for diddly so email works best for me.
You will have to hear the story about some of us not being "phone talkers" if you missed it!
Nancy -
Hi!
This is my first posting to the board, kind of feeling my way thru the process. I did meet many of you at Lone Star a few months back...a great group! I'm all registered for June 16th (first timer)and since I've not read all the
messages, just wondering what the plans are for meeting for a get together if one is planned. I read about the headboppers being out of stock, but would like to be included if there's an alternative. Just received the race packet in the mail, wow, the t-shirts are huge....swimming in it. I'll keep in touch and wait to hear about the plans.
