Betrayal, I so feel your frustration. I'm trying for the third time to enter a post here and am getting application error as well. I hope I didn't say anything to invalidate anyone. I am just hating the idea of losing voices I love to hear from and those whose are so reasonable and keep me balanced. I do think it is possible ( they would not be allowed to say ) that the mods could be almost as disappointed we many of us. So, I only offer my hope that good fixes will turn up as soon as possible. I have been here since 2007 and have seen a lot of changes. This one seems to be the largest. I hope it will start very soon to move in better directions.

The Mods claim the new site has nothing to do with Amazon and never did, that they're "just putting a new skin" on the original site. Two questions, then:
1. Why, when I click on the "breastcancer.org" hotlink in the text of the paragraph urging our patience on the all-too-frequent "Our Site is Down" pages, does the url in the address bar taking me to the redirect page "access denied" (followed by a line of code) begin with "3s.amazonaws...?" It's no secret how many websites, especially e-commerce, are using Amazon Web Services (AWS, complete with the arrow logo)--as Amazon has been boasting in TV commercials for a couple of months now. How can they explain that url if Amazon isn't involved???
2. And more importantly--which NOBODY had answered--is WHY there even had to be a "new skin" put on the site? I suspect some millennial image consultant tried to tell BCO that the site looked cluttered and archaic...too Boomeresque and that BCO needed to look more sleek, modern and 21st century. It's no secret how many millennials & Gen-Zers resent the Silent Generation, Boomers and even older Gen-Xers because we refuse to step aside and hand the reins over to them. It drives them nuts that we still work and consider ourselves relevant and active beyond just playing golf & shuffleboard down in "The Villages." I get the intergenerational income and resource disparities resulting from increased life expectancy and medical advances--but that doesn't mean we should put ourselves out to pasture...or worse.

Good points, ChiSandy. I cannot scroll back to the previous page again and if I do I am told the site is down due to application error. If I made as many errors as this site has made in just the last week, I'd be fired. The site is butt ugly with the tiny print, large left margin and gray lettering on such a sharp white background it makes for eye strain. The only reason I am hanging in here is because I regard many posters as "family" and like reading their thoughts which gives me a new perspective at times.
Moderators: Please fix this mess and stop making excuses for a massive boondoggle in the name of progress. This change has been anything but progress with disruptions, disconnections and being told to be patient; patience may be a virtue but we have been virtuous for tooooooooooooo long. The load time is slowly getting better but still needs major tweaking.

ChiSandy, Breastcancer.org does use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to run our website, as most website have some components built or hosted by AWS. As pointed out by SerenityStat in the glitches thread companies and organizations using AWS retain ownership of the data.

And as you begin to treat yourself with more respect, other people begin to do the same, since we subconsciously "train" others how to treat us through messages we send through body language, tone of voice, and other subtle cues and behaviors. I wanted to respond more yesterday but mostly error messages prevented me from it. Today seems fine again and I am seeing vast improvement once more in not having to wait long for the connections.
Betrayal, Chevy, Sandy -- I do agree with all of you and anyone else with issues. I hope by the day things get better and better here and that some good changes can be made in the whiteness issues as well as so much un-used space. I presume some things will take time. I'm still thinking that the mods are not given a choice ( any more than we have been ) and are left to try and do their best to help iron out issues -- and believe you me, I think time may be the mother of all upgrades. I've seen upgrades since 2007 when I first got here and this one sure seems like the steepest. Here's hoping for all of us. As mentioned -- today things seem for me to be back to working all right as far as loading up fairly fast. Hope it contines.

Day 15 now. I read a piece on the way here ( didn't save it since I had some loading issues yesterday ) that mentioned Putin is well aware by now that he is not going to win his war now. So, it seems to me that he is delighting in hurting those he can ( he has bombed more hospitals then the maternity one we all see on t.v. ) in the civilian Ukraine world. Those who did not already flee Ukraine for whatever reason. Like his counterpoint, that he helped elect before, he has a dark soul. I also think -- just like the loon he will find himself tortured by mistakes, self inflicted. Seems likely he will end up just like his counterpoint here -- dethroned which he thoroughly has worked hard for and totally deserves.

The way it should be. Don't know for sure how many trucks made it all the way but it is what is deserved. Then again, I wonder if they felt they could give up income to do this -- they must be doing okay most of the time.
Our gas prices here are about $:4.13 per gallon. Where Kate works we are signed up for their program where we automatically get 6 cents per gallon off. When I first got my car in 2016 I could get half a tank of gas for about $8.00. Whole lot more now. Like near $35.00 or so. I do fill up at half a tank. Easier on the purse and I think better for my car.

2020 Census Undercounted U.S. Population by Nearly 19 Million

The 2020 census undercounted the country's population by 18.8 million people, the Census Bureau said on Thursday, acknowledging that the count had underrepresented Black, Latino and Indigenous residents.
At the same time, the census overcounted the number of white and Asian residents, the bureau said.
Robert L. Santos, the bureau's director, said that despite the omissions, the results were consistent with recent censuses.
"This is notable, given the unprecedented challenges of 2020," he said in a statement. "But the results also include some limitations — the 2020 census undercounted many of the same population groups we have historically undercounted, and it overcounted others."
The U.S. population grew to 323.2 million, the bureau said on Thursday, a 5 percent increase from 2010.
"We remain proud of the job we accomplished in the face of immense challenges," Mr. Santos said. "And we are ready to work with the stakeholders and the public to fully leverage this enormously valuable resource."
The 2020 census faced a series of challenges. The coronavirus pandemic shut down much of the count just as it was beginning in April 2020, forcing the bureau to extend its work by nearly two months. Later in the year, wildfires in the West and coastal hurricanes upended the bureau's work just as door-knockers were fanning out to survey millions of households that had not filled out their forms.
The Trump administration later moved up the deadline to finish the counting, raising concerns about an undercount. The problems led many experts, including some senior Census Bureau officials, to worry that the final count would be fatally flawed.
In September, a 59-page analysis of the 2020 census commissioned and reviewed by the American Statistical Association said the count appeared accurate enough for its overriding constitutional purpose: reallocating the 435 seats in the House of Representatives.
But the experts who drafted the report limited their findings to the overall national tally and counts in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Much more study would be needed, they said, to gauge the reliability of local population totals and characteristics such as race and ethnicity that are vital parts of every census. -

Despite Ukrainian President VOLODYMYR ZELENSKYY's open plea for the jets, "skeptics inside the Biden administration pushed back on the idea of green-lighting the transfer of Poland's MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, and President Joe Biden sided with those skeptics, three U.S. officials said.
"The list of objections is long, from the logistics of getting as many as 28 fighter planes over the border into Ukraine to the stickier issue of flying fighter jets from a NATO country into a war zone, which some officials thought would make the alliance more of a participant in the fight than it already is. The administration considers that overt support as more offensive than the anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles they're flowing into Ukraine from Poland and Romania.
"The transfer might have been possible if the deal was kept under wraps, but that became impossible after JOSEP BORRELL, the EU's foreign affairs and security policy chief, declared unequivocally to reporters on Feb. 27 that the bloc would provide Ukraine with fighter jets. The announcement came as a shock to many, U.S. and European officials said, including aides in Eastern European capitals who hoped to keep the transfer quiet.

Former Attorney General William Barr says he'd still vote for Trump in 2024
Former Attorney General William Barr said that despite his acrimonious split with former President Donald Trump, he would still vote for him in 2024 if Trump became the GOP nominee.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr has been called "lazy" and "cowardly" by former President Donald Trump, while Barr has described Trump as "off the rails" and called his push to discredit the 2020 election "a farce."
Yet despite the ugly back and forth between the two, Barr said on TODAY Monday that he would still vote for Trump in the 2024 presidential election if Trump becomes the Republican nominee.
"Because I believe that the greatest threat to the country is the progressive agenda being pushed by the Democratic Party, it's inconceivable to me that I wouldn't vote for the Republican nominee," Barr told Savannah Guthrie. "It's hard to project what the facts are going to turn out to be three years hence, but as of now, it's hard for me to conceive that I wouldn't vote for the Republican nominee."
However, Barr said he does not believe Trump is fit to the be the nominee in two years.
"Well, I certainly have made it clear. I don't think he should be our nominee and I'm going to support somebody else for the nominee," he said.
Barr details his turbulent 22-month tenure under Trump in a new book, "One Damn Thing After Another: Memoirs of an Attorney General," that comes out on Tuesday.
In a response to NBC News' questions about the memoir, Trump sent a three-page letter that called Bar "slow and lethargic, so lazy and cowardly," and said Barr "didn't want to stand up to the radical left Democrats because he thought the repercussions to him personally in the form of impeachment would be too severe. In other words, Bill Barr was the coward."
Barr called Trump's letter "par for the course."
"The president is a man who when he is told something he doesn't want to hear, he immediately throws a tantrum and attacks a person personally," Barr said. "I thought the letter was childish."
The rift with Trump comes after a tenure in which critics said Barr politicized the Justice Department and seemingly acted like Trump's personal lawyer instead of an independent figure. Barr denied that characterization in an interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt that aired on Sunday night.
"The narrative was I was a 'toady' to Trump and I would do Trump's bidding. And the media constantly went out with that story," Barr told Holt. "Well, I think no, because I tried to take every issue that came to me and decide it what I thought was the right thing."
Barr said that his break with Trump in December 2020 came when Trump became "enraged" after Barr informed him that there was no evidence that the 2020 election was fraudulent. Barr resigned in Dec. 14, the day the Electoral College formalized President Joe Biden's victory.
"There was no 'stealing of the election' fraud, which means that people who were not qualified to vote or didn't exist, their votes were counted, or that good votes were subtracted," Barr said. "The vote reflected the decision of the people."
Barr was asked why he wasn't more forthcoming in his resignation letter about how there was no evidence of widespread election fraud and that the president's actions to overturn the election were dangerous.
He said that by the day of his resignation, the election "was over, for all intents and purposes" because the states had certified the vote.
"The idea that something could be done later on Jan. 6 was nonsense," he said. "And the once the election was locked in on Dec. 14, I tendered my resignation. And I knew Trump was going to be leaving office."
Barr wrote in his book that in the final months of his administration "Trump cared only about one thing himself, country and principle took second place." He added that Trump has "no concern with ideology or political principle" and that his motive is "revenge."
"He was always hard to work with and resistant to advice, but you can usually keep things on track," Barr said. "But after the election, he went off the rails. He wouldn't listen to anybody except a little coterie of sycophants who were telling him what he wanted to hear."
Barr admitted to underestimating the lengths Trump would go to try to overturn the election results.
"I was surprised," he said. "I thought it was a farce because of there was no substance to it, there was no legal support for it."
He also said he believed Trump was responsible for the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but said he doesn't think the former president was legally culpable.
"I do think he was responsible in the broad sense of that word, in that it appears that part of the plan was to send this group up to the Hill," Barr said on Nightly News. "I think the whole idea was to intimidate Congress. And I think that that was wrong."
Barr also answered criticism that he should have spoken out about Trump while he was still attorney general and that his book is part of a tour to rehabilitate his image.
"People who know me know I don't really care what people think about me, and I think that's one of the reasons I was persuaded to take the attorney general job because I'm wasn't looking for anything," he said. "I don't have a future career. I'm retired. I felt I could just call them as I see him, and anyone who tries to satisfy and win the approval of others is going to be compromised very quickly."
Barr also faced criticism for clearing Trump of obstruction of justice following the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russia's attempts to disrupt the 2016 election. Barr released a four-page letter ahead of Mueller's report that Mueller said "did not fully capture the context, nature and substance of this Office's work and conclusions."
"It is a phony scandal," Barr said on TODAY about the Russia investigation. "People talking about the 'big lie' after the election forget that it was a big lie in the beginning of the Trump administration."

Divine, opportunist is a very good word for Barr. Trying to salvage reputation and make money at the same time. He too, must see so many of us as dumb enough to buy into his interpetation of things. He catered to all those on the right who play stupid or are stupid far too long and now sees all of us that way.
I'm not real sure his book will do all that well. I know I wouldn't even dream of bothering with anything he writes.

Why would you write a book disparaging the moron, talking about how ignorant he was politically and ideologically and still vote for him on 2024 if he is the candidate? Barr is a moron of the first order to even state in words the opposite of what he professes on his book. I would not buy a book about the former potus nor waste my time on it even if it was free. drumpf actually insinuated he was a "spanky" and yet he still supports him? Question is who is the bigger moron? I guess he would want to be the AG again? He should be disbarred for his inactions and some actions he did take that were most likely borderline unlawful.
I am also resorting to bold print because trying to read posts is torturous with this grayed, tiny print and moderators if you are listening this is a consistent complaint on multiple forums. Please pass this on to the less than ept creators of this mess. Do not censure me for speaking the truth. I am not posting as much and notice that many others have not posted in days not only on this forum but others as well. If this was an experiment to decrease membership, it worked. Glad my experiment using bold seemed to have worked a bit. Now to just remember to keep using it. Betrayal -- I could not agree more. The loon and Barr are moronic birds of a feather. Now and then I wonder -- have they ANY idea how easy they are to read by so many of us. I also agree with you that I think Barr could have crossed the line a time or two law-wise. Just not enough to maybe get himself too much notice for it. It still amazes me that his confirmation went fairly well. People just seemed to ignore the fact that he basically auditioned for the position and thought he would revert to the best aspects of an AG it seemed. Total fiasco from start to finish.
While I don't believe it happens in every case -- I think the last resort for many who have not had 'sterling' careers ( like Barr ) is to write a book. Barr, like everyone bit off more than you can chew by siding with the Loon -- for any reason. So he is tainted for all time now and will I think be looked at as shady character with odd motives. No one ever ( who bumps up against Loony ) gets that they will never walk away from him clean of any tarnish or worse. No matter how many times they see it in others -- they just can't take that same application where they are concerned. Who knows for sure why those who appear most damaged in our society often manage to get away with the most heinous of activities. It is not reasonable at all and yet it takes yrs. it seems for many to get caught up with if they ever do.
I do think the Loon may get it because he deserves it royally, and there are I think so many investigations going on plus two ( I think ) grand juries at this point. I do fear though if something doesn't happen soon there will not be enough mentality left in the Loon to APPRECIATE what is happening. I read again today where his handlers are more and more afraid to let him out -- especially w/o a script. He doesn't always stay on ths script either -

If watching Fox news and other pro-loon TV channels pass as working for the US, then maybe that claim will hold water. But how can watching TV count as work unless it was as in the days of old when my DD had to watch online courses on TV at odd hours of the night (like 3 AM). We used to tape them so she could sleep and then watch them while awake. These were mandatory courses so she did have to remember to set up the VCR to tape them. Nowadays, VCR's are not readily available in most households. All he was doing was looking for the talking heads who supported him and made him feel like he was effective while ignoring his role and the job he was to do. Total loser and his son is a chip off the old block.
