Hello Sylvia,
Thank you for replying to Mary on the thread, now we all know that she's safe.
I've been having a problem with the site over the last few days. when I type a letter, my keyboard disappears - every time. I clicked on 'use plain text editor', next to the submit button and the keyboard no longer disappears, but the text is spaced out. when I submit the post, the text that appears is normal. Michael has no idea what's going on, I wondered if anyone else was having problems.
When I spoke to my breast cancer support nurse she told me that the waiting list for mammograms and appointments wasn't too bad. No one is answering the phone or responding to messages, which makes me wonder if the waiting list is kept short because patients can't get through to the hospital. My GP has referred me now, so I'll see what happens. There are plenty of reports in the newspapers regarding long delays in routine screening. What an absolute mess.
The Prime Minister has deliberately surrounded himself with incompetent 'yes men' . When he sells off our NHS to America, there will be no one in Government to oppose him. I've always feared my cancer would be back, now I have to add the fear of long delay and quite possibly no access to effective treatments at all. I'm so sad for those patients recently referred or diagnosed.
We went for a walk along Southwold seafront yesterday. The forecast was for a cool and cloudy day but with a jacket it was actually quite pleasant, especially when the sun came out. The beach wasn't crowded, neither was the town so it felt completely safe.
I keep wondering how adagio is. This is so stressful for her and her family, I'm hoping that surgery will be organised quickly.
Like you, I often look back on posts from years ago. So many people there who were desperate to find a community of women with a similar diagnosis. Facebook breast cancer sites are easy to find and supply a need, but nothing compares with the support offered on the vast majority of threads on this site and the information provided by the moderators. Sadly, it seems that almost all threads here have suffered due to the march of Facebook.
I hope Hanieh, Jags and Marias make contact soon.
Much love,
Gill xxx

Hello everyone,
Blame chemo brain. The post above was intended for Sylvia in the 'Calling all triple negatives in the UK thread' I am a cat person though and often lurk on the thread.

Rosiecat I personally enjoyed the deviation, although I'm sad for both our countries (mine more than yours, Boris may be wretched but he's no orange cheeto).
-
Rosiecat, come back anytime. Nice to hear from someone across the pond.
-
Agreed, but Boris was always a follower rather than a leader and he's catching up with the orange cheeto very quickly.
-
Hi Rosiecat, waving across the pond from Ireland!

Plot twist!
My older son and his wife had their first baby in January. My DIL (whom I adore) brought the coolest Maine Coon kitty into the marriage, she's had him for 10 years now. He hasn't adjusted well to a baby and started peeing outside the litter box. They've taken Leo (the kitty) to the vet and ruled out any medical reason for this change in behavior and done all sorts of things to mitigate but nothing's worked.
It's bad enough they're thinking they need to rehome the kitty. We've agreed to consider it (we will be there this weekend and can see how Leo's doing) but I was honest with my DIL. If Leo pees in my house too, we would need to rehome him.
So wise cat ladies of BC, have you ever successfully integrated an older male into a home with two other slightly older males? If so, what did you do?
-
edj3, I had a male cat that started peeing outside the box when I brought home another kitty. They did seem to get along OK, but he would wet on my bed, then it was the couch and then he sprayed me. I took him to my mom's and he would spray her walls. She took him to the vet and found out he had a tumor on his spine. She had the tumor removed and he was just fine after that. He lived with her until he was about 25 years old. The tumor did grow back cancerous and was his cause of death.
Cats, cats, cats is my Happy Place. LOL
-
When my one girl cat came on board, full grown, the male cats bullied her, she had to go on cat Prozac cause she was so anxious from them. But the merging of the full grown boy cats have never been a problem among themselves
-
petite1 fortunately they've taken him to the vet already and ruled out any health issues. I think this is stress peeing and he feels displaced.
-
I'm sure he does feel displaced (just like an older brother). I have a friend who only adopts older Siamese. She has a Feliway wall plug-in and says it works wonders. Chewy.com has good prices. Our cat is so laid back that we've had a bunch of foster cats of both genders and never had a problem. Poor kitty. Someone needs to pass the word that the baby always wins. I had to rehome the cat I owned when my DD was born. Cat was still jumping on her when she was a toddler. I still feel sad that I had to do it.
-
We experienced sibling rivalry with our dog when our son was born and again with our twins. When we talked to the vet about his behavior, he did say in those words that is what it was. Thank goodness no peeing was involved. Just eating baby wash cloths and socks and being blessed with him upchucking themlater.
-
I wish I could tolerate Feliway but I can't. We've used the spray and diffuser and then tried the collars on the kitties (this was after our third flood so my boys were understandably very nervous) and it rubbed their fur off. So I don't think we can go that route.
He's a sweet cat, and we're up for giving it a try.
-
Unless he absolutely hates other cats, it should work out. The boys seem to integrate better than the girls. The girls seem to have "my house" syndrome. And if it doesn't, Maine Coons are in high demand so no problem finding another home.
-
edj3, I would definitely recommend prozac for cats. I feel so bad for the kitty's stress.
-
Best wishes edj3. I hope and trust all will work out for the best.
-
good luck edj3, I don't have an experience with bringing in a new cat. One of mine is skiddish, nervous. My vet has a "calming" food that seems to help a little. She was on a medicine cream that I put in her ear. Like a kitty prozac but i forgot the name . Eventually got her weaned off it. I hope it all works out!
-
Well my DIL isn't ready to rehome the kitty. Which I get, she's had Leo since he was a kitten and he's 10 now. So she's loving on him more and continuing to try other tactics so he doesn't pee on the already peed on spots. She also said he doesn't really like other kitties and well I'm not ditching my 13 y/o boys.
-
edj, I hope it works. Miss Felix takes Gabapentin, but I never have to give it to her anymore, She has become use to Midnight Louie and doesn't see him as much of a threat.
-
Good luck Edj3. I think it all comes down to personalities but I agree that you will have higher chance of success with all males than all females. But what I wish most of all is that big "brother" calms down and accepts his new role as still loved, but sharing like any sibling has to do.
-
Your DIL should use an enzyme cleaner everywhere he's gone so the smell doesn't attract him to do it again. Also, a shower curtain over the bed or sofa can keep those from being marked or reused. Also making sure the kitty gets a lot of extra attention and loving. I don't blame him for being jealous.
