What a beautiful thing all of you are doing. The afghans are just lovely. Of course I cried when reading and looking at the pics. It just amazes me at just how much love and support there is on these boards. The women that receive the afgans are going to be so touched.

Unfortunately I don't crochet, but I would love to contribute in some way. Please, please tell me how I can be a part of this.

    You are all wonderful women!

I have two squares done. whoopie I did them with single crochet. would double be faster. I tried the nifty knitter and I really couldn't get it to work. I expect I will get faster with time.

Holy Moly girls, those blankies are GORGEOUS!!!
Cheri, congrats on your first square. My first one took several days and several do overs. I've got 6 done now. I think I'm getting the hang of it.
Susan, the squares were way to "loose" on the nifty knitter. But it does make lovely scarves. Have made 6 of those so far. And 3 hats. The fancy schmancy yarn is so easy to use on it.

PS squares under the influence was not a good thing. Apparently morphine and crochet hooks are not a good combo.

Vicky and Madison, the afghans are looking great. I don't know how you find so much time. I'm really busy with work and will be until April 17. Only get to knit maybe 15 minutes a day or so. It takes an hour to knit 1 square!!

Everybody, what are you finding is the cheapest way to package and mail? Has anybody tried one of those soft plastic envelopes? I have used cardboard boxes both times and I think most of the weight is the box itself. -- Donna in VA

Sandy, thank you for your kind words....send a PM to Vickie or myself at anytime....

Bayyore.....I'll bring some "how to books", hooks and yarn..to Pinkstock....Vickie and I will be the two CG's in the center of the circle, by the fire, with yarn and hooks in our hands.....I will gladly teach anyone to crochet and I am sure Vickie would be happy to also teach the technique....

I mailed my squares in the free priority envelope from the USPS. I used the kind-of plasticy (is that a word) one. I fit 12 squares and Vicky said they got there fine.

I just received word that the afghan mailed this week HAS REACHED OUR SPECIAL BC SISTER........I think she may post something soon. I am so happy it is with her.....I know Vickie and I worry when we mail these afghans out because these individuals WILL NOT recognize our name or return address. We worry they will not accept the package...

Anyway, SHE HAS RECEIVED THE AFGHAN!!!! Thank all of you for making this special gift possible.

Bayyore...oh you bet we will teach you! It will be so much fun.
Sooo excited to here that one of our afhgans was received...hope to hear something soon. Hope we brought someone a smile.
They posted our afghan project at church today and some of the ladies want to learn how to crochet and some think we should have a "sewing together" night at my house! We are working out the details but it sounds great to me...the more hands we have the more afghans we can send.
The afghan I sent out last week should arrive by tommorrow at the latest so we may have more happy news this week.
I also may have a large yarn donation and will know for sure tomorrow so I will let you know and if anyone needs yarn I'll send it off to you just write me a pm with your address.
    Love and hugs

    Hi Girls,

I have been using the Priority Mail Box that you can pick up at the USPS. It cost around $5.00 to mail the squares, but the box is sturdy and holds quite a few squares. A bit under $5 to mail to Vickie and just a Smidge over to mail to Madison.
    Hugs,

Liz, I am almost finished putting borders around the squares I received Saturday, then will begin construction on a new afghan tonight. I have enough squares for this afghan, plus 12 extra. I will need more squares for the next afghan.

I think Vickie is almost done with another afghan and she may need squares soon.

I received my box yesterday in the mail. The afghan is absolutely awesome. Last night was the first night I sat by the television in my chair and was actually warm. Because of the high price of heating fuel we have been forced to lower the thermostat. It was below 0 last night.

Anyway I got up to move around a bit and when I came back my blanket was gone! There was my 16 year sitting in another chair all snuggled up in it! I had to fight him to get it back. It truly is warm, and I spent most of last night looking at each kind of yard and each kind of stitch that went into each square.

I'm so glad someone else here is able to carry out what Lilia and I started some time ago. The quilting project just grew into more than 1 person can do. I used to know how to crochet but it's been so long don't know if I remember how!

Thanks once again for your thoughtfulness, and all your hard work that went into this afghan. Don't ever let this thread be broken!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Wondering what happened to Marisa's afghan. I mailed it to the address on this site to her attention. Should we contact Melissa and Tammi and see if it's arrived...don't want it to get lost somewhere!

I hope you hear if Marisa received the afghan soon. It hasn't come back to you, and I'm sure she would have acknowledged it. Hope it isn't lost.

I've got some squares done. Was hoping to hold out a few days so I could send both of you atleast 12. Let me know if you need them right away and I'll mail what I have. I know it takes a couple days to get to Vickie and 2 or 3 days to get to Madison.
    Hugs,

You can wait a few days if you want Denise and sent to both of us. I'm finishing one tonight and need to put borders on what I have for the next one. Thank you.

Hey gang. I am a knitter (and sort of a crocheter). My mom owns a knitting shop in NC. :-)

I just finished chemo and RT on 03-01-07. So, I am good to go to help anyway I can. Just let me know if I can help.

Cheryl...welcome and join the fun. Your mom owns a knitting shop!!! oh my...good thing I don't leave near there as the last thing I need is more yarn LOL. She'd probably ban me!!
PM me or Madison if you have any questions...the squares are 7x9 and can be knit or crochet, any color and yarn except wool (as it will shrink).

Jodigirl (Cheryl) welcome. We are a pretty nutty bunch here. It's so good to give back though isn't it. I'm just learning how to crochet. I've finished 2 1/2 squares. I'm trying to decide which of these lucky ladies will recieve my master pieces.
