Chasing goats seems like a good way to keep the pounds off! Do you have to run up hills after them? Good to see you back, Cowgirl.

Tried Curves at lunchtime today. It worked out GREAT! I was not tired at work, but after work it seems I always am. I am hoping to go on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at lunch and run errands on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Started my 1200 Calorie or less diet yesterday. Today lost 2.5 pounds. I hope that I can keep it up. With all of your help I KNOW I CAN!

Question: How are you ladies able to put your pictures next to your name (in the yellow boxes on left of screen?) Please print directions.

Thank you and Good Luck to all of YOU!

Go to MY HOME, then under MAIN CONFIGURATION click on EDIT next to PERSONAL INFORMATION. Way at the bottom is where you upload your picture.

The picture has be be fairly small, that's always the hardest part for me, getting the picture to be the right size.

Okay, I bravely went to WW tonight. Amazingly, I only gained back 4.6 pounds of the 5 pounds that I had lost.
Lots of reasons-inability to exercise after my last surgery, too much pigging out, complete loss of will power.....

I just bought 2 walking/exercise tapes from Leslie Sansone that my friend told me about.

And as of next Wednesday, I can go back to work and get back into exercising. Neither of those options really thrill me, but I really want to lose some blubber to show off my new boobies.

    Good job Louann!!

Denise, is she the freakishly upbeat "walk, walk, powerwalk" lady?? If so I have a tape of her but couldn't really stand to hear her regularly!

I was to 171 this am - hope I can get 170 (or less) by Tuesday. Looks like I'll be shaving the haead this weekend - surely that's good for a pound or two...

    KariLynn,
That would be her, I guess. But I like the tape as it is so much better than my boooooooooring treadmill.
It is also a lot like my very old Susan Powter tape.

We run the goats up the road. I think you lose your focus with recovery, at least that is what I did. At first my frozen shoulder, and then you get caught up in what you can't do instead of what you can do.

Keep up movement of any kind, that is the trick I honestly think. Move anything you can when you can.

I am eating my FIL's tamales, he does great food at times. But they need some heat, I will spice them up and they will taste better.

    hi all---

I last posted in TheresaPW's low fat-high fiber thread during the Hummus era, if you remember back to that. i do read this thread since it has become more active than the other one. I have been dieting and exercising on my own since the end of last June, after changing my diabetic meds and getting rid of one insulin and another med that causes weight gain. I have lost 49 lbs in 6 months and want to lose more still. In order to do the exercising, i had to rehab my bad back in Physical therapy. It has been a life-changing year for me.

I noticed that you were joking about losing weight with body parts, so i wanted to say that that when i had my single mast one and a half years ago, i lost 11 lbs overnite. That is what one of my boobs weighs!!!

i am just checking in with you all. I enjoy this thread. Good luck to you all.

    peace,
    celia

    My goodness! You're doing great.

I've still got a tub of hummus in my fridge. It's only a few weeks old.

Cowgirl I see you made a comment about frozen shoulder. Are you on Tamoxifen? If so, did you get frozen shoulder since you were in treatment? I was diagnosed with it in September after being on Tamoxifen for 2 years and severe shoulder pain (which I attributed to getting older) for 1 year. I've always wondered if it was from the Tamoxifen. I was in PT for about 3 months (until my insurance company stopped it because they said my pain wasn't bad enough to continue). It is definitely better than it was. Just wondering what your thoughts were? Thanks. Janet

    Celia,

Did you go on Byetta? It's a diabetic med that's supposed to help with weight loss and all of our diabetics who've gone on it have lost weight. And good for you for the weight loss; that's super.

Wiped the cheesecake crumbs from my mouth just as I clicked on to this thread! Just started WW with my daughter and lost a whopping 4.2 lbs. I'm an emotional eater and this bc ride is one big emotional roller coaster! You ladies are an inspiration. Think I'll head here instead of the refrigerator 1st next time!

Celia of course I remember you, sounds like you are doing well on weightloss.

Janet I got frozen shoulder after my exchange surgery, my bilateral recon gave me an option of no tomox. My mom took it five years then two years later got IDC and DCIS. With my family I did not want to trust tomox. Tamox for most works, my family is just really a fluke I guess. Since then I tested neg for the gene.

I had frozen shoulder 1 full year, which was so painful mere words can not express. When it cleared up believe it or not it was more painful. So now the pain is much less, and movement is almost back. I kept up the goats, just leaned on one arm so often it was frustrating. I am very weak on my left side but it does feel better to feel better.
I went back to work and forced my arms to work, it was not a bad idea, I felt better working and pushing than giving into pain.

Hang in there, it is a very long process, and no real way to rush it. I tried PT but it never really opened up until my shoulder was ready.

A dear friend fixed homemade spaghetti sauce, which is S's fav. So that is dinner tonight!

    Tomorrow is crockpot salsa chicken!

    Celia, that's fantastic!!

Bad news flash, short hair doesn't weigh that much! LOL. OK, I didn't really start back this week as promised but tomorrow starts a new weigh in week so I'm going to do the menu plan tonight. I look kind of cute bald with cheekbones and one chin - don't want to mess that up!

I still haven't tried that salsa chicken but keep thinking I need to. Do you start with the frozen breasts or is your chicken thawed?

Well February will be 12 full months since I had officially decided to start losing weight. Amazingly though the weight didn't start coming off until my mets were dx. Right now I am at almost 80 lbs lost, 6 of those in the last two weeks. Not sure what is causing the weight loss, hopefully it is the Arimidex. I figure there has to be some positive to this drug! LOL I am dreading the day the weight loss just stops on me, then I am in trouble. I have another 60 pounds I'd like to lose at this rate I will make my goal by 2008!

LuAnn - You are causing the weight loss!

As far as I can tell Arimidex doesn't do much for weight loss. It's your good work -eating right and exercising- that's doing it.

    Credit where it is due!

Whoops, i forgot to come back here to check for responses!!!

Rose--a few weeks old Hummus??? Gak!!!! lol

Louann--i do recumbant bike, treadmill, Total Gym for legs, a machine with pullies that i lift weights on for arms, and i do this 3 times a week, about 45 minutes a session.

Ginger---you guessed it--Byetta made the difference for me and it makes my blood glucose so normal. I had the first 6.5 Hemoglobin A1c test in my life!!! I have been on Byetta for the whole six months.

Cowgirl and Kari--thanks for the words of encouragement!!

I had years before this year that i could not lose an ounce, due to taking insulin and doing less activity because of my worsening knee joint plus 4 knee surgeries till i finally got my knee replacement. This has been an amazing year for me and i do feel much healthier now. I have been reading this thread and getting encouraged by your experiences too.

I am a vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and i eat very little fat, and always eat whole grains.

What are your exercise regimes like?? thanks!

    peace,
    celia

    Celia,

Yeah, for the 6.5. That and your weight loss are making you so much healthier. I bet your energy level is up and I can't imagine (wish I could) the self esteem boost the loss of a lot of weight can be! Great news! (When I tell my dh, an internist who has a large diabetic practice, he'll have an example to mention to patients!!!)

I would love to take credit but the only change in my diet that I really did was to have yogurt for breakfast instead of Burger King. I was walking early in the year, got up to almost 3 miles a day and totally quit with the mets dx. Now I eat chocolate like it was going out of style and anything I want and never exercise. Watch me jinx myself but something in my body has changed dramatically since July and I am now like all those skinny girls you are jealous of. I eat whatever I want whenever I want and never gain an ounce. Mind you I am not complaining but it is strange.

    LuAnn
