Please check her out. She is a wonderful person. And has been so supportive to me through my own weight loss journey.

And has had many prayers for me during my battle with BC too. She is truly a blessing to all who know her.

    Hi all
Well, here I go. Lost 20+ pounds during chemo but went wild with the food once the tastebuds came back. Gained back 24 pounds since then (March). Now my onc says I need to lose some. Going on Arimidex and heard it puts on pounds so better get myself under control now. Still have my old WW books so I guess I will start there. Diet Pepsi is my drug of choice so I started by cutting down to 1 can per day. Now if only my willpower would kick in
Posting today at 164 ... posting gives me incentive ... you ladies give me inspiration
    Hugs

Cheryl, maybe you would like to go for some support and a night to yourself to a WW meeting.

They are getting ready to tweak the program a little. Not really sure what will be changing. Our leader gave us the heads up on Monday night.

Well, amazingly, in spite of going out to eat 4 times in a week, I managed to lose .8 pounds, for a total of 5.2 pounds in 5 weeks.
At my WW meeting I got a star !!!!!!!
Everyone is so right about writing down everything you eat. Some days when I know that I am over, I don't bother, and that is when my weight goes up.
But I really have a hard time figuring out the points when I have dinner out. So I don't bother to record the points and that is a big mistake.
I am being good and doing my Pilates and walking daily. And I even tried to do my aerobics again, but for only 10 minutes per day. I got plantar faciitis a year ago from doing aerobics in my socks, and it took this long for my foot to finally feel better.
So I am wearing my New Balance shoes and my custom orthodics like a good girl while doing the aerobics.

    Great job Denise.

As a fellow foot-injury sufferer I say skip the aerobics and stick with the walks. If you re-injury your foot doing aerobics you won't be able to do anything.

    Hi everyone
Mary ... I would love to go to a meeting but we moved to a small town and the nearest meeting is over an hour away Hmmmm...maybe starting a chapter here would be an idea
Denise ... I too suffered the plantar thing. It takes soooo long to get rid of, you are wise to be a good girl
Everyone... good luck on the "pounds" Remember ... slow but sure is the best way to keep it off
Good day to all ....hugs to all in need

I'm glad your feet are better, Denise. Mine have improved too. As we PF sufferers know, barefoot is not good, so keeping those New Balance's and orthotics on will help a lot. I still have to pace myself as I'm worried that if I overdo I'll be back with the PF.

I joined WW on l0/5/06. I had gained 30 lbs since my diagnosis of BC last July 2005 and seems the Tamoxifen just kept me from losing weight. I lost 7 lbs so far and am so happy. I got my 5 lb bookmark last week. My goal is to be l25 lbs again. I also bought an urban trampoline. It is a small tramopline (about 30 lbs) and you have tapes to help you do all kinds of cardio and other exercises. There is also a section of doing abdominal exercises while sitting on it..that is the killer for me. I've just recently started it so on the beginners mode but it comes with three tapes and also includes doing yoga on it. I have a small condo and didn't have room for a treadmill, so this seems to be perfect for me.

Great work MaryTim! When Memberoftheclub hit her goal despite tamoxifen and effexor we had to know that it can be done.

I keep my birks right by my bed and the first thing I do when I get up is put my feet into them.

Breasts are nice, but feet are critical!

    Rose,
I agree with the Birks. I have found that my feet feel better in my Birks than in my New Balance for around the house.
Also, thank you for the caution about my aerobics. I have a friend who teaches aerobics and she also told me to quit doing aerobics as my Plantar Faciitis might very well come back.
I'll just have to cut back on the food (yeah-right!)
I have been eating out 4 times a week lately with birthday celebrations, banquets, etc.-this is really tough!
    And the Holidays are looming........

Well no aerobics doesn't mean no walking or swimming does it?

Aerobics is nice because you get a higher intensity workout, which means it's shorter. If you can work a walk in it may take longer to burn the same calories but you still get the benefit - plus it's easier on your feet and joints.

I could open my own sports medicine consulting service I've had so many different parts hurt. If walking delivers the same benefit I say go for that!

    Hi Rose,
I have been pretty good with my 2 miles walking daily and also doing my Pilates routine.
I was doing the aerobics in addition.
I am just so anxious to get back into my normal routine, but since I will have more surgery in less than 3 weeks, I know that I will have to quit exericising once again.
    Perhaps in the new year.............

Those aches and pains are eased with cross training. Not over doing anything. Biking also is easy on the feet.

When I go to step and all the young girls (who are probably in their early 30s) do the hop-turns I walk around the bench or step over it. Sometimes when they do lots of jumping or power jacks I alternate feet or slow down.

Big deep moves will ramp your heart up without all the impact.

It takes courage to modify your routine because you feel different, but it's better than being out of action.

At this time of year we're probably better off keeping the exercise constant whatever it is, and being more careful about eating. The weather is getting colder and the goodies are coming out in droves!

    168

Changed weigh in day to Tuesday (an extra day to flush out the weekend pop...lol) I'm going to try to eat at home as much as possible and save the points for events, not junk. Also getting my exercise bike back (in sister's basement) so I can work out at home when I don't have time to get to the Y.

Kari - You did it. You stayed below 170! That's great.

You can watch TV while you bike and spend the savings from eating at home on one of the house re-dos.

Hi ladies, I'm joining the group! A little history on me...
I was exercising and dieting for 8 months last year, lost 34 lbs. Got diagnosed in November of last year and thru the exercise and the diet right out the window. Now 1 year later, I gained back 20 of those pounds, still leaving me a staggering 65 plus lbs overweight.

3 weeks ago started both back up. Try to work out at a curves type place for women and get back in the swing of things. I'm going to Vegas in January, so my first goal is to lose 20 lbs by Jan 11th. I've lost only 2 in 3 weeks. Not thrilled with those results. But I've got 18 to go and 10 weeks to do it. I've got pants I want to fit in that I bought last year if I can make it.

Good luck, Diane!! I went to a Curves-type place for about a year and LOVED it. They closed so I moved to the Y, but that is a good workout especially when you're getting started - can work at your own pace.

Two pounds lost is better than 2 pounds gained - keep it up!

Dianne - are you doing any particular diet?

I go past a Curves on the way to work. I think anything you can get worked into your routine and will do regularly is a good thing!

Dianne-Having a goal is good too. Okay, now you know what it took to get those first 2 pounds off--if you can step it up a bit you just might make that goal!! Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragment girls! I'm going to need all the help I can get. We do have a sort of group at work that is helping as well. We are trying to do it together.

I don't have any special diet. Just trying to cut calories, eat healthier, eat breakfast (which I usually skipped) and generally, just quit eating everything in sight! I have a HUGE sweet tooth, love chocolate, ice cream, etc. I think that was my biggest downfall.

I'm into week 3 now exercising and I am starting to work harder at it each day. I started slow, as to not hurt myself, but I am now stepping it up a bit!

Oh, and Beer drinking is another downfall!!! But I'll be damned if I give that up!

You don't have to give up the beer, but you should choose to drink water the rest of the time to compensate. No one will keep wieght off if they deprive themselves of what they love (witness my pepsi addiction...) but you can "earn" those things and still do well.

Maybe a goal for a couple of weeks could be to record what you eat. You'll be surprised how you rethink what you put in your mouth once you hold yourself accountable for it!!

You gotta have a plan when you drink beer.

With Pepsi at least you keep your wits about you. With beer things get happier and it's easy to over eat as well.

Weighed in today. Lost 2 lbs last week! Worked out 4 days. Even had pizza for lunch one day. 4 lbs total lost, 16 more to go to meet my first goal of losing 20! (yes I had beer too, but I had a plan, 3 and out!)
Does anyone have a plan for Turkey Day? This scares me, 2 meals to go to, pumkin pie, potatoes, stuffing, OH MY!!!

Great job. Two pounds is just right.

I like the 'one plate' strategy. You eat like a normal person, but you only have one plate - no going back for seconds or eating chips all afternoon. Don't know if you get a seperate plate for dessert or not.

    Then you take a walk.

    Great job Dianne!!!

I know I didn't lose this week (hoping to stay in the 160s.) I've read that you get the full flavor of something in 2-3 bites. Maybe try taking very small portions of the things you love that are point-killers and fill the rest of your plate with veggies. I'm baking a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving. I've never made one before so it could be a disaster - that would be best for the diet!!!

Amen on the walk. I'll do the bike in the morning too - DH moved mine to the house yesterday. YEAH! You just need to use more than you eat and you'll get through the holidays with a loss.

Kari - did you stay below 170?

My Mom is doing pumpkin cheesecake, and then grinding up heath bars and sprinkling them across the top. Yummm.

    168. Not sure how but I'll take it!!

Moving weigh in day to Tuesday was my best move yet - doesn't let me have an "artificial high" from the pop on Monday so I really have to lose during the week, not just get off the water weight.

We're going out of town this weekend so not sure if I can expect to lose this week but will try - would like to hit 160 by New Year but it doesn't fall off quite as easily as it did (actually, I don't track as well as I did!)

    Kari - that's good you're holding on!

It's a holiday. Just try not to let it become a holi-week!

I think it is harder to lose the last pounds. You're gonna get there. Holding below 170 is an accomplishment in itself.
