Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!

Hearing the "you look good"s on Thursday will help keep me in line. I don't usually do that bad on holidays - the drive to the in-laws with the pepsi (don't do water well on road trips...) will be the challenge.
We're staying in a Holidome so can get some swimming in - as long as I keep moving I think I'll keep losing. Despite the cheesecake... -
GREAT JOB staying in the 160's kariLynn. I did look back thru your posts and have seen how far you come. Your Avatar looks great. You should be very proud!
-
I like Holidomes.
You'll have fun. Try to just eat stuff that's really good and special -- -
Did anyone else besides me eat practically a whole week's worth of WW points in just one day????
Burpppppp -
Me, me, me!!!
-
How was the cheesecake?
We went out to MILs dining room and they had two different varieties of it. It must have been the 'thing' this year. -
Not too bad but not as good as pumpkin pie with whipped cream (could have saved a lot of time and $$!)
-
I too ate too much but I had eaten nothing for 36 hours before. I had a GI thing and took a day off work which is highly unusual. I wouldn't recommend that as a way to not worry about Thanksgiving calories. By the evening meal, all I wanted was the fruit salad! Guess we get used to not stuffing ourselves on fat calories.
-
I ate too much too. It will be nothing short of a miracle if I don't gain when I weigh in on Monday...
-
The report I got from my Mom was that the cheesecake tasted pretty good but it wasn't much to look at. She thinks she'll stick with pie because the cheesecake was too much work!
She also came home with a bunch of pheasant so that's what's for Christmas dinner -
170
Would be one thing if this was holiday related but is totally Pepsi related. Rose, if you could smack me upside the head (right side, please) I'd sure appreciate it! -
Actually I'm about ready to declare a mulligan for this week.
I've been staring at numbers I don't want to see either. The stuffing is just about all gone although I do still have gravy left (and I didn't have company at my house).
We've just all got to get back in the saddle.... Kari can knock off the Pepsi and I can get those cookies out of sight and mind. Don't even ask about the mint choclate chip ice cream -- what's that got to do with Thanksgiving??? -
Leftovers are the devil!! I threw my extra cheesecake away - hurt to do it but was better than eating it all!!
I think I remember something about the pilgrims bringing chocolate chips and the indians wanting to mix it with their fresh mint. I could be wrong...
Mulligan it is - turns out it was a holi-week!! Let's not make it a holi-month! -
Well, I worked so hard to lose 5 pounds at WW, but managed to gain it all back within the last week.
The only consolation is that I am having my exchange surgery tomorrow, so maybe I can lose a little since I won't be eating for 24 hours.
However, that IS being a bit extreme! -
Good luck with your surgery - I hope it goes well!!!
That is a bit above and beyond for weight loss though... -
If it went on that fast it should come off fast too. I figure twice as long to get rid as to gain.
I wouldn't feel bad about the cheesecake. You made it, you ate what you wanted. It's a dessert and a bit short on nurtition (unlike oatmeal cookies ).
Unless you would freeze it and get it out for guests you might as well get rid of the rest. -
Thanks Karilynn!
Right now my tummy is doing some major grumbling so I darned well better lose something! -
Sorry you went back to the 170 Kari, get back in the saddle and see that 6 again!
I may have a delayed reaction to the Holiday, but I lost 1/2lb last week. I'll take that...I certainly did not behave all week! I hope It doesn't show up this week!
Good luck with your surgery Denise. -
Finally! Someone who did it.
Great job Dianne! -
I lost weight, too, over the holiday weekend, but I got sick before in order to do it. I don't think that counts and I don't recommend it! But it's inspired me to keep it off; so far so good.
Hope all goes well, Denise. Thinking of you. -
Old Goal = 160 by New Year
New Goal = 168 byNew Year
I find I could care less about counting points during the holidays. I want to bake and eat out and have fun. Will continue with the exercise and the daily weigh ins as I don't want to gain, but I'm not going to try to lose.
Good luck to those of you with more will power than I!!!
Denise - saw you posting somewhere else - that was fast! Hope everything went well and you are happy with the results! -
Hi All,
I got home the same day as my surgery. I had an exchange from expander to saline implant under my lat flap yesterday. My PS was going to fill in a dent on my other saline boob that is a year and a half old, but the dent got bigger. It is called a scar band, and he will do that surgery on a later date. He wants to lipo fat from my tummy to fill it in. And yes, I have a lot of tummy lately.
So after waiting for 4 years, I do seem to have 2 boobs again and sure hope I don't lose this new one to a staph infection again.
I feel pretty good with very little pain, except for the darned drain. This makes a total of 14 drains for me, so I think that I am still the drain queen on here !
And after not eating all day of the surgery, I managed to gain 2 more pounds........... -
LOL - that saline is heavy!!! Glad it went well and you have your boobies back - hope you don't have any problems with infections!
-
I think a deliberate decision, and a commitment to stay at one weight is a postive thing. You want your body to get in the groove of keeping itself below 170 - even if it's just 169.
IMO if you ease up on the diet -- don't quit with the exercise! It helps with the weight plus you'll feel better.
I have a new diet book - The Reality Diet I read about it in Women's Health. Here are the suggestions for Holiday and Party Tips: arrive a little late - you'll avoid awkward eating to be doing something Don't arrive hungry Don't hang by the food table Fill up on soup/salad Go for a small plate and a half portion - you can try everything that way Eat only what you love - I think this is very important. No need to gain weight on old chips Eat slowly Nibble on fruit instead of candy, nuts, cookies, choclate (nuts are a killer) Stop when you feel full - Carry a toothbrush and brush to signal that you're done eating Exercise the day of the party AND the day after When you cook try to go low-fat - or at least only go high fat for things YOU love Send leftovers home - (back to the old chip issue)
Do you have a new party outfit? Be sure it shows off the 30+ pounds you've lost this year! -
I do! Nothing fancy (no fancy partys!) but it looks good. Hoping the snow and ice melts before next Friday or I'll be afraid of the heels!!
I am going to try to cook the same goof stuff when we eat at home so I can eat whatever when we go out.
Thanks for the tips - that one about old chips is so true, not point-worthy at all (even if I'm not writing them, I'll be thinking them!) -
I went wild this year.
I have a new skirt and top to wear to the office lunches.
I have a brocade jacket and skirt that goes with some pants to wear to parties and when I visit family. I didn't even lose 30 pounds!
Heels - maybe I need some shoes? Christmas is bad for me - it's always one present to you, one for me! I actually save money shopping on the Internet. -
I know what you mean, Kari, about not depriving yourself. It's all around us now. My mom had some newly made peanut brittle the other night. I tried to stick to one small piece. Can you eat just one? How hard is that?
We're having our holiday party on Friday; eating out first and dessert at our house. I'm having cheesecake and raspberry torts. I could get out the celery, radishes, and carrots for me, ha! And the holiday battle begins...
Trying hard to stay the same size! -
Rose, I bought some knee high black boots with a pretty good heel on them. Have a denim skirt and khaki and black gouchos I can wear with them when I get the courage! I always was the tallest grl in the class and taller than the boys so never really wore and learned how to walk in heels - have the tall man now but still am not comfortable in them.
If I break a hip this year, it will be from trying to look fashionable!! At least Stacy and Clinton would be proud - LOL!
Ginger, I never cared for penut brittle. Not sure why not, I love peanuts. I don't think I could walk by the cheesecake to the celery! Enjoy your party. -
Kari - you sound like you're going for the Condi Rice look. I did go look at D&W Shoewarehouse, but nothing struck me. I'll have to keep looking.
I'm short and never learned to walk in heels because I couldn't walk as fast as I wanted to keep up with the boys!
(in retrospect that sounds a little odd - hopefully you know what i mean)
I made some brownie bites last night - brownies in a mini-cupcake tin. It makes it easier to get a small portion. I used the silicone pan someone gave me, what a disaster. I don't know who likes those silicone baking pans.
If the peanut brittle had some chocolate frosting on it I would be glued to the dish! -
If peanut brittle isn't fresh then it's too hard for me and I can pass on it!
When I was 25 I hurt my back and it's been flat shoes for me since then. I am looking for some corduroy slacks. Corduroy is everywhere right now. So many are those low risers these days and I just can't get used to that.
I'm in between sizes so I buy the larger and hope I'll have occasion to take them in! If I bought the smaller, I'd never be comfortable.
