I have 3 cats, 2 dogs- they all outsmart me at dinner time when trying to get them to eat the healthy stuff.
Just as bad as i am. ummmm- no broccolii thanks, I'll take the cheesecake!

Purring and eating is good. XXX

Hi Rose - Mr. Slim, my 17 1/2 year old persian, eats two gravy packets a day, much like Ruth's kitty he has also figured out a way to focus on the liquid and avoid some of the tuna or chicken. lol But last night we made homemade chili and biscuits and he begged for his favorite biscuit. Don't ask me why he like McDonalds french fries.... he is still purring and gets fluids once a week. I am glad Percy is snuggled up to you and purring.
We had a ton of rain in Socal last night.
-
Pretty rainy in Wicklow in Ireland too!! Have had such a lovely long dry Autumn, it's a shock.
-
Our foxgloves are still blooming (all the the above taken yesterday) and they always make me think of you Rose. May have lost a few flowers after today's wind and rain though.
-
Dearest Rose, holding you extra close in my thoughts and heart.
-
my 17 year old Minmea (princess) who chooses to sleep anywhere but the new bed I bought for her(next to the laundry) , that has a warmer in it, because one of the other cats slept in it once. Why are they so stubborn?
Hope you are having a good day and resting without pain.
-
Arthur completely rejected cosy hooded bed from petshop. Then when DD got gift of Our Generation dolls tent (about same size and shape as hooded bed) he went straight in to that! Cats definitely like to keep us on our toes.
-
Thinking of you Rose. Do you get fluids today? Thank you for updating us about Stephanie. I know her passing has mixed emotions. Wishing you and your family peace.
-
Today has been hard, cloudy and grey. I took a huge amount of my summer clothes and all dresses to Helping Hands thrift shop. United way runs it and gives the clothes away free. I like giving things to them. The folks that shop there look like they could really use a free bag of clothes. The volunteers are great.
I can't do anything with DD3 I am so bloated and miserable. I threw up everything I ate/ drank.. so nothing is going down. I have never thrown up so much at one time in my life. I pulled off a liter plus of ascites. Something gets through. I get fluids tomorrow. Hope it tanks me up for Thurs and Friday. Percy cat is peeing bloody urine but DH doesn't want to put him down until Saturday after we are all gathered and the kids can say goodbyes. He doesn't seem to be in pain still ravenously hungry. We both are doing lousy. Oy.. I feel like crap and I have so much cooking to do.
I will miss Stephanie's voice but I am jealous she is free at last. It must be sweet. She surely did earn her wings though. Lovingkindness to you all.
-
Oh Rose - so sorry you are having this much trouble today. I'm still moping over lovely Stephanie, but wishing tomorrow's fluids do the trick for energy through Thanksgiving. Very sorry that Percy purr kitty is peeing blood, he must be such a comfort and hard to lose right now. I am giving Mr Slim fluids every week and begged him to last through New Years.
It's rather grey here today after the deep soaking we had on Sunday. Feeling Feline - it's been awhile since I worked on a film at Ardmore - but we were there for "Ballykissangel" and shot part of "Michael Collins" when Morgan O'Sullivan ran the stages. I hope everyone has a nice dry holiday! (())

Rose, I pray for some relief for you during thanksgiving. I hope you are able to enjoy and spend quality time with your family. I hope the same for Percy. Such a difficult time for you both.
-
Sending you (and Percy) my thoughts and prayers.
-
For Rose and dear Percy. One of my fav pictures.
-
Noni and LALady. More cat loving friends of Rose!
LALady - my Mum and Dad used to live round the corner from Ardmore Studios. We, and they, live closer to Ashford Studios (where Vikings is shot) now.
Rose so sorry to hear you and Percy are both down again. It is extra hard at such a busy time in the US. Let someone at least HELP with the food, your DH always seems so kind about offering. If he and/or other family can take the whole shebang off your hands EVEN BETTER. You must be worn out. Time for a comfy chair for you and Percy
.
-
I have a comfy recliner in the living room that I plan to be parking myself in! Cook.. sit....cook sit. DH is an excellent cook and he likes it. So I am lucky in that. Those are some lovely chairs to sit in.
Percy continues to go down hill. He was rather pathetic last night, laid on my lap and we talked to DD3 about having to say good bye. SHe cried and shook her head no.. but understands and wanted to go to the vets with us. He's soo thin and drinking so much water. So many of us have old cats 16 + years of loved kitty bonding. I will bury him in the garden under the bench he loved to sit on and sun himself. Perfect tribute. He patrolled our 1/4 acre like it was his mission in life to do so! Loved the old tombstone about Dewey and the photo of Minmea... beautiful.
Off to the chemo suite at 730... hoping traffic will be light. I should feel better after fluids. If you are traveling be safe! Hugs to all.

Rosevalley, my heart goes out to your family for Percy. Our furry family members mean as much as human family members. You will be doing it out of love, but it is still a difficult time after knowing someone so long and loving him so much. My thoughts go out to you. I will soon have to decide that for my Miss Kitty too. Her hindquarters are not working right and that is never good either. Already has kidney disease so she is pretty sick.
Found this and thought it appropriate for how we feel about our furry family members.

Nice one Mara!
-
My DH made an appointment to Euthanize our old man on Saturday. DDs will get to love on him for 2 days. I hope he isn't suffering. He's still eating and drinking. Sweet Percy Cat is etched into my heart for all time. We have loved each other for 16 years and I remember helping my DD2 on her 5th birthday to pick him out of the humane society. Tomorrow will be a time to enjoy each other and take pictures.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy and express gratitude. Lovingkindness to all.
-
Definitely a very hard time for you. After 23 years with Ashley it was so hard to say goodbye. I guess I tried to reflect on all those years of pleasure and memories she had given us. Coming to realize to be thankful for the time she was with us. I hope you have a nice thanksgiving
-
Sorry Rose. It is a really, really hard decision I know. Know you are loving him so much. XXX
-
Sending a hug. As well as reflecting on how much he has meant to you and your family, think of the wonderful, free, happy, love-filled life you have given him. Lucky family, lucky cat!
-
Thinking of you, Rose. May you find peace like this riverduring this difficult time.
-
-
holding you in my thoughts and prayers. You are such a devoted mother. It's really inspiring. You have suffered so much, to give to others, not just your children.
Can I ask, has it been worth it? If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
You don't have to answer. Very personal and selfish of me to ask
-
Praying for you and your family today, as I know it will be a very difficult one. From reading this thread, it is clear Percy has been so loved by you and he has been a wonderful companion too! Big hugs to you. -
-
Sending love to you and Percy the most special cat! So sorry for this sad timing.
-
Rose, we had to put our beloved Bulldog, Tiffy, down because she had cancer....and it was 2 days b4 Thanksgiving. This was back in 2009. We wanted to wait, but the tumor was pressing against her heart, stomach and esophagus. She was having trouble breathing, seriously elevated heart rate, was in a lot of pain, and wouldn't eat. We decided she had had enough. The breeder said we did the right thing....too many people wait too long to put their companions down, putting them thru needless suffering.
You are doing the right thing by Percy. We grieve with you.
Here's our late Tiffany Konishiki Bullman (registered name), aka "Tiffy." What a ball of energy she was! We love all our Bulldogs, but this one, our very first, will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Percy and the Tiffster will be waiting for us...
(((Hugs)))
Lita

Rose,
Percy will have a new playmate in my beloved Charcoal.
