Holy Cow, moving is a lot of work! It sure makes you vividly see that you need to get rid of stuff! Trucks unloaded Sunday and Monday and thankfully, my wonderful sister and brother-in-law are here from Oregon to help me....for 2 weeks. Patoo was here today to help with unpacking and visiting. No formal exercise for me except lugging boxes and bins, unpacking and trying to find homes for everything. We did take a break late this afternoon and went to see the movie, Bridge of Spies, with Tom Hanks. It was very good.

It wll probaby be another week before I am back to an exercise routine. I WILL get there.

Mysunshine all that unpacking and putting things in their new home is certainly exercise. Karen they are predicting our weather to change in Sunday as well, we've had some lovely sunny days this week. Reader hope your neck feels better.

Tonight did Grit Cardio, my instructor coached me through and gave me some great low option alternatives as my quads are very sore, didn't want to go but afterwards was glad I went.

Packing & unpacking is HARD work!

I am back from vacation. I did get in one last walk early yesterday morning. Yoga at 9am & then I need to buy groceries and get started on my 'things I need to do when I get back home' list!

I am sidelined in terms of physical activity except a little walking for 30 days at least. This past Tuesday, I made it safely through a second lumpectomy and oncoplastic surgery with a bi-lateral breast reduction and lift. I went from a size DD cup to a C cup. I cannot do any housework for 30 days. I cannot lift anything heavier than five pounds for 30 days. Having breast reduction by a plastic surgeon scheduled right after the lumpectomy allowed the cancer surgeon to take out as much tissue as she thought necessary to clear out the DCIS tumor and hopefully achieve clear margins with the knowledge that the plastic surgeon would follow behind to make everything pretty. Breast reduction surgery is very difficult, and it is considered the most potentially dangerous surgery a woman can have. I have surgical drains and incisions, and I am not allowed to bend over and pick something up from the floor if I drop it. The plastic surgeon said the surgery went perfectly. I was under general anesthesia for 4.5 hours. I cannot recall some things that took place befote the surgery as the drugs seemed to erase some of my short term memory.

So, I am MIA with the third 450 mile round trip in three weeks to the major comprehensive cancer care treatment center leaving on February 3 to see the breast surgeon for post op on February 4 and see the plastic surgeon for the second post op on February 5.

I will return as soon as I am cleared for vigorous physical activity.

Decision. . .Wishing you a full and rapid redovery. You will certainly need rest. Take it easy.

After a rather horrendous work week I am at the gym feeding my Fitbit. Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous but I have volunteered for a high school competition inside for half the day. The first warm dry weekend since I can remember. Just my luck.

Decision take the time to breath, you've been through a major surgery, wishing you a very speedy recovery, Congrats on your achievement Reader. Scottie good for you hitting the gym instead of the ice cream or chocolate shop (that's where I want to go after those horrible work weeks).

Last night went to a 75 minute girls versus boys Body Combat battle class, loads of trash talking, sweating and downright fun.

Thank you everybody for your kind words reminding me to take care of myself. I am fortunate that I had no surgical complications. I did not require any narcotic pain killers except one Norco that I took before leaving the hospital after surgery. And.I did not get constipated, lol.

I am excited with the prospect of vigorous exercise once I heal. The oncoplasy with a bi-lateral breast reduction and breast lift has improved my appearance, and I am now motivated to upgrade the rest of my body with diet and vigorous exercise.

Decision, also glad that your surgery is behind you. Rest for now. You will get back to exercise.

I did 1 1/2 hours of various pilates DVDs. I need to catch up on my toning after vacationing. I got my annual fitbit report and walked over 3 million steps last year, which equated to 1,360 miles. No wonder I am tired!!

Decision.....glad your surgery went well and you can start recovering. Rest and heal!

Still unpacking and organizing here. I did hang about 10 pictures today and took a walk.....not too strenuous, but things that need to be done. My sister and brother-in-law, here from Oregon to help me move last weekend, went to Animal KIngdom yesterday, Universal Studios today, and, I am taking a break and joining them to go to Epcot tomorrow, so I will have my fitbit on! They are leaving Tuesday. By then, after tackiing the garage (more organizing), I will be ready to start some of the many exercise classes offered here in The Villages. Patoo (Phyllis) is out of town right now, but I am sure she will be ready to go when she returns.

I was supposed to drive down to San Diego this morning to have lunch with the BCO group but when I woke up it was bucketing it down and the wind was blowing so I decided not to go as they say the storm is going to intensify this afternoon and I didn't fancy driving back up in traffic in the rain so called one of partners in crime and we went to a U Jam/Zumba 'battle' have you caught the theme going in this weekend at the 24 Hour gyms, it's 'battle' weekend and there were over 100 people in the room, danced for 90 minutes.

Came home and changed into my comfy Jammie's and I'm doing laundry and watching old DVR programs, the wind is howling and the rain is still coming down hard brrrrr

Decision. . .hope all is well and your recovery continues to be swift. Great attitude as you look forward.

Ruth. . .that is fantastic. I wish I could get 10K steps a day. I average on 7.5K and got my Fitbit in July so only 6mos of stats.

At the gym feeding the Fitbit. Had a really great experience evaluating the verHS comp. yesterday. Those kids are very dedicated for 15-16.

1/31- returning from a three day glorious yoga retreat in the NM mountains.

Photo taken in front of the fireplace at our retreat center. Nothing better than early morning meditation and yoga practice in front of a roaring fire.

Sounds great Scottie! I'm now in cozies on the couch, meatloaf in the oven and finished my Walking DVD. Relaxing as tomorrow I go to dad's assisted living place to stay a few days to help. Will get good walking in I think.

    Jazzy, looks very peaceful!

Hey, everybody, the plastic surgeon did clear me to walk. So, for the first time in a long while, I got dressed and walked down the street to take a tiny gift to a good friend that is not well. I am no longer hunched over since the breast reduction. I am going to talk with the breast surgeon about going to an inpatient rehabilitation facility after the breasts heal. I am fortunate so far that the doctors have not removed any lymph nodes. I need help to get strong and build muscle as the large, heavy breasts have been limiting my ability to get my body in shape for years. It is a fluke that the best solution for me to lower my risk of cancer turned out to be medically necessary breast reduction for cancer treatment and care. It would have nearly impossible for me to have had this reduction otherwise. So, I got a $10,000 boob job and breast lift along with breast cancer treatment! I do have some shooting pain today in the right breast. It has been traumatized.

It seems as if there are often two sides to things that happen to us. The plastic surgeon says I will eventually be able to wear jogging bras. So, on that day, maybe I will be able to start on having a new body that helps protect against breast cancer.

I slacked this week but finally got around to exercise today. I went for a 46 minute walk. Warm for January - rained today - but chilled now!

Jazzy that fire looks very inviting.

    Go Ruth go!

Jazzy- It looks cozy and relaxing there.

DF- Glad to hear your surgery went well. Being cleared to walk will help you feel better too. I hope you are recovering well.

Cheryl-I love Zumba! With 100 people it must be even more fun!

Twohobbies-Sometimes we need some slacking, you'll get motivated.

Scottie-Feeding the Fitbit is so motivating. Sometimes it does give me the push I need.

    Reader- Meatloaf sounds good.

Today was a beautiful day as it was in the high 70s here. I walked at the trail and rode my bike w/ DH. I got in 11k + steps on my Fitbit

I took a break from putting the house together today and went to Epcot with my sister and brother-in-law. Fitbit says over 12,000 steps and I am one tired girl! We were there 10 hours! Tomorow is a well-deserved rest day after going non-stop the past 8 days.

Six days post-crainontomy and I got in a 2.5 mile walk and a bunch of arm rehab today (my sx was on the right side of my brain so I have some weakness in my L arm). I made myself sort laundry with my left hand, pick up coins and page through magazines. I also showered and dressed myself and cut up my own steak (yum). I start OT tomorrow.

Not to brag, but I'm pretty happy with how far I've come

Decision- I am glad you are coming through some of what you need to do for your treatment. I started out with walking after my bs and another surgery. I moved to swimming and some easy yoga as I went along. Just take it easy as you ease back in to things. My body took the lead and told me how much or what worked. Listen to your body to know when you have had enough, when you need to rest. You are doing fine and it is just one day at a time through so much of this.

Brag away, BAU!! Would gaming with your left hand help? My daughter was telling me about a friend's dad who started gaming after a stroke.

Worked out at the gym with DD yesterday. Body Jam tonight.

Good job, BAU! If you take up gaming and win a fortune, you know who you should bring with for a sail on your newly purchased luxury yacht!

Yoga this morning, Zumba tonight, lots of errands in-between.

Another 2.5 mile walk and the Dex is certainly keeping me wired on those walks. Good thing too because I'm going to have about 15 pounds to drop after this...

Managed my usual activities like showering, buttoning up pants, packing husband's lunch and grocery shopping with my left hand.

OT is going to be 2-3 days a week. I'm excited to start. I can't believe I was in ICU with a doozy of a headache and that darned burning catheter just one week ago

I'm home. Had a great time at birthday party for 70 year old who I've known for 60+ years. Only exercise was a short walk with a friend Friday morning and dancing at the party Saturday evening. Lots of eating so need to get back to an exercise routine. May still take tomorrow off as I'm tired and have some 'domestic' stuff to take care of. Will see as I do feel lost when not exercising.

Someone a page or so back asked about Bone Builders. Here's a little blurb: http://www.bonebuilders.org/exercise.html

Here's a book on the program developed at Tufts University: http://growingstronger.nutrition.tufts.edu/growing...

    More info: http://growingstronger.nutrition.tufts.edu/exercis...

The program we follow here is based on the Tufts program but with modifications, adding more leg exercises and no floor work. On the computer it looks easy - it's not!

    Night sculpted friends.
