Blessings: I found an off label use for Rituxan for lupus nephritis. Seen patients getting it for lymphoma or leukemia, generally in combination with other chemo agents. Pre-med with Tylenol and Benadryl or other antihistamine. First infusion rate is 50 mg/hr and then can slowly increase as tolerated.

Evie is beautiful!! What a lovely picture.

You know that hand-bag that I ordered for my Daughter from "Michael Kors?" It came....!!!! Not the "real" thing, but I'm surprised it even came. They shut down the web-site... You know, I can't tell a knock-off from the real thing anyway.... so at least it came

Went to Costco today.... mostly for Janie, and we had lunch there.... always fun with her!

Sorry you guys are going through those treatments.... I remember reading about the "Red Devil"...... sorry........

    Hello back Peppermint!

Yeah, I miss Cammi too! I used to tease her un-mercifully..... but I couldn't help it.... It was so EASY! She IS on the drinking thread, and I have posted there, but it goes faster than this one....She is still "working".... if that's what you call it.... Her and that phone! Those 900 numbers can really wear a girl out.... Hah! And she was always in trouble with the government.... She wrote them thousands of letters, telling them what SHE thought, and WTH was wrong with them! I thought for sure they were going to lock her up..... Maybe that's where she IS????

I'm 4 pages behind and I have no excuse other than I went for a pedicure yesterday and my toes are so happy. Cold but happy. Nasty rainy day here. I got up, put my tea on and turned on the radar. Turned off the tea and went to feed the goats b4 it really moved in. Raise your hand if you're in for the Blizzard of All Time.

Today is National Hugging Day. Hugs to Susan and Loverly for their losses.

I have cassettes and record albums but no 8 tracks. We do have a turntable but haven't used it in ages. Bummer thing is my VHS recorder won't do timed recording anymore - we are not into DVR here. Main TV is an oldie and DH not replacing until it conks out.

My fav Glen Campbell video and song

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeYcjhQmSvc

Now I'm reading yesterday's post Patty. That is bone chilling cold. And Yay for snow day and time 1:1 with DS 1. And for another snow day today and probably tomorrow. DF's brother/SIL traveling to Ft Worth from Hot Springs. I sent message via friend to be careful and leave early.

Michaels has a huge collection of coloring books. I have a couple mine are more designs than pictures. I think I got mine at Half Price Books but I think Christmas just blew the socks off the coloring book business.

Welcome SusieM and JazzyJuneBug. We are chatty just jump in. And yes we are bad about jumping subject to subject.

Sassy - My little grocery even has fennel bulb out in the sticks here. No idea if it is fresh, never used it. Not fond of licorice though I know fennel seed is in most chai teas - all the rest of the stuff must disguise it. You are one brave woman to try bouillabaisse but you probably do have seafood connections there. You might be able to get pint bottle of Pernod that mine stores keep behind the counter - since they are too easy to pocket. When is the big day?

What kind of CocaCola glasses are we looking for? Going to county seat to file DH's 65+ tax exemption tomorrow. Lots of antique shops - depends on time and how brrr cold it will be. I know of one shop that's easy to get to that might have some. What's a good price?

Spring cleaning - I have to clean up. Might be that DD's "Friend" visits us in April. OMD - this house is a wreck.

    Belated Happy Birthday Glennie.

    Happy Early Anniversary Susan.

    Beautiful Evie Smaarty

Blessings - I don't know anything about Rituxan but golly gee it does seem to be used for a lot of conditions.

Susan - Is your daughter is the last trimester now?

Lilgoats! I LOVE Disney World! It has made so many people happy, and it is just magical to see it.... Since Sheri moved to Orlando we have been there about 5 times.... Same with Universal Studio's.

Some people ..... (Older ones) go there every day.... ! It just makes them happy.... The attractions, the people, everything about it is there just to make us happy! I know the commercial part of it.... but that land is used beautifully, and I like to believe that "Disney" has done everything possible to help Florida, AND California, and their foreign ventures!

Vegas is for grownups, and Disney is for everyone.....

Lilgoats, I previously sent Chevy a coke glass so she could drink her chocolate cokes from a bona-fide coke glass. This little 4 0z glass is just cute. It had Chevy's name on it. .Got it in a junk store. Junk stores are way more fun than thrift stores. The little coke glass and an American Brilliant Cut celery bowl 4$. ............10--50 cents is a good drinking glass price. 1.00 maybe, depends. Cobalt 2 bucks is a great price. Cobalt anything is always higher. I saw some the other day the same as mine. The church thrift wanted 7$ a glass. No way. But I'm cheap and patient. I have no problem waiting a few years for a set to be complete.

Stay safe. This crazy weather needs to go away. .............So, I've never cooked with a fennel bulb and the feathers(?). Most of the boullubaisse recipes had it. I finked out on the fresh fish which ALL the recipes say FRESH. I got frozen. Just couldn't think of not laying in the fixings at the last minute. Pernod-----I stopped at my liquor store tonight. 40$. Only large bottle, no pint size. Any suggestions? I might look at amazon. Amazon has everything. HMMMMmmmmmmWonder if it was Amazon and the like that caused the Walmart change?

Sassy I saw this earlier when looking for Pernod.

You might search "Chowhound". I found lots of links to Pernod in there some very complicated. The ones on Food52 looked not so bad. But then I've never had bouillabaisse or Pernod so wouldn't know what taste it aims for. Or if it is essential.

You could pop over the "What's for Dinner" thread. They for sure would know, some really accomplished cooks on there.

Niece in law collects milk glass. Since she was here last I found six cups. She came Monday from Oshawa Canada. Today found 3 of the snack plates. What's nice is the price is reasonably low she can find 3 more plates easily.

Loverly, Lot's available on the net. It's a snack set(hors deveurs), but could be used for beef aus jus. or regular sandwich & a cup of soup. Tea and cookies. Replacements.com has then for 7.99. I think I got the cup for a 1$ and the plates were 85 cents a piece. Oh yeah, the pattern. Harvest Grape by Colony. Parent company was Indiana glass, but IG never sold them under their brand. LOL, I learned all that tonight, but it took a while.

All clear for another year from the Gyn oncologist. Have to be follow yearly b/c of the problem created by the radioactive iodine. Gi guy is up next on feb 17th.

Looks like Deb was on the boards on the 19th, but hasn't posted since the 15th.

I like seeing the pictures of your thrift finds, Sas. I'm not much of dishes or glassware person, but it reminds me of stuff my Grandma and aunts had. Always a lovely trip down memory lane.

Testing is finally coming to a close at the school for the winter term. Things should be less crazy now. Loverly, you asked a while back if I teach; I actually am the technology person, not a Teacher. I'm involved with the testing because it is all computerized nowadays.

Ah, Susan, sorry about the steroids....They were sucky. The whole Judy thing had me confused for a minute. It doesn't take much...lol...

Sas, I like the milk glass. I have one candy dish, that was from MIL. I am trying to keep my collecting, buying unnecessary stuff to a minimum. After 2 moves in 2015, reality has set in, I don't need more stuff. But today, I thrifted this huge, darling container of "mr. Potato head pieces". Oh YA, I need that! My niece has a 2 year old & twins on the way....will have it at my house or take it to there's.

Why do new primary docs insist on reducing 10mg of Ambien to 5mg when the 10mg has proven to work best for cancer patients w/ insomnia?

This came up in our monthly group session. Anyone have some good research to support 10mg vs. 5mg.

Multiple group members are having a time of it w/o restful sleep now. Melatonin does not work for them. Depression and anxiety are starting to creep in to replace the sleep they cannot achieve w/o assistance.

Meditation, massage, sleep teas, light darkening window coverings, sound machines w/ many options, exercise are all part of the daily routine.

    Greatly appreciated.

    hellooooooooooo!

hope everyone in the path of these winter storms is ready and has heat!

I am going back a few pages to catch up here:

Back to Sas's Dove door video, I hope all of you ladies know that you are indeed beautiful! Inside and out! All fighters, all lovers, all sisters, moms, daughters. There is not a single one of us that isn't uniquely beautiful, even if we don't feel it all the time. I think it is important that we all realize we are beautiful, and that we should never be afraid or ashamed to say that we are. While it is not the most important thing in the world, it changes how we move through life, whether we like it or not. So stand tall and recognize your beauty, ladies! And never let anyone tell you any different!

Thank you all for the good thoughts. I know it will get better, but 2016 has started out rough, with so many of my favorite people dying, mostly from cancer. I tell you what, it triggers my anxiety. I had to turn off my home computer for a few days because I could not stop crying. Every time i turned it on, someone else I admired was gone. I went on a 7 brewery tour with my bff, then went to go see my Granny. She's 93, and until a few months ago was still on the ball. She fell around Thanksgiving, and has been kind of going down hill since. I fear I may lose her this year as well, so will be trying to see her as much as possible.

I found out something terrible : at 88, she had a mastectomy... that she did not need. The mamo showed a spot, the biopsy came back negative, they could not even really find the spot shown on the mamo, so just did the area, and instead of waiting to see what happened, they talked her into a mx, and guess what? zero cancer cells found. I had no idea. I've been telling all my drs she had BC as well. I can't believe they put her through that.

I have been aware of my mortality since I was a kid. I'm very accident prone, and have had several close calls in my life. It never gets easier.

For those looking for fun socks- check out sockdreams.com I spend way too much there, but they have the most fun tabis!

I am all about records, cassettes, vhs, reel to reel. Digital is good for some things, but I almost always prefer analog.

Sas- I looove saffron. i wish it were not so $$ but it only takes a tiny bit to make a dish. Would love to be at your dinner party, sounds like it will be very interesting. That dance video was so touching. Birdcage is still in my top 10 favorite movies. Makes me laugh so much every time! Condolences to those who knew Leah. colors- each room in my house is kind of different, and all my glass is different colors, so I would love it! thank you! you are so sweet <3 I am a HUGE fan of Dr. Love, and gift her book to everyone. She has Q&As on her facebook all the time. Besides BCO, her foundations are the only ones I give money to. Hooray for your all clear!!!

Susan, You hubbie sounds super sweet- no wonder you made it to 34 years! Happy anniversary! Very sorry about your friend. It is so hard to lose anyone, but seems to hit too close to home when they are near our age. Sorry you've got the 'oid rage- i miss the energy that came with them though.

Zil, your 3 year old sounds fun- i still use any excuse i can to wear mismatched everything :) Hope your chemo is being gentle with you.

PattyP! I am glad to be back in such great company. I do like your idea of a protest though. and hope you and hubbie are staying warm under the covers ;) You are so right, men are the WORST when they are sick. Stubborn, then like babies. I only do some kinds of leftovers. Like, pasta or rice dishes, or soups, or things that are cold already. I have texture issues, so, most things just don't appeal to me if they are not fresh. I am sorry you caught the bug! I love coloring. So glad that there are more coloring books for grown ups right now.

SC60- I am late, but welcome to the insanity!

FeelingFeline- I hope you feel beautiful, especially after treatment. I like that there is a push to get people to learn CPR etc. It is a great skill to have, and you just never know when you will be the one needing that help.

Chevy- Hope you are staying warm! Really glad DH's surgery went well, even if he is being a pain. I'm going to invite myself over for some good home cookin' at your place! I'm with you on how you eat- i do the same. I think my palette gets bored so I have to mix it up. Be sure to call your credit card co about that handbag so you can get it removed and they can watch your credit activity. I still have all my cassettes. Drive my DBF nuts, but i refuse to get rid of them. My MG has a cassette player, and I am going to enjoy it. I have so many mixed tapes from friends and old boyfriends- i love it!

Spookie- love that photo of Chev at the gym! I don't blame you at all for not letting the family come visit when they are ill, especially that kind of ill! Spookie is just so cute- and loves to pose!

Smaarty- oh Evie is just so sweet. Glad she got to go home and is doing well. Precious! Will never get tired of seeing babies! and great news about DGS getting his new leg. My mom lost her leg about 7 years ago. I tried so hard to convince her to let us carve her a beautiful peg, but she said no. She doesn't use the fancy one she ended up with, and she's kind of just given up. I hope your DGS keeps his determination and lives life to the fullest. Personally, if i ever lose a leg or arm, I am going full pirate.

KathinDC- sending you warm thoughts with the coming storm! I'm with you- I rarely wear makeup anymore, as I work from home. Shoot, I hardly put anything besides yoga pants and big tee shirts on anymore. I do wear tabi socks al the time though! because i wear flipflops year round. My feet hate being trapped in shoes. it has to get close to freezing before the socks go on though.

Nettie- so glad to see you here! and sending you good vibes to help with life

    EeyoreO7- I love your attitude!

Deb- not sure where you are but it sounds coooold! Glad your surgery went well.

Goats- how has the weather been treating you? nice to get into town every once and a while to see friends

Lover- hey hey! glad your DH was feeling you up that day! however the lumps are found, that really has to be the best way :D but be sure to get the other side looked at asap. and OMG- how scary about your badminton partner!

Wrenn, glad to hear your cat. surgery went well. Interesting that they game you a sleeping pill. I've never heard of that.

Blessings- I am with your and your DH on being privately sick. Just leave a glass of water at the door and go. And I can't be around anyone getting sick either, I end up gagging. No way could I have been a mom! Never heard of Rituxan. I hope his treatment goes smoothly.

Jazzy- congrats on your new contract! Glad you found someone to care for your feet. When you find a good service provider- you never want to lose them! Thanks for letting us know about Cami. I've been wondering about her.

Cubbie- Gld to see my grandparents were not the only ones with indoor toilets :)

Glennie- That stinks about your TV. Sometimes you just get the lemon, always better to trade it out. and HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!

Teka- hope you are doing well!

Solfeo- welcome! glad you can join our madness!

Meow13- if my cats has their way, they'd each have their own king-size bed. And then would still just come sleep on me..

HoleInOne- omg- those fobs are a nightmare. We had a Volvo, needed a new one, they wanted $900 for it. I told them where to stick it and we made do with just one. Never again. Your road trip sounds awesome- can't wait to see photos!

Split-bean- 8 tracks were the best!

SusieM49- welcome! it is a busy thread, I get behind all the time, but these ladies are a hoot! and don't you believe Lover for a minute! she's the craziest one out of the bunch! I have friends in the Waverly area. One of these days I will get up there. I had A&C/T for my chemo. I am happy to help you any way I can. Feel free to PM me.

JazzyJune- welcome to you as well! I love dixieland and swing jazz, really anything but contemporary soft jazz.

YogaGirl- you've got me- i never understand what they do that kind of thing for. We just want to sleep!

Ok- I think I caught up- mostly.

Hope you ladies have a great night, and that we hear from everyone soon.

JWoo- I have been hearing far too many stories about people who are being treated for cancer who never had it. I had a gyn years ago who kept telling me I needed a hysterectomy because I might have some cancer in that area. Some laproscopic surgery suggested fibroids and no cancer, and he continued to push. I changed doctors. Some doctors just want to cut.

To put an elderly woman through that kind of surgery sounds like complete medical fraud. I think your family has grounds for a lawsuit. Missing stuff is one thing, outright deception is a whole other story. Whoever did that should loose their medical license. My two cents on the whole thing.

I hope you can have some nice visits with your grandmother this year.
