Mags - I've seen some youtubes from a storm chaser up there. Read you're in for more tonight. Poor trees. We drove thru NE Texas in early summer 2001 after they'd had a devastating ice storm that winter. Soo glad you've still got electricity. Getting tweets about how many don't have any.

In case anybody remembers, that chair in Sas's living room with the bent arms is the one that made her crazy. Trying to get it refinished in Tampa. And she really does leave the tree and decorations up year round.

Rose, thanks for the Christmas music suggestions, I'll check those out.

Mags, I LOL'ed at the coffee joke. That's a shame about the trees. The ice is so beautiful, but is so destructive.

Sas, I have a kitchen clock that is 50 years old and has outlived multiple clock movements. They are actually pretty easy to replace. You can also buy new separate hands if you want ones that are fancier or larger than the ones that come with the clock movement kit. I just get mine at the craft store. There's probably a better selection online.

Ok, Christmas music. I'm partial to very old stuff - like 12th - 15th century. Here's one. You can listen to cuts from it

Mags.... Sorry about that icy weather! We have those here sometimes... where ice covers just everything! I have these wire stretch things that fit over my crocs! They really help if you have to get out in the yard... No good for driving with, but you can keep a pair in your car, if you have to get out.....

Pretty trees gals! I'll have to bring my little trees down from upstairs!

My Dad made a few embroidered clocks! I have 2 of them now.... And you can buy just the hands & clock workings to replace them!

I found the exact clock I have above my desk!!!

same ole thing. Uncontrollable vomiting and diahrea , very dehydrated , running fever. My wbc wasso low last week that mo had me stop my Ibrance and stay home away from people to prevent being sick. Mo tried to talk me into going to the hospital a couple days for IV antibiotics. I didn't agree. Stayed home. Then got sick anyway. :-( guess I should have listening.

PEPPERMINT! Right now that is the best place for you......... I know we just want to go HOME, but too many things happen, and we can't monster ourselves like they can in the Hospital!...... So just relax, and order everything on the menu! I did that one time when my Daughter was coming, and we ate EVERYthing! I called the kitchen to order, and they even made me a chocolate coke!

Janie took a picture this morning of her best friend "Rudy"... She feeds them peanuts....

Patty- I hope you feel better. Last Tuesday when I was in seeing the NP she brought up taking Ibrance. I have an unopened bottle of it. Once I found out my markers flipped from Her2- to Her2+ I didn't take it. The NP thought I might take Ibrance now. I am 100% ER+. I told her I didn't want to because Ibrance can drop your immune system and now that I have a pleurx catheter for ascites, it puts me at risk for peritonitis and then they would most likely pull the catheter. The thought of going back to paracentesis once a month instead of draining every 3 days.. nope no way. It seems Ibrance can drop your counts and it's a common occurance with that drug. At least your bone pain is better and you are up and doing things, so the Ibrance must be working against the cancer! I hope they can jump start you and get you home. Extra prayers your way.

It was 26 degrees this morning. Brilliantly sunny this past week and today. Next week is supposed to be rainy and warmer.. bummer. I will miss the sun but we need the rain in the mountains. Snow pack is our water supply. Right now all the big mountains have lots of snow. It's wonderful to see them shinning white against a blue sky!

Working on looking stuff up. This is the caned chair. They are still being made today. They originally were presented by Marcell Breuer from the House of Bauhaus at the 1929 World Fair. It was the advent of tubular steel being used in furniture.

In the early 80's a friend gave me two of these chairs. I had no place for them and they were to modern for my taste then. They were designed by Breuer in the middle 1920's It's known as the Wassily or Kadinsky chair. They can be very pricey i.e. several thousand, where as the cantilevered chair can be found for 50-150$. I gave the Kadinsky chairs away.

Patty, hope they get you back on your feet quick.

    Rose, feeling better? Moving easier?

    Where's Susan?

Have to go shopping today. Cold here, I know Chevy, it's relative. Need to go buy a new thermostat. The new one they put in has no time zones so it's running or not. Not able to adjust it much. PITA.

    Be careful out there

Smarrty, Donnie's an HVAC guy. Maybe he can help with the thermostat. Post the name and the model number. Plus, the manufacture probably has a help desk. My new 3 speed pool pump that was using energy like crazy, I ended up calling the manufacturer. They walked me through how to program it. Turns out the service guy was totally clueless about how to set it. Now my energy savings are major. I'm such a nerd, I check my energy use daily. That's why I knew something was wrong.

Sassy- my first dining room set back in the 1980s included some of those wicker chairs you posted above. I had those with me until about 10 years ago when I ended up with my mother dining room table and donated them to a shelter here in town. I LOVED those chairs!

Going to meet friends for adult beverages and then a free jazz concert. The last of the Thanksgiving weekend fun.

I'm just popping in to say hi to everyone after a week of being out! Had my knee lipo and they put that fat in my face and boy, am I miserable. I'm certifiably nuts. Chit. I look like Miss Piggy on steroids but I sure have pretty knees. Got for my one week check up tomorrow and glad I'm getting through the miserable stage. Sure wish these lips would go down. They are killing me. And I still have one more eye surgery to do. I don't know why I thought I should do all this this fall. Need better crazy pills I think. Anyway, haven't felt like reading and my face hurt so didn't. Hope everyone is okay and had a good Thanksgiving. Will catch up now!

Patty, I'm sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. I hope they can get you sorted out and back home quickly.

Chevy, it looks like Rudy has eaten a lot of peanuts!

Sas, when I was a kid, my best friend's house had those same caned chairs in their kitchen. Were the Kadinsky chairs as uncomfortable as they look?

Jazzy, have fun at your concert!

Mema, good to see you, hope your face feels better soon.

Sassy, We had those chairs and were able to order new seats and backs. They were easy to replace.

Love seeing all the trees. Ours is artificial. I always cried about the ones that were cut down but not chosen. I felt so sorry for them. Luckily I never had the room to take them all home. DH was OK with the artificial tree because it came with lights already on it. My book club is meeting at my house on the 12th and I'm trying to decide whether to decorate before or after. I have a lot of other things that need doing before the meeting.

We went to see DS & family in Oregon for Thanksgiving. I've been reading for hours trying to get caught up. It was sunny but quite cold. We went up to a sno park and there was enough snow for sledding (provided you only wanted 3/4 inch. The boys and DS enjoyed it. There was a teen visiting from Calif who had never seen snow before. He was convinced to try one of the inner tubes and his family filmed the look of terror on his face when he realized how fast it was going. Traffic returning on Sat. was horrible and it took an extra hour to get home. I think we're staying here for Christmas.

Just cut our tree down today. Yeahhhhh. Last year I was to sick to go, hubby did it by himself. Went together today....we don't agree on tree shape. He prob had more fun last year...lol

We had a great thanksgiving, very small group for us, but much less work and lots and lots of laughs. The egr(extra grace required) people didn't show up :)

Hoping for a repeat for Christmas.

Wow is it cold. DH drove us to the bird sanctuary and most of the ponds were frozen! We saw 2 large greatblue herons, kestrals, hawks and ducks. We have a spotting scope and binoculars.. nice to watch the herons preen themselves in the sunshine. None of our animals want to be outside.. too cold. Wren I know what you mean about the trees not chosen. I feel the same about seeing them lined up on xmas eve. Wish at that point they would give them away. Some of those snow parks have some wicked fast runs! Fun to watch the kids scream and yell. I haven't done that in years... used to when the kids were little. Smarty- I am sore but up and moving. Stiff as a new shoe in the morning..and very patriotic red white and blue.

Sassy I bet you are sorry you gave away the Kandinsky chairs.. ching$$. I remember when we took our solid teak Danish modern chairs and table/chairs down to the Assistance League for consignment. The older gal said well I don't know about whether we will take these. I stared and said they will be gone in less than a week. The woman sarcastically said "doubt that." (Clearly she was no fan of modern) I laughed when the entire lot was gone in 24 hours. They went in on Thursday and got sold Friday.. The woman said to me.."oh you were right they went super fast." After 25 years I was sick of Danish modern and wanted back to colonial and shaker. Real solid teak they don't make anymore and collectors will jump. We had found a solid colonial cherry table and chairs and hutch on Craigs List and pretty much drooled. After some negotiations we got it. I spent 300.00 to have the top of the table refinshed professionally (there was some sun damage) and it is just lovely. Love the fact we can extend the table 2 leaves.. nice. The wood is just gorgeous.

Mema4 you are brave to have cosmetic surgery... sounds painful. I hope the misery is worth it. After the lovely effects of Aromatase inhibitors sucking out all the estrogen I have, I would love to have chin hairs permanently removed... but I am too cheap and to afraid of pain to do it. :-)

Rose- I have started going to the local nail salon to get "defurred" every few months. I used to just do my brows, but now they suggest I need the lip too, but also saw I have a pretty nice peach fuzz beard thing going on too! In Sept before I went to the family wedding, I had them wax my entire face. It lasted a good couple months and was smooth as a baby's butt, but then noticed it is coming back now. I will be going in for some holiday nails and a holiday defurring in December!
