Eww, Mag. I guess GMO relatively is better.

Eeyore and Teka, always nice to see you popping in.

Mag, I thought I have a big family. I had to look closely at your family pic to make sure that was not a reflection from the wall mirror.

Ms. CHEVY, no good about your partial. I'm sorry. So, do you have Angelina Jolie's lips now?

Oh shoot! We forgot about Mommmy's birthday. It was yesterday.

Hope everyone had a safe and sane holiday. Not everyone has thanksgiving, but hope you enjoyed your Thursday.

I worked on a quilt today, last one for Christmas. I could have gotten it done this weekend, but ran out of one of the fabrics. Ordered something else that will work and just need to wait for the mailman.

    Happy birthday, Mommy!

    Happy birthday, Mommy!

Teka, that is what Thanksgiving dinner was like for us today. People complain about cooking, but I think the worst part is putting away all the leftovers and doing all the dishes. We saved the pie for last, so we'd have a reward for the cleanup.

Spookie, the dogs here were on high alert today also. They may have had a bite or two of turkey passed to them, but you didn't hear that from me.

Loverly, I like the Peanuts Thanksgiving. I never saw that one before. I can believe a turkey chased you, the ones around here can be pretty mean. We gotta eat them before they eat us!

Goats, I can't decide if that is an owl disguised as a turkey, or a turkey disguised as an owl.

Mags, that is a huge gathering. My family used to do those big get togethers before I was born, but I've never been to one that had more than 8 people.

Eeyore, I like your Peanuts cartoon.

Chevy, I have never heard of anyone being allergic to plastic. It would just figure, wouldn't it? I hope you can build up a tolerance to it.

Smaarty, our snow is gone, and it has been raining all day instead.

Cubbie, we did that every year for thanksgiving and Christmas, every once in a while at my sister's house but mostly at mine since I always had more room. I think our largest was 30 in that house. But everyone has migrated to other places and now it's just us three... To eat all that food... Anyone have leftovers?

Chevy I wore soft contact lenses for years then developed an allergic reaction to the polymere they made the lenses out of. My eyes turned into red pieces of meat and under the lids it looked like cobble stones.. the opthamologist had to peel off the lenses. He was adamant not to use them again. I was so bummed since I could see better. But back to glasses and bifocals etc.. Oh well at least I can see.

Loved all the shared pictures. Happy Birthday Mom of 2.

Hope ya'll had a lovely Thanksgiving! We did. All the family here and DD2's boyfriend. We had 2/3 of everything vegan. Yum. Found this recipe on a site called Holy Cow Vegan for a carmel pecan apple cake. DH made it and it was fantastic, crazy moist and delicious. You would never think it was vegan. Wow everyone loved it and went back for seconds. Honestly I didn't miss turkey! Played Uno and SkipBo with the kids and yacked, took a short walk with the dogs. Nice to be together, even if we don't like to do the dishes. Actually I dont mind the dishes. It was sunny and cold and lovely.

Off to find the annual xmas tree tomorrow and bring it in all fresh smelling and lovely. They grow xmas trees like corn here and they are gorgeous and smell sooo good. Be well. Be warm.

    Good morning ladies!

It sounds like everyone survived the holiday. I had a nice down day yesterday, made myself some turkey and few fixings, watched some movies, started on my Xmas cards last night. Today I have some home and biz things to do, but plan to get to the gym today and hope to walk outside if the weather permits (storm moving in). No black Friday shopping for me!

Mags- Yes, I do have some leftovers! Going to make some turkey noodle soup in the crock pot end of the weekend too! Oh and I love the "turkey disposal" pic and sharing that around with a few others. LOL!

Cubbie- there were people complaining about the cooking at your family dinner? Wow. The clean up for a group is always such a huge chore.

Blondie- how was your Thanksgiving girlfriend?

Rosevalley- sounds like you found a good web site to create a mostly vegan holiday experience. I have some friends who are vegan and came to a Thanksgiving holiday once long ago (and did not know they had made that change), so needless to say it was a difficult experience. They actually now live here, moved to my city 6 months ago, and we go out to eat periodically and have figured out to have a good dining experience together by choosing ahead something that will work. That dessert sounded absolutely yumm!

I hope everyone continues to enjoy their holiday weekend. Hugs to anyone working Black Friday or working today period. Be safe out there folks!

Morning gals! So fun yesterday..... but I couldn't sleep very well last night. Must have been all the excitement, or eating a little more than we usually do, Ha!

Sass, is that your counter-top? And Loverly, you too? Mine didn't look like that when they were put IN! Or maybe I just have too much "stuff?"

Those are beautiful anyway.... Maybe I will see if I can find a "place" for things I have on the tops!

When they built this house in 1886, there was no such thing as marble countertops... just wood & linoleum... I DID have another one put in but it was a laminate wood-grain, which is showing wear...

And my cupboards are just plain wood, which I have diligently painted several times over the years!

I even put different linoleum down one time... THEN I got those hard tiles, and laid THEM in! THOSE work much better. I could build another whole house, by just taking off layers....... HaaaaahHaaaaaaaah! Same with the walls!

Someone is 40? I have SHOES older than that? Along with my nylons and panty-hose.... and it was "Mom's" birthday? Happy BIRTHDAY you young whipper-snapper!

Yes... my fat lip.... But I put that partial in last night, put this cream mixture on my lip, that I make... & slept with them in.... I got up and rinsed my mouth with warm salt-water, and took them out.... so far so good! My lip doesn't get those "hot pins" in it, or itches!

I think the problem is that assuming I AM allergic to the Acrylic Resin, I will slowly break them in... and not eat with them yet, because you lick your lips when you eat! So if my tongue isn't in contact with them, like at night, my mouth and tongue will soon forget about the foreigner in there!

Same with getting used to my hearing-aid tubing... And forGET about wearing the prescription sunglasses... with that "plastic" stuff.

    This is my "sun-room"...

    image

    Well, I WISH it was...

Love your picture Miss Smarty-pants! YES.... it is still snowing here... maybe about 8 inches ... but it is not fun.... Just glad we can stay IN........Have to go feed the Chickens and neighbor Cat later.. But at least they can stay "in" and stay sort of cozy...

Those neighbors finally put the light up above their nesting area, so that's where the girls stay.... They come pounding down their ramp when I take them their treats... but no eggs...Oh well.... the stores still sell them.

Cubbie... yes.... some people will find things they are allergic to.... I've KNOWN this, but didn't think about it.... also my upper plate was never a problem.... just this new modern stuff I think.....

I can't ever be around paint-stripper, bug-spray, and especially any form of epoxy! The fumes from all those will send me to the ER.... And then that Hot-Spot spray for dogs, AND tapes... but I can use paper-tape....

My Daughter's cat is another one..... SOME cats I can pet.... but not that one.... I even got allergic to my FISH! My arm would break out in welts when I would clean their tank!

Rosie! NNnnnnoooooooooooooo! Not you too! That is even worse! Are you allergic to different types of rubber or vinyl? Like in rubber gloves? They use this one chemical when they "vulcanize" rubber, and it is also in some Pet sprays... That is a bad one..... Glad you have an alternative! What about those implants for cataracts? That is also a type of plastic!!

Glad you had a nice dinner together.... We did too!

I forGOT to put the Green-bean casserole on the table!!!!! Can you believe it? Last year it was the cranberries! But they all ate some anyway.... like for dessert.... Hah!

It's 5 degrees out! Still snowing! This is not fun..... wind-chill is minus 7.

Oh well.... Spring is only 4 months away........

Spookers.... It warmed up to 15.... snowing a little... Just really COLD out!

Hah.... wouldn't want to travel anywhere in this weather.... I just love "home" too much.... I'm altering a pretty sweater right now. See, Matt, Janie's friend, cleans out houses, after they sell, and gets to keep everything that is left there.... He brings us all beautiful "stuff"....

Sweaters, new silk blouses, just EVERYthing... He sells a lot on e-bay, and has a shop in a second hand place...

    Okay.... back to doing nothing....

OK Spookie we need a report of the temperature in Florida. It is pouring buckets of rain here and the temp is 39. No icing predicted though. PTL for something.

Loverly, Sassy - I only wish my counters looked like that. I still have dirty dishes in the sink which is about to get tackled. I washed so many clothes yest. I was afraid to run the dishwasher - I baby my septic system in this kind of rain. But it will get run in a bit.

Cute goats Jazzy. Love the blue eyes. Don't have any in my herd. Only in NM is Santa made of tumbleweeds.

    Happy belated Birthday Mommy.

Mags, I love the turkey disposal! You could put a dog in there, too. Or me.

Rose, glad to hear your thanksgiving went so well. Enjoy your Christmas tree shopping. I've never had a real tree. We still have the same artificial tree my parents bought in 1976. It sheds almost as much as a real tree, and looks like something Charlie Brown would bring home, but it is a tradition.

Jazzy, are those tumbleweeds in that snowman? We didn't have complaining about cooking on Thanksgiving, we were just grumbling about the cleanup. I think that is the worst part of a holiday meal, particularly when gravy is involved.

Chevy, those giant flowers are a little scary. If you decide to decorate this way, make them a bit smaller, OK? Rose's story about the contact lenses reminds me that I am allergic to eye shadow. It makes the whites of my eyes turn bright red. Since my eyes are green, the effect is really bizarre. It took me and my opthamologist a while to figure out what was going on.

Cubbie- yes, the snow man is made of an accumulation of tumbleweeds. With the winds today, I hear some are accumulating around town!

Dishes are no fun. My favorite story about Thanksgiving dishes story is a friend who hosted a party about 5 years ago and invited several of us and some other friends we did not know, but they all in turn invited 2-3 people each LAST MINUTE. Everybody bailed after dinner was done, and left to go do other things. I stayed and helped the hostess who had no dishwasher do dishes by hand for hours.

    People are a trip!

Dang it's cold here today, it has felt like it might snow but nothing yet. Cold and wind.

Cubbie as a lover of trees it nearly made me cry to cut a healthy tree for xmas. That was when we first moved to Oregon. Then I started t realize it's a huge industry here and they grow them by the million acres. Farmers living depend on these trees. So dutifully we went out to a neighboring farm and trudged down the isles under cold sunny skies and chose a gorgeous noble fir. It's in the familyroom smelling deliciously fresh. The farmers gave the kids hot chocolate and apple cider. Now cutting a fresh tree and getting muddy shoes is a tradition.

We just came back from taking the dogs for a short walk. I tripped on a raised utility grate and hit the cement like the xmas tree we cut. I am typing this with one hand as my left wrist is wildly sore. Scrapped both palms and the top of my right foot cause my shoe came off. All my weight hit my right knee which is already swollen black and blue. Considering the radiation I just had, I am lucky I didn't break my hip. Oy DH was freaked.. can you get up??? I am going to be so sore tomorrow.. there goes the weekend. My balance and strength just isn't what it used to be. I have to give up walking the dogs.. they pull.

78 degrees sounds nice. It's sunny here but the temps are in the 20s at night and 45 during theday.

Oh, no, Rose! Are you sure you don't need to go get checked at urgent care? It would probably be best to leave the dogs at home when walking - or get someone else to walk them with you.

I'm not sure why my parents gave up on fresh trees. It may have been the needles and the watering. I know my Dad complained about how much we spent on the artificial tree, but I'd say we got his money's worth out of it!

Jazzy, those were some rude guests!

Rose- I am glad you got out today for a walk, but sorry about your fall. I know your bones are more fragile these days. I worry too if I fall I will break something. I hope you can ice the sore wrist and feel better. Heat and ice are good for sore things.

Cubbie- the funny/not funny part of that story was being asked at the end of the evening if I would host Thanksgiving the following year? I said I could not commit to something so early, but had no interest in having people over after I saw that. The gal that hosted it popped in the following summer asking if anyone was hosting Thanksgiving? My mother was very ill then, and said I was not going to be in town. In fact, the Thanksgiving that following year was our last holiday together (happy memories). No one in that group stays in touch anymore. That Thanksgiving blow out ended that tradition with those friends!

Rose, so sorry to hear of your fall. If you can, take some ibuprofen for the inflammation and ice down your wrist and knee.

Jazzy, with friends like that, who needs enemies. Luckily they showed their true colors.

Gave up on Christmas trees when the kids flew the nest. Two are local but I got tired of hubby's bah humbug attitude. Just took the fun out of it for me. Kids would always help decorating but I ended up taking it down by myself. Then I found out I am allergic to trees - that explained all those "colds" I got over the holiday.
