    Jazzy, that's cold. Is it common to have temp drop to 27 where you live in NM this time of the year?

    Ms. Sas, hopefully you can sleep off the headache. I don't remember getting one when they scan me for the osteoma, but there are reports of people complaining of headache afterwards.

    Ms. Spookie, sounds like androgen deprivation therapy. Lupron came to mind, but there are a few anti androgen injections out there. It is not chemo. It's chemical castration.

    Hi MamaRay, where did you go on your cruise ? I usually need a few days break after my vacation before going back to work. Are you almost done with your RT?

    Susan, we know you are wiser than not to say anything. I kind of understand the need for breathing room. Hoping it's just your body trying to fight an infection.

    We turned our heater on 2 days ago. Low got into the high 30's.

    there is a 6 month Lupron,, so that would be my guess too. Hot flashes are a really common SE. It also comes as a monthly injection,,, just saying,, maybe try the monthly first,, see how he tolerates it.

    Hi ladies- I went to an interesting presentation today on Cuba with a group that may be going next March. My sister and I are trying to decide if we are going or not on this trip. Cuba looks like a total time warp, I think it would be way cool to go soon before it all changes. We will have to decide soon, and/or may also choose a different group tour experience too. Jazzygirl would have a Latin jazzy good time if she went!

    Loveroflife- mid to northern NM is mostly high desert and a large plateau that increases in elevation from south to north. As you drive from southern NM where it is low desert (more like Tucson or Phoenix), then find yourself around 5000 plus feet middle of the state where I live, then you are more into alpine (7000-8000 feet) up north around Taos and up to the CO border. Mountain elevations are much higher. As a result, we get seasons here and do get snow and cold from central NM on north. So temps like this can be felt anywhere between Nov to March. It often has a cold snap like this around early Nov. For some reason,it seems colder to me? More sensitive to temp extremes these days. It's hard getting old!

    Do any of you know the actor, Chris O'Dowd? He is an Irish actor whom was in the movie Bridesmaids (super funny if you have not seen it), and has been in a bunch of HBO series movies. I really like him and think he is cute, and there is the guy I saw in town this summer who is the spitting image of him. A bit taller and huskier, but the same face. Anyways, today I saw him at Whole Food again.

    I know what you are thinking, did she make a move? He is probably a good 20 years younger than me, so no. Younger is good, decades younger is a bit much. Eye candy.

    Well at least I notice!

    thanks to all who replied to my post yesterday. My insurance is Aetna PPO. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 the oncologist ran a Petscan and found a tumor on my liver. A team of 10 doctors on the tumor board said because of location deep central within liver the tumor could not be biopsied. I was referred to cancer doc specializing in liver cancer. He said he would run blood tests and scans and watch for changes. Now that breast cancer treatment has ended and I don't take Arimidex he wanted to scan more often to see if it was Arimidex that kept it from growing. But now Aetna says no more liver scans only blood work. Doc appealed 3 times but Aetna says no. I will be calling Aetna myself next week to see what I can do

    NM is wonderful at night! One of my fav memories is sitting out at night in winter all wrapped up. We were up at a resort called Ten Thousand Waves and it was like you could touch the stars. So cold it was crisp! Love that area. Jazz, I'd take that trip to Cuba! I'm just worried they won't have enough hotels!

    glennie, with you on that hate. Will they pay something? Mine will pay part of a pet, I have to pay the rest if I want one. This is how much they make sense...they will pay to run test, not to read test. Who writes these rules??

    What scares me is Aetna bought Humana. Had them many years, even while working. Had a few problems, but I still hate them. Supposedly they won't cover my insulin pump after next Oct. I don't know what I'm going to do. Die? I don't know how to do MDI, don't want to learn.

    Pawpaw, it's sad that insurance company is able to dictate how doctors should take care of their patients. I understand the need to be cost effective, but at the patient's expense? Seems criminal. Need to be persistent in appealing and hope that the prior authorization request falls in the right hands. I'm sorry for your stress

    Hi all, in sunny Fresno this weekend, helping friend teach a class for 2 days. Her last class for awhile.

    Chevy, had risotto last night. We alway put protein and veggies in it. Last night was shrimp. Alway good, only get it when I go to my friends house.

    LilPaws... Did anyone say anything about "Carcinoid" ??? A relative in DH's family has "Carcinoid Syndrome"... His liver was involved......

    Anyway he found this out about 10 years ago..and something you said, made me think of this...He has been treated successfully for about 10 years now.... and doing okay! Sorry about the Insurance problems... hope you get some answers!

    Went to see that feisty little Theresa yesterday.... What a fun visit! We stayed for about an hour, then her room-mate came back from having her nails done, and we left.....but we laughed, and talked, and it was like 2 weeks just GONE from her life...... She doesn't remember anything... So it was fun just picking up from where we left off!

    Only 27 degrees out! You know, I just can't go outdoors anymore and fool around out in the yard!

    Got up early because DH had to RUN to the bathroom... I SWEAR if it isn't ONE thing, it's the OTHER! If he would eat right, meaning any form of fruits or vegetables, or limit his snacks and sweets to a minimum, it might HELP! But it's like his insides don't work by themselves anymore, or I mean like they should... So he takes this for one thing, then something else for the other!

    No matter what I cook, or say, it's always "I can't eat that, or that bothers my stomach, or that doesn't agree with me" So I just go ahead and fix what he will eat... meaning hot-dogs, or hamburgers with fries (the frozen ones) Once in awhile a 1/2 of a baked sweet-potato... No CHEESE for dogs sakes! No milk products, unless it's 1/2 C in his cereal.... He loves BREAD & pies & cup-cakes, pretzels, cookies, chips and I just give up. Your body just won't work right, when your diet doesn't include fruits or vegetables... "can't eat corn".... Maybe 3 grapes, or a small piece of watermelon... No other fruits... Maybe 1/2 a banana every other day....

    Yes he has lost weight... drinks lots of water, along with maybe 3 beers a day...but can't do anything about it... I cook good stuff... but I have given up trying to help... Older men will not listen to anyone telling them what they should be doing or eating.

    To all who offered sympathies re: my post MRI pain. Still going on, but changing. Feels similar to the way my head felt after craniotomy. Always sumpin.

    Hi HI1, yes, I found a retro chair. Tried to find it on the internet, but wasn't able to locate an exact piece. I did however find what it's class is, "slipper chair". Always have seen them, didn't ever think it a particular class." Definition of SLIPPER CHAIR. : an armless upholstered chair with short legs.". The legs are shorter than a dining room table chair. Originally used in the boudoir as a women's dressing chair. Then later into other rooms when crinolins were common. Now used when a regular chair is too big for a space. Hope DS likes it. :), but kind of prepared for him to NOT like it. How's the new house? Shoulder? DH's problem? DS & DD?

    Paws, In 1996 when insurance wasn't going to cover my hyster and BSO I said " just enter into the record, that my physician has recommended this procedure b/c my identical twin has ER+ BC, if I show up with ER+ BC after Wed, you are responsible for failure to follow your (network) physician recommendations". It worked, coverage was approved the next day. In your appeal, put in a variation of that statement.....................

    Following a different thought. An unknown origin of a tumor was it metastatic or primary? Primary liver tumors aren't controlled by tamox or AI's or Herceptin. Metastatic BC tumors are (can be). In this situation all your docs can't definitively say what the origin of the tumor is. Don't want to make you crazy, sorry if this does. If the tamox has kept the tumor from growing and the tumor grows after being off Tamox, they're is no absolute answer that the reintroduction of the drug will control the tumor growth. Hate to bring that up, but it should be considered by you & your docs determination of discontinuation. Analogy once the barn door is open, can it be closed?

    Ms. Sas, I wonder if the pain is as a result of a shift in fluid caused by strong magnets used in MRI. You know that the body is made up of approximately 60-70% of fluid. Same concept with the high and low tide caused by the moon influence on the earth's magnetic fields. If that is the case, then would increasing in fluid help with the headache?

    Glennie, yeah, I have seen the injustice too. I used to work with the medically indigents and every so often I sawvets and self-employed people fell through the cracks...very very sad
