love the picture Tomboy
-
Butch is lovely - so zen!
-
Butch is a handsome boy.
Kjones, I got a chuckle out of that meme. We have a feral colony in my neighborhood. There are at least five of us who feed them. I've had them come running when they hear my front door open or when I would come home in our old car. One even "stands guard" on my porch and has growled at strangers!
-
Great picture Tomboy!
What a lovely youthful Butch!
Jackbirdie - cats sleep with their hearing still at high alert for sure.
-
18 day old kitten; posted this on the wrong page. Must be contagious, Feline.
-
Momma cat is buried under there somewhere...

Here's another cat with a story: about 15 years ago....maybe more, school let out early because of an approaching blizzard. DS, who was in elementary school at the time, and I stopped by the grocery store on the way home. As we went in we spied this little cat wandering about in the snowbanks, and when we came out she was still there. Apparently either lost or abandoned. So, we took her home, called the Humane Society, the pound, put ads on the radio etc. with no response. We decided we'd keep her & DS named her Storm. See the next picture for the rest of the story.....
-
It soon became obvious that Storm should belong to a one pet family. She terrorized our two older cats; who spent their days trapped on top of cupboards while she ate their food, slept on their beds, played with their toys, and monopolized their people. To the happiness of all, we found her a home in which lived one little girl (who would treat her like the queen she was) and no other animals!
-
Great story!
-
Ruth, good to hear another rescue story with a happy ending
Feline, your story about Lucky had a wonderful ending too!
CAMommy looks like Dusty is adjusting and venturing out, how is the rest of your cat clan doing after the move? I think it was Starkist that was most traumatized?
Katy, your Tutti Frutti is such a pretty girl, loved the shot of her on the window sill - that is an impressive tail, she has a right to be proud!
Tomboy cool close-up shot of Lump and goldfish having a staring contest, that could've turned out to be a catch-of-the-day story!
Teka, your grandcats learn fast!!
Cowgirl, so glad that Butch has a cat sitter like you to love him while his people are away
Kiwi I could just crawl in there with all those kittens, wow are they ever growing fast!!

Was feeling kinda blue today... just feeling out of sorts, and my one "man cat" Prowler always seems to come to my rescue when this happens. It's like he can sense my heart, and then he comes and traps me on the couch. His purring is good for my soul
Thought I would share this photo taken with my phone... Prowler's favourite sweater, mine too.
-
A sweet cartoon about shelter cats: breakingcatnews.com then select special reports. I wish we could put it up at the shelter.
-
Donna- I'm glad Prowler could read your heart today. He looks like a lover. Hope tomorrow's a better day.
-
Thanks Katy
-
That's a great link Wren, lol at the "fuzzy blanket season" cartoon!
-
This might cheer you up, Donna! It's a copy of a post from Kitten Inn. Note that to get from the River to Kitten Inn, it's up a huge, long, very steep hill. So it's not just 4 km in length, it's probably a km or so in height too.
It does your heart good to know that there are young people out there that will continue on after us...
Yesterday three young teenagers turned up at my place with this little tot wrapped up in one of their hoodies.
They had been down at the River and saw this poor little soul floating past on top of a log. Not only did they jump into the river to rescue the little kitten but they also then walked over 4km to bring it to me.
When they arrived at my door they said "We knew this was where you take all the kittens no one else wants"
How it came to be on a log floating down the river we will never know, what we do know is that it is now safe, warm and its little tummy is full and for him at least life is lookin good.
I would like to thank Sarah, Lilly and David again, I hope your parents know they did a fantastic job. -
Two of the four latest arrivals - she had a tabby and another ginger kitten after this was taken. There's a little torti tucked in there if you look closely.
-
-
Wonderful story about Storm Ruthbru and such a great pic of the perilous position of your other cats! Wonderful that you found the ideal home.
Kiwi - does the heart good just as you said. Fantastic.
-
The local paper picked up the story about "Woody" - the kitten on the log in the river:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/cutestuff/726148...
Hopefully the link works!
-
What a sweet story. I'm glad Woody was found - and she's right about him being totally unable to get in that position by himself.
-
Woody has been put in with one of the mom cats at KI and she's taken him right into the fold. Here he is lining up for lunch! He's the black one, 2nd from the right. How much cute can you stand?
