WOOHOO!!! I saw a 6 today! 168. I hope I can keep it until Monday so I can record it.

It's almost embarrassing how easily it comes off when I avoid the Pepsi and yet I continue to drink it....

well ladys this is my first post on this thread--so hello all,to date i've lost 93 lbs or from 293 to 200,now i dont know if i will ever see under 200,but i work very hard trying.
i get my diep nov 14th and i had really wanted to take some more off but i dont think thats gonna happen--thank god this ps did'ent say any thing about my weight, although i carry it well at 5"10,the last ps said call me when you lose 50lbs(butt head)so i did and went to another dr,.
to lose more at this point i really think its gonna have to be more excerzing-i work out everyday am trying to do three miles just at the gym,but sometimes i only get two in,i've been lifting weights at home--just a 5 lb one,but i really belive all the weight i lost that my body is adjusting to the change,,my time of month is so messed up who knows--but you can count on it starting nov 14th (day of suergery)lol.
do you think at this point ww would help?? i don't want to maintan i wanted to lose more.
from all i've read i need stranth work,if i started that and stuck with it say a good three weeks--do you think i 'll see the scale move down--please give your advice ,as far as my calorie intake i stay 1200 to 1400 and all my vitimes everyday,,also at the gym whats the best one to use to get the most out of your work out--i like that ellpil?? i strated two min now i've worked up to 25 min or a little over a mile then go to the treadmill for another 2 miles,do you think it would be better if i stayed on the ellp??-u know more of a work out? well i rattled on sorry, please let me know what you think.love louann you can pm me also

I like WW, so would encourage you to join if you've stopped losing on your own but you seem to be doing well - congrats!!! "Recommended" weight for you is 160 (range is 139-174) so you're getting close. If you're eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day, I'd question if that's enough. For your size and activity level, I'd guess more in the 1700 range but I'm not an expert - you have to give your body fuel before it will burn it though - make sure you're not slowing your metabolism!!

Good job changing doctors - it takes courage to stand up for ourselves but is so important. Good luck with your Diep!

    170.

I never did get to record a number with a 6 in it - did a little pre-check-up eating and road trip drinking! I have hope for next week!!!

My goal is 160 by 2007. I want to lose 2lbs a week for 5 weeks them maintain through the holiday season - will see how that goes...

Good luck to everyone still working at losing the weight - WE CAN DO IT!!!!

    Louann,
Congrats on the weight loss! I think the elliptical is a great workout. It's weight bearing but not jarring. I'm a big fan of monitoring one's heart rate when exercising. It is not as simple as 220-your age but instead a determined at birth number. For a good kick to your metabolism find out what your max. heart rate is and then make sure you are working out in your aerobic or threshold zones (I think heartzones. com can give you details-if they don't and you are interested in this stuff you can pm me).

Weight training is also very useful. By increasing your muscle mass you will improve your resting metabolic rate. Three weeks may help a little but the thing about muscles is "if you don't use it you lose it" so training for three weeks and stopping will ultimately have little benefit on weight loss.

I think it is important that all women do some type of weight resistive training, particularly after the age of 35. It keeps are muscles toned, and as we age helps prevent bone loss and postural changes.

    Kari - I thought you had hit a '6'?!

I like the elliciptal, but I think plain walking is good too. The good thing about walking is that it travels with you. When you go someplace you can do a quick spin in the car and clock off a mile or two and then walk that route.

I hit it for about 2 days - never on a weigh in day!! Hit it again this morning but have had a bad day - will try to behave this weekend. I think I see the number then figure good enough! That or the timing is bad - had dinner at my SILs and poker tonight - not point friendly at all!

I've not been able to get the hang of the elliptical - fell very awkward on it.

I think you have to get the rhythm going on the elliptical. A tough machine.

I've managed to lose a couple of vacation pounds I picked up--still have a few more to go.

I like the elliptical, but don't use the swinging arm parts. It makes my arm feel funny and that I don't need!

I think you've lost weight in your face. You don't look so round.

    Here's to a 6 tomorrow!

THere won't be a 6. I've been on a pepsi-fest this weekend. It will probably be there by Tues or Weds but not in time for the weigh in. *sigh*

For a smart girl, I seem to be making poor choices!! I'll get there...

I lost weight in my face first. The tummy is where I need to lose now - butt and legs are fine.

We all have our spots. Pepsi doesn't tempt me, but that carmel popcorn I bought from a cub scout does.

    Kari,

I saw that whole pix of yours on another thread. You're right--looking good, even the tummy. Great job. You do look good in that sweater.

My brother brought some melted chocolate/butterscotch frosted rice crispy bars for dessert tonight. I'll not weigh tomorrow at all, even informally. (I managed to send the left over dessert home with my mother who loves them.)

I joined on July 10, 2006 after being gone for months due to the BC. My 3 months will be up tomorrow night at wi. So far I have lost 23.6. I don't think of it as a diet but as a lifestyle change.

Weight Watchers teaches you so much.
I was looking at the recipe above.
How many servings? How many calories per serving, fat grams, and fiber.

I can't begin to eat without knowing what I'm putting into my mouth. I have to know the points value. That assures me that I'm within my points for the day.

That is why WW is so wonderful. And with the monthly pass you get etools for free. There is a message board for all groups for free, even if you don't join. I have made some really great friends there.

Good luck to you all on your journey.

Need a diffferent topic header "not trying hard enough to lose the pounds!"

OK, this week will be a good week. I will use my tracker during the week (am good at that) and this weekend is the LiveStrong Summit in Austin - I can do well when I eat out so it should be good.

If I can just get back on the water wagon all will be well!!

Great job Mary - 23.6 lbs is wonderful! Even with my 1 lb gain I've lost 38 to date with WW (started end of January, took the summer off!) and LOVE how easy it is. You're right, it's not a diet, is about being conscious of what you're eating and how much. I haven't changed what I cook for the family, just get out the measuring cups when I fill my plate!!

Good luck everyone - here's to a good week!

Kari - what is it about Pepsi that you love?

If it's the caffeine (I'm an addict) maybe you can move to iced tea that you control the sweetening on. If it's the bubbles them maybe you could do fruit juice with club soda and edge down the juice content.

There must be something about Pepsi that you crave that keeping you drinking it.

It's the taste. I switched to decaf tea and that didn't bother me, so don't think it's a caffeine thing. Thinks it's more habit than anything - also like the frozen ones (like a Slurpee) - they're just fun!

There are times when it is the only thing that tastes good to me (like if I have a cold) and times when I'm good with water. Just get in sprees.

Fortunately, my nephews were here yesterday and drank what I had in the house so I've been good. I can behave when I have to!!!

The main tip I can give is to just begin again. Do what you did before.

Remember, If you always do what you always did. You always get what you always got.

http://members.cox.net/ladegodyva/ Here is a girlfriend of mine . Check out her weight loss. Over 180 pounds.

    Don't worry, I don't give up.

Your friend looks great! Good for her - she'll have so much more fun being able to do what her girls do (and they'll be proud of their mom!)

Off to the Y for me!

I started my participation in the breast cancer study last night. I met with my personal trainer and I think this experience will do me a lot of good. As well as help the study of course. The program includes cardio, strength training and stretching. Everything I need!! It is for 12 weeks. I have been feeling apprehensive about it (I don't like working out in front of other people) but he definitely put me at ease and said I was doing well at each of the exercises. Last night we went through one set of each exercise to see what weight I need for each. I will do 20 minutes of cardio, then 3 sets of 8-10 reps then the stretching. I'm on my way to getting back in shape. I also hope this will make exercise a life long habit. Now if I can only get my husband to start exercising too!
    Everyone have a great day.

Hi, folks. I've never posted before, so I hope I don't mess this up. Anyway, I finished treatment (lumpectomy, lymphectomy, chemo, radiation) last January, and have been having real difficulty losing the weight I gained on chemo. (Who'd have thought that something that makes you throw up would make you gain weight?) I have about 10 lbs to go to reach my pre-diagnosis weight, and I swear it's Superglued on. I'm making a real commitment now to try to get it off. Spent a lot of time today preparing appetizing diet-friendly food to eat this week. Hope it works.

    Stronglady,

Preparing food that's diet-friendly in advance sounds like a good idea.

I bought Halloween candy I can't stand so I won't eat what's left-over, but I'm usually not ahead of the game on preparing food. Welcome.

    Kari - That's great!

Doesn't matter how long it took to get there, you did it!

NOW - try to stay there. It can become your new base and you can work on drifting down from there.
