Ronda you look fabulous!!! Kicking cancer's b*tt with fashion- love it- I am so happy to see you looking so gorgeous (no matter how you are feeling at the time...).
Thanks for the tip on rent the runway - I will definitely check that out. We want photos!
Purchases girls??
Glad you are having a great summer!!!!! Me too.

Yes! A good friend of mine had Stage IV uterine cancer 20 yrs & when I got my dx in June she told me be nice to yourself, this is your time to be selfish, it's ok!

I got some new scarves and cheapie bold jewelry at a store called "rainbow"- not high quality stuff but super fun. One set has apricot tones and the other is hot pink.
This store is probably geared toward teenagers, like "forever 21" but I simply do not care any longer!
I hope everyone is doing well.

I owned a purple suede coat like this 10 years ago. The trim is Mongolian lamb or something like that -- so soft. I felt so tough in that coat. I literally wore it out, moved to Dallas and gave it to Goodwill. It was too warm of a coat for Texas. My best friend just found the exact same coat in a thrift shop in Cleveland, never worn, tags still attached, and sent it to me. My cancer has progressed in my spine. Having radiation treatments now, feeling a little scared. Doctors talk about paralysis. This coat keeps me strong. Purple power.
Sciencegal I hope you and all the other retail therapists are getting along fine. I'll try to post more pics later, only because I want to see everybody else's.
I'm trying to find a way to see Hawaii while I can still walk. Diamond Head hike is my goal. If anyone has suggestions for keeping costs down on a Hawaii trip, let me know. Hugs to all.

I am so sorry for your progression. I hope the radiation helps. You look so beautiful in the coat! Purple is totally your color!
Big cyber hugs to you!!

My husband's retail therapy. He bought me a $1400 bra and panty set from Agent Provocateur for Christmas. He thought the bra was $190, not $790. When he got back to his office, he told me, he thought about taking it back, then thought "when will I have the chance to buy this for her?" He really is a doll. You know what I got him for Christmas? A set of dishes and silverware. It sounds very unromantic but there's a story behind it. When we moved from NYC, our china and flatware disappeared. We have been using broken plates and mismatched silverware for the 3 years we've been married. We also didn't have an apt big enough for a dining room table. Now we are in a roomy townhouse, my grandmother's mahogany dining table has been refinished and we don't have to eat in the living room. Not a bad Christmas. I hope everyone else had many opportunities for retail therapy. (And yes, the set is seriously comfortable. Already worn it twice.)

Seems like a new post is needed! I had 32DDD reduced to very small B's after lumpectomy and oncoplasty in February and begin radiation tomorrow. I have nothing that fits. Going out with my husband last night reduced me to tears as I spent an hour trying on most of what I used to love. Now I look like a homeless person trying to play 'dress up'. I am one of 4 sisters who are all telling me to wait to buy anything new until after radiation. Opinions? I just basiclly feel ugly. Love the new breasts, just not anything I own. Thanks for listening to the blah, blah, blah of someone with nothing to wear! I am glad to have read of all of he success stories posted here!

rockandrollmom, if you feel up to it, buy yourself something. You need to feel pretty. Do you know about Rent the Runway? You can rent dresses for 4-8 days then return them. They used to have just special occasion dresses, now they have some casual dresses. I am on the Unlimited plan. For $49, I can choose a dress, a purse, and jewelry and keep it as long as I like, when I get bored, I order something else. If you do this you won't have a lot of clothes to get rid of later. You don't deserve to feel ugly. 💜💜💜💜💜

rocknroll mom
I am sorry that you are feeling this way. It is very difficult after all the treatments to feel normal and pretty again.
I say dont wait! Treat yourself, you deserve it!
Retail therapy is truely the best therapy!!!
-
Go shopping rockandrollmom!
Donate the things that don't fit anymore.
I've done a change of season sort & toss today & with the amount of things to give away I don't feel bad at all about 2 lovely new pink bras & 9 pairs of knickers! Not quite in agent provocateur league but very pretty :-

I'm so happy to find this thread. Just diagnosed and thinking of flying to the south of France for a vacation before treatment starts. I'm so frugal, I wash and reuse plastic sandwich bags!
-
Do it! Good luck to you with your treatments and diagnosis, Gina4h, and welcome to the boards! Oh, yeah, can I come with?
-
I have surgery this Wednesday, so while I was out shopping for button up pj's I treated myself to some frillys from Victoria's Secret. I am dreading how I will look after my surgery so anything I can do to feel pretty is a plus.
-
Great idea. I'm thinking of getting some silky pretty p j pants before treatment that are easy to pull on and look good. If all goes well, maybe I'll find some in Aix-en-Provence:)

Sorry for the delay in responding ladies! I have spent the better part of last week helping an elderly neighbor rake her leaves and clean her window wells. Not the smartest thing I've done lately to be sure. I also have been chatting to another neighbor who was just diagnosed with breast cancer, helping her find doctors and set up appointments, discuss her diagnosis and treatment, and basically just be there for her. Needless to say, that means no shopping. I invited my 19 year old over to help me go through my closet, but she is taking a pass on any interactions for now...as in I've seen her 4 times now since I've been diagnosed in January. I cannot be bitter as she spent 3 years knowing about an autoimmune disease that I have and even driving me to have 3 hour long infusions as her brother was in Afghanistan and training. I DO need to go soonish as spring is almost here in chilly 'ole Wisconsin and my one grey stand by t-shirt is almost invisible from having washed it so many times!!! Thanks again so much for the cheering words of wisdom from those who have been down this road and good luck to those whose journey is just beginning. Love to all!!!!

No south of France:( My BS hopes to start treatment this week. I have metaplastic BC with lymph node involvement, so we need to move very quickly. Oh well, maybe later.
-
I'm sorry Gina4h. Maybe a tripwhen the treatment is over? I think a gal always needs something to look forward to, especially when she's sick. I wish you the best with your treatment.
-
So sorry Gina4h, keep your mind on postponing, not cancelling.
good luck

Bought some things for the house and "tried out" a couple of sofas. Going to decide and which one I like best and go back later this week to get it. Have not given up on the south of France. Just found out I got accepted for a talk in Vienna and may be able to get funding to pay for it. As long as I'm not in treatment at the end of August, I'll go and pretend I'm Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music Lol.
Also bought some soft shirts and shorts that pull on, so no zippers or buttons to rub. Also some new runners:)
I have NEVER shopped so much for me in one week. For my children and late husband yes, but not for me.
-
It seems that I'm the only one engaging in retail therapy lately, but that's okay, I'm buying enough for all of us:)
New washing machine, new dryer, new curtains, my "chemo sofa", inktense pencils and sketchpad (maybe I'll become an artist), books to read with my granddaughter.....
