Thank you Rhonda! Yes it would be fun to sit and chat about our amazing sons! We are so lucky to have them!!!
Great idea on the holiday decorations thread!
Hugs! -
Shoppygirl you look gorgeous!!! Congrats on getting through all of this with so much style, and your smile intact.
Great house too, and your son is super cute.
I have been crazy busy at work (in a boring seminar right now LOL) but I will try hard to post a pic of those doc martens- from a thrift store long ago and have lived in my closet for a few years until they were back in style. i LOVE that about closets.
Have a wonderful turkey day everyone (in the USA). I was in the grocery store shopping for our bounty yesterday and suddenly tears started streaming down my face because I vividly remembered standing right in the same spot last year and thinking it would be my last holiday season. That was a month after they found my 9 CM tumor.
I am SOOOO glad to still be here! and shopping again! Turkey in fridge- woohoo!!!!! Let the holidays begin.

I have tears just reading your post! It is amazing how holidays can bring up these memories!

I had the most fun thrift store shopping yest. though no luck only couple goat shed mucking out sweatshirts. But I eavesdropped on 2 gals with great style buying boots and all manner of things. I so wanted to join them and do more shopping. The conversation in dressing room (with me in room in between the 2) was who was guarding the great boot deal. I tried but I could not find anything there; usually one of my better places. I did much better at the local hosp. volunteer store last week.
Sciencegal - I googled leopard Doc Martens. Sound great. I still could not find a long tunic sweater so guess I will wear black pants/black & white top tomorrow. My usual unless I score at a local dept. store down the road when I go to PT this afternoon. Not holding out hope but I think I do have a coupon; just need to locate in this disaster.
Happy Thanksgiving to U.S. BCO friends. Hang in here together. -
No great shopping bargains recently???
-
Frogg Toggs!!!! $9.98 at Walmart!!!! Buying them for everyone!!!!

Hello lovely shopping ladies! I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We are off to Tacoma, Wa tomorrow and then to Vancouver!
I hope to do lots of shopping and also hope to avoid the random 3d scan at the airport tomorrow morning so I don't have to explain the wig and prosthesis AGAIN!
Hugs to all!!!

I'm back from my week at Sloan-Kettering for tests and treatment. I've been buying some cool vintage stuff on Poshmark. I bought these BCBG suede shoes at Century 21 in NYC. Needed something for my LBD. Really good PET scan results. Tamox seems to be working to reduce tumor size. Hope the holidays are happy for all of you. Thank you for the gift of your friendship.
-
Rhonda !
So happy to hear from you! The shoes are beautiful ! The heel looks like a perfect height! I am so glad you had a good PET scan and that the Tamoxafin is working for you! What great news to go into Christmas with!

Thank you SOO much ladies. This is the first time a cancer treatment I can tolerate has given me a scan showing regression. Hoping Tamox will continue to reduce my tumor size. Hoping all of you feel great, now and in 2014. Hope Santa brought you lots of goodies.

-
Hello beautiful shopping ladies. I hope everyone had a good holiday season!
Sciencegal, the puppy is adorable! What a cutie!
We came back from visiting our family to some good news. Some of you may know that my hubby has stage 4 colon cancer. He had a ct scan before we left and got the results when we came back. He is currently NED! There are no mets anywhere in his body! Next scan is in April but for now he is good and does not need any more treatment.
I also wanted to share my recent purchase; eyebrow tattoos! I am hopefully going to be able to get rid of the wig soon and figured that since I will have short hair, I might as well have great eyebrows! Here is a photo:

-
@ shoppy girl very nice eyebrows, Haven't been to a mall since November. I live not too far from what I call mall land in Jersey along rt 17 and rt 4. Went to two malls (riverside square and garden state) yesterday with DD. Some great sales going on. I needed a dress for DD's wedding that is this summer..Lots of party dresses marked way down.Wound up buying one in Nordstrom's. The prices at Nordstrom's were even better than Macy's. Also checked out Loehman's for the closing sale , nothing there for us.. Darn this is the second one of my favorite shops to go under. I will miss Loehman's as much as I miss Daffy's. At Least I still have Century 21 and Annie Sez over on rt 4.DD hasn't ordered her dress yet, still doing research. 2 or 3 thousand dollars for a dress that is worn for only one evening is stupid. .Bridal shops are such a rip off Found one that I thought we could get a dress for less than $1,000 but the shop we went to does custom couture and I like nice fabrics.. They had some wonderful French lace with bling, but when I asked about ball park figures the prices were still up there. Had to forget about the charmeuse silk under lay with the French lace, asked about a less expensive fabric for the under lay, price was better but not good enough. Wedding planning is hard and easily gets out of control. what started as a small wedding has ballooned to a guest list of 174 (OMG) Luckily I am not on the hook for all the expenses.DD didn't like my idea of a Vegas wedding with the Elvis impersonator, or my offer of a wedding with the same amount of guests that I had at mine(there were 13 including myself and DH) DD has been on her own for nearly 10 years and has a good job as does my future SIL and his family is much larger than mine so they are contributing to the expenses also.. At least I know have something pleasant to agonize over rather than my health. Just hope I can last to enjoy most of the party. I might wind up sleeping in the bridal suite while they have the reception.

shoppygirl I am so happy to hear about your hubby's NED. May NED hang around as a best buddy for a long time. 😃
Now the eyebrow tattoos, I have to admit I am puzzled. You LOOK GREAT! They LOOK REAL. How was that done? They're perfect! So, what will happen when your eyebrows grow back? Will your brows look thicker?
I'm Poshmarking day and night. My new addiction. I got 3 Ralph Lauren turtlenecks, a velvet (brand name) dress and a white blouse all like new for $35. My intent was to thin out my closet, and I've sold a few things, but ... I'm a gatherer by nature!
I hope every one is well enough to shop. January is great for sales. Any H&M fans out there? They now have an online shopping app and they have home goods. I got 2 cute pillows covers and down pillow inserts for about $10 each.
But my FAVORITE shopping acquisition is linen, REAL linen sheets, for my bed. I slept on linen sheets on a vacay once in the Bahamas. It was unreal. So comfy! It's been my dream to have them but they run about $400-$600 a set. I saw a set in a Restoration Hardware catalog a year ago, and tore out the pages and put in my wish folder. My wish came true when I was shopping online before Christmas and saw that the color I wanted -- deep purple -- was marked down more than 50%. I got a purple duvet cover, pillowcases and lavender sheets. If you love a good night's sleep you have to try linen. Start with a pillowcase set if you are skeptical. (The online sale is still going on, FYI)
Happy shopping to all!

Rhonda
Sounds like you got some great deals! I love it when you find what you want and it is on sale!
The eyebrow tattoos were painless and fast. They just draw them on your face to your liking and then they use a small tattoo gun to fill them in. I believe I will just have to pluck around the tattoos to get the stray hair. I had very thin eyebrows before so I am not expecting much growth. I am going back in a month or so to have them touched up. By then the swelling will be gone. We have a one stop cancer shop here called compassionate beauty and they do everything from wigs to prosthesis to tattooing and spa services. They are amazing!
Hugs!

Hi fellow shoppers from snowy Whitefish, MT! On vacation to ski, eat, relax and SHOP. I need some retail therapy~~~second diagnosis (DCIS this time on other side) 12/10'/13, lumpectomy scheduled 1/16/14.
My best bargain was a black Indigenous sweater originally priced at $176! I saw it when we first got here and it was marked down 70%, today, it was down an additional 10%~~~my lucky day! I also bought some Prana yoga tops for my sisters, also 80% off.
Has anyone heard of Coobie bras? I bought one to wear to work during radiation. Like a seamless, wireless sports bra with pads, but nicer. The shop also had good soaps, lotions, etc.
Ronda, the linen linens sound heavenly!
Brian is adorable, what a wonderful gift!
The eyebrow tattoos look great, very natural!
I saw a cute sign in a store that said " shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden." I was happy that my husband was skiing today so I could shop at my own pace!

Hey Gina
Sounds like you got lots of good deals. Good for you! I love Whitefish, its actually not that far from Calgary.
Well it has been quiet on this fourm lately. I guess everyone is still recovering from the holidays. I hope everyone is doing well!
I bought myself an early birthday present. See below! They are the cutest boots from Nine West. Also very comfy! I am off work for the next week as I am having my ooph surgery tomorrow. Hopefully I can hobble out next week to see if there are any good deals. Hugs to all

-
Awesome boots! Good luck with your surgery Shoppygirl!! we'll be thinking about you. Time to shop on amazon for awhile I guess- Please limit the shop-hobbling at first!
I havent been posting for awhile due to crazy deadlines at work, I am SO tired by the time I get home at night. But we are getting to the end of them (whew) and it is definitely good to be back to a "new normal" so that I can work this hard.
Ronda, I know you asked a long time ago, but the puppy is named after Brian the dog on "family guy". One of my favorite cartoon characters. He is a good puppy, growing and learning quickly. I love him so much.
Congrats on all the purchases my friends, I can't wait to get back out there to the shops. meanwhile it is great to hear about your treasures!
Hugs
