Tampa area BCO sisters get togethers

Agreed Galsal, glad to see all of you and those not attending were missed!
-
Michelle did contact me yesterday evening, apologizing for missing the Luncheon. A dear friend of her's with BC had called her for a sudden head shaving party. She looks forward to the next time.
-
I remember that day of my own and glad Michelle was able to be there to support her friend. We will look forward to meeting her next time.
It was four years ago today, two days before Thanksgiving, that I had my first of seven surgeries. It was supposed to be a "simple" lumpectomy followed by 5 days of internal radiation and all done and over. Things changed based on the pathology report during the lumpectomy. I woke up looking at the ceiling of a hospital room I had been admitted into instead of the ceiling of my own bedroom. And so began the Journey of the Damned.....
-
MC - not the damned, just the somewhat unlucky... but, I know what you mean
It has been a crazy ride, right? I am just a bit ahead of you, my first surgery (of many, lol!) was Nov. 1 - this year I was busy enough that I actually forgot it was an anniversary of sorts!
-
These are never the anniversaries one wants to remember, but on the positive side of things You are HERE for which we are grateful.
-
hi gals! I am in Sarasota....anything in the new year for gatherings
-
Hi ladies moms having her mastectomy done in January. Can you recommend any local places to purchase bras and prosthesis. Thanks again!
-
Jmo - All About You, here is a link. This store is in South Tampa. I know they bill some insurance companies. They spent a long time fitting me, since I was trying to match a flat side with a 650cc implant - it was a challenge. They are very nice, and very patient!
-
Thank you SpecialK
-
Yes, that shop is quite nice and most patient too.
-
Jmo06 - I don't know what part of town you are in, but I go to West Coast Brace & Limb on Fletcher Avenue near Temple Terrace. They bill insurance, and have been great to work with.
-
nbnotes - I was unaware that they carried mastectomy bra/inserts - I get my lymphedema sleeves/gauntlets from that location.
-
Yes, that is where I was sent for bras/breast forms by the VA.
-
SpecialK - Yes, they have a nice room with samples, etc.
-
nbnotes and galsal - thank you so much! It is looking like I will be needing bras and prosthetics for a longer period than I originally thought so good to know there is another resource that is close to home! I only have two bras and one insert to date - and I am not that crazy about them. PS wrote the prescription for that x 3, so I can definitely get more. Yay! -
Hooray for you! Wishing insurance paid for the bras to wear after exchange to implants. The ones that fit me are expensive - at least to me they are since usually I'd been a Playtex, Maidenform, Bali type gal..
I've hit the problem of fitting into Underwire ones well. If the band fits, the cups are too big. If the cups fit, the band doesn't. At least the Wacoal Awareness Soft Cup fits me once i figured out to adjust what size to try. Dillards and Nordstrom hadn't figured that out. Yep, feeling rather proud of myself on that score. One Chantelle
Have been to Nordstrom, DIllards, Macy's, Nordstrom Rack, etc. So far, have a whole TWO bras that fit. One soft side and one Natori Sports Bra Underwire which isn't all that about all-day comfort. Since I need to have some underwire on hand in case Left tries to drop or too much, I'm heading to Her Room or similar website to deal with ordering and returning. what doesn't fit. There's worse things in life right.
-
Hi ladies can you recommend a place I can get mom a compression sleeve? Thanks again!!!
-
-
thanks SpecialK
-
Also, Anderson Home Heath on Henderson Blvd. in South Tampa.
-
thanks MondaysChild

Ladies, it's been almost Three months since the last get-together. Thoughts on scheduling another? I've a dear friend who needs to join us too. She was with me at all appointments after diagnosis for the first six months of my own BC journey. Sadly, now the tables are reversed and I'm there for her.
-
My next 2 weekends are packed, but I would definitely be interested in getting together sometime after that.
-
sorry 2 hear about your friend Galsal
-
How does everyone feel about a Sunday afternoon? Starting at maybe 1pm or 2pm? That allows for those who work on Saturday to join us (missing DLL66 too many times!) and afternoon will not interfere with church schedules.
-
Thinking 3/8 or 3/15 if Sunday is good with everyone.
-
Either of those would work for me!
-
Oh, fun! Either of those days would work for me. Sorry about your friend, GalSal.
-
I'm open....name a date and I'm in! Thanks for the good thoughts, Ladies.
-
Let's go for March 15 at 1:30. Does that time work on that day? Place?
