9/26- grateful to have some good paying PT consulting work that will start soon.

Like Mommyof2, I also am very grateful to be alive as well. I was reliving my medical oddessy of 2012 in the gyn's office today, which made me realize again how fortunate I was to have such good care on several fronts during some unbelievable events.

Grateful for fresh broccoli, kale and mushrooms and even more grateful that I love vegetables and enjoy cooking and preparing them.

Hello. Honey, what do you do with Kale? I've seen it at the market, but I thought it was seaweed. Is it?

She, great ideas keeping yourself going. Congrats on 19 years.

Mommy, I've always been interested in ancestry but not willing to spend the money to get Ancestry.com and don't really know any other way to get the info.

Hi Nel, how are you doing. Nice to see you back.

Ruth, I read stories about that too, scary stuff. And to have to count your children in families because so many died all at once! I think that would kill me.

Jazzy, hooray on the consulting work. Money is good. lol

Today I am grateful for a nice golf game with my DH. Made the whole game but the last 3 or 4 holes my knee was giving me quite a bit of pain, so maybe I overdid it. It was worth it though, we had a really nice time.

    Red,

Been doing my research through a site called rootsweb for free from other people that have connections, I also have an Ancestry account but can't afford the membership. Found a third cousin through Ancestry and found out that I had at least one person on each side of my parents family in the Civil War. Never knew about that!

9/28- grateful for a fun weekend. Lovely wedding last night for a good friend that was outdoors and we had a blast dancing the night away too! Also grateful for the harvest market today with another friend where I hit the farmers market and craft fair. Love the fall festivals!

Red- Kale is a type of green and considered a "superfood" as it is loaded with micronutrients. I got some today at the farmers market and will stir fry it with garlic to serve on the side with a meal. Also put it in salads, and blende into my smoothies too. It is definatly not seaweed, but can sometimes have a bitter taste, to it so you should try it sometime to see if you like it.

Grateful that I went for walks Friday & Saturday when it was nice out & that I don't have to head out today when it is not nice at all!

Also grateful that (at the moment, anyway) the Minnesota Vikings are ahead in their football game.

This morning I am grateful that my son, DIL and 3 grandchildren are ok after being hit by an idiot at the junction of 2 major hwys yesterday. Their SUV will need repair, but even the lady who hit them said it was her fault.

9/29- I am grateful to have had the courage to get on my bike yesterday for the first time in 2 years. My personal training has strengthen my core and balance, so it was a bit less scary.

Onco- sorry about the loss of your friend. She sounded like an amazing lady and may those who loved her find comfort during this difficult time.

Red, I cook my kale with onions and garlic, no water because I use heavy stainless steel cookware.  Because I like it soft, I allow it to cook on low for up to an hour.  It is one of my favorite greens.  I season it with sea salt and black pepper.

So grateful for my wonderful funny friend, Suzanne.  She brings sunshine into the life of anyone she meets.

    Red,

I read every day, just don't often post.  Waiting for foot surgery at the end of October, frustrated with being slowed down and uncomfortable!    Making me a grump.

Been gone for quite a while, just no energy to post.

Onco, am so very sorry for the loss of your friend. This BC is nasty, nasty, nasty. You will be in my prayers tonight, my friend.

About Ancestry.com - check your local library. Ours has a subscription so I camp out there and do research on occasion. Be aware you can email yourself (or someone else) copies of documents for FREE (not sure if it applies to all, but got copies of my maternal grandfather's Naturalization papers and the ship manifest when he arrived at Ellis Island). Worth a call.

Red, so grateful your family is ok. The van can be repaired. Hoping the other driver doesn't change her story and has insurance.

Onco, so sorry about the loss of your friend. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Nel, sorry you haven't been well. And you are never a grump to us.  Foot surgery? Can I ask what kind?

2TA, hi there! Good to see you again. Sorry about your poor energy levels. Good information about Ancestry.com. I will check the local library.

Honey, Ruth, 2TA and Cheryl, thanks for your kind words. The main thing is that all are safe and sound.

Today I am thankful that my back and neck hurt a bit less than yesterday. It still hurts but definitely more manageable.

Grateful that I am able to get into see my dentist tomorrow for a tooth problem that has come up. Good Grief, it is about as hard as getting an audience with the Pope. Nobody would help me on the phone 'we are booked up', so I went over and sat in the office until somebody would help me!!

    Yay, Onco!

Today I am grateful for my co-workers who put up with me on my moody days. I do try to close the office door to let them know I am very busy. Being interrupted while working and being a bit snipping about it is one of my many faults.

    Awesome to hear that Onco!

I remember how it was for me to get into a pool this past June while on vacation for the first time in over a year! Loved it!

Grateful I got in to see my primary doc today on short notice.  Second bout with shingles since August.  When clear, I will definitely go get the vaccine.  My doctor is so nice that my blood pressure actually goes down whenever I have to see him.

Grateful for my personal trainer who has brought my strength and fitness along in amazing ways since we began working together close to a month ago.

Ruthbru- same thing happened to a friend of mine after talking to 2 dentists during dental crisis. I hope things are better for you soon!

Honeybair-sorry to hear about the shingles. Sounds like you are a good candidate for a shot. My sister got shingles during chemo treatment and later got the shot.

Onco- congrats on getting in the pool. Water therapy will help you in amazing ways!
