Had a great time with my daughter in Michigan, and she came back with me. Went home today on the train after we did the tomato throw at soldier field...I will post a picture when I get them loaded. We were a mess. I really didn't think I would get all messy. Was prepared and had a change of clothes...but how hard is it to duck from a tomato...right?   Well, it was tomato mush.....they were all in a couple of large circles, and looked like they were trying to make wine...they were all crushed. So you had to scoop them up and toss the pile of mush...very funny.. I love doing silly things...this had to have topped the silly list. We were covered in the mess. They hosed us down after...lol. Freezing cold water...I am happy my hubby and daughter don't think I am nuts with these crazy ideas.

Chevy, we raised convicts In a small 10 gallon tank. Had to take the male out cause he would eat the babies if we didn't. So the mom was alone in The tank with her babies. I remember watching her move them all the time. Picked them up individually and spit them out into different locations in the tank. To bad they can't reason....there is no one in the tank to hurt you...relax...but they just go on instinct

2nd, my heart goes out to you during this emotionally and physically draining time with your mom and dad. Probably best that you couldn't sell yourself for job interview. You are exactly doing what you need to be doing right now. Hopefully soon, your days will settle into a routine. Your mom sure has some fight in her to push back a big male nurse and attendant....feisty lady hope you get some sleep tonight.

Speaking of sleep, I'm trying out a sleep app on my iPhone that tracks sleep patterns. It's a free sleep tracker app and it apparently uses motion to determine how well a person sleeps. I'm sure Chevy and Cami will have a field day laughing about motion detection. Anyhow, the phone stays plugged in and face down on the mattress. I will see the sleep graph in the morning and let you all know.

Well girls, it looks like I am going to grow old utterly disgracefully after having a police car take DH and I into custody this evening at the front of our local hospital.

He and I were there this  morning for a meeting with the social worker and our daughter to tell her that she won't be coming home to our house when she finishes

her rehab after the stroke she took five weeks ago.  I have been having panic/anxiety attacks about this lately and felt like a major meltdown was coming up fast so, after spending all morning

looking for my vallium tabs to calm me down before the event, I went there without.  Our daughter didn't know what the meeting was for and when she was finally told, asked if she was going into a local nursing home. We assured her she wasn't and she was ok with going into an assisted/group living residence.  After all that worry on my part, she didn't shed a tear...not that I expect that to last...it will probably hit her all of a sudden and then we might have some fireworks.

So....tonight we went up there to see her through her evening meal as we do every day...hubby dropping me off at the door before driving around to find a parking space, by which time I am with Kellie in the rehab unit.

When we left, hubby went ahead to get the car while I took my time with the aid of my walking stick.  I stood on the front steps waiting in what seemed to be a wind tunnel with a light cardigan to keep me warm.  He took so long I went back inside to the foyer and sat in a chair to wait.

The next thing I see is him walking toward the front door with no sign of the car anywhere to be seen.  I got up to meet him at the entrance, only to hear him say, "The car's been stolen!"

Oh My God! What? Talk about being slapped in the face with a dead fish!

I got my cell phone out and told him to ring the police which took about ten minutes and was told they'd send a police car shortly.

Well, it took about thirty minutes, during which it started to rain and I nearly froze to death so we went back into the foyer to get warm.  I was also fuming that DH had left the car unlocked or something equally likely to stop our insurance company from paying out....while all the other consequences of having no car tomorrow slammed into my brain.

The 'car' arrived with two young constables so we went back outside to give them the relevant details until the cold forced all four of us inside the entrance again.  When they had written all the facts down they asked us for both our car keys as apparently they can tell (when/if they recover the car) which key opened/closed the car the last time.  This also tells them if the car was left unlocked or not.

They told us a bulletin had been put out on the police radios along with a photo of a similar looking car on their 'net page, so they were already looking for it as we spoke.

All that done, they offered to drive us home, which we accepted because we needed someone to jump our five foot high fence to get us into our yard.  We only use the remote controlled garage door opener to get in...a problem DH doesn't want to deal with even if we have a power outage.  Those things only dare happen to me...never him...it's so embarrassing asking the neighbours to jump the fence when we have a gate in it that needs a lock with a key for such times.

Anyway...the nice young men cleaned all their junk out of the back seat of the twin-cab, four-wheel-drive vehicle, putting it into the paddy wagon on the back.  Hubby and I climbed into the back seat with as  much dignity as we could muster in front of a crowd of smokers who were sitting in a pergola-type shed close to the road.

One of the young cops suggested going back to where hubby said he parked the car for a quick 'look-see,' as he backed out of the parking bay specifically designated for Corrective Services Use Only.  Hoping no-one I knew saw us with the police in the well lit foyer of the hospital and then being driven off in their vehicle, I was a tad glad to be leaving.

We turned right at the hospital gates to go about two hundred yards to where Hubby said he had parked the car...when a car very similar to ours caught my attention.  As we got closer, I read the number plate and was gobsmacked to see it was the same as ours.  The constable in the passenger seat also recognised it as ours, so the driver pulled up ahead of our car to do a U-turn and have a closer look.  My husband meanwhile was denying it was ours because he had parked further up the street.

The driver pulled up directly across the road from it and, grabbing a torch, crossed the road to give it a closer inspection.

Yep...it was our car alright...parked exactly where hubby had left it...even though he was convinced some-one had moved it.  We made a very embarrassed apology to the policemen and then a hasty escape with DH arguing all the way home the car had been moved.

Until he remembered, when we were at the hospital earlier in the day, he HAD parked it further down the street...but not this time.

lol convicts are so cool, I had them too, then I started to love discus, I had 8 beautiful discus in a 90gl loved it. I gave it all up I couldn't keep up with mom, she could over feed my fish and it was difficult to ask her to understand. Also decided I would sale and move so the tank had to be gone. 

2nd time I am so sorry, hope things get better. I had a few of my sisters visiting mom and I and they also thought that mom had changed in a mean way. I never thought that but it's cuz to them mom said things not considering that it could hurt their feelings. Thanks g mom never said or did anything rude to me. She thought we were always alone at some point she even forgot about the rest of the family. Dementia,is a hard thing when their short memory is totally gone.  I ll keep my fingers crossed so all gets better for you  and your dad.

All this tech stuff is just to much for me--Chevy how do u have all these programs to save--what in the hell do u do tht's so important??? I could understand if u worked but come on are u just trying to impress us? Are u in some kind of covert work--U'd be good at that.

Aussie that story was so vivid and funny, what a crack up that was. Glad that it turned out good, but it was funny.

2nd this I a tough time I know and u need all u'r time right now for u'r mom and dad. so the job thing will come when ready.

And tang don't not tell us how u'r first rad went today.

Aussie, I was laughing at your story about your 'missing car'. Don't ever let your husband off the hook about losing the car...so funny, a story you'll have in your family to pass down and laugh about later. One time I was at the bank and came out to find an elderly man leaning against my car calling someone on his cell phone because he couldn't unlock the car door. I explained to him that he couldn't unlock the car door because it was my car...his was parked a few feet away from mine. Certainly glad the police didn't show up. 

So, the new sleep app showed I slept 5 hours, 36 minutes and woke up 3 times. You've right Chevy, it doesn't account for animals or other people in the bed, so really not all that accurate.

A WOMAN was flying from Melbourne to Brisbane ...
Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sydney.
The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes..

Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind.
A man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her Seeing Eye Dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight.
He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, 'Kathy, we are in Sydney for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?'

The blind lady replied, 'No thanks, but maybe Max would Like to stretch his legs.'

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog!
The pilot was even wearing sunglasses.
People scattered.
They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

Susan - the tomato throw sounds like a fun marvelous time. Are you free to throw tomatoes at anyone in the "game" so conversely you are free to get hit by anyone? Do you have tomato red dyed hair now? Glad you were able to make the trip and your DD came back with you. When you said you raised "convicts" I thought perhaps you had joined Phylliswiththeanklebracelet. Oh I see Chevy had the same thought. (Great minds think alike - right?)

We could make tomato sauce outside today. It's 95 already and not even noon. Hah they think the high is going to be 99 - no way. Betting for at least 101. But there are storms starting to pop up by Wichita Falls headed our way. These could be wind makers for sure at this temp. I washed out dog's crate this am. Just turned it to finish drying and need to get it in soon.

Got a dumb/dumber question. For those of you that get pedi's (no mani needed) about how often do you go? I'm trying to justify the expense to myself because I'm having trouble reaching the toes and doing anything other than a butcher job on toenail cutting. Polish I can do OK. I've only ever had one pedi - after my LX. In all my preps for it the one thing I forgot to do was cut my toenails. DH can actually do a pretty good polish job but NOT with quik dry stuff. Well I did have a couple when pregnant must admit. How do you know they sterilize well? Had no prob. with the one after LX and it would be the same place - where I go to get my reg. haircut.

2TA - You prob. already know this but the UTI was driving her behavior issues. Usually the 1st clue is a change (and never a good change) in behavior. I think it is not unusual that pts stay on low dose maintenance. Sassy might be more able to answer that. I still think unless the perfect - and I do mean the job - comes along it was not meant to be until you get your mom settled. And I know settled is not anywhere near the term for what you and your DD feel in your hearts. Wish I could be there to help out, bring you coffee/iced tea and give you a big hug.

Chevy - I don't know beans about ITunes but I get he11 from DH if I leave stuff open. He's better about it than he used to be but he says when I leave windows open it's an avenue for hackers. How can that be when it sits on the email homepage and that's not a problem for him?? I am not computer literate. Don't ask me to retrieve stuff from Word documents. I can't find them 99% of the time - thank goodness I don't use too much. But Adobe moved the user manual to my phone and I went nuts until I figured out how to get back to it (I bought phone used/no manual). So yes I shut this down every night and if we are gone from home or during extreme elec. storms.

AussieSheila - I was reading your story hoping the trip in the paddy wagon would turn out good. What a story. Hopefully in the future it will become a family story and you can laugh at it. Was it worse being driven around the hosp. parking lot or possibly arriving home in the paddy wagon? Many years ago DH,DD and I flew to Houston to meet old friends and then the 6 of us flew on to Harlingen, rented a car and drove to South Padre. Rent cars were all white Ford Taurus'. You could spot them a mile away (think they don't use the same make/model so much now because they were robbery targets). Stupidly we spent time in the grocery pk lot trying to open (keys only no remote 1995 or so) numerous Fords cause we had no idea which one was ours.

Enerva - that is a beautiful place to walk. That would certainly inspire me to get out.

Tang - thinking about you today. One step at a time. You'll quickly learn the rads routine. I could count thru mine and knew just when the arm would move. I was more concerned about getting a cold (sneeze/cough) but they told me just give them a quick warning. Never did once during them so turned out a non-worry that I shouldn't have worried about. I certainly think stress and the stress hormones have a place in BC development. I think studies will eventually show that but then there are others who have no extreme stress in those preceding years. Looking at rain map on channel 8 - looks like you're in the 2-3" section like we are. Yeah. I'm ready for fall.

Nettie - I cracked up at that story. What a surprise ending. I thought sure blind lady was going to get back on the wrong flight. Thanks for the laugh.

Nettie - I'm not the best. I feel along collarbone both sides and axillae but lefty is hard to do because mostly one big lump. Has been. Along under neck. Looking for a change just like self breast exam. If you do just b4 or just after doc exam then you know what you feel they think is normal. If you do b4 of course you can ask what is this. I was not good at SBE - thank my lucky stars it was found on mammo.

Hope I have not put anyone to sleep reading here. Maybe I need to write the next best seller.

Nettie, great story...lymph nodes I am a pro at...wish I wasn't, but that's the way it is. Lots of cancer in mine. Under arms r harder to find cause they r a bit deeper. Feel around there a lot and get used to how it feels. U will notice something different . The neck,  both side of your jugular, and along your clavicle are the best places to check. I also check my jaw ones. There aren't any above your jaw line. When mine swell up and we have to switch chemos, my neck gets very tight and it's painful cause they r pressing against nerves and my jugular and it limits my neck mobility. They r perfectly round when they start out swelling, if they get to big they feel like clusters, u can't feel the perfect roundness anymore. Well, that's my story.

Tomato throw info ....pics will b on later today.....yes u can throw at anybody ....had a hat on, it was a mess. Lol....yes we smelled like tomatoes till we showered, even though we changed our clothes. Wait till u see the pics of our shoes, cause we were wiki and sliding in the mush...pretty gross. And of course I had a white t shirt on...the red mush shoes up real well on that.

My crazy sister in law, asked me on Saturday at a wedding shower if her daughter could move in with us. Boy did that catch me off guard . First, she has been to my house often, I have 2 bedrooms, one for us and one for my daughter, who comes in often. And we have one shower working , and one has been broken for over a year. Could have fixed it, but we have been using money for fun traveling right now, we will get to it eventually . It is in the master bedroom, so no one sees it. This was after she asked me how I was doing, thought I was done with chemo and all better. I explained that I will never b off chemo, and when they run out, oh well, so do I..lol.   My hubby, her brother , lost his job 3 yrs ago and is working for a bit above minimum wage...but fantastic insurance, which is what we need right now. He teaches culinary on Saturdays during the school yr along with the other job, so we r good then, a little tuff in the summer, but all in all good. Her daughter is 21, and we live closer to where she works and would like to travel less. Hate it when I have to say no, in a situation like that. But how could she have even asked me?. I feel like the bad guy. Especially since we have done this for other family members before. But right now, it just wouldn't work.
