The cat Venus is an example of a Chimera. A chimera is one organism with two different genetic types. I tried to start a thread with this in the topic since I have both an implant and a flap. Not one person responded!  I guess I'm just weird.  LOL  But I did post a pretty peacock chimera.   Calling all Chimeras

The other cat is probably just marked pretty and not a true chimera. She has the same color eyes.

The blue merle color is gorgeous but people who breed need to research the color genetics. It's a lethal gene when both parents are merle in many breeds and in some breeds a quarter of all puppies will be born with defects or dead.

Sas, pawprint is right they do sell cooling pads you can use. Basically a fan that runs underneath to keep the air circulating. If it's an older laptop, dust building up can cause a problem too. If you have a tech person you use, you may want to have it cleaned out and always keep the bottom as open as possible. I often sit cross legged or one leg tucked under so air can circulate under the laptop. Try to listen for the fan running and be sure to turn it off and cool it down if it comes on. Never leave it plugged in on top of a couch or cushioned surface.

Chevy,PP and FBB, Thank you, Ds said to blow it out. Fans not working. Duh didn't know it had a fan. Hearing loss. Can't hear the shower running etc. So, will check with my computer team tomorrow. Might be cheaper to buy a new laptop, but i love this little thing. Second hand HP. Originally about 1600.00$. I bought for around 325.00$.  Bench fee is 90$. Will have to try all that you suggest.

But rapidly heating up. I'm out of commission. Only minutes at a time. Worse then the ban. I can't do anything. Starting through withdrawal. LOL.

Always something. Next month was the frirst month since forever that I could look forward to without a "something" . Now I can even small something

    Off again L&H&P's sassy

Blessings - sounds like you've got it right about the
plastic containers. But we lose lids to them too or DH puts them up higher than
I can reach so they remain lidless until I shame him into getting them down
again for me. Oh how I wish I were tall.

FBB – I think you are very lovely too. Oh my rattie is no Chihuahua. She's 19# of muscle; quite a little jumper. I don't remember about the Bluebird movie you were in???

Cami - glad your son-in-law is back home. Hope he is resting and your DD is the one doing the errands. At least Joey is out of school so one less thing to have to worry about.

No plans for the 4th. DH is working. He has today and tomorrow off, plus Saturday. Neighbors sometimes put on quite a fireworks show; we're outside city unregulated county so can do anything. No fear of grassfires this year, been so wet. Hope he does some this year. We get a good view out south or west windows. No nasty skeeters that way. This year's crop are huge buggers and vicious. Sev. tried to bite me last night. Last year I had to drive into town, DD sick and we went to her doctor the next day. Nothing like Mama when you're hurting. She called tonight in a panic. Her router was down, could I look up service phone #. I guess she's never heard of 411??

Sorry about laptop Sassy. Maybe it's a easy fix. But then again it may
be bits 'n pieces are starting to fail and cheaper to get a new one.

Well, DD's router won't be in until Sat. From her internet provider. Think she's headed to Best Buy or somewhere tomorrow to buy one and put the one shipped in up. She uses her net for entertainment. She will go stark raving mad without her computer game until Sat. Said she was going to read a book and go to bed. She and you could commiserate Sassy.

Uggy morning.... got up early, cranky as usual whenever I have to set my alarm, and went over to FILs house to get a sneak preview at the work we'll have to do. (He was out of town at a band gig.)

First thing I did was spray all the nasty carpet with Lysol spray. That actually helped. Then we went out to look at the sheds DH told me we could use to store boxes in. Right. Three crappy, falling-apart sheds, packed to the rafters with filthy, spiderwebby, junk and boxes. I told DH it would take him and Dad a year to clean out enough space for new boxes to store, and in the meantime, the heat alone (108 this week) would kill them both. So on to plan B.

After Dad passes, we drag everything out onto the lawn. We open boxes just to make sure there's no hidden treasures, and leave everything out. We call 1-800-GOT-JUNK, just like they do on Hoarders, and have two big burly men haul everything off, including the giant pile of crap on the patio, and the gawd-awful packed-to-the-rafters garage. Ta DAAA!!!! Problem solved!

In the house today, we took pics and I took notes. We measured for new window coverings and I looked for furniture to repurpose. Since we already have permission to move Mom's things (she passed in January), we'll start with all her books and magazines and mail just sitting on the carpet and on every flat surface. Then we'll get all her decorations from every single holiday off the dining room table. At least, I THINK there's a table under there.

Once we do that, we can move on to the middle bedroom which was her craft and sewing room, saving the back bedroom for last. Dad is ready to move her things out, but he can't do it himself. That's why he asked us. Mom was 93, Dad is 92 and still living at home independently.

We have to pace ourselves, though. There is still a pile of stuff in our garage that needs to be gone through, and it's starting to bug me. At least we can roll the portable air conditioner out there while we work.

Woke up with a horrible pain in my tailbone this morning... had an acupuncture treatment this afternoon, and tonight I feel pretty good!

    NIghty-night, Owlettes!

Oh Smarty!  Cammi will be jealous! image

Yes, you ARE fabulous Nettie...  I am actually "fabulous" underneath the hair-color that I have used since I was 21...!  It's a wonder I have any hair....

And Fiercely,  I posted on that lonely thread of yours!  Did you ever get any help with that question?

I don't think anyone knew what you were talking about!  I wouldn't have, until that Cat popped up!

I've read that about the blue Merle's...  Ours was a mix, and both eyes were brown.... but I've SEEN the dogs with one eye blue!

And good tips for Sass's lap-top!  You sit cross-legged?  I can't do that!   You must be a lot younger than me!   I USED to be able to do the splits, walk on my hands, back-flips, and all sorts of acrobatic wonders....  but now I'm lucky to be able to WALK!  Ha, ha!

Sass, just so you will know, your computer team can't do a thing for your hearing loss!   Is it temporary?  Find out by taking a Claritin!  Maybe it is something as simple as allergies or ear-wax!

Oh MAN Blessings!  That sounds like no fun to me!  I sometimes watch Hoarders, and It's just pitiful, to watch how the people react!

Sorry you have to clean out all of their "things" and memories....

Sass.... don't worry...We will take care of you...  Do I have to walk you through the thought of un-plugging yourself from everything?   I went outdoors this morning a little while ago, and just sat there....  Not light out, but the little lights were on in my garden....

So I just relaxed, and enjoyed all that stillness, and nothingness!  Drank my coffee, and just thanked God for another day....  Go relax...xoxoxo

I was too far behind, so skipped a few pages....

Sunday we took a LONG drive - went over Snoqualmie Pass, up to Wenatchee, then to Quincy, south to Sunnyside, up to Yakima and then back over Snoqualmie.  We stopped at a couple of wineries to sample the goods (mostly I sampled,  as hubby was driving).  We didn't expect that apparently everyone in Western Washington had gone to the Eastern side, as the traffic on Sunday evening going back over the pass was stop and go, literally for hours.  Even with the awful return drive, it was a great day.  I took the camera, but never shot a single picture - which was a shame, as there was some truly gorgeous scenery.  But getting stopped in time to take a picture doesn't work real well when your moving fast...

We celebrated our anniversary yesterday.  Spent most of the day by the water, then went out to dinner.  Went to bed really early, as hubby went fishing this morning, and that means getting up around 3:30 (which is why I didn't go....  :)

I'm trying to get back into regular exercise, so did my obligatory 20 minutes on the treadmill this morning.  I have a phone call I need to make later, and then will choose between cleaning hour and weeding.  They both are in fairly dire straights, but I have a hunch the weeding is going to win, as the weather is simply beautiful here, today.

    Good morning everyone,

Chevy, I agree with you, it's really nice to sit in the stillness of the beginning of a day where the morning light hasn't quite broken thru. Good time to reflect and appreciate.

Blessings, I feel for you as you go thru all the 'stuff'. I am dealing with similar a thing with my mom. I went over and went thru some stuff that was old advertisements over a year old. So I gathered it all up and trashed it, and found out later mom went out to the trash, and brought it all back inside the house. I might have to wait until she passes to clean up her house. My brother refuses to even step foot inside her house. Good luck to you working in the heat. It's certainly not easy.

Love the dog and cat pics....and the morning coffee pics. Sas, hope you get computer problem solved soon.

    Hugs to all.

    Hey again gals!

Okay Cammi, I DO understand you most of the time, but I'll be damned if I understand THIS!

"Chevy good idea to sit in the cals first thing--OK I see I misspelled a word, but I don't even remember what the word was supposed to be--Chevy I'm glad u understand me, better than I do."

I don't think I am sittin' in the "cals".... am I?  I mean is that a chair?

What I thought I said was what I was DOing, which is what I thought I wrote!

I was sitting out back, on my little chair, by my little round table, just enjoying the stillness and darkness before the sun came up.   Drinking coffee....  and wondering how I am going to put this, so Cammi will get it.... Ha!

So our older neighbor called again... Now she wants one of us to go up there, when the plumbers come to un-plug her drain!  I mean does she think they will do something TO her?

Her Son said to call us, because he can't BE there for this one!  Her DIL just got back from taking her to her weekly beauty shop appt...  Tomorrow DIL takes her to the store, for shopping, then to give her a shower...

She ALSO has a house-keeper come in once a week, AND someone else takes her to Church, and another shower.    The Lawn-guy is always there for some reason TOO!  Another gal comes in to do her pedicure's...  Then goes to the home to do her Husbands!

And she calls when she is dizzy, or afraid, or just wants company.  She wants me to come get her and take her for walks now....

She is 90.... Her DH is in assisted living, so their Son also has to run and take her to see him a couple times a week.

They WANT her to give up her house!  They want her to go in some Senior Living somewhere... like her DH...in assisted living.   But so far, she absolutely refuses.

I think mostly because she is getting to be a PITA!    Everyone waits on her, and everyone goes over...  She has a call button also, and that's why we ran up there last week, because her Son called, after the service called him.....and she was dizzy...

She has high-blood pressure they finally figured out, after 3 trips to the Doctor.

Okay.... Am I being overly concerned for this PITA?   I mean SHE is busier than WE are, and I think she is just getting spoiled now!

I've known her since I was a kid...   and I don't know what else to do!

I mean if the Plumbers are going to attack someone, it will probably be ME, because , well.... you know....  Ha!

Her Son & his wife live like 30 miles from here, and have to take her places at least 4 times a week!

Okay, never mind.... I just wanted to let off steam.... I have to go now... I have to wait for those Plumbers... maybe I'll get attacked....Winking

Sass, I have hearing aids, because I can't hear hardly at all without them!  The technology IS very good!  And getting better all the time.  The tests are done, and they can program the hearing aids for YOUR hearing loss.

I know men are the stubborn ones, and even if they DO get them, they won't wear them, because sound is not the same .... as our own hearing!  But I would rather hear, than not!  I would never go out, without them.... anymore than my upper plate.... Ha!  OR my make-up, and my hair done.

Chevy - Maybe this is a call for DH and you. Maybe neighbor's son is afraid the plumbers are going to to rip him off on the plumbing job. Since he's the one who said to call you. If these guys have been doing her plumbing for years, what the heck? My GM had the plumber, heating man, AC man, you name it out to see about her stuff well into her early 90s. Nobody ever went to supervise. I think they all went to the same church so better not gip a fellow member. OR son wants to get the story straight about what's wrong - like has mom been stuffing stuff down the toilet/sink that doesn't belong. Sounds like she's an accident waiting to happen. Son will come to the realization of this hopefully b4 something devastating happens to her. (the plumber may be ammo in his arsenal to move her). She sounds like someone who would do well in Assisted Living. Social, mod. independent.

NO, no, no - you don't need to be taking her for walks. You who are recovering. Geesh - if she were to fall you could be liable. Or hurt yourself again. There is only so much a neighbor can do. Sounds like you are at that limit. Emergencies are one thing (so long as her dizzy spells are not hourly or even daily) - daily walks no way. Act like an invalid - limp (not to be confused with in-vah'-lid - ain't English great).

Luv, I agree that everyone doing everything for her is disguising the help she needs day to day. She may need a live in caregiver. She would probably enjoy assisted living. They usually have lots of activities for residents. All the fun without the responsibility. The ones I have been in were quite nice (and not the super expensive ones).

I'm so glad you guys answered!  When she asked me to take her for walks, I said, "Well, WE don't even go anymore!"  But we DID walk up to Starbucks today, and I did okay with my cane.

She said her DIL told her to tell me to take her for walks when I go...  I live about 5 houses from her...  And I could go get her, and walk her back down here, but I AM afraid she would fall!   Maybe if I take the walker up for her?  They loaned me their walker, because they had 2....  maybe I'll tell her she has to bring the walker when she walks with me!

She DOES need a care-giver.... maybe I'll bring this up to her...  They DO have plenty of money....  and that way she could stay in her home!

She USUALLY has her nephew come and do her plumbing work.... I don't know about this time...  I'm waiting for her to call....

Yes, she IS an accident waiting to happen.... I mean I am bad enough myself.... Ha!

She can hardly see.... has macular degeneration, and cannot read the paper AT all....  Honestly, if I were in her shape, I would not WANT to live there alone.

I think she thinks since she has so many people always coming around her, and taking her places, that she can do anything she wants.

She said she now pays her Son and DIL for what they do for her....  But they have to go see her CONstantly it seems like...   They are the ones who want her to be safe, and move where there is more supervisio....

I USED to take her to the store, shopping, but that was 2 years ago...  I was afraid THEN for her to walk across the parking lot, and in the store...  Now I have a cane, and so does she.... Loopy

Okay.... you are right.... best not to walk with her....  Her DIL is the one that suggested that...  SHE can take her for a walk.

FiercestBlue, what a lovely photo of you. My hair looks like a bubble or helmet head. I need it shaped desperately, but waited too long & hairdresser is out of town. I probably will go to someone else for a trim.

GardenG, you take the best road trips. I drove through there many years ago. Very pretty.

Blessings, sounds like a big job. One trash bag at a time....

Sas, I have no suggestions, cause I really am clueless when it comes to all this tech stuff. I do like my I Pad.

2nd, sorry you are dealing with all this. My folks & in-laws did not have those problems. But my parents both died in there 60s, so maybe they would have if the lived longer.

Just finished the USA vs Belgium game...not a huge soccer fan but it was a good game.

I slept today for about 2 hours, felt good. My step-mom took my little dd out to get nails done, lucky girl! But, the sleep was good. I fixed my clogged sink, but that kicked my butt.

DH is not a fix it guy, wish he was. Our other bathroom toilet is constantly running, I threatened today to hire a plumber. He won't want to spend the money maybe that'll get him motivated to try and fix it.

We are supposed to go to my step-brother's saturday to cele brate the 4th. He lives out in the country so we can do fireworks, I just hope to not feel to worn out. Oh my eyebrows are almosst gone now. I thought i was gonna get lucky and keep them, but I guess this last chemo had other plans.

Love you ladies...you brighten my day. I don't do a good job of addressing everyone's stuff, but I do read it. ((hus))

Hi gals, I've been awake and working I just turned my phone for voicemail-ARGGGGG to many people have such problems and of course they want everthing done today or tomorrow.

OK Chevy of course u can't take her for a walk, if u walk u have to take care of u'rself and not be responsible for anyone else anymore--that's whst u tell them but maybe nicer. LOL With that silver tongue of u'rs it will come out as a compliment so don't give it a worry. It's really up to the fsmily now to take charge or continue to placate her--is the a word??--Oh well

OK GG now I forgot is it u'r anniversary--well whoever is having one Congratulations.

Tang u can break down whenever u want but u have to unbreak u'rself quickly then it's OK. I break down at least once a day maybe 2x--I deserve to too LOL

OK I'm going to rest for awhile, chit I was just thinking if Chevy doesn't know what I said I wonder if my boos understand EVERYTHING.. Oy Vey

luvmygoats, my rat terrier is 20 lbs. He is really slowing down now that he is 13. He got Lymes disease when he was 3 and has had a seizure disorder ever since. He was born on Valentine's day and has a heart on him.

    image

Tang, you nap whenver you need to and don't feel guilty. Hubby should feel guilty for not fixing the leaky toilet. It's an easy fix, even I can do it. Probably just need a new float valve. There are lots of handy videos on Youtube to help him diagnose the problem.

HoleinOne, it is HOT here too! Someone turn the oven off outside! Seeing this photo of my dog makes me miss the winter.

Sas, hope Schatzi shots went well.

Cami, I don't know how you keep up. I'm supposed to head back to work soon and I am dreading it! I couldn't keep up when I was running full steam.

Has anyone heard from Chevy? Did the plumbers attack her? Send those crazed plumbers over to Tangs so they can fix her toilet!

FBB - My rattie has heart too but not as well defined as your's has. Terra - her name - her ears flop over 1/2 way which is kinda cute - they bounce. She is brown and white.

Why yes Cami placate is a perfectly fine word and you used it absolutely right.

Think Chevy is already in bed. Needs her beauty sleep.

Yes, we always have spare toilet innards in the closet for just such emergencies.

hi all! Busy 2 days... Lots to catch up on.

Blessings, oh my! Night mare is right! And in this heat! Please be careful. Little steps.

Smarty, hang in there! Waiting is no fun. Your great grand? I don't have grands (yet)...

GG, congrats on the anniversary! Sounds like a great trip! Wish there were pictures

Pawprint (almost wrote PP but that might be confusing with Patty P), are you feeling any better? Even a bit? Hot where you, I'll bet. Hoping you and the fur babies doing better.

Nettie, I'm with you on the nervous breakdown! Need to get that on scheduled.

Tang, at least you got some sleep, that's a step in the right direction. You rock, BTW! You've got so much going and you can unclog clogs too!

Gotta post now before I lose it all.

    Edited to add:

Sas, I agree with Hi1, I love my iPad for all things internet. Works great for FB, email,  BCO, searches, used to input daily time card info (back when I worked), only drawback is useless for word processing, creating and edited word files and spread sheets. Handy, quick, (relatively) inexpensive. We got Dad a kindle years ago, uses it only to read books, he just said otherwise a kindle is useless (for him) and loves the iPad. Might check into that.

FierceBB, was thinking adorable fur baby, didn't even see the heart! How special for the heart and the Valentine's birthday! What's his name btw?

So, my life is anything but dull! Went to a job fair with a friend yesterday (her DH recently passed away), she needs to re-enter the job market (she's a substitute teacher and needs something more regular). We made a day of it yesterday. Went to consult with a career coach today (state services) to see what they could offer (so far, not much). On the way, found out that my dad has decided he can't care for mom so we're starting placing her into assisted living (memory care). Problem is, she's too far gone to place her here at this community as planned will have to place her where she'll receive more care. Poor dad is totally distraught but we can't believe he's lasted this long. I checked out the new facility this afternoon, this is a BIG step. So, staying with dad tonight, will see what tomorrow brings. (Been thinking that maybe I'm meant to get mom settled before the job appears so I can have the time and energy now to care for both of them. Life gets complicated..... The 5th will be one year since last (revision) surgery.

Big THANK YOU for all your support. It makes my heart happy to know I can count on the family you've all become to me.

Chevy, Maybe it's time to have a word with DIL about it being inappropriate to tell her to call you for everything. It does sound like a live-in caregiver might be what she needs. Or move in with DS & DIL. I'll bet that's DIL's worst nightmare. Definitely catering to her every whim is giving her an unfair advantage - but it takes 2 to play that.

FBB, Great shot of your dog. It's not easy to photograph a white dog with a white background and it's clear as can be.
