Thanks Teka, I love birds but I in love with the hummingbirds. Wish I could draw more to my yard. I'm going to the book store in the next couple days and see if they have the guide you suggested. Otherwise, I will order it on line. -

dwill,
The guide I suggested was *Published November 10, 1983 Second Printing, March, 1985*. There should now be more up-to-date guides.

I am changing out a computer and I am finding some pix I haven't seen for a while.

We have a robin nesting just under our deck roof. We're cautiously optimistic because a couple of years ago we had a robin in the same nest until she was taken out by a hawk while looking for food in the yard. I'm hoping it goes well. It's a great spot for a nest, sheltered and difficult to get to.
-
this guy is hogging my hummers feeder
-
Nesting baltimore oriole?
-
How is the nesting robin?
-
Think it is a hooded oriole. His girlfriend is there too.
-
Yes, I could see the difference in photos on-line.Lovely bird!
-
Our robin is still sitting on the nest. DH saw another robin which looked like it was eating something from the nest. Then the Mom got back on and has pretty much stayed there. Her mate brings her food from time to time. Do robins attack each other's nests?
-
they are very skittish..a mere glimpse of movement and they take off...
-
I've noticed that baltimore orioles are also skittish.
-
I've never known of a robin to bother another robins nest.
-
DH wondered if the Dad was 2 timing and the other woman found out.
-
-
Waiting for me to leave
-
What kind of bird?
-
hooded oriole
-

Robin on our deck roof support. Hatching should be in the next 2-3 days. Fingers crossed.
-
You've an excellent view of the nest.
-
Yes, that was taken from the kitchen. Wanting to take photos finally convinced DH to clean the outside of the window (which I can' reach).
-
-
I went out looking for some birds today at the
But I think the birds have migrated..this is on the flyway..
but I did enjoy the beach..the surfers must have slept in
-
Wow, not 1 bird.
-
We had a major bird alarm this morning. Don't know if it was a hawk or eagle. It woke DH up, but he couldn't see what it was. Robins, chickadees and crows were in full voice with danger calls. Even the hummingbirds were upset. He said the crows were dive bombing something above our deck roof and evidently chased it off. I slept right through it. We got up at 4am to feed the bottle baby kittens and I was just wiped out, I guess. Nobody seems to be missing, so perhaps whatever it was didn't do any damage.
-
Teka, I did see some birds over the ocean. Just not on the wild life preserve.
Glad all are accounted for. Probably road kill.
