Nah, ducky, my mom wouldn't give me a perm because I had "allergies" and she was afraid my head would "break out" so of course whenever I can afford it, I get a professional perm because I hate my straight fine limp stringy hair. Well it'll be gone soon enough, eh?

I may not be twiggy, but I DO have Twiggy long eyelashes. One of my favorite things about myself.

Back when these were used you had 4 numbers, not 10, no area code, and if you dropped it, it could break your floor.....

OMG..I do remember people who had them, but my grandmother would not hear of it......she paid extra for a private line.........it was nuts you actually could hear the other person's conversation if you picked up the phone while they were on it.......LOL.........

I still had a party line when I lived in the country in 1989, although there was just one other neighbor on it. We would have had to pay thousands to have a line run about a 1/4 mile to have a private line.
-
Remember these???
Okay! How about these?

We had to dial 660-66 to get our party line. The whole neighborhood would be on it.
I remember 8 track tapes - also cassettes. I still have music cassettes.
Onco, What great exercise to have a job on roller skates.
Anyone remember these old sleds????
-
Anyone have one of these?
-
OMG.........Ladies .......I remember it all........see told you I"m the oldest......LOL....When I was 20 I worked for 8 Doctors in a private clinic.....this thing was called a Switchboard......talk about being an octopus.....LOL
-
Does anyone remember doing this.....Long distance was very expensive...so when someone would travel to let you k'now they got there .....they would call, make it Person to Person, and the other person on the end would say "she's not here"........this way you knew the other person arrived safely......LOL......talk about cheating the phone company....
-
I remember 8-tracks. This was my very first one. It's funny to me that my kids like their hit song too, like 38 years later!
Some things come full circle. My one son just bought a turntable and that album. -

Loved the picture of the switchboard operator. My first job was in an office and I was asked to train to be the backup switchboard operator when the receptionist needed a break. .....until I disconnected a few important executive phone calls and shocked myself! Fortunately I had other skills so I didn't lose my job over my inability to handle all the plugs and wires. Interestingly, I am a telecommuncations company executive now. heheFun thread! MsP

leggo, My son likes all the same music that I grew up with. We can talk for hours about music. I had that Boston album too. Now it's on my iPod!!
I remember that phone call trick Ducky! Now we have free long distance.
AZ, I do remember that Radio Flyer wagon. Although, I didn't have one
-
Who remembers this...my son had one, and my grandchildren...my husband put wooden blocks on the pedals so they could reach them to pedal it.....LOL...still have one in the shore attic from my now 16 year old grandson......
-
What about this......we took the clicker out cause the thing was too damn noisy...took the fun away, but that noise drove me nuts...especially when there were 6 kids on them behind the house.....LOL...The damn Big Wheel......
