I've been keeping to
the calorie limit pretty well, I think the bounce up in weight is from poor
choicesof high salt foods on a couple
of days. We'll see over the next few days,
I guess!Badger--great way to
look at mistakes!Zogo--Congrats on
13000 steps!Patoo--movement
every day, terrific!Badger--I think it
was a Maxine cartoon that said "don'tunderestimate the thermal advantage of not shaving your legs for a
week!" -

hi
all ~ Roadrunner checking inlate check-in = 1 point
Weight up = 0 points
Exercise = 15 points
Daily H2O = 7 points
Extra credit = 0 points – I am not taking any extra
credit this week because I totally blew my diet.
Got a huge project at work so been eating at my desk, hitting the
vending machine for an afternoon snack, indulging in the treats that people
brought to work (rhubarb crisp yummy), and ‘rewarding’ myself with a bowl of
ice cream after a late supper. I've gained five pounds in one week. How is that possible? We wrap
up the project next week but I will do better. I must do better. Cali in three weeks!Total = 23
-
Zogo--it does indeed
feel like spring, finally! I'm lovin'n it!A 26 hour chicken broth?WOW!!!!
What a great thing to have in the freezer.Good for you!Patoo--congrats and
Way To Go for maintaining the May challenge! Keep strong!Badger--Ok, so the
diet didn't go well this last week.I
say give yourself 1 extra credit point for admitting to that, examining what
happened, and acknowledging the consequences. Now use that as motivation to get back in the saddle, so to speak.I struggle with reward eating and know how
hard it is to not do that after a very busy, long, stressful or hard day.OK, I'm 4 weeks into
logging my intake on My Fitness Pal.I
started with no expectations of sticking to a calorie count or logging any
exercise, the goal was to get into the habit of logging my intake.Along the way I have made an amazing
discovery--I can lose weight without huge changes in my eating habits.I have always associated losing with totally
changing how I eat, since I obviously eat "wrong" since I'm
obese. But I like the way I eat, and
changing that has been a losing battle for decades. In the last 4 weeks I have found that paying
attention to what I eat and thinking about my choices, logging my foods and not
being fanatical about the calorie count thing has led to an unexpected
benefit--I have lost some weight!I am
still eating what I like, but paying much more attention to my hunger. If I'm not hungry, I don't feel obligated to
eat just because it is meal time.If I'm
hungry and it's not meal time, I will get something to eat, but not a full
meal.I am finally learning to truly
understand portion sizes.All from just
establishing a habit of logging what I eat!Am I totally dense for having missed this all these decades????Ok, now every one can laugh with me at
myself! -

Hmm, it seems that running out of blood pressure pills affects water retention. Keeping to the calorie count pretty well, so it must be the pills, right?

OK, I can see a definite effect of eating things with too much salt/sodium. Didn't think I was that sensitive to sodium. But since the calorie count is pretty stable that's the only thing that can account for the weight gain that I can think of.
-
Good Morning,
Friday ~ 3
Water ~ 6
Wt (!55.8 up slightly) ~ 0
Exercise ~ 8
Ex Credit ~ 1 I went to my lipidologist for high cholesterol. Told her about my passion for low carb and one of the dishes I make (Jalapeno Popper Cauliflower Casserole). She asked for the recipe and some links to LC sites I recommend. I'm glad she approves and advocates this way of eating.
Total ~ 18

OK, I am going nuts here. I weigh myself daily (yeah, I know, shouldn't) and my weight is swinging from 226 to 234 over the course of a week. I am logging my intake and the only changes I have made recently is switching from diet soda to unsweetened ice tea, and having at least one veggie with every meal I eat out, which is almost every day at lunch. So why the wild swings in weight? Sigh.
-
hi gang, just back from a BCO sisters vacation in California. What a great time and we got to meet Meece! Check out the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread for pix and stories. Start @ page 680.
NM, the only thing that springs to mind is something a presenter said at a wellness workshop I attended. It was her opinion that when we lose pounds within a short amount of time, it's not from 'water weight', it's from pooping (sorry for the yuck factor). Remember last month when I gained 5 pounds in a week? Well I lost it fast but it took a few days of normal eating and healthy guts if you know what I mean.
See you birdies Friday if not sooner. ♥
-
NM, don't know about the swings in weight. Maybe there are wild swings in the salt at restaurants?
Badger, that trip looks like a blast! Thanks for pointing us to the pictures.

surviving Eduardo’s Sweat class LOL.Total = 31

Good Morning, Well, I'm at that weight where I get stuck. It seems even though I'm staying low carb, I have to really watch my calories or I can't move down. And this week I was up almost 2 lbs. Grrr. Guess I need to Eat more Like A Bird. Tweet.
Did you see the cover of Time Magazine? It has a picture of butter on the front. Word it finally getting out that saturated fat is good for you. I even got my local market to find my favorite chocolate sweetened with Stevia.
Friday ~ 3
Water ~ 7
Wt (155.6) ~ 0
Exercise ~ 7
Extra Credit ~ 1 Today marks the three year anniversary of my eating low carb. I started this journey at around 193 lbs and have lost 36 lbs. I've done tons of research and truly believe this way of eating reduces my risks of cancer, heart disease, dementia and diabetes.
-
Hey gang, I have been driving myself crazy with the whole weight thing the last few weeks, so I am going to take a few weeks off from it. I'm not going away for good, just for a few weeks to concentrate on establishing some better housekeeping habits, then I will come back to the better eating habits development process. Good luck to all of you in the meantime!
See you later~
