Good luck on the C25K.  Tried it once and was doing okay then fell off and haven't picked it back up.  Since I will miss Eduardo have no worries LOL!  I have started to sprint a few feet every now and then when out walking.

Thanks, patoo!  It's not expensive to sign up ($20 for the one last week, $25 for the one next month) and you get a cool t-shirt.  It's usually cheaper to register to walk versus run.  Probably because the runners compete for prizes and need a timer chip and race bib.  I like the festive community feel of people doing the 3.1 miles together, whether running, walking, or both.  Picking out someone to pace is a good way to move faster than I would alone.  I'm still "just" power walking, no jogging yet, but I do go fast and break a sweat.

    Zogo--those
    cheesecake bars sound yummy!

    Patoo--logging makes
    a huge difference, doesn't it?Amazing
    how that works.

    Badger--good for
you!I never realized you could sign up
to walk a race, I've never really looked at them 'cuz running and my knees
don't get along well, but I do try to walk fairly regularly.Especially when I can take the dog with me!

Native, yes logging does work wonders.  Some 5K's are billed as 'runs' but there are also many that are both run and walk.  Most of them are fundraisers, hence the $20-$25.00 fee, and you do get a t-shirt usually if you sign up in advance.  You can usually also just show up and register on the day of the event but the t-shirt is not guaranteed.  As badger says it's nice to just be among people and pick out someone moving faster than you and try to keep up which makes you go faster.  Lots of fun.  Saw there's one in the neighborhood park in 2 weeks so think I will 'crash' that one.

I'm happy to join the Elab. I've really got to restrict my calories as I'm not able to exercise (waiting on a hip replacement).  just finished chemo and almost done with radiation - so fatigued. Have gained 20 lbs.   Currently I'm 159. Goal is 140.  Having trouble eating less than 2000 cal.  Just lying in bed/TV due to hip pain and fatigue. Boredom, anxiety and anger get the better of me and I eat.  My daughter has named my new belly, 'Tom'.

Welcome Dokta-J.  You are still a baby on this journey having only been on this road a few months.  You've been through a lot so please be kind to yourself.  Yes, exercise is difficult but whatever you can do, no matter how little, is a goal you can attain.  If you are not already, consider an anti-depressant to help you get through.  But definitely come to this or any of the other threads at anytime and you will find many, many friends who will walk with you and cyber-hold your hand.

patoo, thx for your kind and helpful words.  I think I could handle doing some abs. Achieving a goal will help me feel more in control.  Hugs back

Hi all and welcome Dokta-J!  I also gained 20 pounds during chemo.  It took me a couple of years but I lost that weight.  Now working on the old stubborn fat LOL.  Chipping away slowly but steadily.  This thread and the wonderful ladies who hang out here helped me with accountability and support.  Eat a little better, move a little more, drink more water, rest and heal.  Above all, be kind to yourself.  ♥

    Dokta--welcome,
    lotsof support and accountability here,
and lots of good info, too! There are a
lot of videos and such for sitting exercises, usually marketed to older folks, butcan help us younger ones when mobility is
    limited.Maybe your insurance will cover
a Physical Therapy referral so you can get a personalized exercise program?Nothing like a personalized plan to show
    progress!

    Badger--good advice!

    Zogo--you have my
    sympathy on your cousin's death.Funeral
    arrangements are so stressful.4 years
of stage 4 lung cancer is remarkable, indeed.
