Day 115-A: grateful it's raining! The weather was cool today and was perfect for homemade split pea soup

Sing with me, "it's 5 O'Clock on a Saturday" am that is, and I haven't slept a wink all night. I had forgotten the wonderful side effect of the inhaler, it wires you up. I'm not even sleepy, but I am having second thoughts about not getting the codeine cough syrup script filled because it knocks me out. That's sounding pretty good now. :)

    Yikes, Susie....

I am grateful because I was able to have a long, catch-up phone conversation with one of my oldest, dearest friends.

Susie, that would have been more fun! Afraid to fall asleep now because I have to leave around 10 (in 3 hours) to meet some BCO ladies for  lunch, afraid I'll never wake up in time

Day 15...I'm grateful today that a local high school elected Hannah as their Prom Queen last night. It's especially awesome, because Hannah has Down's Syndrome. It's so good to see young people joining together to do something so unforgettable for one of their classmates.

4/26- grateful to have slept well and have the energy to participate in some Earth Day activities going on today in my community. Going to participate in a neighborhood clean up and also stop by a recycled products expo!

That is so sweet. My son had a classmate named Sonny who had Down Syndrome in his class throughout school, they elected him prom king too. As far back as I can remember, like the elementary room mom years, the kids loved him and looked out for him. Lots a little moma and daddy's making sure Sonny had 2 cupcakes, because Sonny really loved cupcakes. Sonny was a very lovable boy, it sounds like Hannah must be a very lovable girl too.

Today I'm grateful that when the Dr called with the results of yesterday's tests that I don't have mets, which I wasn't worried about anyway, but it puts it into perspective that I only have pneumonia and she thinks the antibiotics by mouth will clear it up so no hospital unless it gets worse.

Isn't it crazy when you're grateful that you 'only' have pneumonia? I felt that way too when I 'only' had a hernia. Definitely puts things in a different perspective!

    April 26,

Hi all, today I am grateful for a visit I got from my mom. She was very stressed and I was able to ease that a bit. Hugs'n'kisses.

Susie, so happy for the news! Did I understand a doctor called you on a Saturday? You're special!  Only pneumonia? Does put it in a different perspective.

Onco, couldn't find the post from Jazzygirl you're referring to.

Day 116: grateful we had a lot of rain (and wind) last night but it was so clear, cool and sunny today. Very thankful to meet 3 local BCO ladies for lunch today, then a refreshing nap (after only 2 hours sleep). The best part of today was some very kind words from a BCO friend who raised my spirits by showing a little appreciation, and is rapidly becoming someone I look forward to hearing from.

Thanks Maddy, the Drs office is actually open half a day on Saturday here, I'm glad too so you don't have to wait the entire weekend for news.

I'm grateful to have slept last night. That good old dose of NyQuil I added knocked me out, even with the breathing meds on board.

Grateful for some of the silly games a person can find. Since I am still in my nightgown, wearing no pants at all, I guess my band would have to be 'Naked Chocolate'!

    April 27 Day 127,

Today I am super grateful to have booked my June trip to Italy. I have always wanted to go, thought I would go when I retired but my dx changed a lot of things and waiting to do something I've been dreaming of was one of them.

Susie, very glad it was 'only' pneumonia. And no hospital! Yay.

Jazzy, would you mind sharing the message that Onco is referring to?

Maddy, BCO friends are the best. I'm glad you got to have lunch with some of them and got some well-deserved appreciation from another.

    Hugs'n'kisses

    Deb

Yesterday grateful I was able to transfer my prescriptions back to Costco easily, I had transferred them to another place but they changed and would only give me 30 days at a time and I  like the 90 day option BUT I was at Costco so while I waited there went another $100. Today grateful for a good nights sleep.

Red how exciting, it's on my bucket list well be looking forward to armchair traveling with you. Maddy I agree BCO friends are the best, I was thinking earlier this morning only 5 weeks and some of us from the Lets Post our Daily Exercise thread will be getting together for the 4th time, we've had adventures in Minneapolis, Chicago and Washington DC and this year it's San Francisco .

Day 117: grateful I woke up earlier enough to make DD a breakfast burrito before she left for work (that poor girl goes to work/school/hospital internship 6-7 days a week, don't know her last complete day off). Today, I am that I have a dependable vehicle to drive (whether it's my car or DH's truck), may not be new but very dependable.

Ruth, I would be Black Burrito. Love Naked Chocolate!

Susie, wonderful you have doctors that get back to you on a Saturday instead of waiting till Monday.

Red/Deb, I will live vicariously thru you (and others) on your vacation.

Cheryl, only 5 weeks? Will be here before you know it! Wishing I could get my exercise to a level where I would consider posting to others.

Here is one of my very favorite poems. It is by Leonard Cohen, and is along the same lines as Jazzy's post.

"Ring the bells that still can ring.

    Forget your perfect offering.

There is a crack in everything.

That's how the light gets in. "

Maddy, she's right. As I posted I felt better about what I have accomplished. Come join us. There are a bunch like us, just starting, and others who do marathons. It doesn't matter, we do what we each can do!
