grateful for a fun day of subbing at my old school; 6th grade social studies where we got to talk about gladiators, chariots races, and life in ancient Rome all day....don't know if the kids would say they were grateful, but I enjoyed it!
-
Red, the 18th will be a triple special birthday for you....57, '57' and DONE!
-
Ruthbru - I am sure they loved it. I have a 5th grader. That kind of thing is right up his alley. My mom and my aunt were teachers/administrators : )
Tonight our house is NOISY with happy kids. I am SO grateful just to be here to hear it. My oldest son has 5 friends in the basement laughing right now and my daughter has her best friend who just got in town this evening (she moved away last summer). My daughter screamed when the little girl's mom drove up - the kids were in the cul-de-sac hugging and crying their eyes out they were so happy to be together again. Tomorrow is the school dance, and we are the "afterparty" house...which translates to I am picking up all the girls from the school dance and bringing them home for a sleepover. Can't wait. I SO appreciate these delicious simple pleasures now.
What a great day.
-
Red. you are a very lovable nerd - glad you're feeling better today.
Onco~ I started ice skating again after about 35 years. It was the first exercise I got after chemo. I fell a couple times but they were really slow falls.
-
geewhiz, what fun! I loved all those 'house full of kids' days! That is the reason I do some subbing, to get my 'kid fix'. Enjoy!
-
Day 59: I am grateful that it is winter, with the windows closed, rain and wind blowing - there was a lot of shouting in my house last night (DD up at 3:45 am, came home exhausted, "DH" was loudly screeching this odd, uncomfortable noise so DD asked him nicely to stop which got him going more. BIG meltdown, and DH was acting like a jerk). Lucky my neighbors didn't hear and call the police.
Red, that will be a very happy day, indeed!
Onco, you are brave, very brave! I wouldn't be up to trying ice skating. Not even skiing with a softer place to land.
Chrissy, great photo! Looks like you had a wonderful time
-
Pooh I'm the one on the left!
2nd I had a fabulous time!
Today I am grateful to have reached a town called Balranald safely........it is just over half way home and now it is time for a good nights sleep before I head for home in the morning.
-
chrissyb...... thanks ....nice to put a face to the name !!.......
Red ........hope your feeling better today ?
Grateful.....for ....hummmmmm.....gotta think about this today......HOT baths ...........love soaking in a hot bath ...so hot my butt is beet red for an hour after ....
-
I am grateful because tonight a good friend is taking us out to dinner (her treat) and then we are going to go to what will be a really fun college basketball tournament game....there will be rowdy fans, high intensity play, and great popcorn
.
-
Pooh, are you sure you aren't my twin by another mother? We like so many of the same things!
Chrissy, Yay to facetime. That's a great picture! Hope you are well rested for the rest of the trip home.
Ruth, I think geewhiz was right. Grade 6 is what, 11 and 12 year olds? That subject is definately right up their alley! Glad you had such fun getting your 'kid fix'.
Geewhiz, I love those times too, although, now that I am older I don't get them too often. So glad for your DD getting to see her friend again.
Onco, I would be worried about falling while skating. Tried roller skating again a few years back and fell and broke my elbow. Still can't straighten it all the way. So no, I won't be skating. Lol.
Maddy, sorry about the blowup at your place. Husband's have been know to be jerks for no apparent reason. Go figure. Hope today is better.
Day #60
Today I am grateful to be going to see Phillip Phillips in Vancouver on March 28. I am going for a conference and dragging my DH along. Last night he asked if there were any concerts going on while we were going to be there and voila! So we now have ticket in the third row!
-
grateful that I found this picture to dream about.....summer will have to come sometime!
-
Ooooo. I want this house!!!! What a great place to grow old in. I can see grandkids playing, kids barbecuing while dad and I sit on the porch sipping lemonade!!
-
Maddy - Hang in there! DH and DD need a reminder that YOU do not need any additional stress. Your health and well being come first.
I am grateful that some of my taste buds are working!
-
Ah. A day I have been waiting for. Today I get to say I am grateful for two months without practicing that nasty habit.
-
Yay Ziggy!!! Good for you. I was going to ask, but was worried to, just in case. You've been ice skating too? Brave girl! Congrats on 2 months.
-
I am grateful for my family.
I'm coming up on my 1 year since dx - I am grateful to be alive.
-
I am grateful I was able to go for a walk today, even though the
beautiful spring weather from earlier this week didn't stick around for
long. -
Red... wishing you the best possible outcome with your rads. So glad that is behind me. Really did love my RO. She is a wonderfully, funny young woman who is filled with compassion and concern.
Grateful for all the Netflix movies that DH and I enjoy. Each Friday night is movie night with our best friends, a wonderful, fun couple that we met at church. So very grateful to have these new friends who bring such joy.
-
Good job, zig!!!!

-
Thank you Red and Ruth. Red I haven't been skating lately - had my exchange surgery about a month and a half ago and for some reason I was getting really super short of breath - had to have a chair just to take a shower or I would pass out for sure. It's slowly getting better (good thing I'm not smoking I guess), but it's going to be a while before I can skate again as the cold air makes it worse. BUT, I am going to swim laps in Florida! Yay!
-
Day 60: grateful for my long naps, DH was bored so he cleaned the kitchen while I slept. Also grateful we're getting a little break in the rain so some water can sink in or disappear before the next rain storm.
Ziggy, so happy for you! Hopefully, you've kicked the habit for good!
Curve, glad you got out today.
Ruth, thanks for the photo, a prompt for day dreaming.
-
I'm grateful for cake.
-
Ummm, yum, cake.
-
yum, chocolate cake has been on my mind all day, feel like you're all reading my thoughts
-
Zig, YAY you!!!!!!!! 2 month up how fantastic!!!! Keep up the good work, you are doing so well!
Onco, they say that we all have a double elsewhere in the world so it sound like your friend is mine......lol. A meet up would be a great idea!
Today I am grateful that I have safely delivered my SIL to her house and I have one more day before I return to mine.
-
Day #61
Today I am grateful to have spent the evening at my niece and nephew-to-be's Stag and Doe. It was fun and I got to see a lot of the family from up north that I haven't seen since the fall.
-
Grateful today that I have learned to use the word "NO" and the sentence "Sorry that just doesn't work for me right know but maybe another time" .
Its soooo liberating........
red ..I looked up who Philip Philips was.....I guess I didn't watch enough TV last year ...hes' awesome ...found him on you tube .

There's a small private college in our town, whose sport teams we follow (DH is an alum. He was a poor farm boy and went there on a track scholarship, so it is near to his heart). Their men's basketball team (very young coach, and a very young team who play with passion and wild abandon) is playing in a tournament & last night we went to their game. Their rivals were big, mean guys who played 'street ball' style (running right over you, elbowing, shoving etc.) and their fans were very mean too; chanting things like "you suck, you suck", and 'over-rated, over-rated' when our best player had the ball. We trailed the whole game, but with three minutes left, we made a bunch of three pointers, stopped the other team from scoring, and won the game! So I am grateful that the 'good guys' won!
