Thanks for the puppy update, Sciencegal.

And shoppygirl, I love those boots.

Haven't been on much lately. But I think about all of you and send love and positive thoughts. My son is spending more days with me, now that I'm feeling a little better, and I'm giving him every ounce of energy I have, because I don't know how long I will be here, and he won't be 15 forever. It's such a blessing to be well enough to have him stay with me, although the daily routine tires me, so I haven't had time to log in. Bought some silver Ralph Lauren loafers. Happy shopping everyone.

    hello everyone!

It's been a month since ANYONE has posted and I was last?? Ladies, please, tell me you've bought something to lift your spirits!! Let's hear about it!!

I had my PET scan at Sloan-Kettering yesterday. Today I did a little shopping. Wasn't planning on buying but went to Sephora, where's there's always something calling my name. While in the store, I lined my bottom lash line with shiny peacock green-blue and applied pink lipstick and new perfume! I had lots of fun playing with makeup!

Please share your shopping finds!! Hugs to all.

    Hello everyone!

Rhonda, I see you bought some Urban Decay makeup. I love that brand!  I hope everything goes well with the results of your PET. Are you still on the Tamoxafin ? I know you mentioned last time that you were having some success with it. I hope that continues for you. My hubby has a big scan coming up in April and fingers crossed,he will continue to be NED.  Before  that we are going to Florida with the kids for two weeks! I am so excited. Of course I plan on hitting the outlet malls!

    Voracious

I wish I was in Manhattan today!  New York is one of my most favourite places to visit.

Bought a few jean skirts lately. One is a Lucky Jeans brand 70's style longer skirt w/ a higher waist--love it! Bought some black tall boots from a local store, 2 T-shirt dresses from Target & a few other things from Target. OH! And a fabulous navy/white print beach-y shift dress from the Quick Silver store in Lake Tahoe (we went there last weekend..;) It's darling!

I now want/NEED new sandals/flats/flip-flops...and some comfy cotton capri leggings...in navy/nude/black/white...Hard to find the energy to shop when I'm losing sleep from these damn nightsweats!!!!!

Glad to see you are all finding some gems!

    Hi Girls,

I have been buried in work deadlines and no time to shop, so am quite boring right now. My hubbie did buy a new hammock though and strung it between two of our huge orange trees in the back yard, near the pool, for me to chill out after my deadlines were done.

It is not only useful but it just looks so cute and tropical, when I look out from the kitchen window (it is cobalt and turquoise stripes- apparently just $12 at Big Lots). I am planning to go out there and test it out soon with a book but wanted to check in here first, as I have been out of touch for so long.

Ronda how were your scans? I am scared to ask, but I think about you a lot.

Violet I hope you get some relief. Have they suggesed any supplements for you? Poor thing. I love Lake Tahoe as well, I hope you wer able to enjoy it in spite of your sleep deprivation.

    Hugs

    Hi everyone--

I am new to this thread, but it is a great idea. Since my BMX I have made it a policy to treat myself, and only to things I love or find really pretty (I'm not frilly at all, but things I like) as opposed the more practical things I would have chosen before. I went shopping yesterday after my appointment with my surgeon, and got jeans, the panties I like (rather than the very practical multi-pack I usually buy lol), and several tops. The only downside is that now I want to keep shopping. LOL.

    Welcome, aunt paula!

Not much shopping here lately (paying for my new nipples. Lol), but over the past month or so I've scored:

2 of my favorite summer dresses from Eddie Bauer. SOOOOOO comfy!!!

A hula hoop to add some fun to my workouts.

An arm band thingy to hold my phone while DD and I train for our first 5k. (NOT a runner, here!)

A really cute scarf from a flea market.

And some cotton yarn because I'm crocheting my mom a set of Knitted Knockers.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

    Hula hoops? Awesome, Dulcigirl!

I bought a running skirt with shorts underneath (company name is SparkleSkirts) and the shorts have huge pockets for phones and keys and stuff. Useful and cute.

I have been shopping WAYY too much and haven't been on the boards as much because I've been shopping online. I have very tiny closets so this week I'm going to get rid of some old things to make way for some new things.

I bought a Ralph Lauren strapless black silk dress with a white sash that I THINK I will use as a birthday dress (I turn 50 in May) but I might have to buy a couple of other dresses, because a girl needs choices!

Sciencegal, thanks for asking about my scans. I was at Sloan-Kettering 2 weeks ago and the scans show no new tumors in my lungs, lymph nodes, bones, etc. Some of the tumors are shrinking. This is just on tamoxifen. So yay!! The tamox is very fatiguing but at least my bones don't hurt as with the AIs. Reconstruction surgery on my left breast is scheduled for April, and at the same time I will have a little tumor (skin mets) removed from under my right arm. This is the second underarm skin met that has popped up. Very annoying, considering the rest of my cancer is behaving itself and the skin mets are going a little crazy. I am looking forward to being done with wearing a prosthesis, and can get back to wearing cute bras.

I hope everyone is doing OK. Gentle hugs to everyone.

I am so glad that I found this thread. I thought I was the only one. Last summer, when I was heavenly drugged on chemo and narcotics, I apparently went on a heck of a shopping spree. A couple of months after coming out of the heaviest fog, I started finding bags stuffed in my closet. Oh, yes--drug-induced shopping sprees. I found costume jewelry, scarves, and tops. It was like a holiday in the fall! I had no memory of purchasing these items. I recently came across a Michael Kohrs bag on a clearance table at Dillard's. Before BC, I would have never spent so much money on a bag for myself. I would have bought it as present for one of my daughters, but never for myself. However, I saw that bag, decided it would make me feel better, and bought it for ME! I love it! I feel like a boss when I carry it on my arm. It's amazing what a new bag can do for your attitude.

Thursday while searching for a silver clutch for DD's dance I found a very cute sign. At the next store I scored a pair of heels for $10! (Yes, I did finally find her purse AND had a $10 off coupon in my phone.) Yay me!!! One of those rare, wonderful deal days.

    Awesome Dulci!!

I am just back from a trip to the keys for my brothers wedding and got a couple of ankle bracelets to replace mine that had worn out and two darling "junk jewelry" sparkly necklaces- one starfish and a tiny silver dolphin. Cheap but I love them and am wearing them together, with my star-shaped "glitter bandage" over my port. (the bandages keep people from asking "what is that" in a bathing suit or sundress- might as well bling that up as well, right???)

I hope everyone is doing well. Ronda I am happy to read your news about the scans!

    hugs

sciencegal, I'm glad you had a good time in the keys. That was quite a travel distance!

I've been indulging my 16-year-old son. Bought him some tie-dyed Vans, swim trunks and some Ralph Lauren dress shirts. He likes nice clothes and I remember how happy I felt when I was his age and received something nice.

I'm in Savannah recuperating from fat grafting to reconstruct my left breast. I might be 50 but I'm still going to get a new bikini to celebrate having 2 similar sized boobies again.

That is awesome Ronda, glad to hear about treating your son, the fat grafting, and especially about the upcoming bikini purchase! I actually wore one in the Keys, first time since my three surgeries, chemo and rads- it felt good to get some sun on my torso after two years. My body is not back completely to my pre-BC shape but passable, especially with the right top. No one gagged at least.

    Have fun bikini shopping!

    Hugs

I'm new to this thread.  I love it.   My interest in shopping in physical stores comes and goes in proportion to my energy level but even when I'm beat I love a good online bargain.   I enjoyed spoiling my eldest for her 18th -- with a new computer.  My 11 yo son recently went thru every shoe and boot in the house to find something to fit him -having grown 2 sizes in like 2 weeks.  He found a pair of black sneakers with pink soles that my middle daughter outgrew to hold him over.   I went to the mall with the intention of getting him new shoes but I didn't make it that far.  I stopped in Talbo'ts -- a women's clothing store and got a new skirt, blouse and jacket -- for me to wear for my eldest's upcoming HS grad.   I was too tired after trying on all the new clothes to shop for boys sneakers after that.  I had to venture out to get him shoes a few days later as the guilt of not having gotten him new shoes was gnawing at me. In addition to boys sneakers in the right size,  I found myself two nice 2 piece Lands End bathing suits which cover my scars pretty well too.   Very satisfying.

    Thread newbie.  Retail therapy expert.

I believe I own the majority of the Banana Republic spring line.  And I am a Rouge VIP at Sephora.

As that wasn't enough, I just bought a new car.  Looking for 2nd job now.....

I have been on an online shopping spree for the past several days, and it is not like me, but really fun. (I have to throw in, because I am actually very practical, that almost everything was on sale.) I ordered three dresses, two or three pairs of pants, and several tops, all of which I needed, but wouldn't normally get. Since my surgery I am very conscious of buying only things I love, and I have a few more things in another shopping cart that I'm waiting to decide about (but one is a beautiful blouse that I think I'm pretty much set on.... lol). Now on to shoes!

Well ladies I have been working so much after going back to work beginning of this year haven't had my dose of "retail therapy" for quite some time. I was making a habit of shopping everytime I had aan apt with my PS prior to exchange during fills.  However that will change as tomorrow I am off work and my daughter are going to the Bloomingdales Outlet store by us and then whatever other stores that we decide on ;)

Will post if I find any great purchases!!

This thread is clearly my spiritual home here at BCO. To celebrate reaching the halfway point in chemo, I dropped $400 and change on this right here:

    image

But to be fair to myself, Bloomingdales gave me $100 off the $498 retail price this weekend, and I used my Bloomies card, so I got free shipping and loyalty points. Why did I need a silver Kooba bag? I'm not really sure. Give me a few days, and I'll see if I can come up with a reasonable explanation. In the meantime, feel free to applaud the restraint I showed by not buying the matching wallet.

Special thanks to sarahjane for making me feel less like a freak for the whole VIB Rouge thing.

Ooooooh  Nina.  Beautiful bag.  And I do applaud your restraint in resisting the wallet.  Not sure I would have been able to, especially considering the bargain you got .    Can't think of a better way to mark the halfway point in chemo.  Congratulations on that!

One thing that helps me to rationalize my somewhat-occasionally-perhaps in some people's opinion-excessive-purchasing is that I can sell my gently used stuff on eBay.  I'm helping out another sister with her own Retail Therapy while spending down my PayPal balance.  Feels kind of like free money.  Win-win.

The silver Kooba is gorgeous, NinaW. I think the color is very seasonless, and gives off a happy vibe, too. Enjoy!!!!

Part of Stage IV is simply not having the energy to change purses every day to match what I'm wearing. So the bag I carry every day has to be beautiful, and I think a bag like the one that you bought is worth every penny.

Mz Mes, welcome to the thread! I go through the same fatigue when shopping in stores, I feel your pain. And the same guilt with my kids. You have some great shopping malls in your area. I'd get worn out too, if I lived there. : - )

I had some reconstruction surgery last week, and needed to buy some compression garments yesterday. It took me 2 hours just to try on a few things in one store, and I came home so tired, I was crying. Ugh.

I hate spending money on ugly "girdles" and bras. My boobs have been 2 different sizes since 2008, I am ready to kick my prosthesis out the window and buy sexy stuff, but I have to wait. I enjoy online shopping the most because I can do it at 3 am. I'm hooked on resale apps like Poshmark and ThredUp.

I have a VIP credit on ThredUp for $15 to share with all of you! It's free money to spend on clothes! Many of the clothes on ThredUp are new. I got a silk Ralph Lauren skirt, turquoise and royal blue, for $20, with tags attached! The ThredUp VIP $15 credit is  good until May 15. I get a discount when you use this code, so please try it out! You can't go wrong with $15, they have THOUSANDS of clothes for $5 and $10 and you can use that to pay for shipping, too, so you don't have to pay a dime.

The code is http://www.thredup.com/r/VV0P2Q. I'm going to create a separate listing, for those who don't read this discussion.

Please note that when you sign up at ThredUp for an account, there isn't any popup that says you have a $15 credit. You have to choose an item and put it in the shopping cart, then you will see the $15 credit.

NinaW, I'm not a Rouge VIP at Sephora, but I'm close. I had my very last department-store makeup-counter encounter last week. Rude clerk at the Clinique counter at Macy's. Clinique raised the price of their minimum purchase required for the bonus gift by $1, so my big bottle of moisturizer no longer qualified. That's not the clerk's fault, but she was so rude when I asked for help choosing another product so I could get the gift. She told my mom that Clinique no longer made her foundation color. My mom had to show her where it was in the counter, and the clerk didn't even apologize. My mom and I both left feeling like we'd eaten a lemon sandwich. I love going to Sephora, because they have employees of all shapes, sizes and colors. No one ever gives me the stink eye if I want to try on 15 different tubes of lipstick.

Happy shopping ladies. Thanks for sharing. I love to hear of your conquests.

Michelle! Ugh, I'd love to be able to say I'm the type of woman who would willingly spend the energy to change bags all the time to match what I'm wearing, but it would be a lie - I've been lugging around the same old Marc Jacobs bag for the past three years, regardless of the season or my wardrobe. I'm going to encourage you to go silver, too - it looks like you made an effort when in reality, no effort was made

Have you checked out the Spanx Haute Couture line for shapewear? As girdles go, they're on the pretty side, and while outrageously expensive on the Spanx site, I've definitely seen them at reasonable prices on eBay.

Those department store makeup counter wenches are the worst. There's always that pressure and upsell going on with them because of the commission thing, and they act like they're doing you the world's biggest favor simply by acknowledging that you've been standing at the counter waiting for them for fifteen minutes. I think they only thing they've got over a place like Sephora is that they usually have all of the shades in stock, so if you need something really specific and are in a time-crunch, they're probably the best option. But the whole Sephora Rouge thing is a joke - it doesn't get you anything "special", really, aside from free shipping. They do carry Clinique, though, and if you buy from them and are a rewards member, at least you'll get free samples and points for the purchase. The place is overwhelming to me - too many options. I can handle it for about twenty minutes, and then I need to run away and hyperventilate, lol.

Thank you so much for the ThredUp tip - I'm off to poke around there now!!

Wow.  I love the color Nina. That is a great investment!   I don't change bags with clothing color either.  I buy one purse a year or so and use it up and then replace it.  No purse collections for me -- too much effort and money I suppose.

Michelle, I have Not tried Thredup - yet.  Going there now:)

NinaW, Thanks. I'll take a look if I need more. The compression shorts in the Spanx line sold at Target were $30, which is about the top of my price range. I bought one. Right now I have 2 camisole tops with compression and three girdle type. I hope that's enough. I don't want to buy anymore of them because they look so ugly. My breast with the fat graft looked good for the first 2 weeks but this morning I looked at it and could see the old "dent" again. It's a little bit depressing going through this pain and seeing the results die away. But I was warned going in. (More retail therapy needed!)

    Happy shopping, ladies.

hey sciencegal. I'm doing OK! I've been off the boards for awhile. Enjoying the summer, doubling my weekly runs, moving to a new townhouse.

My condition is stable on Tamox. I don't know how long it will last but I'm making the most of it. All around me are women with recurrences, in worse shape than me

How are you doing? How about everybody else? What's in YOUR shopping bag? 😃

The retail therapy continues. I finally have a walk-in closet and it's nice to see my entire wardrobe in one place, instead of under the bed, in the closet, dresser drawers, etc. I bought a new, vintage Ferragamo purse on Poshmark for $45. The purse in the photo is a $485 bag I'm "borrowing."

There's a new "retail therapy" service I'm trying. It's by Rent the Runway. If you haven't heard of them, it's an excellent special-occasion gown rental company. They have a new "Unlimited" accessories service. For $75/month you get 3 accessories at a time, return them and swap them for new items. You can keep items for a day or up to 4 months. The handbag selection isn't as extensive as other bag rental places, but they also have nice jewelry and sunglasses. Not sure how long I'm going to stay a subscriber. I like not having to keep stuff. The black bag in the photo is an   Elizabeth and James handbag. It's lambskin and just gorgeous.

I hope to read about some fashion finds from my b.c. sisters, next time. Don't be shy!!
