2nd_time....our days get longer after we pass the winter solstice in December...just like you. Maybe we notice it more, because being farther north, we have a bigger difference than you do, in SoCal, between the amount of daylight in winter vs summer.

I am grateful that my son is feeling better today. He's had a stomach virus.

I am grateful for my sweet loving husband of 34 years. He's so kind and considerate. He came back home from work this morning ( about a mile from home) to grab some cash to buy Girl Scout cookies from a coworker who is raising his grand daughter.

Sorry, Nihahi, I shouldn't be on the boards when I first wake up. My silly brain read you're having summer now. What was I thinking?

I turned on TV to find out about earthquakes (turns out there was another baby one after I fell asleep) now seeing an area near LA on fire. We're in for a bad fire year with it being so hot and dry.

Susie123, that's so sweet! Your DH is a keeper!

hahha....2nd....I'd blame it on the earthquake sleep disturbances!!! I don't go near a "communication device" until I've had a few sips of my morning coffee  ...hope you're safe from the fires.

Love reading everything, and the little and big bits of happiness!

Today I am grateful my DH took our grandson to his class waaay out in the country, and I could stay home and try to accomplish a few things. Looks like my DD doesn't need me there today, so I am taking advantage having a bit of time to myself. :)

Day #17  I am grateful that I have the time to make special memories and say all those things I need and want to before I die.

I am grateful for knowing people who express their gratitude. I am also grateful that if anybody annoys me, I can spray them with the contents of my drain bulb. : ) ( I am able to thwart much bad behavior this way).

Thanks all for the non-smoking encouragement - sticking to it thus far.

Oh Red, No, I'm not that close, well I hope not anyhow LOL.  I'm just grateful for the time to do this rather than being hit by the proverbial bus.

But I will happily take the hugs and right back at ya (((((((((((Red))))))))

Thank goodness Tanya. I'm very happy that you were thinking about those you love and those who love you enough to write that.

for those who asked here is the recipe- comes from a great site called The Yummy Life- I don't love Almond Milk have made it with and without

Yes Wyoming is beautiful but windy and Rock Springs-- exceptionally windy.

I am thankful for my husband being here (live in wyo/work in CA) and we are going down to SoCal for the weekend-

Slow Cooker, Cherry Almond Steel-Cut Oatmeal

By Monica Servings: 7 (3/4-cup) servings

    Ingredients

    • 3/4 cup dried tart cherries
    • 1 apple, peeled and grated (approx. 1 cup grated); or 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
    • 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    • 1-1/2 cups water
    • 1 cup uncooked steel-cut oats
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1-1/2 tablespoons butter, cut into 5-6 pieces, optional (omit or substitute margarine for lactose-free, vegan)
    • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    • 1 tablespoon ground flax seed
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • Optional garnishes: toasted sliced almonds, maple syrup, additional almond milk or butter

    Directions

Coat inside of 3-1/2 quart (or larger) slow cooker with cooking spray. Add all ingredients (except optional toppings) to slow cooker. Stir, cover, and cook on low for 7 hours. Spoon oatmeal into bowls; add optional toppings, if desired. Store leftovers in refrigerator. Freezes well.

To reheat single servings: Put 1-cup cooked oatmeal in microwave proof bowl. Add 1/3 cup almond milk. Microwave on high for 1 minute; stir. Continue cooking for another minute, or until hot.

Recipe can be doubled in 6-quart or larger slow cooker. Increase cooking time 1 hour.

Weight Watchers PointsPlus: 5 pts per 3/4 cup serving

Grateful to have finally gotten the tattoo to cover the large scar from my mastectomy. So much prettier. The flower is the fire weed and it is the first to come up after a forest fire. The artist is Liaa Walter in Washington, DC.
