Mods is there a way we can disable individual forums that we never want to go to? I feel having the major categories with this feature are of no use because the setting is too broad and hides other forums we do want to see. WOuld love to see forums with their individual +/-. -
Musical, yes there is a way to block individual forums!
If, for example, you never play any of the word games, and don't want to see them listed among your Active Topics, you could go to that Forum (http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/31) and click the Block Forum link near the top.
You can unblock a Forum or Topic from the Dashboard tab in the blue menu.
Hope this helps. -
Thanks Mods will investigate soon. -
I just noticed my profile is missing on my last post. Normal? Does it take a while to show up? It's on all the others.
ETA: it's a new topic, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
-
Interesting Leggo -- looks like this is a glitch! We'll pass along to the tech team. Thanks for letting us know! -
Mods - I'm getting bumped out less these days, though I'm not prepared to say that problem is solved BUT for some reason I'm having this latent revelation that I cannot copy/paste from an outside document into a message box. Nothing happens upon doing paste. Another Mac issue?
-
Mods, I'm on a Mac as well. Was able to post a picture once with no problem. Have had a problem since and out of at least ten tries got a second picture to post but I had to do it while the picture was still loading and hit insert. Otherwise, nothing would happen.
-
Kam170 I am glad you are getting bumped less but we are sorry about this new issue that is also affecting kathindc.
Can you tell us your operating system and browser so we can sort it out? Also, is it only happening with pictures?
Thanks
-
Copy/Paste problem is from copying text from an out side source and pasting into BCO message box. I wouldn't copy/paste a picture.
Pictures are a problem though, but I haven't tried for awhile. Seems as though for 10 attempts (I have to be extremely motivated to do this), I might get one posted. Let me try now...
Let's see...from a link:

Worked on first try - did something get fixed recently?? Yahoo!!
Ok, from a file:

Likewise - yahoo!! First try. Is the problem really solved?
Nope...nothing happens when I paste TEXT. Well something happens, but it's hard to describe, but it still results in nothing to the eye.
Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
Safari browser 5.1.10
-
Mods, I'm OS X 10.6.8 and I use Safari as my browser. I can't do a copy and paste either. Just tried it again to make sure. Thank you for your help.
-
By the way. A while back, when looking at the message box, I use to have a check box that appeared below the box giving me the choice to show my profile. I asked about this once and you mentioned going to profile settings or something, but I didn't do that, at the time, because I thought that would generally turn off or turn on my profile (ER+PR+ etc. stuff). I wanted that checkbox because when I'm talking about cats, there is no need to turn that profile on, but if I'm talking about oncotype score, the profile settings seem relevant to the discussion. Why did that check box disappear?
-
Mods: I too still miss the box to opt in or out of posting diagnosis with each post. It was so great to be able to leave it off if you're in a continuing "conversation" on the same thread. Any chance we can get that option back?
-
I've been asking for the signature on/off switch to be restored ever since it disappeared during the site changes last September, and I'm asking again now. Please bring it back ASAP!
-
About including diagnosis/treatment with each post automatically, this is one of the many, many items on our wishlist for a future upgrade, to give members more options for how and how much of that information is displayed, and when. We have no timeline for this change, but it is with the tech team!

any updates on kindle comparability ?
-
Maureen, we can see in the tech team's list that they have analyzed what isn't working with Kindle, but there's no indication when changes will be budgeted and can be implemented.

Hi
How do I unblock someone? I inadvertently pushed the wrong button when I was trying to send a message?
thanks
c
-
Hi Momand2kids,
You can unblock a blocked member by going to your Dashboard (in the blue navigation bar on the left of your screen) and scrolling down to "Blocked Members" where you can elect to unblock any blocked members.

I accidentally blocked someone while trying to add them as a friend. It won't let me unblock, can the mods help? The screen says "you can't unblock this person" or add them as a friend, not sure how to fix as I want to keep in touch. Thanks!
-
naturegirl, from the message you're seeing, it looks as though your friend may have accidentally blocked you. We'll follow up with you in PMs to see if we can help.

Mods have you noticed that when people post a picture from an iPad it comes in sideways, I tried posting a picture from my iPad a couple of weeks ago and gave up and deleted it but I've notice a few sideways pics lately?????
-
hbcheryl, we do see sideways pictures posted sometimes, but haven't made a connection with iPad use specifically, We'll look into it, thanks!
-
I think I'm noticing a LOT less spam. Good job Mods.
-
Yeah!! Thanks for the feedback!
-
Mods - Any hope us Mac Users will have an easier time posting pictures, either via upload or link? Still a problem. Random when it works? Also cut and paste absolutely does not work. Still no check box to turn off / on profile stats by message?
-
Kam, we're sorry that you continue to have problems posting pictures, and inserting links with copy/paste.

Just did some more experiments, using my Mac (although I'm using a slightly different version than you are, with OS 10.8.5 and Safari 6.1.1), and one of your pictures from earlier in the thread. First as an upload from my desktop, and then as a link after uploading it to a website.

Both worked with no problem, so it's hard to know what the problem is unless it's something with the combo of OS and version?
http://community.breastcancer.org/livegreen/the-fa...
As for showing links, here's one from the main BCO site, and it works successfully by pasting the URL, then clicking Enter/Return to make the link active. It does make the screen jump to the top of the text input area, but the link is active once Enter/Return happens. We'll ask the tech team to look into the jump effect.
-
I'm updating my software now (or checking for new software - I thought that was "on" automatically, hmm) as I don't have the same OS and Safari versions as yours. Not really sure what your saying about pasting URL, then clicking Enter/Return. I use Command C and Command V to cut and paste.
-
Kam,
Yes, so once you paste the url into the text box, place the cursor directly after the link, and then hit the enter button and the link should become active.
Let us know if you're still having issues.
-
Mods - I'm not talking about using the link tool. I'm talking about simple cut and paste. e.g. Copy a piece of text from a MS word document, for example, and then paste into the message box. I wanted to do this because I have another problem with BCO - being logged off involuntarily between the time I start a message and the time I submit it. I use to just copy my message before submitting the message (if I remembered), because so many times I would be logged off and lose everything I just typed. I use to be able to paste what I copied from my typed message it into a new message box, after logging in (again), without being "timed out" before submitting again (I don't know if it is an issue of being timed out, but could be). I can't cut and paste, at all, from BCO or elsewhere, now, though the "time out" issue happens less, but still happens. Sometimes I can use the "back button" on my browser to get back to my message, but not always.
-
Kam -- we're not talking about using the link button either -- we're also talking about simple cut and paste. We're not sure why you can't cut and paste from a word document...or what is going on with the time-out issue.
We'll note these things for the tech team; we are hoping to roll out some technical changes in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully these issues will be solved for you then...
Thanks for your patience!
