Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!

I think I just got a flyer in the paper about some new, interesting Applebee's salads.
-
I don't usually drink juice.
It goes down fast, and compared to the fruit itself it's low-fiber. I think I get enough vitamin C, sometimes I take a vitamin.
My family likes juice and I buy the calcium supplemented OJ for them. -
Went shopping today - the mall had a sidewalk sale. Was very happy to buy in the regular sizes and bought my first ever "little black dress." (Sadly, not on sale but I didn't realize it until I loved it!!)
Was just entering my food in the tracker and Sbarro Pepperoni Pizza (I know...) was 17 points!!!!! Wow! Add the 3 pt Pepsi and that's almost my entire day. I could have had cheese for 10 pts but didn't know that until I came home and tracked. Oh well, I'll get the cheese next time (won't skip the pizza, for some reason I love that stuff!)
Was the only Pepsi today, that's a good thing - somethimes if I get started with it have a hard time stopping.
Have 2 allowance pts left for tomorrow - better behave so I can get a good # Monday!! -
Be good today!
Pepperoni has an ungodly amount of fat in it. The pieces are so small you wouldn't think it's such a killer. Sounds like it was the thick crust type.
It's hard to eat right at the Mall. I can pass the Pepsi, but getting past Mrs. Field's is hard.
Do you have someplace to wear your little black dress? -

I drink Diet sodas and my favorite is fountain soda--I just keep getting the free refills. I'd be lousy with regular soda. The only time I drink soda with a meal is if I get those fountain refills--and one to take home!! I do get a little exercise making frequent trips to the bathroom!
Good luck tomorrow! -

Could have been better but I was not good on Sunday! DH and I went to the casino so there was some pop involved. Then he baked chocolate chip cookies - had to have some... Wasn't really that over on points (and if I still had 24 would probably have been within my pts) so I can live with that.
At least I'm back to losing and tracking. -
You're headed in the right direction again!
I hope those cookies are out of reach and sight. That kind of thing just sits in my kitchen calling my name.
It's hard once you lost a bunch and only have a little left to go.... -
I can exist in a house with cookies and not eat them - now right out of the oven with the smell all around is a whole different story!!!
-
175 - that's two pounds of Pepsi, my friends! Started vacation Friday night - still have 3 days in Branson so am going to have to shape up and hit the water.
-
Well, maybe this is a good time to take a break.
You could make it through the rest of summer without gaining, and then go at it again when school starts.
The first step in weight loss is to stop gaining. -
I usually weigh myself on Monday, but decided to skip this Monday after the weekend celebrating with eating out and cake and ice cream.... One advantage of not belonging to WW--I don't have to weigh in.
Kari,
Many people reach a plateau after a weight loss like yours. At least I think so. You've stayed in the same range for quite a while now. Don't know if your staying the same with this small gain ( the 2 pounds of Pepsi) can be attributed to that. I think when we lose, we sometimes think we've got it under control and can splurge a little too. But you've done great; you're not up much; don't get discouraged. -
I'm not discouraged!! Am losing when I stay on the program and gain when I eat and drink anything I want - would be discouraged if I was doing everything right and not getting anywhere!
I told DH at dinner tonight that Rose would be proud of me - only one pop today! Trying not to let the 2 lb gain turn into anything worse! -
I think you'll hold the line.
We had a good time in Branson. Then we went to some fish place near a river. I can't remember if it was the Current or the Nianguia. It was a little low but we floated it. -
Kari: I know exactly what you are saying. I'm a lifetime member of WW, having lost 30 lbs. I've been struggling lately. However, I find when I keep my journal and stick to program I lose and feel so much better. One thing I would encourage you all to do. Take your measurements. Sometimes when you hit a plateau and don't lose, it's because your body is catching up to the weight loss and you will be losing inches. I had a 6 month period a few years ago where I went back and forth with the same 2 lbs. However, when my clothes started falling off I realized I was losing inches. I could kick myself for not having taken my measurements at the start. I would love to know now how many inches I lost, not just the weight.
Keep up the good work. -
When I try to lose weight I adjust my life style rather than go on a strict diet, so I do get discouraged if I reach a plateau because I think, OK, what do I do now?????
-
Here it goes. I think I am ready to join you in trying to lose weight. I have been slowly gaining weight since I was 27 ( now 44) and want to lose 60 lbs. I weigh 205 lbs, 62 inches tall. I weighed 145 lbs from age 18 to 25 so I think that would be fantastic for me to get back there.
I have diabetes, FBS 129!! which is high enough to qualify for diabetes diagnosis. I got a call from bc/bs offering me support from a call station staffed by nurses and educational materials. I didn't tell them that my astronomical medical bills weren't diabetes related.
I feel like I shouldn't be posting because I am still ambivalent about committing to being careful. I eat so much that I can lose weight without much suffering by just not eating junk food. My thought is rather than waiting to join you when I have it all figured out I will join now to get myself started. I am also afraid that I will gain with arimidex which I'll start soon.
Thanks for listening, I feel jazzed up now! I'm going to go walk the dog!!

I knew what I needed to be doing long before I actually started doing it. My "junk food" is Pepsi. Stop drinking it and I lose, start up and I gain. It's not rocket science but is hard to say no to myself...

Probably better than I deserve (the phrase, go ahead, you're on vacation was heard more than once!!)
Am back from the gym today and ready to meal plan my week - let's make it a good one!! (Except you, Rose, you're on vacation...)
I've never been a lose in summer, gain in winter type - summer is my bad time so I'm happy to stay the same! -
kari,
For me summer is always easier--tomatoes,cucumber, cantaloupe, watermelon--all the fresh stuff from the garden. But those vacations can counteract the good stuff!! I leave tomorrow for 9 days and intend to stay the same weight with biking. And then I won't have my refrigerator (low fat ice cream!)!
I'm glad you're staying steady! -
Wow, everyone is doing so well. As for me, I only managed to lose 5 pounds within the past several months.
But I am having my Lat Flap surgery today at 3:30 this afternoon and I am soooooooo hungry!
But I will be sure to weigh myself again before leaving for the hospital!
See you all in a couple of days with my brand-new booblet! -
How exciting! Hope it all goes well.
-
Summer is almost over.
It's back in the saddle again! -
171
OK, will start boring you with my weekly weigh in again as I am getting back on track now that summer is over (I'm backward - gain in summer, lose in winter - go figure!)
Having to post this somewhere makes me behave a little more! Have been losing about 1lb a week for the last 3-4 weeks so nothing impressive but steady. Still have 160 as the goal (and am still ignoring the too skinny talk from mom!)
This week will be hard - we're moving this weekend and I'm trying to clean out the freezer and not buy groceries - will be seeing quite a bit of "fake" food.
Hope everyone's getting back on track! -
Actually, looks like you've done well over the summer and as I recall you've lost a lot of weight over all. You certainly are a role model for others! Keep up the good work!!
-
You held on - that's good. It is easier to work on diet in the winter, at least until the holidays hit.
I don't think you'll blow away in the wind at 160, and youre' just a few pounds from seeing the '6' in the middle digit. Does that get your BMI into happy-land?
When we moved, many years ago, I cleaned out my freezer. I threw out all this stuff I'd bought at the Price Club (now Costco). It was an eye-opener. So be looking at the detris of your kitchen for clues about what is left, it's potential waste you could be avoiding. Unles of course it's four kinds of vinegar! -
LOL - I rarely use the two kinds of vinegar I stock!! I've not been using the freezer much - don't like frozen meat. We're giving it to my sister and getting a second fridge - the freezer on top will be big enough (I have a side-by-side in the kitchen and can't fit anything big in it.)
Did find a huge bag of garden pasta - bought it before I knew a serving of pasta salad was 6-7 pts, not worth it!!! I also have several different shapes of pasta in the cupboard that will be tossed. I've definately learned what I deem worthy of points (the occasional pepsi) and what's not!
BMI is 25.2 right now. 169 gives me 25 even. High end of the normal range but in the range - woohoo!!! -
Congrats, KariLyn! What a wonderful BMI!
I sure agree - its important to save the calories for what you really enjoy.
Really want to lose some pounds before onc appointment late Sept. I don't know if I want it bad enough though to actually lose the weight!
-
Hi divas...
I am back
looks like you are all doing well
she said with her tail between her legs
Wish I could say
the same
I slacked off
over the summer
and gained back five pounds
I did not
gain it all back this time
I started biting
and writing this morning
so determined to do this
even if it is taking me forever
back on track
i am back to my walking routine as well
xoxo
Patti -
Good for you Patti - get back on the wagon!! I'm not proud to say I had to record 172 this week - eating out while moving is killing me! Did see 170 this morning (yes, I weigh daily....) so think staying home to eat and getting to the Y is getting me back on track.
We can do this!
((hugs))
