Gotta tell ya Bren I haven't missed living in a house for almost four years now - I was in charge of the "leaves" for 30 odd years and I hated every minute of it - especially when we lived on an acre on a mountain top in Tennessee - I had a four month sinus infection caused by the leaf mold and I had a blower that was useless so I raked and raked and raked and raked.........

Sandy ... it makes me feel better knowing that someone understands my pain and anguish over the damn leaves. Our house is surrounded by enormous trees. The oak tree is about 100 ft tall. I was cursing a blue streak today every time the wind came up and blew the damn things in the wrong direction!!!
Glad you still don't miss it. I better I wouldn't either!
hugs,
Bren -
Oak trees, I don't miss'em. Not the leaves so much, as the HUGE acorns, ouch, ouch when they hit'ya falling. Or leave dents in the car. Prefer our Sugar Maples, delicious color, and then, yummy syrup.
another painter, Blue, I've never heard of and like....
as for food prices, I've noticed it at Costco, not so much at Trader Joe's. -

News report of something Jackie posted from DKos. Amazing - no matter which side does it, destroying all elections. Also Bill Moyers doing a segment on Dollarocracy tonight. -

do not miss those dang leaves in Maryland. I had my revenge. I drove the lawn mower over them again and again until I pulverized the little bastards into the grass.
For awhile we had one of those backpack blowers that sounded like a sonic engine. I went back to the riding mower.
Down here in drought land texas I have decided that the skinny oak leaves are protective mulch through our furnace summers, so on the ground they stay. Everybody else bags and bags them. Not me. -
chickadee - protective mulch. we agree. Very protective. Chopping them up makes them even more biodegradable.
Tender pictures Blue, meant to say how much I loved the one of those adorable & wise kittens keeping warm. -
chicky - just noticed your phylis diller quote - I LOVED her, esp. when she talked about her husband, Fang. -
OK, officially bonkers for Teddy the "talking" porcupine. The videos are newest, to earliest, dare ya to watch just one! Fascinating story in text too....

Sunny....if they don't get you coming, they will cheat while your going.
I watched every episode that Teddy starred in......how funny. I had no idea that a porcupine could be a pet and a really fun one.....but then, I think will stick with my dogs and cats here.
Jackie
who will be blowing leave and re-clearing the dog pen tomorrow....oh Joy. -
Lo and behold, a relative through marriage:

Cleaning day here. Jackie and Bren, I'll trade you cleaning 3 bathrooms to leaf blowing! -

We are in Florida right now with both sons an DIL. I am feeling very fortunate right now. I will be checking in with all of my friends here from time to time but will have you all in my thoughts every day. Especially those of you who are having a difficult time. -
Pip....how great to be in Fla. and hope you are close to a beach. I'd rather sand be blowing in my face than leaves. Good thing I'm cleaning bathrooms today for Blue, eh !!!!
Speaking of Blue....It just so happened that when I opened BC. Org to this thread......there was that beautiful, gorgeous white dew-drop covered rose right before my eyes. Breath-taking for sure. You do find some of the most glorious pictures to share.
A ton of work on my docket today. Dh is recovering fairly well from the surgery and I'm so happy about that but the work part of life is mine, all mine right now. Have to say I've actually sort of amazed myself about what I've been able to accomplish without any help. Then again I've always said it is amazing what you can actually do when you have no choice. It may be the one time when not having much of a choice is a good thing.
I'll be checking in later. May look for a graphic or two to share before I go.
