Beautiful pictures....the blue flower since it seems to have a trailing ( stem/growth ) could actually be from a vegetable but likely isn't and just appears that way. Whatever, however, it sure is pretty. I too think the conservatives have a different standard. It is all right for some of them to be "from" elsewhere but not the Pres. but then frankly......as he is half black that it all it ever took anyway.

Not much time to spend today... nursing Dh who had hernia repair yesterday. Third time, same place so he is really, really sore. It hasn't been the worst for me but this time of yr. is not great. Lawn and deck decorations needed to go in my storage, along with a final window washing for the bank of windows on the deck....inside and out. Had to run to Mt. Vernon ( 40 mile rd. trip ) this morning to get a blood test for upcoming PCP visit. Also had to rake the leaves out of the dog pen so I didn't step in un-savory messes.

Going to go make some egg salad for lunch..... my first meal of the day. No time this a.m. but did get some breakfast for Dh.

Talk about denial! Rob Ford's sister says he is NOT an addict. And she knows because she is one! WOW

Alexandria - WOW, just WOW. Thank you so much for finding & posting that article. Changes a lot about his behavior. Kinda reminds me of so many who "protest" too much about the "evils" - and then wind up being hidden in a closet, or whatever, themselves. Or have a "wide stance." Bleah...

This came from a Get Rid of Fox News site. This is the size that came up but I knew no one would read the fine print.

Good morning. weather report for Bren from Up Northice on the birdbaths at sunrise when I walked out to get the newspaper. Everything growing that is killed by a full frost is g-o-n-e. Strong winds took down large tree limbs, but all safe. We had a severe ice storm a few years ago, and think that's why we've been saved much electricity loss since then, massive loss of large trees, limbs and WEMCO ( our electricity generator for this area) FINALLY did some tree removal, finally. Good thing about being in a small rural NE town, seems everyone has a power saw, plow, more "boy toys" ( which is what I call them, even tho some of my women friends have them too!) than you can imagine, and neighbors always helping each other.

I swear the wild turkeys know it's hunting season - haven't seen any in days. Everyone wearing orange.

Thinking of E, hoping you are as HOPEFUL as we are. Chickadee too.

Blue - ready for more violet, lavender, sweet peas...country gardens, wooden benches, rocking chairs on Ye Olde Porch

So nice to see your flowers...happy doing errands.

thank you Alexandria. Thank you posting that National Post article. I never read that paper because it belonged to another of Canada' belligerent entitled second or third generation rich jerks, who never actually did anything that gave them the right to be so, so pompous and sure that they knew everything. And that stepping on another person's head way a legitimate way to get ahead. Even small C conservatives in Canada are/were embarrassed by the excesses of Ford and Conrad Black. And we haven't even talked about our Senate spending scandal. The amounts, charges are not huge in the grand scheme of things, but they are indicative of some sort of 'malady' wherein the sufferer has delusions that s/he is somehow special, exempt from the rules that the rest have to follow if we are to have a reasonable, civil, life together on this planet. Unfortunately, most of our current miscreants are also Conservatives, or libertarians.

I like that tattoo.....though I am not a real tattoo type person. Also the great pics that Sunny describes so well. As far as our weather ( Bren will identify here ) there has been well and enough wind the past two days to bring plenty of the leaves down to the ground. Of course, with Dh out of commission that will be my job to get rid of them or as least as much as I can. I'm thinking and wondering -- maybe this year we will leave a covering of them to mulch in Spring. Our neighbor used to ignore ALL of his until Spring and just mulch for hours and hours and hours......though does sound like a lot of riding up and down on our hilly terrain. We will see......I'll have to just look it over and see what might be possible.

Definitely sounds a lot colder right now at your house Sunny. They are talking early snow here though so we may catch up in a big way rather quickly. If it snows early.....hmmm, that may mean a much colder winter than we usually have to endure. Oh well, it is what it is and we will deal with it if it comes.

People starting to make the rounds of the late night t.v. hosts and Sunday programs. Sigh !!!! ThumbsDown They believe what they say but I still look to see if their nose is getting any longer.

    Good Morning Peeps!

I just accidentally logged myself off the computer. Glad I hadn't written a long note!

It's cold, cold, cold here this a.m. Only 29 degrees when I checked earlier. Supposed to warm up to 60 ... great day for blowing leaves .. just wish the wind was blowing in the right direction for getting rid of the leaves. Right now it's blowing in the opposite direction I need it to be blowing.

Sunny and Jackie .. Thanks for the weather update. I like to hear what's going on in different areas. Haven't checked to see if the outdoor water bowl and bird feeder are frozen over.

Blue .. I'm really enjoying the pictures. Cute tattoo on that guy. I have a good sized tattoo on my lower back. Yikes! I got it as a 50th birthday present. As much as I would love to have another tattoo ... it really hurts having that needle poked in your skin! Plus, the older I get the thinner my skin is, on my arms especially. The slightest little scratch and I have a big red welt ... not attractive!

Enjoyful .. Any luck on getting an anesthesiologist yet? Are you feeling better with the chemo break? Speaking of break ... how is your arm and shoulder doing? I feel so bad for you that this happened.

Guess I better get dressed and get my butt outside to walk the dogs. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    hugs,

    Bren

sitting in the car, I started laughing my ass off. Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride was playing and I couldn't help but picture all the video craziness around this Toronto Mayor and how much fun that would fit a musical montage............"Why don't you come with me little girl.......on a magic carpet ride......."

There are certainly some US mayors over the years who could slip in there too.......Marion Barry's crack years fit.

    Ay yi yi.

Well, well, well, as they say. What have we here ??? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/11/08/1254014/-Major-New-Development-Could-Swing-VA-AG-Race-to-D Having said that above, I would have to say it does at this point just seems an odd over-sight. I sure hope that is what is born out.....no matter what happens. Win, lose, draw --- it is just important that it all be above board and fair. Of course, I certainly would love to see the Democrats make a clean sweep of things in Virginia.

Blue, I think it is easy to spend a lot of money at the grocery store or market or where-ever you buy.....even Wally's World can give you a jolt. I partially put it down to trying to eat as much quality food as we can given that here we are not getting too young and try to keep damages from food on the slowest pace we can. Sometimes the budget won't stretch and we have to 'cheat' big time then.

Maybe next time it won't be so bad.

$200 for how many bags and how many weeks of food? Food is my last hold out for slashing the budget. I buy organic and if I want something (out of season or $$$) I will buy it - like cruciferous vegetables, because they are cancer fighters. I try to use the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen list to distinguish which items I can avoid buying the more expensive organic, but sometimes I get lazy and just shop at the organic grocery market (all organic).

Blue .. I spent $165 at the store yesterday. That's just for one week ... then Tim will stop at the store on his way out and spend another $50 on snacks to take on the road. I'm more worried about coming up with the $385 for heating fuel.

Never did warm up today like forecast. I spent hours and hours blowing the damn leaves and there is at least another three days worth of work out there. It's days like this that I wish I lived in a condo!

    hugs,

    Bren
