Trip to see Vinnie

I asked Vinnie about that and he said generally the symmetry and look is better without pre-constructed nips, but in some cases where the nip projects just a little he can make that look really good. -
I had the nip reconstruction and then saw Vinnie in September . I'm so pleased. My nips were in April and are just little buttons now. I'm glad I did the nip surgery but it's a personal choice. No matter what you decide...nips or no nips....you will be thrilled with Vinnie. -
Hello!! I've got an appointment for Tatts from Vinnie in NOLA on December 2. I was lucky that there was a cancellation after I tried to book this Spring, and Brittany called me right away. She's incredible. Having had a DXM in July '10, and unexpected complications that resulted in a number of reconstruction surgeries, I'm finally thrilled to say I will be DONE before 2014 rolls in. Against Vinnie's advice I did have nipple recon, and they are small bumps by now and I'm very pleased. Am excited to now be able to have the icing on the cake, be completed once and for all, and to meet the most wonderful Vinnie. He's become a demi-god for many of us. New Orleans is such a beautiful town, it is another treat to be visiting there for a couple of days and take it all in! Vinnie, here I come! Let me know if anyone else will be there then and we can celebrate. -
Oh how exciting! Best of luck! I can't wait until I can get it done! Can anyone tell me how long to wait before I have the nip reconstruction (I really do think I want that) after my implants have been put in (that was 7 weeks ago) and how long I should wait from when I have the nip reconstruction I should wait to have them tattooed? Is it appropriate to ask how much Vinnie costs and if it is normally covered by insurance? -
marcy,
My PS waits 3-4 months after exchange to do nipples. But I believe it all depends on skin healing. Then, I believe Vinnie waits 5 months after nipple construction to do tattoos. (Somebody please correct me if that's wrong!) Sounds like FOREVER to me, but I look forward to being done some day. :-) -
Oh me too Dulcigirl! (love the shoes) :-) -
thanks, Marcy! Bought them right after diagnosis cuz I'd never bought any shoes before that were totally frivolous. I was standing in the shoe store looking at them and thought, "Life is too short for boring shoes!" Lol. I'm saving them to wear to celebrate being done! -

I'm saving them to wear to celebrate being done. Hey! Maybe I'll wear them some day when I have my appointment with Vinnie...or at least for dinner later that day. :-) -
I was told tattoos can happen after 3 months. -
I just heard from the reporter from Channel 7 in Washington, DC. The piece about Vinnie's nipple tattooing will air Thursday the 14th on the eleven o'clock news. She called to ask if it would be ok to show a full head to waist shot. Sure! Why not?! I'll flash my breasts for just about anyone! -
getting just a little frustrated - have called to make an appointment for Spring several times and not able to for one reason or another per Richie: scheduler not working, etc for almost two weeks now, is that normal?
I know Vinnie is the best and want to give myself this opportunity but starting to think it won't happen!!!!???
Anyone else have problems? First call Richie said they are booking April and May, then 3rd call he said 2nd week in May, he said he'd call me back three times and now I'm worried it will be in June!!!! I'm going to MD so I can also visit my son who will take me there, but getting so frustrated!
Help!
Catie -
I spoke too soon! Just got off the phone with Richie and have a May 6th appointment!!!! 10 days before my Bday so will certainly give myself the gift of being done done!!! -
Congrats Catie! Looking forward to hearing about your experience. -
Hi Everyone, thanks for all of this helpful information! I can't wait until my time comes when I can go to see Vinnie (which won't be for a while still as I'm in the TE phase) and then put all this BC stuff behind me. What are people's thoughts about Uni (I had BMX with one nip spared) and getting just the nip flap w/ tattoo, or nip and areola reconstructed w/ tattoo? I'm thinking I at least want the nipple reconstructed so that there is some projection compared with the natural nip, but am debating on having the areola grafted too. My PS says that it's best to have the additional grafting for projection, but I'm really not looking forward to having to heal from a donor site as well.
Has anyone had the nipple and areola reconstructed and then tattooed on one side with natural nip on the other? Are you happy with the results? I heard when there's grafting and it's a uni, it's harder to match the other side. Is this true? -
Just heard a promo for the DC area's ABC affiliate Channel 7's news tonight - they're showing the segment on Vinnie. Farmerlucy - I remember you said they were taping the day you got your tats. They usually put links to the stories on their website after they've aired, so I'll look and post it whenever they put it on their website. -
Natsfan - EEEEKKKK!

Hi gals- Im in the process- should exchange in January. Am thinking about a Vinnie 3d tattoo in the spring. We've always wanted to visit NO so it would be fun to go and check it out also. What is the basic recovery after the tats? Just care for them, keep covered for x amount of time? They scar over? Wondering if should be in town few days before then leave after tattooing? (ok not right to airport right, but after)...or is it no big deal and wont affect having fun? I dont have sensation in that area on skin so am not super worried about it being painful during or after. -
Aviva - There is really no recovery. I headed straight to the airport after I was done. Vinnie gives you the instructions and a little kit to take care of the tattoos. You put neosporin on them twice a day for four days, then switch to something like cocoa butter. Mine did not really ever scab, but the top layer of skin did flake off after a week or so - that did not affect the look of the tattoos. I am completely healed now after three weeks. They look great. You will not be disappointed. Surprisingly it did sting during and after the procedure for a few days. I was very glad about that. I thought I'd be completely numb.
-
Aviva - I went on a long mountain hike a couple hours after I had my tats done with no issues. This isn't like surgery with restrictions - as others have said the aftercare is minor. Make your plans to do what you want after the tats and HAVE FUN!!!! -
Thanks kayb for the advice! I will contact him. -
I would also call soon to make your appointment - at least for MD as they were booking into May when I got through to Richie this week! Worth the wait from what I've read and heard though! -
Vinnie is totally worth the wait. I am thrilled with mine. I feel whole again. -
Here is the link to the WJLA piece. It gives you a great idea of what it is like to have the nips done in Finksburg. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/11/nipple-tattooing-artist-vinnie-myers-helps-breast-cancer-survivors-96904.html -
Made my appointment with Vinnie for May.
For those interested.....When I spoke to Richie yesterday there are only a few slots left in May in Maryland. -
Wow, wonderful piece. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get to that point! -
Thanks guys! Im getting psyched about the concept. I ordered some temp ones to see what itd be like. -
nice to see vinnie get some props. It really does make you feel whole again. I am so grateful to find him. It was a stretch for us financially but well worth every penny. Plus we had a blast at Nola while we were there. Good thing it wasn't maradi gras i might have earned a lot of beads lol -
Momof2 - my appt is May 6th, when is yours ? DH was really impressed with the video, thanks farmerlucydaisy! -
Catie: My appointment is May 19th. Nervous and excited at the same time. -
I know what you mean, but after what we've gone through so far, this should be a lot easier!
